“Miss Zhu, are we starting today’s lecture from Chapter 3, Section 2: Corporate Planning and Development?”
A professor with silver brown hair and crystal blue eyes stood before a standing white square screen, holding a retractable thin teaching wand in her hand. She looked directly at Zhu Lingyi, speaking in fluent German.
“Let us begin.”
In the past, she would have exchanged a few sentences with the German professor to practice her oral skills.
However, Zhu Lingyi rarely spoke much today; instead, she directly gave the instruction to the professor. She likewise replied in fluent German. She flipped through the pages of the book one by one, not even realizing when she had flipped a few pages too many.
It was the German professor who reminded her, “Miss Zhu, you seem to have flipped three pages too many. Please turn the book to page 328.”
Zhu Lingyi lowered her eyes to glance at the bottom right corner.
“My apologies, Professor.”
She flipped back three pages, picked up her pen, sat upright, and looked up at the professor.
Zhu Lingyi’s gaze remained calm and devoid of desire, like the mist floating over a still pond; the lingering clouds and smoke made it impossible for people to see through her.
The professor, however, quietly locked eyes with her for two seconds.
A sharp light burst from those lake-blue eyes, as if she possessed a pair of wise eyes that could see through the human heart.
“Miss Zhu, I believe there is no need for you to attend this class today.”
She reached out her slender hand and brushed a strand of hair hanging by her ear.
The lake-blue eyes moved slightly, tenderly watching the surge beneath Zhu Lingyi’s calmness.
A trace of confusion flashed through Zhu Lingyi’s eyes, “Professor…”
The German professor smiled and shook her head gently. She closed the book, walked to her with the crisp sound of high heels, and reached out to lightly rest her hand on Zhu Lingyi’s shoulder.
“You need to adjust your state properly. I hope that the next time I come, you will face me in your best condition.”
Her eyes flickered with the light of wisdom and maternal instinct; she had always been composed in front of Zhu Lingyi.
Seeing the professor insist, Zhu Lingyi’s voice turned slightly hoarse as she called out, “Jiang Feiwan.”
The assistant, who had been waiting outside the door, immediately pushed the door open and entered upon hearing Zhu Lingyi call her.
As soon as Jiang Feiwan entered, she saw that the room was already in a state as if class had ended.
She hesitated for a moment, looking down to scan her watch.
After confirming there was no mistake, she finally said, “Little President Zhu, only fifteen minutes have passed. There are still two hours and forty-five minutes until the end of class.”
Jiang Feiwan was somewhat stunned.
Why did class end so early today?
Whenever Zhu Lingyi had a class, it lasted at least three hours, and sometimes even more than six hours.
Why today.
“Escort Professor Ludivina out.”
Although Jiang Feiwan was very surprised, she still followed Zhu Lingyi’s instructions and escorted the German professor out.
While escorting Professor Ludivina out, Jiang Feiwan asked the professor apprehensively in German that was not very fluent, “Please forgive my meddling, but why are you leaving so early today? Do you have other business activities?”
Professor Ludivina smiled and shook her head. She opened the door, and the wind blew her long silver-brown hair.
“My time is very sufficient. It is simply that Miss Zhu’s state is not fully invested in learning; therefore, the subsequent class time would be a waste. There is no need for me to stay any longer.”
Professor Ludivina’s teaching was famously strict. She had an eccentric temper and always acted according to her whims; she appeared very approachable, but in reality, she was extremely difficult to talk to.
She neither pursued fame nor fortune, nor did she fish for reputation; she focused solely on her field and profession, dedicating her entire life to education.
Any student taught by Professor Ludivina, even the mediocre ones, could manage a small company reasonably well; even if they were barely hanging on, they could ultimately rely on the experience she imparted to maintain the company and avoid bankruptcy or destitution.
And Zhu Lingyi was her proudest student. Zhu Lingyi had never disappointed her, which was why her education was particularly strict.
When Jiang Feiwan returned to the first-floor study after seeing the professor off, she found that Zhu Lingyi was no longer inside.
Jiang Feiwan was startled. She quickly caught a servant who was wiping a vase in the living room and asked, “Where is Little President Zhu?”
The servant pointed upstairs, “Little President Zhu went upstairs.”
Jiang Feiwan ran up to the second floor three steps at a time and pushed open the door to the second-floor study.
Zhu Lingyi was not in the study.
Jiang Feiwan was stunned again.
A suspicion arose in her heart it was faint, yet inexplicably certain. Jiang Feiwan closed the door hesitantly, turned around, and walked toward the room at the very end of the second floor.
The door was not closed; it was half-open.
And at a glance, Jiang Feiwan saw the figure she had just been searching for.
The glucose in Miss Qin’s IV bag had reached the bottom, and Yu Xian had not yet returned.
The boss was sitting by Miss Qin’s bed, gently and carefully pulling out the needle, applying a small piece of gauze, and picking up Qin Shuyue’s thin wrist to tuck it into the blanket.
Then she picked up Qin Shuyue’s right hand, which also had a small gauze patch on it, staring at the back of her hand almost in a daze.
