- Chapter 1 - You're Pregnant - Humans Can Give Birth to Cats?!
Pink bubbles drifted upward, one by one.
The air was thick with a heady, floral fragrance, outside the window, the city lights blurred into a hazy dream.
Lan Ye tilted her head back, gasping for air. Her eyes, shimmering with fragmented light, overflowed with uncontrollable tears.
She was burning up…
No, before she died of heat, her heart might actually stop.
“No… I really can’t…” Lan Ye struggled, trying to push away the person pressing down on her.
Just a moment ago, the intensity of the sensation had turned her mind blank. Her heartbeat was erratic, and a suffocating numbness had completely consumed her. In her blurred vision, there were only those pink bubbles, constantly rising and bursting.
“Stop… wait… tell me first… who are you…”
Lan Ye reached out to grab the bubbles, wanting to wave them away to see who it was… who was pinning her down…
A wave of heat surged by her ear, and a voice, as intoxicating as aged alcohol, fell upon her lips.
“Lin.”
Lan Ye’s moist eyes flickered with confusion: “Zero?” (Note: ‘Lin’ and ‘Zero’ are homophones in Mandarin).
A ‘Zero’? Then why is he on top of… Lan Ye struggled to get up. Zeros are supposed to stay on the bottom…
Before she could rise to take the “1” position (the dominant role), a powerful arm suddenly encircled her. A cold bracelet pressed deep into her glowing, feverish skin.
The next second, Lan Ye was flipped over, pinned face down. A sharp sting suddenly pierced the back of her neck.
“Ah!”
Lan Ye clutched the back of her neck and bolted upright in bed, eyes snapping open as she gasped for air.
She panted for a long while before the feeling of suffocation subsided. She looked around blankly.
The pink bubbles were gone. She was in an ordinary room, and the back of her neck didn’t hurt…
Lan Ye exhaled sharply. Another dream.
For an entire month, including the days she spent in a coma, she had been having the exact same dream. And the sensations were becoming increasingly vivid.
Thinking of the moment in the dream when she was bitten and then licked, Lan Ye’s scalp tingled. She collapsed back onto the pillow and started rolling around, kicking her legs.
Why did it feel so good?!
I seriously can’t take this anymore! Aaaaaah~
A ‘knock, knock, knock’ interrupted her rolling.
“Xiao Ye, are you awake? Is it okay if Auntie comes in?”
Hearing the voice, Lan Ye immediately sat up, hurriedly straightened her pillow, adjusted her nightgown, and covered the adult diaper she was wearing due to her recovery.
After pulling the quilt over herself, Lan Ye habitually reached up to fix her hair.
When her hand met a fuzzy, short cropped head, she froze… she kept forgetting. She hadn’t grown much hair back yet, there was nothing to tidy.
Lan Ye withdrew her hand and called out toward the door, “I’m awake. It’s fine, please come in.”
The door creaked open, and a woman in her fifties walked in with a smile.
“Xiao Ye, your complexion looks good today. You’ve got some color in your cheeks.”
Lan Ye coughed awkwardly and looked down. She touched her burning face, too embarrassed to admit the “healthy glow” was entirely due to an erotic dream.
The woman sat on the edge of the bed and handed Lan Ye a bundle.
“You woke up so suddenly that Auntie didn’t have time to prepare new underwear for you. These are the clothes you were wearing when you were brought to the hospital. I’ve washed them all. Wear these for today. There were some bloodstains on the outer shirt that wouldn’t come out, so I brought one of mine for you to use temporarily. After Xiao Xiao’s parent-teacher meeting today, I’ll go buy you some new ones.”
Xiao Xiao was the tuxedo cat the woman raised.
Lan Ye was surprisingly fine with the idea of a cat having a parent-teacher meeting. At the pet shop where she used to work, many clients sent their pets to “school,” though it was usually dogs.
She wondered what a little kitten could actually learn at school.
Lan Ye took the clothes and was about to ask, but then she noticed something off.
She looked at the folded pile in her hands. On top sat a pair of underwear.
Black, mesh, lace, extremely sexy.
“This isn’t mine,” Lan Ye said firmly.
Lan Shan looked surprised. “The hospital gave them to me and said they were taken off you. Did they make a mistake?”
After inspecting the rest, Lan Ye replied, “The others are right, but this underwear definitely isn’t mine.”
