After Being Marked By A Love Rival - Chapter 39
Zhao Rongrong stood in place, her mouth wide open in shock. She stammered, “I-Is that really true? You’re just guessing, aren’t you? You’re talking nonsense. Don’t lie to me!”
Mo Yue crossed her arms, “What did I lie to you about?” She shot Zhao Rongrong an annoyed look, then briefly mentioned a few of her previous observations and brought up the day’s events.
“Why do you think Mu Si looked so angry today?”
Zhao Rongrong’s mind quickly turned, and she soon figured it out: “Because she saw Xiao Rong with an Omega?” After saying that, she also felt like that might be the reason, but… how should she put it, it was still too bizarre.
Zhao Rongrong scratched her chin, muttering to herself, “But I still can’t believe it. They are both Alphas, so how could Mu Si… how could she fall for an Alpha?”
“Is it because Xiao Rong is very pretty?”
That part was true. But it wasn’t the whole story.
Mo Yue shrugged, “Who knows? Only Mu Si knows the reason for her affection.”
Zhao Rongrong was deep in thought, with a hint of emotion, “I knew something was off with her expression when she walked in today. Now it looks like that was the expression of jealousy!”
To exaggerate a little, it was like the feeling of being cheated on. Cough, even though she and Xie Rong weren’t a couple yet.
Suddenly, Zhao Rongrong thought of something else, something she had deliberately forgotten and suppressed in her heart.
She poked Mo Yue with her elbow, “Do you still remember when the two of them argued and gave each other the cold shoulder before?”
Mo Yue narrowed her eyes and immediately guessed what Zhao Rongrong was going to say, “You mean to say that the pheromone on Xiao Rong that time was Mu Si’s, and she should have been marked by Mu Si that day.”
Zhao Rongrong blinked her eyes, and after a moment, slowly closed her mouth, “You’re right about everything, that’s exactly it.”
“But, how to put it, sigh, I still feel very incredulous now. What do you think Xiao Rong is thinking?”
Mo Yue glanced at her, “What else could she be thinking? She must be thinking like a normal Alpha. But I think Xiao Rong probably doesn’t know, and her attitude toward Mu Si is still that of a roommate.”
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been angry about the previous mark, nor would she have been so easily appeased after getting angry. This was entirely because Xie Rong didn’t know the thoughts in Qi Musi’s heart; otherwise, things wouldn’t have ended so simply.
Zhao Rongrong shivered from the cold wind below, “So are we supposed to leave them alone for ‘couple time’?”
Mo Yue also felt cold, “What ‘couple time’? We just shouldn’t disturb their conversation. Let’s go sit in the cafeteria; it’s too cold here.”
Zhao Rongrong, halfway through her sentence, had no choice but to follow Mo Yue to the cafeteria.
On the way, she still couldn’t help but ask, “Then when do you think Mu Si will confess her feelings? Can the two of them make it?”
Mo Yue looked at the road ahead, “I think it won’t be long before Mu Si speaks her true feelings, but Xiao Rong…” She didn’t finish the rest of the sentence.
Because, as it currently seemed, Xie Rong didn’t look like she would like an Alpha.
After hearing Qi Musi explain the reason for her initial crush on Zhuang Xinbai, Xie Rong paused.
Because this was not something she had planned, yet now she had subtly probed into Qi Musi’s private life, which made Xie Rong feel an unusual sense of embarrassment.
She pursed her lips, wanting to apologize somewhat.
Qi Musi glanced at her, probably discerning Xie Rong’s feelings, so she smiled, “It’s okay, Xiao Rong, you don’t have to feel embarrassed.”
Xie Rong looked up at her.
Qi Musi sat lazily in her seat, a smile on her lips, “Even if you didn’t ask, I would have explained this to you eventually, so it doesn’t count as deliberately prying; it’s no big deal.”
Xie Rong frowned with some confusion, not understanding the meaning of Qi Musi’s words, but she didn’t ask further. She just nodded, indicating that she understood.
