After Becoming An Internet Sensation For Pretending To Be An Alpha, I Turned Into An Omega - Chapter 9
[Good luck with the finals tomorrow.]
Bai Yue replied firmly: [Mm! I will.]
Whatever had happened before, she’d chosen this path, and now she had to keep chasing the light ahead!
“When did you get so close to Director An?” Wang Xi asked, glancing at her.
“Did I? Really?” Bai Yue instantly tensed and sat up straight.
“Your mouth is practically split to your ears. Are you that happy?” Wang Xi muttered, then noticed the jacket in Bai Yue’s arms and couldn’t resist lecturing her. “Didn’t I tell you not to wear the same jacket two days in a row?”
“No, no!” Bai Yue quickly explained. “I left it at An Leng’s place earlier. I just picked it up and was going to take it to the dry cleaner!”
At the intersection, the light turned red.
Wang Xi slowly stopped the car, turned to stare at Bai Yue, and after a moment of disbelief, asked, “… Did you two even take your clothes off?”
How could the Vulnerable Period not matter to them?!
She immediately reached for her phone to call An Leng and ask.
If you want to play by the unwritten rules, go find some soft, submissive omega. Why mess with your own Alpha?
“What are you thinking?!” Bai Yue, flushed, snatched Wang Xi’s phone and turned it off. She then flipped the jacket inside-out and shoved it in front of Wang Xi, exclaiming, “Look! It’s dirty! It needs to be cleaned!”
Wang Xi examined the jacket closely, not because she didn’t trust Bai Yue, but because many young people her age couldn’t control themselves. They often ruined their futures in the pursuit of reckless youth.
Seeing no suspicious marks on Bai Yue’s neck, Wang Xi finally let out a sigh of relief. She pursed her lips and gestured for Bai Yue to toss her clothes back. “I’ll bring them to you after the shoot. Even though public opinion is mostly on your side now, it’s still best to be careful.”
“Mm,” Bai Yue acknowledged, leaning back in her chair and scrolling through Weibo.
Wang Xi glanced sideways at Bai Yue. The young woman sat quietly in the passenger seat, the afternoon sunlight bathing her in a golden glow that made her skin seem even fairer. Bai Yue usually favored light colors, and without the enhancement of makeup or elaborate costumes, her simple white blouse gave her an innocent, almost childlike appearance, completely devoid of the fierce stage presence she usually exuded.
“What’s wrong, Sis Xi?” Bai Yue casually asked, sensing the older woman’s gaze.
Wang Xi pursed her lips, carefully choosing her words. “Your vote count is far ahead of the others. This morning, the production team of The Years held a meeting. For the live finals broadcast, they’ve decided to reset all vote counts to zero.”
“What?!” Bai Yue’s head snapped up, her game still open and unattended. “But this is beyond my control! It’s not vote manipulation, and it’s definitely not against the rules!”
“All the final contestants’ votes will be reset. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself,” Wang Xi quickly added. GJ had run the numbers; with everyone starting from the same point, Bai Yue’s chances of winning remained strong.
The filming location was also where the finals would be held the next day.
The production team had prepared dressing rooms for everyone. Bai Yue’s stylist had already arrived, and her performance outfit had been delivered.
Through the car window, Bai Yue saw a few scattered fans holding banners with her name. Though they were kept back on the sidewalk, their faces glowed with anticipation.
“Sis Xi…” Bai Yue sniffled, “could you do me a favor?”
“What is it?” Wang Xi asked, keeping her eyes on the rearview mirror as she maneuvered the car into a parking space.
“Could you buy each of them a cold milk tea?” Bai Yue pointed to the young fans outside. “I’ll pay.”
Wang Xi paused, then smiled. “You’ve grown up, haven’t you?” She hadn’t let the sudden surge of popularity go to her head.
Many of the artists under her didn’t understand this. They treated their fans as disposable, even taking their support for granted. This attitude doomed them to short-lived careers.
As they stepped out of the car, Bai Yue bowed toward the fans.
The fans immediately raised their banners high, chanting her name over and over. Their voices weren’t loud, but they persisted for a long time.
Listening to this, Bai Yue felt a lump rise in her throat.
She turned and walked into the dressing room. The rooms were arranged in order of rank, with Bai Yue’s being the first, and Chen Zi’s right next door.
She sat down in the chair before the dressing table and let the makeup artist work their magic. By the time her assistant finished helping with her hair and makeup, nearly two hours had passed.
When Wang Xi returned with the milk tea after finishing her errands, she found the sweet kitten had transformed into a fierce wolf.