She was certain. Her underwear was all plain cotton boxers, she prioritized comfort over aesthetics.
Wait.
Lan Ye’s grip on the lace fabric tightened. Fragments of memory flashed through her mind, connecting into a timeline.
She remembered.
Lan Ye looked at Lan Shan awkwardly and changed her tune: “I… I misremembered. It is mine.”
Lan Shan looked at her with concern. “Maybe I should accompany you to the physical exam after all…”
It seemed her niece’s brain was still quite muddled.
Lan Ye declined. “I can do it myself. I’m fine, really.”
To prove it, she patted her arms and chest. When she went to pat her head, Lan Shan caught her hand.
“Be careful, child. Especially with your head.”
After lying in bed for a month and miraculously waking up, they couldn’t afford any more accidents.
Lan Ye pulled her hand back and nodded obediently. “I’ll be careful. Don’t worry.”
Seeing Lan Ye’s persistence, Lan Shan didn’t push further.
“I’ve prepared everything for you. Since you’re up, get ready. Go early and come back early.”
She pulled something out of her pocket and handed it to Lan Ye.
“Your phone is broken. I’ve already pre-ordered a new one, but for the next few days, use Xiao Xiao’s children’s smart watch. I’ve transferred money into it. The payment code is here, and the hospital appointment code for your check-up is in there too.”
Lan Shan gave a brief demonstration and asked worriedly, “Do you know how to use it?”
Lan Ye’s eyebrow twitched. She had injured her head, but she hadn’t lost her mind.
“I do. Thank you.”
“Oh, child, why are you being so polite with your aunt?”
After the woman left, Lan Ye stared at the closed door with a bitter smile.
Lan Shan wasn’t actually her aunt…
Lan Ye looked down at the underwear in her hand. This wasn’t her underwear either…
She checked the date on the watch: September 31, 2025. Suppressing the question of why a kitten would have a children’s smart watch, she realized that to explain this bizarre situation, she had to go back to September 1st.
That day, Lan Ye had attended a wedding for a client’s dog and had gone back to the hotel early after drinking too much.
When she reached her room and climbed into bed, she found a woman already lying there!
As for how it developed into an indescribable night… Lan Ye’s memory was a bit fuzzy.
She hadn’t blacked out, but the memories felt like they were shrouded in a mist of pink bubbles. She could only recall specific, intense fragments.
However, the gaps in her memory didn’t change the most important takeaway from that night, it felt amazing.
It felt so good that she had been dreaming about it for a month. In fact, she suspected the only reason she woke up from her vegetative state was the persistent stimulation of that recurring dream…
If she hadn’t woken up the next morning with someone actually in the bed, she would have dismissed it as a dream.
Recalling this, Lan Ye felt a surge of regret. When she woke up that morning, the woman had been lying with her back to her.
Just as she was about to wake her to ask who she was, her boss called. It was an emergency, she needed to open the shop immediately because a client was coming early to pick up a boarded dog.
Since the pet shop wasn’t far, Lan Ye figured she could run there, open the door, and be back in ten minutes to talk to the woman.
Lan Ye looked at the underwear. In her haste that morning, she had put on the wrong pair. These belonged to that woman…
She was filled with regret. She shouldn’t have left like that! She should have at least seen what the woman looked like…
Lan Ye looked at the bloodstained clothes. She never expected that the moment she stepped out of the hotel, she would get hit by a car.
And be turned into a vegetable…
Everything that happened afterward was what the woman claiming to be her aunt told her.
Lan Ye was an orphan with no reachable relatives. After lying in the hospital for two weeks, her medical bills had exceeded the limit.
By chance, Lan Shan was volunteering at that hospital and “recognized” Lan Ye as her sister’s daughter. She paid the bills and took her home to care for her.
Lan Ye suspected the hospital just wanted to offload a “problem patient” and didn’t bother to verify her identity properly.
When she woke up yesterday and heard this stranger calling herself “Auntie,” Lan Ye thought it was a joke.
After talking, they realized it was a misunderstanding. Her mother didn’t have a sister, and she didn’t have an aunt. She wasn’t the “Lan Ye” that Lan Shan knew.
Somehow, she happened to share the same name and a similar appearance with Lan Shan’s niece, who had gone missing three years ago.
