- Chapter 32 - Gay Audacity Is on the Rise
Ever since the night He Chenshuang requested to transition to “pursuing him openly,” Wen Huihan hadn’t shown it on the surface, but he was secretly worried that He Chenshuang might do something extreme.
There was no other reason than the fact that after Wen Huihan received the love letter, he did some math. The year he gave He Chenshuang the melatonin was right at the start of their second semester of freshman year in high school. This meant that from that point on, He Chenshuang’s “brotherly feelings” had already fermented into something else.
He had been pining for nearly six years, just one step away from the “seven-year itch.” Wen Huihan felt that after suppressing it for so long, once released, there was no telling if He Chenshuang had already evolved into a “Final Form Pervert.”
Wen Huihan felt that things a normal pervert wouldn’t do, his Final Form Pervert bro definitely would.
For example, He Chenshuang might “accidentally” write Wen Huihan’s name while doing homework, or unconsciously murmur his name in his sleep. Even worse, he might set Wen Huihan’s photo as his lock screen.
If he got even more radical, one day a fully “corrupted” He Chenshuang might suddenly announce loudly in the dorm or classroom: “Everyone, listen up, I’ve actually been in love with Wen Huihan for a long time.”
Just thinking about it made his scalp tingle. If that really happened, Wen Huihan hesitated over whether he should knock He Chenshuang unconscious first, or just knock himself out.
Fortunately, none of the things he worried about happened. He Chenshuang seemed mostly the same as before, and their daily interactions were normal. They still went to class together, ate in the cafeteria together, and went to the library together.
Aside from He Chenshuang sending him a poorly written love letter and inviting him to a movie, he really didn’t do anything out of line.
Except, from time to time, their eyes would collide.
Wen Huihan had a new discovery recently: he couldn’t hold eye contact with He Chenshuang for more than five seconds.
Whether there were “censored pixels” in He Chenshuang’s eyes was one thing, but the main issue was that every time he looked at He Chenshuang, he found that He Chenshuang was already looking at him.
This kind of telepathic eye contact wasn’t a one-time thing; it happened every time, giving Wen Huihan a sensation like an electric current running through him. It wasn’t bad, exactly, just… weird.
But the perpetrator always maintained a serious expression. His gaze held no hint of lewdness; instead, it was as if he were looking at something incredibly precious.
Finally, Wen Huihan couldn’t take it anymore. During a meal, he interrogated him: “Why do you keep staring at me? What is there to look at, anyway?”
He Chenshuang let out a hum of acknowledgement.
Wen Huihan’s scalp prickled. “What does ‘hum’ mean?”
He admitted his friend was considered “top-tier” in certain circles, but did he really need to keep such a close watch?
“You weren’t satisfied with the last love letter, so I’m drafting the next one,” He Chenshuang said naturally. “I need to look at you to find inspiration.”
Wen Huihan: “…”
Such a rigorous logical argument that he actually couldn’t find a rebuttal.
He Chenshuang was actually planning to write another one of those terrifying things?
While that letter was mediocre as a love letter, it was a solid 10/10 as a declaration of war. At the very least, Wen Huihan’s fists had clenched hard after reading it.
Though, looking back, it was actually kind of interesting.
The realization that He Chenshuang could be so reckless and green in private was a novelty to Wen Huihan. In his memory, He Chenshuang had always been unflappable and composed, no matter the situation.
This version of He Chenshuang was rare.
Through that unpolished love letter, it was as if he had traveled through the long years and unexpectedly caught a glimpse of He Chenshuang’s teenage self, someone who couldn’t sleep because of his feelings, who hesitated repeatedly before writing a blunt, childish confession, full of youthful arrogance.
To say he’d give his crush money and ask them to buy him another bottle of melatonin, Wen Huihan thought he was truly audacious.
It really did seem like something He Chenshuang would do.
It was a pity, however, that years of pining had allowed He Chenshuang to reach “Master Level.” Now, even when presenting his embarrassing past to Wen Huihan, he didn’t blink an eye and would even use it to push things further.
The current He Chenshuang was too devious, but for the sake of the 18-year-old He Chenshuang, Wen Huihan decided to give him some face.
“Fine, look all you want,” Wen Huihan warned subtly, “but don’t be too obvious. Don’t let others notice.”
He Chenshuang said meaningfully, “Understood. So you prefer it when I watch you in secret?”
Wen Huihan was horrified. “And you still say you’re not a pervert?”
To even suggest “voyeurism,” he knew everything Qi Run said about those “censored pixels” was true!
“Fine, then I won’t watch you secretly.”
“Why do I feel like you sound disappointed?”
“Do I?”
“Yes!”
He Chenshuang laughed again, and only after finishing did he say, “It’s your imagination.”
Wen Huihan: “…”
Given that his “brother’s” gay audacity was growing by the day, he decided to implement some suppression, otherwise there was no telling what dangerous things might happen.
The first thing he did was unhide all those “dark” Friends Circle posts he had restricted, restoring his update history.
[Hating you for three seconds.]
In a daze, it felt like returning to that period of “pure brotherly spite.” A warm current rose in Wen Huihan’s heart. He actually felt a hint of nostalgia, probably because the current He Chenshuang was just too much to handle.
As soon as the post went up, replies started coming in. He saw a dozen notifications and almost thought He Chenshuang was cyberbullying him again.