Watching this scene with wide eyes, Jiang Feiwan was stunned for a second, finding it truly incredible.
She seemed unable to believe that her boss had skipped a class just to pull out a needle for Miss Qin?
She had never seen her boss like this.
She especially did not understand her boss’s actions.
Was the boss very familiar with this Miss Qin?
While she was reminiscing and pondering, a servant’s soft reminder came from beside her, “Assistant Jiang, I need to deliver the nutritional meal for Miss Qin.”
Only then did Jiang Feiwan realize that she was standing in the middle of the doorway, preventing anyone from entering or leaving.
She said “oh, oh” twice and quickly stepped aside.
The servant entered the room, greeted Zhu Lingyi, and placed the tray on the bedside table.
She requested instructions, “Little President Zhu, do I need to wake Miss Qin now?”
Zhu Lingyi gave a soft “mm,” released her hand to let it hang by her side, and dropped a sentence: “Wait until she finishes her meal and supervise her to take her medicine before you leave.”
Subsequently, she took a step forward, approaching the maid.
Zhu Lingyi was more than half a head taller than the maid. As her cold gaze swept past, the maid’s head lowered even further.
“Do you know what to say?”
The maid nodded slightly, “Yes. I will watch Miss Qin take her medicine; it is entirely my own initiative.”
Zhu Lingyi nodded very with satisfaction, then turned and walked out gracefully.
Almost at the instant she turned to exit the door, Zhu Lingyi spoke to Jiang Feiwan, who was sneaking along behind her with a hunched back, saying in a low voice, “Jiang Feiwan.”
Jiang Feiwan’s scalp felt numb. She walked to Zhu Lingyi’s side with a red and thick neck, clearly not having fully digested the embarrassment from that day.
“Little President Zhu.”
Zhu Lingyi, on the other hand, seemed to have completely forgotten the events of that day. Or rather, she simply did not care about what had happened.
“The itinerary.”
Jiang Feiwan uttered an “oh.” She did not pull out an itinerary list but instead spoke fluently and eloquently, “In one hour, at 8:30 PM, there is a meeting for the branch company, which will take about half an hour to an hour. After that is the invitation letter sent by the school; the school will hold an arts festival in fifteen days.”
She paused, swallowed, and continued, “After that is the New Year’s Eve gala. However, regarding specific activities, the school has asked for your opinion. Tomorrow’s itinerary is no different from the day before yesterday’s.”
After speaking, she raised her head proudly.
As an excellent assistant, having a memory system that makes the boss look at her with new respect is essential.
However, Zhu Lingyi only gave her a light glance, her gaze devoid of joy or sorrow.
Jiang Feiwan’s puffed-out chest deflated slightly.
“Not bad.”
Seeing the corners of Jiang Feiwan’s brows droop slightly downward, Zhu Lingyi finally spoke to give her a fair evaluation.
“Hehe”
Jiang Feiwan rubbed the back of her neck, a flush of pink appearing on her face.
Zhu Lingyi walked briskly across the hallway and pushed open the door to the second-floor study.
Jiang Feiwan stopped at the study door.
Zhu Lingyi asked her, “Did you ask the professor when the next class is?”
Jiang Feiwan nodded, “I did.”
The next moment, she frowned again, “Professor Ludivina said she is at your service anytime.”
Zhu Lingyi’s gaze darkened, and her hand gripping the doorknob tightened.
Her eyes flickered slightly, a trace of indiscernible emotion passing through.
Then she asked Jiang Feiwan an unexpected question, “Jiang Feiwan, am I being too indulgent with Qin Shuyue?”
Jiang Feiwan was stunned for a moment, and immediately many images and people flashed through her mind.
They were all Zhu Lingyi’s previous roommates.
Even if they had hidden little schemes, they never dared to publicly violate the rules set by Zhu Lingyi.
Even Jiang Feiwan herself, the personal assistant who managed her food, clothing, housing, transportation, and itinerary, had to honestly and dutifully follow Zhu Lingyi’s regulations.
Qin Shuyue.
Jiang Feiwan didn’t know how to put it.
Qin Shuyue looked like a frail and very well-behaved young girl; she didn’t seem like the type who would deliberately go against Zhu Lingyi.
She didn’t dare to defend Qin Shuyue, as she had only met her a few times and didn’t know her very well.
After several considerations, Jiang Feiwan gave a very balanced answer, “Perhaps Miss Qin has something going on? Little President Zhu, do you need me to check Miss Qin’s.”
Zhu Lingyi shook her head, “No need.” She gave a light sneer, “Do I need to waste so much energy and time on her?”
“Even if she dies, it has nothing to do with me.”
With that, Zhu Lingyi gave a large push and closed the study door.
With a “bang,” the forceful wind from the closing door blew into Jiang Feiwan’s face.
Leaving behind half a floor of residual wind.
Jiang Feiwan dragged out a long confused sound, “Eh… Huh?”
Did she upset her boss again?
She shook her head.
This boss of hers was beautiful and wealthy, and she was never stingy with her subordinates. Even if her temper was unpredictable, it was understandable.
For a young lady of a wealthy and powerful family, a director who controlled over 80% of the group’s shares, it would be truly strange if her temper were unusually good.
