- Chapter 25.2 [End of the World 1] - "Don't you like any of these toys?"
The Spring Festival atmosphere was in full swing, and everyone gathered at the Xue family home to make dumplings.
They were supposed to have eaten them on New Year’s Eve, but after Xue Yingxian’s proposal, they ate at the restaurant. So, the tradition was moved to today.
All the mothers were young misses who didn’t know how to do much in the kitchen, but Xian Ning was an exception. Her dumplings looked perfect.
Zhong Ning looked at the dumplings Xian Ning had made. “Sister Xian Ning, I had no idea you had this talent.”
Xian Ning smiled and said, “It’s actually very simple. Here, let me show you.”
Xian Ning taught her step by step, and Zhong Ning followed along, learning very seriously.
Mrs. Lu looked at the dumpling dough her own mother was making. “I thought you were the one who taught Xian Ning how to make dumplings.”
Mrs. Xue spread out the dough in her palm and shrugged. “Apparently not.”
Xian Ning heard her but didn’t plan on explaining. She couldn’t tell them it was a skill she had brought with her, could she?
Making dumplings took up most of the morning. They barely had time to do anything else. Thankfully, the family still had a chef who hadn’t gone on vacation yet, and Mrs. Lu and Mrs. Zhong each made a few of their best dishes, so it was pretty much all taken care of.
Mrs. Xue tried to help several times, but Xian Ning and Xue Yingxian shooed her out of the kitchen. Others might not have known, but they had both suffered from her horrible cooking before and didn’t want anyone else to go through it.
At six o’clock that evening, a group of people sat around the table, sharing their hopes for the new year. Then, they raised their glasses together.
Xian Ning took a sip of juice and put down her glass. Her eyes scanned everyone at the table and finally landed on Xue Yingxian.
In front of her was a glass of red wine, and a small glass decanter held white wine.
A dark gleam flashed in Xian Ning’s eyes, and a meaningful smile appeared on her lips.
Go on and drink. I’ll see how I’m going to deal with you when you’re drunk.
Xue Yingxian seemed to sense something. She turned to look at her and asked with a smile, “What’s wrong?”
Xian Ning shook her head. “Nothing.”
Xue Yingxian took her hand, lightly rubbing the ring on her finger.
“Is it too noisy?”
The elders were chatting, their voices occasionally rising or filled with laughter. Although it wasn’t harsh, it was still loud.
“No,” Xian Ning said. “I like a lively atmosphere.”
A lively atmosphere felt more like home. What was the point of being alone?
Xue Yingxian’s cheeks were a little flushed. Xian Ning wasn’t sure if she was already drunk. She hoped she would drink more, but she didn’t raise her glass.
“Aren’t you going to have a toast with Uncle Zhong?”
Xue Yingxian stared at her for a few seconds and then smiled as if she had figured something out.
Xian Ning felt a little guilty. She was about to explain when she heard Xue Yingxian say, “Okay.”
“I should indeed have a toast with him. If it weren’t for him, I would have frozen to death back then.”
She got up, holding the glass of white wine. Mr. Zhong was surprised at first, but then he gallantly downed his drink.
“No need for formalities. In my heart, you will always be my daughter.”
Xue Yingxian smiled and sat down.
Xian Ning watched as she drank another glass and thought, This is great. I won’t have to put in any effort.
After a while, Zhong Ning got a phone call and left, saying she had a date with Chu Ling.
“No wonder she’s been so distracted all night,” Mrs. Zhong said.
Xue Yingxian leaned on Xian Ning’s shoulder. “I think I’m drunk.”
Drunk already? Xian Ning was secretly pleased.
From what she remembered, Xue Yingxian was good at holding her liquor. Maybe tonight, the mix of red and white wine had made her drunk so quickly.
Xian Ning helped her up, explained the situation to the elders, and then took her upstairs.
As soon as they entered the room, Xue Yingxian said she was hot and started to take off her clothes, leaving Xian Ning at a loss.
