Chapter 32: Successful Revenge – Xu Yinyu’s Wrist Slitting…
Xu Yinyu held the engagement invitation card and placed it in front of Yu Shujin, her tone as calm as she could manage. “Are you and Shen Lu really engaged?”
The engagement between the sole heir of the Yu Corporation and the youngest daughter of the Chengsheng Group was naturally a perfect match in the eyes of outsiders.
And Xu Yinyu was the obstacle between them.
Unable to let go, yet filled with hatred.
Yu Shujin gently raised her hand and tossed the card to the floor. “This has nothing to do with you, A-Yu. Shen Lu and I will only have this one engagement ceremony at most.”
Her voice was matter-of-fact, completely devoid of emotional fluctuation.
As if this were a completely normal event, beyond reproach.
“Is that what you think?” Xu Yinyu’s voice shattered by the end of the sentence.
“Did you honestly expect me to abandon the entire Yu family for you?”
Yu Shujin rubbed her aching brow. She had been sleeping only three hours a night for a week straight. Her eyes were heavily shadowed, and her mind was cluttered and chaotic.
She needed to urgently ease tensions with the Shen family. At this stage, announcing her engagement to Shen Lu was the most powerful signal.
Stripped of her public goddess persona, Yu Shujin was essentially no different from countless other businesspeople.
A cold, calculating image was revealed to Xu Yinyu.
Xu Yinyu’s tongue felt dry. Her emotions burst forth almost instantly. “Then why did you register for marriage with me? Why did you repeatedly give me the illusion that I would be well treated!”
“Hmph.” Yu Shujin gave a cold, scornful laugh. “Why? Xu Yinyu, eight years ago, when I was kidnapped alone, abandoned, lying isolated in a hospital bed, staring at the blank ceiling, I was asking the same question: Why?”
“Why were you the one to provoke me first? Why did I actually fall for someone like you? Why did I let you run away so easily? Why, why, why? I’ve screamed these questions inside for eight years. Now, I’m returning them to you using the same methods, and you can’t handle it?”
Yu Shujin slowly stood up, her eyes revealing a sinister paranoia she had never shown Xu Yinyu before.
The moment she reunited with Xu Yinyu, a perfect plan for revenge had already formed in her heart:
Sign a marriage agreement with Xu Yinyu. Make her fall in love with her again. Then, at her most unsuspecting moment, neglect her, betray her, and redirect the youthful, unsheathed blade into her chest, making her taste the bitter fruit she had sown.
Xu Yinyu’s face was deathly pale. She was completely distraught, looking frail and ready to collapse.
Just yesterday, this very person had patiently and gently massaged her waist, yet only a day later.
She could no longer see any hint of past tenderness on this face.
All at once, her stomach churned violently, twisting with agonizing pain. But because she hadn’t eaten anything all evening, she could only dry heave, in such agony that it felt like she was spitting out her entire internal organs.
She stumbled backward, leaning against the wall to support herself, her whole being assaulted by the biting sting of pins, yet she faced Yu Shujin without lowering her gaze.
“So, it was revenge,” Xu Yinyu’s voice was very soft, as if a gust of wind could scatter it.
“Your revenge is successful. Please be merciful and let me go.” The final words were choked with sobs.
Yu Shujin stepped forward, lifted Xu Yinyu’s chin, and shattered her last shred of hope, word by word. “In. Your. Dreams.”
The moonlight she failed to grasp in her youth was now constrained by her own body, which was the only way she could keep her by her side.
Yu Shujin pulled Xu Yinyu into her embrace, feeling Xu Yinyu’s desperate struggle.
Xu Yinyu used all her strength to push Yu Shujin away fiercely. “I don’t want this.”
“I will repay everything I owe you. I just beg you, let me leave, give me freedom,” Xu Yinyu said, panting against the wall.
“You’ll never repay what you owe me in this lifetime. Stay by my side and repay it slowly.” Yu Shujin’s words were like a cruel villain in a romance novel. She forcibly dragged Xu Yinyu toward the master bedroom and violently slammed the door shut.
Xu Yinyu struggled in panic. The more she struggled, the colder her heart grew, sensing the other’s sheer physical strength and dangerously autocratic methods.
For the first time, she felt genuine fear toward Yu Shujin.
That panic, the fear of the unknown, enveloped her.
“You will stay in this room for the next few days and reflect seriously,” Yu Shujin said, locking the door and leaving.
Xu Yinyu immediately got up to chase her but was too late. She could only pound helplessly and frantically on the door.
“Yu Shujin! Let me out! You can’t do this to me anymore! You already forgave me! Didn’t you already forgive me?”
Xu Yinyu’s shouts continuously echoed from upstairs to downstairs, reaching Yu Shujin’s ears.
She felt intensely agitated. The confrontation with Xu Yinyu had drained all her mental energy.
Even though she was in the absolute superior position now, both emotionally and in terms of societal status, why did her heart still ache?
Especially now, she should have been happily drinking two glasses of fine vintage wine to celebrate.
She looked at the table full of her favorite dishes but found them inedible.
It wasn’t until late into the night, when the noise upstairs gradually subsided, that Yu Shujin finished organizing all her documents and prepared to check on Xu Yinyu’s condition.
She understood that Xu Yinyu’s current state was worrying, her emotions low, and she would need a long period of recovery.
