After Becoming Pregnant With The Empress Cat's Cub - Chapter 38.1
Ju Rin’s eyelashes fluttered. She thought she didn’t want to admit that. She also felt she shouldn’t be such a… shallow person.
But if not that, then what was it? Two people meeting for the first time, it couldn’t be that their stranger souls were attracting each other…
Thinking of the human’s messy, illogical talk about souls, something about smiling brilliantly even after being struck by the world. Ju Rin felt like laughing. This human always had so many outrageous ideas.
Following that, Ju Rin naturally thought of the way back to the quarters just now. In the night, the human had kissed her jaw and then her cheek. She kissed all the way up, and her heart jumped all the way up… she almost lost control again…
Ju Rin retracted her gaze from the large bed. She actually didn’t want to admit it, but she was worried that once she entered this door, she wouldn’t be able to control her mental power…
In Ju Rin’s heart, failing to control her mental power and revealing her beast form was an extremely pathetic thing. She didn’t want to be that pathetic in front of the human…
Ju Rin looked at the human again. But tonight, another kind of “pathetic” had been unavoidably exposed to the human…
She had been to the human’s home and knew how a normal family interacted. Even though her parents were the King and Queen of a nation, Ju Rin still felt pathetic because of their lack of love. Especially when she saw the heartache in the human’s eyes… she knew she had discovered it. The biscuit the human suddenly handed over was sweet, but it couldn’t dissolve that bitterness.
Ju Rin exhaled. Forget it. The hesitation in her amber eyes melted away like snow.
Although the human had many flawed arguments, some things she said were right. Since they were already married and would live together in the future, they should understand each other and cultivate feelings. She should also be honest about her true self and use that true self to cultivate feelings with the human.
With this thought, Ju Rin reached a decision. A light sparked in her amber eyes, as if reflected by the stars in the human’s eyes.
Lan Ye blinked, looking at the person whose expression suddenly softened. She guessed this person, who had been silent for so long, finally had something to say. This silent contest was finally coming to an end.
She waited quietly, even starting a countdown of ten in her head. If the person in front of her didn’t speak by the time she finished, there really would be no more chance!
The guards at the corner, seeing the two silent for so long, had changed from peeking secretly to watching openly. The guards on both sides even exchanged looks across the distance, as if asking each other if they knew what was happening. From their perspective, they could only see the Princess, the human had already entered, but the light showed she was right by the door. What were they doing? Why weren’t they speaking or going inside? Did they have a fight?
Shouldn’t there be a sound if they were fighting? The guards were full of confusion.
Amidst the confusion, footsteps echoed from the end of the empty corridor.
Lola had seen off the doctor and returned a call to Chief Minnie who was concerned about the human. She was now bringing people to help the human bathe. Behind her, attendants carried nightclothes, spare undergarments, and the dress prepared for the human tomorrow morning.
Rounding the corner, Lola immediately saw the Princess at the door and the human behind the half-open door. Puzzled as to why these two were still standing at the door after being back for so long, and worried something was wrong, Lola quickened her pace.
Lan Ye heard the footsteps and looked over Ju Rin’s shoulder. Seeing people coming, she reached the last three counts of her countdown.
Three, two, one.
Fine. Since you won’t cherish the last chance, Lan Ye narrowed her eyes. Once this door closes, she really won’t open it again!
Lan Ye reached out, intending to pull away the hand gripping the door, she was going to close it.
Just then, the person who had been silent finally spoke. A slightly strained voice, mixed with a breathy tone, reached Lan Ye’s ears.
“I… am staying here tonight…”
Ju Rin felt that this simple sentence was difficult to say, every word felt like it was burning her mouth. But after saying it, a layer of confusion that had been weighing on her heart seemed to resolve itself. She was certain, actually, she wanted to stay too…
Hearing her words, Lan Ye let out a laugh. This contest had ended in her victory, just as she predicted. She knew that even if a “love-brain” was reserved and arrogant, they wouldn’t last long.
However, it’s too late!
Lan Ye reached out and grabbed the wrist of the hand on the door. She was surprised that with just a little force, she pulled the hand off the door.
What Lan Ye didn’t know was that when she grabbed the wrist, Ju Rin had instinctively let go, wanting to grab back.
What Ju Rin also didn’t expect was that before she could grab back, the human tossed her hand back…
“No more room~”
Along with the tossed hand, Lan Ye threw out those words. Before the sound even hit the floor, Lan Ye moved to close the door again.
