- After Being Forced Into a Facial Paralysis, the Villain Said I’m Such a Drama Queen
- Chapter 15 - When Midsummer Raises Her Fist
When Da hu and Er wen arrived, Sheng Xia happened to be finishing her shift. Once the other cashier arrived to relieve her, they stuffed the six hundred yuan Su Tong had given them into Sheng Xia’s hands.
“Boss, take this money. You’d better not take that particular path tonight,” Da hu said after a moment’s thought. If Su Tong had any other tricks up his sleeve, it could be dangerous.
“Giving all the money to me? Why?” Sheng Xia glanced at the six “Grandpa Mao” bills, knowing that Dahu and his companion were actually quite short on cash. “I’m not going to do anything for you just because I took the money.”
The minds of these two were simple and easy to read. She pondered whether she should include them in her actions for the night.
“Boss, we’re giving you the money only because you saved us last time. Of course we have to show you some respect.” They had dropped out of primary school to become hoodlums and had always lived by the code of “paying tribute” to others to keep hanging around this area. Recently, they had offended someone and been chased into the urban village, but their basic outlook hadn’t changed.
They simply admired the strong even if this “Boss” looked much younger than them.
This trait was actually better than many people’s. Sheng Xia smiled and returned the money to them.
“Keep the money for yourselves. And don’t follow me; I’m going home.”
Seeing that Sheng Xia still intended to take that path, Da hu and Er wen grew anxious. “Even though we know you’re very strong, Boss, it’s better to be careful.”
Of course, another reason was that they were planning to sneak off later to give Su Tong a beating and snatch the rest of his money.
Sheng Xia was still wearing her old high school uniform, and with her backpack, she looked like a quintessential “good girl.” She surely wouldn’t approve of something like a robbery. If she kept walking that way, how could they go through with it if they felt guilty in front of her?
Sheng “Good Girl” Xia, seeing their genuine worry, beckoned them over with her finger. “Since you’re so worried, why don’t we go together?”
“Huh? Go do what?”
To do what? To stage a robbery, of course.
Sheng Xia was no pushover. Previously, she hadn’t dealt with Su Tong out of laziness, but now that he was repeatedly provoking her, it was starting to get disgusting.
If people do not provoke me, I will not provoke them; if people provoke me, I will dig up their ancestral graves.
Although Sheng Xia didn’t plan on being that ruthless, since Su Tong kept trying to get her mugged, she decided to fleece him properly this time.
“Later, you two pretend to be defeated, and then leave the rest to me.” Sheng Xia explained some details to Da hu and Er wen. The two, who had never acted in their lives, suddenly became excited.
“Got it, Boss!” They went to the supermarket to buy some ketchup to use as props.
Sheng Xia took a lap around the area to buy them some time, leaving Su Tong waiting foolishly in the alley alone.
Su Tong had been waiting at the mouth of the alley for quite a while without seeing anyone. He was growing impatient, wondering if Da hu and Er wen had taken the money and run. But since they didn’t have phones, he couldn’t contact them.
Just as he was about to send a message in his group chat, Da hu and Er wen finally arrived, holding a bottle of wine and intentionally acting drunk.
“Why are you only getting here now?” Su Tong asked, his expression impatient.
But Er wen looked even more annoyed. “What kind of crappy info did you give us? You said that girl would be here at seven, but we staked out the entrance for ages and she only just came out now!”
“You went to the convenience store entrance?” Su Tong looked at Dahu’s tense body, feeling a bit suspicious.
Seeing this, Er wen smashed the wine bottle directly onto the ground. The bottle shattered at the neck, and the body rolled toward the corner of the wall. “What, you don’t believe us? If you don’t believe us, don’t come looking for us! We were planning to take this big job seriously, but I didn’t expect you to be so ungrateful!”
Er wen replayed the words Sheng Xia had told him. To make his acting natural, he channeled his actual frustration at how low-life Su Tong’s behavior was today; the anger he displayed was several degrees more realistic.
As he spoke, Da hu turned to leave as if he were done with the job, which prompted Su Tong to apologize quickly. “Brother Hu, Brother Wen, it was just a misunderstanding because of our communication issues. Today’s wine is on me, on me!”
With that, he reached into his wallet and pulled out twenty yuan. Da hu and Er wen shared a hidden glance, feeling even more admiration for Sheng Xia; she had predicted this perfectly.
Even a tiny mosquito is still meat; Da hu and Er wen didn’t refuse.
“Brother Hu, what’s the situation now?” Er wen acted the part of the “sharp” one, so Su Tong was usually more willing to communicate with Dahu.
“She’s almost here. We’ll stop her, and then you’ll do the ‘hero saving the beauty’ routine, right?” That was the original plan, but Su Tong had grown impatient after waiting for over an hour and just waved his hand.
“No need. Just strike directly.” He thought about it even if he “saved” Sheng Xia, her attitude might not change much. It was better to just use force to make things go faster.
“Later, make her drink this water, then you guys can go.”
“Fine, give it here.” After taking the mineral water bottle, Er wen reached out again.
Su Tong had just upset them and didn’t want to delay now that Sheng Xia was coming, so he handed over more money directly. Then, he hid in the shadows, preparing to reap the benefits.
About a minute later, Sheng Xia approached. Da hu and Er wen jumped out. “Tsk! This mountain is mine, this—” Before he could finish his line, Er wen smacked him hard on the back of the head.
“Cut the crap, this is a robbery!” The Boss probably had to study when she got back; why waste time?
“Hurry up and hand over the money, or don’t blame me for being rough!”