It was a total fluke. Lan Ye had tried to explain yesterday, but Lan Shan just assumed her brain was scrambled from the accident and her memories were distorted…
Seeing that explaining was useless, Lan Ye stopped trying for the moment.
She planned to go to the police station after her physical today to explain the situation, replace her ID, get a new bank card, and buy a phone. Since she wasn’t Lan Shan’s niece, she felt bad accepting a new phone from her and intended to pay back the medical expenses.
And the owner of this underwear… Lan Ye wanted to find her. She had things she never got to say.
With so much to do, Lan Ye hurried to the bathroom to wash up. Once ready, she took the items Lan Shan prepared, gave a quick pat to the affectionate Xiao Xiao, put on a hat, and headed out.
There was a bus at the entrance of the complex that went straight to the Central Hospital. As soon as Lan Ye reached the stop, the bus arrived.
Stepping on, she was taken aback.
The seats were full, but half of the passengers were cats. Many were wearing little backpacks.
Is cat schooling really this common here?
“Young lady, sit here.”
After swiping her watch, Lan Ye heard a greeting. She looked up and saw a silver haired elderly lady waving to her from the first row of the rear cabin.
A calico cat next to the lady sat with its tail held high, letting out a “meow” as if inviting her over.
Lan Ye thanked the lady and the cat.
As soon as she sat down, the calico hopped from the grandmother’s lap onto hers, gently rubbing its head against her abdomen.
“My granddaughter really likes you,” the old lady said, squinting with a smile.
Lan Ye was confused. Granddaughter?
Following the lady’s gaze to the cat in her lap, Lan Ye pursed her lips. She knew some cat lovers called themselves “cat moms.” She hadn’t expected someone to call themselves a “cat grandma.”
She reached out and stroked the calico’s head. “Your granddaughter is very cute.”
The little calico purred loudly, its tail twitching with satisfaction as it continued to nuzzle Lan Ye’s stomach.
The grandmother looked at Lan Ye’s stomach with a puzzled expression.
“Young lady, are you pregnant?”
Lan Ye almost choked on her own spit. “Huh?”
She looked at the old lady, amazed at how poor her eyesight must be. She had been in a coma for a month, her stomach was as flat as a pancake.
How on earth did she look pregnant?
“No, definitely not.”
The old lady didn’t seem convinced. Watching her “granddaughter” continue to nuzzle Lan Ye’s belly, she asked another question:
“Young lady… are you a human?”
Lan Ye’s eyelid twitched. In broad daylight, if she wasn’t a human, was she a ghost? She suspected the old lady might not only have poor eyesight but also a muddled mind.
Feeling a sense of melancholy, Lan Ye reflected on how bodily functions inevitably decline with age. She patiently replied, “Yes, I am a human.”
The old lady looked disappointed upon hearing this. It truly was impossible then. If she was a human, she couldn’t give birth to a Super-S rank beastman kitten even with a Super-S rank partner, her granddaughter likely just took a simple liking to this human.
Hiding her disappointment, the old lady chatted idly. “Where are you heading so early, young lady?”
“Central Hospital.”
“What for?”
“A check-up. I was in a car accident a month ago and need to get examined.”
The old lady sighed, then seemed to remember something as she grew indignant. “Many beastmen drive so fast these days, they don’t care at all about human lives.” Especially those in their “Lust Burst” period.
“Thin people?” (Note: Lan Ye mishears ‘Beastmen’ as ‘Thin people’ due to similar pronunciation). Lan Ye was surprised the old lady categorized people by body type. “Actually, it’s not just thin people… fat people disregard traffic rules too.”
The last half of her sentence was drowned out by the roar of an engine approaching rapidly. A striking red convertible sped past their bus.
The old lady immediately pointed to it. “Look at that beastman! That car is practically flying!”
In the split second the red sports car pulled alongside the bus, Lan Ye caught a fleeting glimpse. The driver was a young woman, her face half-hidden by sunglasses, her white shirt billowing in the wind. As the car sped past, a flash of light caught Lan Ye’s eye, it was the bracelet on the woman’s wrist.
Lan Ye couldn’t tell what the gemstones were, but they were beautiful. Equally beautiful were the muscular lines of the woman’s arm, the kind Lan Ye liked most: a lean, perfectly defined layer of muscle. It reminded her of the arm that had held her waist that night, which had felt exactly like that.