Fortunately, it wasn’t that. He had just slipped up and forgotten to set the post to “He Chenshuang Only,” so it became a public update.
Whatever, let He Chenshuang be publicly executed for once.
Wen Huihan tapped on the notifications.
The comments below were all in a perfect line:
[Lin Qihao: Love you for a lifetime] [Lin Mengling: Love you for a lifetime] [Qi Run: Love you for a lifetime] [Zhao Zhao: Love you for a lifetime] [He Chenshuang: Love you for a lifetime]
Wen Huihan: “…”
Don’t think I can’t see you just because you’re hiding in the crowd.
That damned He Chenshuang!
***
Although Wen Huihan had claimed he would absolutely not go to the movies with He Chenshuang, when the release date arrived, they were standing together at the cinema entrance.
Of course, the reason Wen Huihan agreed wasn’t because of a bribe. It was simply because he had seen the first and second parts of The Perverted Chainsaw Man, and as the third part was the finale, he couldn’t miss it.
He had specifically emphasized this reason when he agreed to go.
After hearing it, He Chenshuang just nodded. “What a coincidence, me too.”
Wen Huihan smiled thinly. Like hell you are. You’re probably flying high inside because you get to see a movie with the guy you’re pursuing.
He Chenshuang bought the tickets, so Wen Huihan went to buy two popcorn combos.
Since it wasn’t a romance film, there were plenty of other guys coming in groups, so Wen Huihan and He Chenshuang didn’t stand out.
They were delayed a bit buying the popcorn, so by the time they entered, the lights had already dimmed, and the pre-show ads were playing.
He Chenshuang walked in front, looking down at the glowing seat markers on the floor to find their row, while Wen Huihan followed behind him, his mind wandering.
He suddenly remembered the trip to C-City to watch the tournament.
He later realized that He Chenshuang probably wasn’t actually that into esports. Back in high school, if Wen Huihan hadn’t goaded him, he might not have played games at all.
Such a person, just to have more common topics with Wen Huihan, had specially gone to learn about those complex teams, down to the specific playstyles and tactics of each roster. He knew which player had obvious weaknesses and what a player’s next move would be, and could analyze it all logically… To be honest, it was impossible not to be moved.
Even this movie, The Perverted Chainsaw Man, was something Wen Huihan wanted to see originally. They hadn’t missed a single showing of the first two parts. If he had come with a different partner or by himself, it wouldn’t have felt right.
As a “brother,” He Chenshuang was undeniably great. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been best friends for so many years.
But what if he were a “partner”…
Wen Huihan was startled by his own thought and didn’t notice when He Chenshuang had stopped and turned around. He slammed headfirst into him.
It didn’t hurt, of course. Although He Chenshuang looked tough, it was common knowledge that muscles are soft when not tensed. Therefore, when he bumped into He Chenshuang, who was standing one step lower than him, his first reaction was: Damn, what is this? This facial contact feels kind of great.
Wen Huihan took a half-step back, and once he realized that was He Chenshuang’s chest muscle, horror flooded his face.
The temperature had risen slightly today compared to previous days. He Chenshuang was only wearing a white dress shirt. The simple outfit, paired with his aloof temperament, made him look strikingly handsome.
Through the single layer of the shirt, at such a close distance, the firm contours were faintly visible.
If his sense of touch wasn’t mistaken, not only had his face pressed against it, but his lips had accidentally left a faint mark there as well.
Wen Huihan: “…”
Oh my god.
It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen it before. Back when he intentionally turned off the lights while He Chenshuang was showering, He Chenshuang had walked out bare-chested without a care in the world.
But back then, Wen Huihan was still a “die-hard straight man” and didn’t think anything of it, only offering a sincere compliment to his bro’s great physique.
It was different now. In that instant, his mind actually visualized the direction and shape of the muscles… He was no longer “pure”!
Wen Huihan rubbed his nose, feeling a bit guilty, but he struck first: “Why did you turn around so suddenly?”
He Chenshuang looked at Wen Huihan quietly, his body relaxing. “We passed the row.”
“Next time, give me a heads-up.”
“Fine. Now I’m going to take two steps behind you, then I’ll turn left and take five steps, then find my seat and sit down.”
By the time they finally found their seats, the movie had started. The abrupt, rising sound effects paired with the intense visuals were quite exciting.
Wen Huihan, however, was a bit distracted. He felt like the burning warmth of the other person’s body still lingered on his face.
He stole a glance at He Chenshuang next to him. Fortunately, He Chenshuang didn’t seem to have any reaction; his expression looked normal.
Thank god. It was just a bump, a face-plant, and a tiny accidental lip-press. He Chenshuang probably didn’t feel a thing, otherwise he would have started making snide remarks by now.
Wen Huihan’s heart settled, and he decided to focus on the movie.
However, just a moment later, the phone in his pocket vibrated. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw He Chenshuang putting his phone away. His brow twitched with a bad omen.
He opened WeChat.
[He Chenshuang: Where did you learn that Iron Head technique?]
[He Chenshuang: Impressive. My chest actually hurts a bit.]
Wen Huihan: “…”
He knew it.
How wonderful, the feeling of walking down the street and getting “bitten” again.
[whh: Congratulations on your second puberty.]
[He Chenshuang: T-T]
