- Chapter 20.2 - Considerable Demand
Yan Chen’s slender fingers held the fruit knife, the apple spinning effortlessly in her hand as a long, unbroken peel curled down. Not everyone could peel an apple like that. For some reason, Song Shujiu found herself mesmerized.
Yan Chen’s hands were beautiful knuckles defined, pale yet strong. Every time they wandered over her body, they effortlessly scattered the fire burning inside her.
Snapping out of it, Song Shujiu shook her head. What was wrong with her? Getting distracted just by looking at a pair of hands? The apple was suddenly right in front of her face, Yan Chen waving it teasingly.
This girl really lost her mind when pregnant.
“Do you need this princess to feed you? Or are pregnant women suddenly too weak to lift a finger?”
Yan Chen’s voice was laced with amusement, carrying a teasing lilt in the night.
Song Shujiu blushed at the fruity scent and swatted her arm. “Of course I can’t carry heavy things, it’ll hurt the baby.”
Song Shujiu was truly dramatic. Yan Chen doubted any noble lady in Zhao Kingdom could rival her flair for theatrics.
Yet, for all her supposed delicacy, she could climb trees. And though she acted fragile, she could outrun a dog when she wanted to.
This was the kind of person Yan Chen found hard to quit once she got attached.
Like now, as she fed an apple into Song Shu Jiu’s mouth, the latter draped her entire weight onto her, soft and languid: “You’re so thoughtful. I promise to take you seriously from now on, no second thoughts.”
Yan Chen scoffed. “I’m not afraid of second thoughts.”
Who would dare covet what was hers?
If Song Shu Jiu dared to do anything behind her back, she’d just capture and kill the offender, then tie the girl back to her side. She wasn’t afraid of Song Shu Jiu running away.
“Oh? So you wouldn’t be scared at all if I left?”
Song Shu Jiu lifted her gaze, slightly displeased.
“I’d just catch you, break your legs.”
Yan Chen’s voice was gentle as she stroked the top of Song Shu Jiu’s head smooth, fragrant, and silken. Her hand trailed down to the girl’s back, pressing against a frame so slender it felt like it might snap. With such a fragile build, how dare she talk about running away?
Song Shu Jiu nestled her head against Yan Chen’s chest. The woman’s body was soft and comfortable, and as she wrapped her arms around Yan Chen’s waist, her mind began to wander.
Lately, that thought had grown stronger. Every time she saw Yan Chen, she wanted to crush her into her own body.
Song Shu Jiu slowly met her gaze, eyes gleaming. Yan Chen knew immediately, she was up to something again.
“Want to head back inside?”
They’d been outside for a while, and the night was chilly with heavy dew. Song Shu Jiu had surely had enough fresh air.
“Look at this clear moon, soft grass. Isn’t the night scenery beautiful?”
“Passable.”
Wasn’t it always like this?
Every night after finishing court affairs, she’d walk back through the same dewy scenes. She’d seen it all countless times it had long become mundane to her.
Was Song Shu Jiu asking because she found it exceptionally beautiful?
Yan Chen was about to mock her for being unsophisticated when Song Shu Jiu grabbed her shoulders and planted a quick kiss on her lips, eyes bright and innocent.
“What I mean is, wouldn’t it be a waste to go back inside on such a lovely night?”
Tonight, she was determined to have her way with Yan Chen. Every time, she was the one being devoured it was her turn to take charge for once.
So that was her plan?
Pinned against the old tree trunk, Yan Chen understood. Song Shu Jiu’s rambling had all been leading to this another attempt to conquer her.
Heh.
Wishful thinking.
With a swift pull, Yan Chen reversed their positions, bracing one arm between the tree and Song Shu Jiu’s waist to cushion any impact. Half-embraced, Song Shu Jiu’s face flushed apple-red, her eyes fluttering stubbornly.
“You’re exhausted every day worrying over state affairs, managing this massive estate, and then having to serve me on top of it. That’s just not right.”
Her fingers tugged at Yan Chen’s sleeve. Tonight, the woman wore an indigo robe embroidered with mandarin ducks, crabapple blossoms, and auspicious clouds, its dark gold patterns flowing elegantly understated yet regal in the night. The sight stoked the fire in Song Shu Jiu’s heart, leaving only one thought in her mind.
Yan Chen smirked. “How considerate of you.”
Too bad.
Song Shu Jiu wanted to ride her, but Yan Chen’s eyes darkened. She had no intention of letting the girl have her way so easily—otherwise, she’d really end up spoiled and unruly.
Song Shu Jiu’s gaze lingered on Yan Chen’s pronounced collarbones, her slender neck more elegant than any swan she’d ever seen.
Leaning in, she wrapped her arms around Yan Chen and kissed her fiercely. The heat of the girl’s lips in the cool night sent tremors through Yan Chen’s chest. Her restraint unraveled under the soft, urgent press, and she lowered her head to meet her.
“If you’re inexperienced, don’t just charge ahead.”
Song Shujiu’s kissing skills still hadn’t improved at all clumsy and haphazard. Yan Chen gently pressed her onto the grass, the corners of her eyes lifting as she said, “Let me teach you one more time.”