“Don’t take them off yet, you’ll catch a cold. Take them off in the bathroom. Be a good girl, okay?”
Xian Ning coaxed her like a child, dragging her into the bathroom and trying to get her to shower by herself. But Xue Yingxian grabbed her around the waist.
“I want to go with you.”
Xian Ning had no choice but to shower with her, which took a long time.
A drunk Xue Yingxian was even clingier than usual. Xian Ning was afraid she would disappear if she let her go for a second, so she stuck to her like glue.
By the time she finally got her hair dry and helped her to bed, Xian Ning was completely exhausted.
“I’m so tired. Drunk people really are like dead pigs.”
She muttered softly to herself, but her eyes lit up when she saw the box under the cabinet.
She pulled the box out and stared at the variety of toys inside. Her face flushed.
These things were… all of them…
She was learning so much.
If she weren’t doing this mission, how would she ever have seen these things?
Some were easy to recognize, but others she had no idea what they were for. Xian Ning was having a hard time and couldn’t choose one.
“Want me to help?”
The voice from behind her startled Xian Ning. She turned around. The person who had been lying on the bed like a “dead pig” was now behind her, looking at her leisurely. She had no idea how long she had been watching.
“You, you, you!”
Xian Ning was caught in the act. Her tongue was tied.
Seeing that she was about to fall to the floor, Xue Yingxian wrapped her arms around her and pointed at the things in the box.
“The pink one is a suction toy. That one is for…”
“Ah! I know!”
Xian Ning blushed, cutting her off. She grabbed a random one without even looking and pressed Xue Yingxian onto the bed.
“I’m in charge tonight. You just stay here and behave.”
Xue Yingxian raised an eyebrow. “Mmhmm.”
Seeing her so calm and composed, Xian Ning’s teeth ached with frustration. She leaned down and bit Xue Yingxian’s neck, her sharp canines piercing her skin.
She didn’t stay there for long. Her lips moved down…
Xue Yingxian was, in fact, well-behaved. She didn’t do anything except wrap her arms around Xian Ning’s waist.
Xian Ning did what Xue Yingxian had done before, taking care of every spot. The toy in her hand was sweaty.
Xue Yingxian’s face was flushed, and her eyes were starting to get misty, with a hint of desire hidden deep within them.
Xian Ning looked at the toy in her hand, then at the place where it was supposed to go. She felt the size was wrong and decided to do some preparation first.
After a long while, besides her fingertips trembling, nothing else happened. Xue Yingxian propped herself up on one hand and grabbed Xian Ning’s hand with the other. Her eyes, still a little drunk, were both enchanting and dangerous.
“You went through all that trouble to get me drunk, and you’re just going to stare?”
Xian Ning looked at her, almost getting lost in those deep eyes.
She knew everything.
Xue Yingxian held Xian Ning’s hand. “I’ll show you,” she said softly.
She didn’t care who was in charge. She just wanted Xian Ning to be happy. If this was what she wanted to do, she would let her.
As long as Xian Ning was happy, nothing else mattered.
Xian Ning’s fingers touched something warm and slick. It was an incredible feeling. A raw, restless energy rushed to her head, making her want to feel more.
When things were getting good, Xue Yingxian tried to take her hand back, but Xian Ning grabbed her wrist, bringing her finger to her lips and gently biting it.
She said, “Yours is sweet, too.”
Xue Yingxian’s mind exploded. Her vision blurred.
The heat from her body seemed to turn into tears. A layer of mist covered Xue Yingxian’s phoenix eyes. When she blinked, the tears fell down her cheeks, a beautiful sight that took one’s breath away.
Seeing her tears, Xian Ning knew she liked it, so she worked even harder.
Xue Yingxian could only hold herself up at first, but she quickly lost all her strength and fell back onto the soft mattress. Xian Ning leaned over her, kissing her lips and cheeks, and gently biting her ear.
“Do you like it, baby?”
Xue Yingxian hugged her neck, rubbing her face against hers. “I love it. I love everything you do to me, Sister.”