The roar faded as the car vanished. Recalling the hair fluttering in the wind, Lan Ye blinked. The woman’s hair was a unique shade of pink that seemed to glow gold in the sunlight. It had a luxurious, intoxicating feel, high-end and rare, yet strangely familiar. She felt as if she had seen it somewhere before…
As a red light turned on, Ju Lin slowed her car, tapped her earpiece, and answered the persistent call.
The person on the other end spoke impatiently. “My Princess, when do you plan on coming home from this ‘runaway’ trip? Because I can’t find you, the Queen took her anger out on me and transferred me to the Central Police Station as a first line patrol officer!”
Si Qing wailed into the phone. She was originally the Princess’s guard and a First-Class Knight of the Lily, but now that the Princess was missing, she was the first to be held accountable.
Ju Lin waited for the fake crying to stop before responding. She ignored the complaint and asked her own question. “The person I asked you to find, any luck?”
Si Qing had called specifically for this. “My Princess, are you sure this person exists? I’ve watched the surveillance footage from your house ten times. Forget a person, there wasn’t even a mosquito. Are you sure you weren’t hallucinating during your Lust Burst period? You know how easy it is to hallucinate then…”
Ju Lin listened thoughtfully as she opened the center console and took out a small, palm sized box. Thinking of the contents inside, she was certain that night was no hallucination. “Did she really leave nothing behind?”
Si Qing felt that Ju Lin was hiding something. If a human had gone to such lengths to infiltrate Ju Lin’s residence, they wouldn’t have left so easily. “Even Cinderella in ancient human fairy tales knew to leave a glass slipper. Someone who risked their life to enter your territory couldn’t have done it just to sleep with you for one night, right?”
Si Qing raised her voice. “Nothing? Not a word? Not a shoe or a scrap of clothing?”
Ju Lin looked at the box again. Hesitating, she opened it and took out the contents. It was a pair of underwear, boxers, cotton, featuring a cartoon character: a round-faced cat with an exaggerated red bow on one ear. If she remembered correctly, this was a character from human history, a total relic that you might not even find in a human museum.
Ju Lin put the item back and tossed the box into the console. “Nothing.”
Cinderella left a glass slipper, not underwear… She couldn’t exactly use a pair of underwear to find someone.
Hearing the denial, Si Qing frowned. How could they leave nothing? “Someone who approaches so deliberately and then plays hard to get must be planning something big.” She was worried. “Could it be the King’s people? Or that woman from the Mi family the Queen likes? She’s a Super-S beastman, she’d have the power to bypass your security”
“It’s not her,” Ju Lin cut her off.
“How do you know? Weren’t your eyes injured and your senses dulled that night? How can you be sure?”
Ju Lin glanced at the red light countdown. She was injured, not dead. As the light turned green and she hit the gas, she said, “Three days. If you don’t find her, you’re staying at the Central Police Station forever.”
Si Qing groaned. “Where are you? I’ll apply for a bio-scanner to check your house again. What’s that noise? Are you on the road?”
“Yes,” Ju Lin said, heading out on an errand. “Come over this afternoon.”
“Where are you going?”
“Central Hospital.”
Si Qing raised an eyebrow, the hospital was right next to the police station. “Why? Are you sick?”
“I’m going to book you an appointment with a neurologist.”
After Ju Lin hung up, Si Qing muttered, “You’re the one who needs a neurologist.” She still didn’t believe a human could break into Ju Lin’s house, sleep with her, and run away.
Then, Si Qing realized something. The physical gap between humans and beastmen was massive. Without spiritual protection, after a night with a beastman, a human usually wouldn’t be able to get out of bed the next day. This person had managed to run away immediately.
Yikes… Si Qing nodded to herself. Maybe the Princess really does need a trip to the hospital.
Central Hospital. Physical Examination Center, Reception Room 5.
Lan Ye, having finished all her tests, stared at the doctor across the desk, doubting her own hearing.
“What did you just say?” Lan Ye asked again.
“You’re pregnant,” the doctor repeated with a smile, printing out the ultrasound report. Pointing to the clear image of a tiny cat head, the doctor added, “It’s a kitten. About a month along.”
Lan Ye stared at the doctor’s smile. After two seconds of silence, she quickly unlocked her smart watch and dialed three numbers.
“Hello, 110? I want to report a crime!”
This is insane! Lawless! They were actually running scams right here in the hospital!
Since when can humans give birth to cats?!