The lines were so dry they practically had “I am acting” written all over them. To keep from blowing their cover, Sheng Xia stepped forward and sent an uppercut into Dahu’s side.
She knew how to hit someone without it hurting much, and since Da hu knew how to protect himself, it looked like a hard fall but wasn’t serious. He huddled in the corner, took a big mouthful of ketchup, then suddenly “shook” himself up and lunged at Sheng Xia.
Then, before Sheng Xia’s kick even touched him, Da hu staggered back exaggeratedly and fell in front of Su Tong, spitting the ketchup all over the ground with a splat.
“BROTHER!!” Er wen screamed, giving Su Tong a massive fright.
Taking advantage of Su Tong being distracted, Er wen smeared a hand full of ketchup onto his own face. Under the dim light, it looked quite ghastly.
But the acting was so over-the-top that Sheng Xia couldn’t help but look away.
“Boss, come on, hit me hard, I’m not afraid of pain.” Er wen thought Sheng Xia was embarrassed to strike him, so he leaned his face in and took a resounding slap.
That crisp sound echoed in the alley, nearly scaring Su Tong out of his wits.
Because the alley was too dark, he didn’t notice their small movements at all. He didn’t even know if Sheng Xia had actually hit them; he just felt the whole thing was surreal.
He clearly remembered the old Sheng Xia needing help just to open a bottle of water. Why could she now slap a big guy right over to him?
While he was dazed, Sheng Xia took all the money from Er wen and counted it. “You’d better be smart. If you dare come here again, it won’t be settled with just this much money.”
Er wen, with tears in his eyes, delivered his line: “If you have such good skills, why were you afraid of us last time?”
Sheng Xia glanced at the dark shadow in the corner and sneered. “I was just lazy before. If you pull any more of this nonsense, I’ll break your legs.” With that, she picked up a glass bottle from the ground and smashed it hard; it shattered right at Su Tong’s feet.
A shard of glass grazed his ankle, seemingly drawing blood, but Su Tong didn’t dare move, fearing he would be discovered.
He slowly backed away, but suddenly bumped into something. Turning around, he saw Da hu standing behind him at some point.
Da hu’s face was covered in ketchup, and with the light behind him, he looked like a vengeful ghost. Su Tong shrieked, “AAAAAHHHH!!!”
Startled, Da hu instinctively screamed back. For a moment, the alley was filled with screams especially Su Tong’s, who was a mess of snot and tears until he eventually fainted from sheer terror.
Sheng Xia, who had been prepared to say more harsh words, and the actors Da hu and Erwen, were momentarily stunned.
Da hu licked the ketchup from the corner of his mouth, looking a bit dazed. “He fainted on his own. I didn’t do anything.”
Now that Su Tong was unconscious, the rest of the play couldn’t continue. Sheng Xia decided to skip straight to the final step.
The water likely contained something nasty. Originally, Sheng Xia wanted Su Tong to taste it himself, but now that he was out cold, there was no fun in it. She simply opened the bottle and poured it all over Su Tong’s face.
Tossing the bottle into a trash can, Sheng Xia patted her hands. “Let’s go.”
“Boss, should we take the money in his wallet?” Er wen looked at Su Tong’s bulging pocket, feeling tempted. If it were before, he would have moved already, but now he had to ask for Sheng Xia’s opinion.
Seeing Sheng Xia shake her head, he couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Then he heard her say, “If you take it, he’ll definitely suspect you. When the time comes, you can claim the information was wrong and squeeze another sum out of him.”
“However, if he still dares to look for you after this, he’s definitely planning something even more disgusting.” Sheng Xia tucked her bangs behind her ear, a cold glint flashing in her eyes as she looked down.
But when her gaze fell on Er wen’s face, her tone softened slightly. “Later, use an egg to soothe that. I hit you a bit too hard.”
Sheng Xia was about to leave, but her ears twitched. Seeing Su Tong suddenly stop shifting, she knew he had woken up and was playing dead.
She feigned a kick toward him, and Su Tong immediately scrambled out of the way.
When he saw Da hu and Er wen blocking the alley exit, Su Tong finally realized this was all a plot by Sheng Xia. “What are you trying to do?! Do you know you’re breaking the law?”
Hearing this, the expressions of the three were filled with mockery. You know what you were doing?
Su Tong realized his mistake after speaking, but he still stiffened his neck and argued, “Sheng Xia, you know how much I like you! Today I only looked for you because I wanted to connect with you and apologize, but what do you mean by this?!”
The thickness of his skin was incredible.
Sheng Xia’s tone became hesitant. “Ah, yeah, what am I doing?”
“I am, of course… loving you well.” Her voice was light and airy, and in the lightless alley, it sounded rather eerie.
Da hu rubbed the goosebumps on his arms and reached down to pick up Su Tong’s phone to use as a light.
Su Tong usually liked to show off and had spent a lot of money on a smartphone. Da hu found it novel, fumbling with the buttons to light up the screen. Then, his expression instantly turned into that “confused elderly man on a subway” meme.
He poked Erwen. “Er wen, what is this?”
Su Tong, who had been playing dead, suddenly began to struggle when he saw them about to open his phone, lunging forward to snatch it back.
He knew that if the things inside were discovered, he would be ruined.
Such strange behavior naturally made Sheng Xia alert. With a sharp look in her eyes, she subdued Su Tong in a few moves.
Glimpsing the screen, Sheng Xia struck with real force. A punch landed, and the arc of two teeth flying out made the ghosts in the livestream room feel a sense of profound familiarity.
Da hu and Er wen instinctively covered their noses, then realized and covered their mouths. Holy crap… that looks painful.
The Boss had definitely held back when she hit them before!