Her voice was soft and sweet, and she was so well-behaved.
Xian Ning’s heart melted. She thought she should do this more often.
Xue Yingxian was a beginner, after all, and she quickly went limp in Xian Ning’s arms. Xian Ning held her hand up to her face. Her finger looked wet as if it had been dipped in water.
Xue Yingxian was uncharacteristically shy. She buried her face in Xian Ning’s chest, her hands on the bathrobe trembling slightly.
Xian Ning curved her lips into a mischievous smile and picked up the toy she had thrown on the side.
“You said, what was this for again?”
Xue Yingxian glanced at it. “I don’t want that one.”
“Then what do you want?” Xian Ning asked.
“You.”
Xue Yingxian said, before flipping Xian Ning onto the bed. She straddled her, her eyes dark as she looked down at her.
Before Xian Ning could react, she grabbed Xian Ning’s hand…
For the rest of the night, Xue Yingxian did most of the work. Xian Ning only had to provide her hand.
The small boat was rocking violently, and it seemed to be struggling to withstand the waves. It moved sluggishly, and their breaths grew more and more rapid. But the storm showed no mercy, speeding up.
Xue Yingxian was lying on Xian Ning’s chest, panting heavily. Her pupils were still misty, both hazy and clear, making her look like a work of art.
Xian Ning touched the wet spot on her stomach and chuckled. Xue Yingxian looked up at her. “What are you laughing at?”
Xian Ning kissed her nose. “You’re adorable.”
Xian Ning wasn’t as unrestrained as Xue Yingxian. She was afraid Xue Yingxian couldn’t handle it, so she wondered if they should just leave it at that for tonight and use the toys another time.
Xue Yingxian seemed to have read her mind. She slowly propped herself up, looking down at her, licking her lips.
“You’re not a very good top. I’m going to have to teach you.”
Then, she slid off the bed, rummaging through the box and finally finding a suitable one.
Xian Ning saw a strange-looking object. She vaguely guessed what it was for.
Xue Yingxian pulled her up, leaning close. “This way, we can both play together.”
Xian Ning looked at her, her eyes as seductive as a fairy’s. She thought to herself that she would die at her hands sooner or later.
*********
After the new year, it was time to go back to school. On the first day of class, Xian Ning got a call from Luhan.
Neither of them knew what to say. Xian Ning was the one to break the silence. “Sister, are you doing well over there?”
“I’m fine,” Luhan replied.
Xian Ning knew she was lying. Otherwise, why would she have lost so much weight when she came back?
The question was meaningless, as Xian Ning already knew the answer.
“When are you coming back?”
Luhan was silent for a moment. “I might not be coming back. The company is planning to expand its business here, and I’m in charge of running the branch.”
It sounded like a promotion, but Luhan’s voice didn’t sound happy at all.
“Have you decided for sure?”
Luhan fell completely silent. She just didn’t know how to face Xian Ning. She hadn’t planned on abandoning her family.
“Doesn’t sound like you’ve made up your mind.” Xian Ning’s voice was gentle. “Then come back. Mom and Dad miss you, and… I miss you, too.”
Luhan choked up. “Xian Ning, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I forgive you. No matter what, we’re still sisters. Everything will be fine once we talk it out. Call me before you come back. I’ll come get you.”
Luhan gave a small, almost imperceptible “mhm” and then quickly hung up. She clutched her phone so tightly her knuckles turned white.
Can we… can we still be sisters?
Luhan crouched down, sobbing softly.

After that phone call, Xian Ning suddenly felt a lot lighter. The pressure she had been feeling seemed to disappear all at once.
In the second half of her sophomore year, her classes suddenly became a lot more demanding. Xue Yingxian was busy running back and forth between her company and school. Their time together was greatly reduced, and Xian Ning felt relieved.
If they had continued at their previous pace, she would have died young.
After her Saturday elective class, Xian Ning was ready to go home and get some rest. As soon as she walked out of the school gates, she saw Xue Yingxian leaning against her car.