Ju Rin’s gaze flickered, the door in her vision was about to slam shut! If not for a beastman’s superior reflexes allowing Ju Rin to immediately stick her foot in to block it, and her super strength successfully holding it back, the door would have been closed by now!
Actually, it was closed, save for the latch clicking into place!
Lan Ye looked at the door that wouldn’t shut and pushed hard. But the force holding the door was too powerful, not only could she not close it, but she was pushed back half a step. Then a leg squeezed in, and she was pushed back another half step.
Ju Rin was very careful to restrain her strength. It was just a door, she had never entered a room so with such difficulty…
But to Lan Ye, before she could fully react, Rin had easily squeezed through the door. While she was caught off guard, Rin grabbed her shoulders, spun her around, and pinned her against the door!
With a clunk, the door closed.
The lights weren’t on in the chamber. There was only a sliver of moonlight filtering through the arched glass window.
“Get out.”
Realizing what had happened, Lan Ye reached out to push Rin, but she couldn’t budge her.
“No more room?”
Ju Rin asked these three words almost through gritted teeth. She wasn’t sure what they meant, but she had a suspicion that made her mental power restless.
Lan Ye looked at this person who wouldn’t come in when invited but barged in when the door was closing, and snorted.
“That’s right. One room, two people is just right. Three people.”
The remaining word “crowded” was blocked before it could escape. Only a faint, muffled sound leaked from their pressed lips.
Lan Ye’s eyes widened in surprise.
Ju Rin was equally surprised. What was she doing… She just didn’t want to hear the human say things she didn’t want to hear… why did she use her mouth to block them…
Feeling the heat on her lips and the mingled breaths of she knew not whom, Ju Rin’s heart beat wildly. Her mental power felt a restless urge to break through its long-held shackles.
In her mind, fragments surged like a violent tide. In the pieced together images, she saw a pair of eyes that were startlingly bright even in the dark.
Just like the pair before her.
An extremely familiar feeling replaced her previous surprise. Instinctively, Ju Rin licked…
“Mmh~”
Fine barbs scraped against soft lips, the tingling sensation shot straight to her brain. Lan Ye felt a multitude of images darting like fish through her mind. Instinctively, she stood on her tiptoes, her body preceding her consciousness as she moved toward the other.
An uncontrollable soft moan escaped Lan Ye’s lips, startling the pair with their mingled breaths.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door in the night.
Knock! Knock! knock…
After knocking, Lola pulled her hand back and clasped her hands in front of her, waiting for a response from inside. But after waiting for a while, there was no movement.
So, she raised her hand and knocked again, calling out to remind them it was her and stating her purpose.
“Princess, I’ve brought Miss Lan Ye’s nightclothes.”
Withdrawing her hand, Lola continued to wait. After a while, there was still no response. Lola found it strange, she had just seen the Princess enter the chambers. Although the way she entered was a bit odd, it looked like she squeezed through a crack in the door.
After hesitating, Lola looked back at the items in the attendant’s hands, they were all things needed before resting for the night. Lola thought for a moment and pressed the doorbell next to the chamber door.
This bell would be heard no matter which corner of the chamber the occupants were in, even if they had gone into the inner entertainment room or library.
This time, the door opened quickly. Then, a hand… reached out…
Following that, the Princess’s voice came from inside.
“Give them to me.”
The authoritative voice carried a hint of breathlessness, as if suppressing some emotion.
Lola looked at the hand with its slightly curled fingers, and after a moment of daze, she snapped back to her senses.
“Oh… okay.”
She quickly took the items from the attendant behind her and placed them in the Princess’s hand.
Then, the hand retracted and the door closed…
Once again blocking out the light from the hallway, the chamber fell into darkness once more. The ears that had looked golden in the light seemed to lose their color, leaving only their silhouette clearly visible in the moonlight.
Looking at those flickering ears and thinking of the face that had been flushed bright red when the light hit it, a smile flickered in Lan Ye’s bright eyes.
She stood on her tiptoes, reached out, and pulled the beastman with the swaying furry ears toward her, forcing her to lean down.
At the right height, Lan Ye reached out and pinched that soft ear she had kissed this afternoon. The ear trembled in her palm, making Lan Ye’s heart itch.
Lan Ye blew a breath against the ear.
“Continue,” she said, her light voice carrying a hint of seduction, a smile infusing every word.
“Like just now, kiss me again.”
