Li Wanqiu couldn’t stand Ji Jinyan’s cold, abstemious, and overly proper demeanor. The very first time they met, she planted her flag and declared, “I’m not interested in older women.”
She expected Ji Jinyan to fly into a rage. Instead, Ji Jinyan showed not the slightest bit of annoyance; she simply gave a light, nonchalant smile, her gaze fond and condescending, as if looking at a three-year-old child—completely brushing her off.
Irritated, Li Wanqiu realized they were from two different worlds and instinctively tried to keep her distance. Yet, fate continuously bound them together: Ji Jinyan was there to guide her when she was lost, to hold her close when she was drunk, and even ended up staying right next door to her during business trips.
At a banquet, Li Wanqiu found herself drunk once more. Drowsy and reckless, she hooked her fingers into Ji Jinyan’s collar in a deliberate provocation. But before she knew it, Ji Jinyan pinned her wrists together, fixing her with a deep, dark gaze while lecturing her.
Every single word made Li Wanqiu’s face flush bright red. It took her a long moment to process what she had heard before she asked with tear-brimmed eyes, “What did you say? Isn’t your name Jinyan—to be cautious in speech?”
Before she could finish her sentence, a soft kiss sealed her lips. Ji Jinyan raised an eyebrow with a low chuckle, her voice slow and smooth: “That’s right. I do strictly observe Jinyan—prudence in my words—on ordinary days.”
“However, Shenxing—prudence in action—has nothing to do with me.”
Later, Li Wanqiu finally mustered up enough courage to slip her a small handwritten note to test her feelings: Do you dislike me?
That same evening, she received a bouquet of blooming daisies. Tucked among the petals was a note. Opening it, she saw that the words “dislike me” had been crossed out, replaced by a sincere confession:
“Not at all.”
“I can barely contain how much I love you.”
One-Line Summary: I fell completely for you.
Core Theme: Love can transcend everything, pushing both people to grow together into better, more responsible individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.