Xue Yingxian waved at her. When Xian Ning didn’t react, she ran over and hugged her.
“Why are you ignoring me? You’ve been avoiding me all week. Something’s not right.”
Xue Yingxian was rubbing against her, but then she suddenly stopped. “You didn’t fall for someone else, did you?” she asked pitifully.
Xian Ning’s face was a study in speechlessness. She pouted. “I can’t even finish a day of classes. Where would I find time to fall for someone else?”
“If you’re not cheating on me, then why are you so cold? Are you not interested in me anymore? Has the novelty worn off?”
She had come up with another imaginary scenario, looking as if she were about to burst into tears.
Xian Ning couldn’t deal with this crybaby anymore. She said helplessly, “No. I just don’t want you to be so tired. You have so many classes and have to go to work. You should get more rest and not burn yourself out.”
Xue Yingxian was immediately happy, knowing Xian Ning was just worried about her. She nudged her head toward Xian Ning. “Then touch me. I won’t be tired if you touch me.”
Xian Ning touched her head and was immediately hugged tightly.
“Full health! Sister, let’s go on a date!”
Xian Ning was shoved into the passenger seat. Xue Yingxian got in, buckled her seatbelt, and pecked her on the lips.
“Let’s go. We’re getting some French food.”
Xian Ning looked at how energetic she was. A smile unconsciously formed on her face.
She finally understood that the cold and mature heir to the Xue Corporation was just a child.
But her immaturity was only for Xian Ning to see. Wasn’t that a form of favoritism?
Xian Ning didn’t really like foreign food. Her stomach wasn’t that refined. No matter what she ate, she always thought Chinese food was the best.
After dinner, they took a walk by the river. The wind was still a bit chilly. Xue Yingxian wrapped her jacket around Xian Ning, sharing her body heat.
On the way back, Xue Yingxian drove onto a road that led to neither the Xue nor the Lu family home.
When the car drove into a yard, Xian Ning realized that this was a standalone house Xue Yingxian had bought as their marital home.
“If it’s our marital home, then why are we here now?”
Xue Yingxian took her hand. “I couldn’t wait any longer.”
She wanted to live a life with Xian Ning now. As for the marital home, they could always buy a new one later, one that Xian Ning liked.
As soon as they entered, Xue Yingxian started kissing her, not even giving Xian Ning a moment to breathe.
“We haven’t slept together in weeks,” Xue Yingxian said, feeling wronged.
Xian Ning didn’t have a chance to speak, so she just went with it.
After she had her fill of kissing, Xue Yingxian carried her into the bathroom. The box of toys was sitting on the counter.
Xian Ning said, “You… you’re not going to, are you?”
Deep down, she still couldn’t believe Xue Yingxian would want to do this.
Xue Yingxian laughed softly, her voice seductive. “Come on. Pick one you like.”
Xian Ning felt like crying. She shakily reached out a finger.
A static sound rang in her head, and then she heard 033’s voice.
System 033: [The current world mission has failed. Would you like to proceed to the next world?]
Xian Ning turned to look at Xue Yingxian. Her eyes were filled with so much love for her.
“No.”
If she went to the next world now, this little puppy would be heartbroken. After all, at her core, she was a crybaby.
033 was silent for a few seconds.
[The host has refused to proceed to the next world. You will live in the current world until your natural death.]
Then it disappeared without another word. But Xian Ning was not in a state to talk to it anyway.
Xue Yingxian kissed the side of her mouth. Her hand was holding a variety of little toys of different colors.
“Since Sister can’t choose, let’s try them all.”
Xian Ning was shocked. She quickly pushed her away. “Wait! No! Mmm…”
The water from the shower poured down, drowning out the other sounds. But if you listened carefully, you could hear a thing or two.
Outside, the moonlight was bright, and the tree shadows swayed. The atmosphere was incredibly romantic.
A ray of moonlight snuck into the room, making the atmosphere even more sensuous. The spring colors were so captivating.