Jiang Feiwan picked up her phone, opened the timer to count down one hour, and after confirming there were no errors, she turned and left.
On the other side, the maid had already woken Qin Shuyue.
Or rather, Qin Shuyue was woken up by a fright.
She was dreaming and scared herself awake.
She dreamed of a monster covered in tentacles with an ugly and terrifying appearance. It stuck out its long, slimy, and cold tongue to lick her left hand. After being satisfied, it turned its gaze greedily toward her right hand.
After ruining both of her hands, this ugly and terrifying monster actually moved its gaze to her chest, its eyes naked and full of longing.
With a scream of “ah,” Qin Shuyue sat up in fright.
Upon opening her eyes, she saw the maid standing at the bedside, her gaze slightly surprised.
The maid seemed to be pondering which gentle way to use to wake her, but Qin Shuyue had startled herself awake. This commotion also gave the maid a fright.
Noticing the sweat on Qin Shuyue’s forehead, the maid picked up a handmade silk handkerchief and pressed it gently against Qin Shuyue’s still-shaken forehead.
However, Qin Shuyue instinctively dodged, her eyes instantly changing from dazed to panicked.
The maid was also stunned by that frightened, deer-like gaze; she didn’t know whether to wipe the forehead with the silk handkerchief or not.
In the end, it was Qin Shuyue who reached out and pressed against the silk handkerchief.
Her voice was dark and hoarse, “Thank you. I’ll do it myself.”
The maid nodded and then released her hand.
Qin Shuyue wiped the sweat from her forehead; the sweat soaked more than half of the silk handkerchief. She lowered her head, looking at the darker parts of the silk handkerchief, her eyes gradually filling with disgust.
The maid reached out to take the handkerchief, but before she could, Qin Shuyue threw it into the trash can.
“Too dirty.” Qin Shuyue closed her eyes.
The maid was stunned.
“Miss Qin, what… what are you saying?”
“So dirty.”
The silk handkerchief was stained with her sweat.
How disgusting.
She was so disgusting.
The maid had absolutely no idea what she was thinking.
Just looking at the intense gaze of disgust and loathing projecting from Qin Shuyue’s eyes, the maid stood in place helplessly. She glanced at the trash can, wanting to reach out and pick it up.
“Don’t pick it up!”
Qin Shuyue’s voice almost changed its tone.
She clutched her head in pain, her body shivering uncontrollably.
The maid had never seen such a scene and stood paralyzed in place.
It wasn’t exactly that she was scared; she had simply never seen anything like this.
Usually, when Zhu Lingyi got angry, it was mostly silence a silence so extreme that the psychological pressure it created would explode from everyone’s hearts, but she had never seen Qin Shuyue lose her temper.
She didn’t know what on earth had happened to Qin Shuyue.
The maid pointed tentatively at the meal, “Miss Qin, this is the nutritional meal prepared for you, you… Oh, Miss Qin!”
The maid was shocked.
Who would have thought that a little person who had been on an IV for nearly half a month would still have such energy, even putting on shoes and throwing on clothes with movements as fast as if she were flying? The whole process was as smooth as flowing water, as if it had been practiced countless times.
Qin Shuyue threw on a coat and walked out.
The maid chased after her with the nutritional meal and medicine.
“Miss Qin, your body is weak, you need to eat the nutritional meal and take the medicine!”
“What are you shouting about?”
During the conversation, Qin Shuyue had already flown downstairs in one bound. Jiang Feiwan happened to be sitting on the sofa, currently holding an itinerary list and carefully confirming it. Hearing the noise upstairs and knowing Zhu Lingyi was studying in the study, she immediately called out to the two of them.
“Stop shouting. If you disturb Little President Zhu, every single one of you will have to get back to the old mansion.” Jiang Feiwan pointed at the maid and said, then looked at Qin Shuyue, “You too. If you disturb Little President Zhu, you have to get lost too!”
The maid explained somewhat helplessly, “Assistant Jiang, it’s Miss Qin who refuses to eat or take her medicine… She just ran out like this, and I shouted a couple of times out of urgency. I’m sorry, I broke the rules.”
Jiang Feiwan had no intention of being pedantic about these rules; she waved her hand, “Fine, I’m not blaming you.”
She turned her gaze to Qin Shuyue, “Eating and taking medicine are both Little President Zhu’s orders. You wouldn’t want her to know that you’re feigning compliance with her commands, would you? The consequences of her finding out… Qin Shuyue, you wouldn’t want to be kicked out of the dormitory, would you?”
According to the past, anyone who broke Zhu Lingyi’s rules was kicked out without exception.
Qin Shuyue paused, the light in her eyes dimming a bit. She nodded absentmindedly, “I understand, I will do as told.”
Subsequently, she picked up the tray from the maid’s hand, walked to the dining table, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
Seeing her behave and go to eat, Jiang Feiwan’s heart finally relaxed.
“Alright, you go and watch her to make sure she eats the medicine.”
Jiang Feiwan sat back on the sofa, picked up her pen and the itinerary list, and began to double-check again.