Qi Musi said softly, “So… it’s not that my affection is cheap, or that I change my heart easily, Xiao Rong.” Her voice was a little low, and her eyelids drooped, concealing all the emotions in those beautiful peach blossom eyes. However, the corners of her eyes were upturned, making her look appealing and pitifully attractive.
“I just inadvertently misjudged my internal feelings at the very beginning and mistakenly fell for the wrong person. I only realized the truth halfway through and turned back to the correct path, so… I don’t love everyone I see.” As she spoke, her tone was charming and coquettish, carrying a hint of complaint and pampering.
Xie Rong tilted her head, feeling a tickle in her ear and also inexplicably embarrassed.
She lowered her eyes, “I misunderstood you.”
Qi Musi smiled, “It’s okay, as long as Xiao Rong doesn’t misunderstand now.”
Xie Rong didn’t know how to respond, so she just nodded.
Qi Musi continued, “Actually, I am very devoted and passionate. If I fall for someone, I will keep liking them regardless of their identity.”
She looked at Xie Rong, her words carrying a subtle hint.
But unfortunately, Xie Rong didn’t understand. She only thought Qi Musi was referring to the person’s identity relative to her own.
After all, Qi Musi’s family had a company, involving matters of succession and heirs. It was inevitable that her father would arrange a marriage for her with an Omega from a similar family background.
So, Xie Rong assumed that if Qi Musi liked someone in the future, whether the person was a princess of equal family background or a vastly different Cinderella, she wouldn’t mind.
Therefore, Xie Rong nodded in agreement, encouraging Qi Musi, “That’s very good.”
She didn’t know that Qi Musi’s words, both implicitly and explicitly, referred to the “Alpha” identity.
Qi Musi: “…”
She looked at Xie Rong and realized that the other party genuinely hadn’t caught on at all. She could only sigh inwardly and slowly try again.
She couldn’t hint too directly and scare Xie Rong, nor could she be too vague and unclear.
She twirled a strand of her hair with one hand. It seemed she still had a long way to go.
That night, Zhao Rongrong became the source of the weird atmosphere.
She didn’t say a word the entire evening. Even though the dorm atmosphere was harmonious, she remained very silent.
Even Xie Rong couldn’t help but ask, “Rongrong? Are you okay?”
Zhao Rongrong immediately snapped back, “I’m fine, fine, I’m absolutely fine!”
“…”
However, she didn’t look fine at all.
Qi Musi said interestingly, “Rongrong, Xiao Rong, your names sound quite alike.”
Zhao Rongrong flinched. The words that she hadn’t previously thought twice about, when analyzed with a certain prerequisite in mind, really did seem to pose some issues.
She gasped, feeling that many things had become clear, along with a sense of “so that’s how it is.”
Zhao Rongrong waved her hands, “No, no, that’s not the case. Our ‘Rong’ only applies to Xiao Rong. Just call me Zhao Rongrong. No, just call me Xiao Zhao!”
Mo Yue couldn’t help but hold her forehead, thinking this person was truly an idiot.
Xie Rong frowned, “What are you talking about?”
Zhao Rongrong trembled, “Wuwu, I’m sorry, I think I’ll just go to bed first.” She silently covered her mouth, feeling like the more she spoke, the more mistakes she made, and she might be silenced one day.
Xie Rong looked at her with a frown, then asked Mo Yue, “Is she really okay?”
Mo Yue said, “She’s fine, she’ll be okay in a few days.”
Presumably, a few days would be enough time for Zhao Rongrong to calm down.
Qi Musi looked at Zhao Rongrong’s back, deep in thought. A moment later, after Xie Rong left the room, she opened the balcony door and walked in.
As soon as Zhao Rongrong, who had finished brushing her teeth, saw her approach, she stiffened instinctively, clearly harboring guilt.
Qi Musi narrowed her eyes, then turned her back to the dorm room and looked at Zhao Rongrong.
She crossed her arms, curved her lips, and softly asked, “You guessed it?”