If she still couldn’t learn, next time she’d be sent to sweep the courtyard.
Dizzy from the overwhelming waves of pleasure, Song Shujiu lay sprawled out, feeling as though she was floating among the clouds as she gazed at the woman before her.
“Have you done this often before?”
Otherwise, how could her technique be so skilled? Yan Chen’s hand stiffened momentarily before she broke into a lazy, radiant smile. “Do you think I’m like you, needing to be taught everything?”
Only someone as inexperienced as Song Shujiu would dare think of running wild over her.
“What’s this?”
Song Shujiu watched as Yan Chen pulled out an exquisitely crafted wooden box from her robes. Inside was an unusually shaped jade rod, intricately carved with elaborate patterns. Bewildered, Song Shujiu asked, “What is this?”
“A gift for you.”
After learning of her pregnancy, Yan Chen had commissioned this treasure crafted from premium jade with meticulous attention to detail. She had planned to present it later, but since Song Shujiu had provoked her tonight, she decided to teach her a little more.
“Mmm—”
Her pheromones surged violently through her glands, electrifying every inch of her body, the wisteria fragrance growing increasingly rich. Tears blurred Song Shujiu’s vision, the sensation was indescribable, even more overwhelming than when Yan Chen used her hands. “This jade… it changes on its own.”
Once fully sheathed inside, Yan Chen noticed Song Shujiu clutching fistfuls of grass, her entire body trembling. A sudden lightness filled Yan Chen’s mood, and she kindly explained.
No wonder she had felt uncomfortably full earlier, Yan Chen had gently pressed a finger to the gland behind Song Shujiu’s left ear, allowing her own pheromones to slowly seep in. This unique excitement intertwined with the jade beneath her, igniting Song Shujiu into a blazing frenzy. Yan Chen burned like wildfire, her eyes half-lidded as the two entwined like an intricate spider’s web. Yan Chen leaned down to kiss her brows and lashes under the scattered stars and dense canopy, they melted into the vitality of nature itself.
Yan Chen’s figure was vividly reflected in Song Shujiu’s eyes, her every movement. The world spun upside down, and the two became inseparable.
By the time everything came to an end, Song Shujiu was half-unconscious, barely aware of her surroundings.
Yan Chen carried her back and settled everything before summoning Hong Chou to her study. The physician arrived in haste, medical kit in hand.
“Your Highness.”
Being called here so late at night was something wrong?
Having changed into loose inner robes, Yan Chen sat casually by the terrace. Seeing her, she asked, “Tell me, why is the desire during pregnancy so intense?”
It defied logic. Typically, after conception, an omega’s urges should lessen. Yet tonight, Song Shujiu had clung to her relentlessly, their entanglement lasting well past midnight. She had nearly thrown caution to the wind and devoured her completely.
Hong Chou understood immediately. “Well, perhaps Miss Song is simply in excellent health, so…”
Had she really been summoned in the dead of night for this?
Individual differences meant everyone was unique. While most experienced reduced desire during pregnancy, some might actually become more voracious. How was she supposed to control that?
“Examine her later. I’m worried it might have harmed the baby.”
Yan Chen still seemed uneasy.
Hong Chou nodded, thinking to herself you two are truly inseparable.
…
After taking Song Shujiu’s pulse, Hong Chou addressed Yan Chen respectfully. “Miss Song’s constitution is unusual. Her pheromones are exceptionally turbulent compared to most omegas, she requires… considerably more physical comfort.”
Old Hong Chou wished she could bury her face in the ground, desperately searching for neutral words to phrase things as tactfully as possible.
Yan Chen nodded and waved her away.
Hong Chou sighed in relief, afraid she might ask more awkward questions, and hurried out of the room.
Yan Chen walked over and gazed at the sleeping figure. After their intense entanglement, she noticed Song Shu Jiu’s skin had become even more delicate than before, her sleeping visage exquisitely refined. Could it be that each intimate encounter during pregnancy made her increasingly radiant?
Tucking the blanket around her, Yan Chen decided she ought to cherish her even more.
In the palace of the Li Kingdom.
“This is the final form of Night Enchantress.”
The Imperial Tutor reverently presented a porcelain vial. Xiao Yun Li took it and opened the lid, only to recoil two steps from the pungent fragrance, waving her hand dismissively.
The Imperial Tutor immediately stepped forward, sprinkling water around her. “Your Majesty, this potion is extremely potent but has one flaw it dissolves upon contact with water.”
Unlike Dream Incense, Night Enchantress wouldn’t endlessly demand indulgence during passionate fantasies. To awaken midway, one simply needed to sprinkle water on the other person, and they would regain clarity momentarily.
Hearing this, a satisfied smile curled at Xiao Yun Li’s lips.
Perfect. Having endured this frigid wasteland of a kingdom long enough, it was time for her to venture out. Clutching the vial, a glint of ruthless determination flashed in her eyes.
“I hear she’s taken a new lover. How fortuitous, I’ll go enlighten her.”