Bai Yue’s overall look for the finals was silver and black.
Since she had short hair, a ribbon was tied around her neck to add volume.
Her top exposed her waist, with silver fringe adorning the shoulders and thin silver chains hanging from the tight edges, shimmering as she moved.
She wore black denim pants with a wide leather belt that added a bold, edgy touch. A metal chain adorned the right side, and she completed the look with ten-eyelet silver leather Martin boots.
Even the shoelaces were silver.
“I’d like to get a mole here,” Bai Yue said, pointing to the right side of her eye as she checked her reflection in the full-length mirror. She turned to the stylist for advice.
The reason, of course, was An Leng.
An Leng had a mole below her left eye, and Bai Yue had been eyeing it for ages. One day, she’d kiss it beneath her lips…
The stylist glanced at An Leng’s reflection in the mirror, stroked his chin thoughtfully, and finally agreed.
Just as they finished, a staff member knocked on the door.
Bai Yue opened the door to find Chen Zi standing outside.
“Sis Bai Yue!” Chen Zi exclaimed, clearly delighted to see her, as if she’d just realized Bai Yue was right next door.
Chen Zi had also just finished her hair and makeup. Her twin ponytails and school uniform gave her that signature cute look, while the upward-sweeping eyeliner added a hint of mischief.
“Sis Bai Yue, your outfit is so cool!” Chen Zi gushed, turning eagerly to follow them toward the studio. “I listened to the song you’re performing in the finals. I can’t wait to see how it looks live!”
“Thank you,” Bai Yue replied coolly, subtly maintaining some distance from Chen Zi. “Aren’t you going back?”
Chen Zi shook her head excitedly. “I wanted to watch you shoot, Sis Bai Yue! We rarely meet like this. A quick hello just isn’t enough!”
“…Your manager approved this?” Bai Yue asked.
Ever since fans created a shipping thread about them, Chen Zi would naturally approach Bai Yue wherever they met, clearly aiming to generate buzz.
“Sis Bai Yue, do you really know Ann? She’s my idol!” Chen Zi chattered incessantly.
“Thanks to you, I suppose you could say we’re acquainted,” Bai Yue replied. The unspoken implication hung in the air, but Chen Zi seemed oblivious, her smile unwavering.
At the edge of the set, Chen Zi stopped and sweetly waved. “I’ll just watch from here. You go ahead, Sis Bai Yue!”
Bai Yue: ?? Did I make you wait?
Feeling a bit helpless, but with Chen Zi’s manager nowhere to be found, even Wang Xi couldn’t control her.
The stylist stepped forward to adjust Bai Yue’s hair and outfit.
Bai Yue was no stranger to this. Shi Xiaoxia often dragged her into photo shoots, and school events frequently asked her to model.
She nailed the shoot’s theme perfectly, and the process went smoothly. The team ended up with plenty of great shots, leaving Wang Xi and the production crew poring over them for ages before settling on the final picks.
Afterward, Bai Yue planned to snap some casual photos in her makeup and styling for her Weibo feed. But Chen Zi seized the opportunity, pulling her into a series of group photos…
The next day.
An Leng’s vulnerable period was mostly over, but she still took her medication out of caution.
After a quick makeup, An Leng took out her custom dark red formal outfit and changed. The dark red was festive, auspicious, and unobtrusive.
Once she was mostly ready, she sent Xie Yijin a message:
[ Pick me up now and get me a front-row seat. ]
Isn’t it a bit early? They’re probably still rehearsing.
It’s fine.
Then a new message popped up on her phone:
[ Your special follow just posted a Weibo. ]
The Weibo account she was currently logged into was that of a fan influencer, and her special follow was naturally Bai Yue. Judging by the timing, it was likely a company-wide publicity push.
[ I’ll strive to become a role model worthy of your admiration. ] Beneath the caption was a poster for the finals.
In the photo, Bai Yue wore all-black attire with silver accents, her pale neck and slender waist…
Zooming in on the large image, An Leng was surprised to discover a beauty mark beneath Bai Yue’s right eye!
Was this part of the stylist’s design?
Her gaze shifted to Bai Yue’s snow-white waist, and An Leng pursed her lips. “Tomorrow, so many people will be seeing this…”
She looked down at her dark red formal outfit and grew increasingly disgusted with it. She stripped it off and tossed it back into the wardrobe.
After searching for a while, An Leng finally found a loose-fitting white blazer to change into.
Black and white are meant to be paired together!