But Yu Shujin didn’t regret it. She didn’t regret getting engaged to Shen Lu to secure the Yu family’s interests.
She regretted even less using this to corner Xu Yinyu, dealing a heavy blow to her heart.
But when she opened the door, a strange smell hung in the pitch-black room.
Yu Shujin switched on the light. The moment she realized what the strange smell was, all her emotions froze. Her body was iced over, and her consciousness slowly returned.
The dim, bright light illuminated Xu Yinyu’s pale, colorless face, her heavily scarred wrists, and the cold, blood-stained shards of porcelain.
A chill shot up from her heart, almost making Yu Shujin faint.
Snapping back to reality, Yu Shujin quickly knelt beside Xu Yinyu.
She tremblingly tore off her own shirt and wrapped it around Xu Yinyu’s still-bleeding wrist.
“Hey, Xu Ruoying, get to my villa immediately. Bring emergency equipment and A-type blood bags. Xu Yinyu cut her wrists.”
After Yu Shujin spoke, the phone dropped from her hand. She held Xu Yinyu tightly, feeling the other’s weakening breath.
“A-Yu, A-Yu.”
Soon, Xu Ruoying and her team pushed Xu Yinyu onto the ambulance. Yu Shujin, covered in blood and disheveled, remained on the spot, wanting to follow but blocked by Xu Ruoying.
Xu Ruoying draped a black leather coat over Yu Shujin and patted her shoulder. “Wipe your face clean.”
Yu Shujin’s eyes were hollow and blank. She was only focused on chasing the ambulance and dared not let herself stop.
After an unknown period, the red light in the Emergency ICU finally turned green.
Yu Shujin’s heart-wrenching panic finally subsided.
The body that had endured continuous work without collapsing showed fragments of porcelain-like fragility at that moment.
Yu Shujin slid down the wall corner.
Cold sweat had long made her clothes sticky. Her loose hair was also damp from tension, clinging together in strands. The leather coat was stained with dry red blood, and she was in an unprecedented state of disarray and panic.
Xu Ruoying came out and walked straight toward Yu Shujin. “Boss Yu, making a person live is easy. Death is not hard for you either. But if you want to make a person despair of life and wish for death, you might as well kill me first and save yourself the trouble of constant running around.”
“What exactly are you doing?” Xu Ruoying couldn’t understand how someone like Xu Yinyu could be pushed to the point of slitting her wrists by another person.
They had clearly been a loving couple just recently.
After only a short separation, what exactly had Yu Shujin done to push her to this extent?
Yu Shujin’s throat was dry. After a long silence, she covered her face and tremblingly spoke a sentence. “I messed everything up. I fell in love with Xu Yinyu.”
Xu Ruoying stared at her in shock. “Are you kidding me? Did you just realize that?”
“Do you have to wait until Xu Yinyu dies before you learn how to treat the person you like?”
She couldn’t comprehend Yu Shujin’s obsession with tormenting others—it was both exhausting and ultimately fruitless.
After all this trouble, she had committed both good and bad deeds alone. Not only did she work hard for no appreciation, but she also pushed the person she had liked since adolescence to the brink.
How could there be such a stupid and wicked lover as Yu Shujin in this world?
Yu Shujin shook her head trembling. “I, I just hated her, blamed her in my heart. I wanted her to hate me the same way I hated her, so she would remember me firmly.”
Dealing with a mentally unstable person in love is a difficult subject.
What she claimed to want was love, yet she was only satisfied by the other person’s wholehearted hatred.
Xu Ruoying didn’t understand, nor did she respect it. “Go see a psychologist. Oh, wait, the psychologist already refused to take you.
Tell me, Miss Xu, an ordinary person, is being tormented and entangled to this extent just because she had an unpleasant relationship with you. She is simply unlucky to the extreme.”
Yu Shujin’s face was pale. She stared motionlessly at Xu Ruoying’s lips moving up and down. “How is she? Is her body alright?”
“She’s fine, she was saved anyway.” Xu Ruoying glared angrily at Yu Shujin. “If you don’t want her to live, keep provoking her. Don’t be gentle, don’t feel distressed, just give her a quick end. Don’t torture her slowly with a soft knife.”
Yu Shujin lowered her head. “I won’t be coming here for a while. You, please take good care of her for me.”
Xu Ruoying waved her hand. “Say whatever else you need to say quickly. I will reluctantly look after Miss Xu for you.”
“If she calms down, you must tell me,” Yu Shujin’s obsession remained unchanged.
Xu Ruoying rolled her eyes dramatically. “What are you planning to use to provoke her this time? You’re already engaged to Shen Lu, just leave her alone.”
“Impossible!” Yu Shujin’s eyes darkened, and she repeated, “Impossible. We will die together, even if we have to die.”
Xu Ruoying was startled by Yu Shujin’s sinister gaze and felt a chill for Xu Yinyu.
She had encountered a persistent, self-deluded female ghost.
Who could possibly fare well?
Yu Shujin slowly stood up, walked towards the hospital exit, and got into the same luxurious sedan, disappearing into the traffic.
Xu Ruoying saw Yu Shujin desperately tilt her head back, her blood-stained hand wiping something near her eyes. Her entire body was tense. Xu Ruoying couldn’t tell what she was frantically suppressing, but the next second, she saw a blood-stained tear roll down from Yu Shujin’s eye as she lowered her head.
Xu Ruoying froze, her delicate face filled with worry, lost in thought.
