After Becoming An Internet Sensation For Pretending To Be An Alpha, I Turned Into An Omega - Chapter 5
After registering on the first floor, Bai Yue took the elevator. Following the address Wang Xi had sent, she pressed the button for the fifteenth floor.
The whole way up, she was full of determination. But when she finally stood in front of An Leng’s door, she suddenly felt nervous.
Should I… just leave the stuff on the doorknob?
Bai Yue thought, but she didn’t want to miss this chance to see An Leng.
After taking a deep breath and talking herself down for a long time, she finally raised her hand and rang the doorbell.
But…
No one came to answer, even after a long time…
Undeterred, she rang it two more times.
Still no movement from inside…
An Leng was lying in bed, tightly wrapped in her quilt, her forehead covered in a sheen of sweat and her body trembling uncontrollably.
The music playing through her headphones was loud—the very song Bai Yue had sung.
After taking her medication last night, An Leng drifted off to sleep listening to music.
But when the drug wore off this morning, she awoke from a nightmare.
In the dream, Bai Yue had said she didn’t like An Leng.
Wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, An Leng searched the entire house, only to discover there was no suppressant medication.
During her vulnerable period, Alphas often feel extremely insecure, irritable, and anxious—it’s a terrible experience. But before Xie Yijin brought her medication, she had no choice but to endure it alone.
Curling herself into a ball, she placed the pen on the bedside table and forced herself not to touch it.
Her locked photo album on her phone was filled with pictures of Bai Yue. This had always been her only comfort during her vulnerable periods.
After scrolling through the photos countless times, An Leng closed her eyes in exhaustion, turned off her phone, and set it aside, planning to sleep it off.
After all, Xie Yijin had a key, so there was no need for her to answer the door.
Unfortunately, her peace didn’t last long. Her phone buzzed and rang, interrupting the music in her headphones.
With her eyes closed, she instinctively pressed the power button to turn it off.
Ignored.
But less than two minutes later, the phone rang again.
An Leng had just returned to the country. She couldn’t believe anyone would be in such a hurry to contact her about business.
Damn persistent telemarketers, she grumbled inwardly. Her thumb twitched again as she pressed the power button once more.
She rejected the call again.
Focusing on suppressing her emotional impulses, she waited until the phone rang a third time.
An Leng frowned and opened her eyes, picking up the phone. Just as she was about to give the caller a good scolding, she saw the caller ID.
“Oh, hey, it’s Alpha.”
WeChat call: Bai Yue.
An Leng: …
Call ended.
There was nothing she could do. She didn’t want Bai Yue to hear her voice like this, didn’t want to show her vulnerable side to the person she liked.
Taking a deep breath, An Leng opened the chat interface.
An Leng: I’m in a meeting.
The message had just been sent when her phone beeped. Bai Yue replied quickly: Sis Xi said you took a sick leave.
An Leng: She’s wrong.
Bai Yue: Are you trying to pull a fast one on me?
At the door, Bai Yue had been waiting for so long that she couldn’t resist taking a bottle of white peach drink from her bag—the one she’d meant to give An Leng—and drinking it.
Looking at An Leng’s text message, even someone slow-witted would have noticed something was off.
She rang the doorbell again and pressed her ear against the door, trying to hear if there were any footsteps inside.
But the apartment’s soundproofing was excellent; she couldn’t hear a thing.
Just as she was about to straighten up, the door suddenly opened.
“You have a key—” An Leng began to complain, but a person suddenly stumbled into her arms.
She reflexively caught them and looked down to see Bai Yue.
Her legs went weak…
Clad only in her nightgown, the sensation of their bodies pressed together was unbearably clear. An Leng, who had been suppressing her desires all morning, nearly lost all her self-control.
Her body stiffened as she fought the urge to pull Bai Yue even closer.
“Hold on tight,” An Leng gritted out, lowering her voice to hide the tremor in her voice.
“S-sorry!” Bai Yue quickly straightened up, apologizing repeatedly.
The uncapped drink had spilled over them both, and the empty bottle clattered to the floor, rolling off somewhere.
Both of their clothes were stained, but An Leng’s were clearly worse.
Bai Yue glanced down at her clothes briefly before averting her gaze, staring at her shoes.
An Leng casually pulled a robe from the nearby hook and put it on. Then, in a sharp tone, she said, “Get out.”
Bai Yue’s head snapped up, disbelieving the words.
Seeing that Bai Yue didn’t move, An Leng stepped forward and physically pushed her out the door.
Bai Yue wanted to ask what was wrong, but the only answer was a loud thud as the door slammed shut.
“Director An, what’s wrong?” Bai Yue called out, knocking on the door. “I brought the peach oolong tea you wanted…”
Inside the apartment, An Leng leaned against the wall and sat down, her voice trembling as she said, “You should go…”
Bai Yue sensed something was wrong and asked with concern, “Are you feeling unwell? I can take you to the hospital.”
An Leng gritted her teeth. She must be unusually insensitive to pheromones, An Leng thought. Otherwise, as another Alpha, how could she not sense my current state?
“It’s not safe for two Alphas to be together during my vulnerable period,” An Leng explained haltingly. “I don’t want to hurt you…”
Hearing this, Bai Yue stood frozen in the doorway, struck as if by lightning.
Now that she thought about it, An Leng had looked so different when she opened the door—red-rimmed eyes, disheveled, as if she’d just woken up, nothing like her usual assertive self.
The air around her must be thick with her pheromones…
But she couldn’t ask about that.
And then there was all the foolishness she’d spouted since last night—had she already blown her cover?
Bai Yue felt a sudden panic, unsure what to do.
Just then, the elevator door opened.
She turned to see Xie Yijin stepping out, carrying two small suitcases.
Xie Yijin clearly hadn’t expected Bai Yue to be there, but she quickly composed herself and greeted her with a smile, “Miss Bai.”
Bai Yue nodded in acknowledgment and stepped aside to let her pass.
Instead of entering, Xie Yijin stopped beside her and looked her up and down. “Did you… get into a fight?” she asked, concern in her voice.
“No, no!” Bai Yue quickly denied it, pointing to the bag on the floor. “I’m here to see Director An. This is something I bought for her.”
Xie Yijin glanced at the transparent bag. Inside were congee, drinks, Isatidis Radix, Roxithromycin, and Ammonium Chloride-Pseudoephedrine-Caffeine Capsules…
Nodding thoughtfully, Xie Yijin picked up the bag and said with a smile, “Thank you for your concern, Miss Bai. I’ll deliver this for you. However, Director An shouldn’t have too much contact with you right now. Please understand.”
“Okay, okay…” Bai Yue nodded repeatedly, wondering if she should pretend to get angry and throw something to seem like a normal Alpha.
“Also, Miss Bai, your coat is stained. Would you like me to take it for dry cleaning? I can deliver it back to your company in two days.” Xie Yijin pointed to the hem of her coat, where the drink had spilled earlier.
Bai Yue didn’t want to bother her, but when she looked up, she saw Xie Yijin smiling gently at her.
Under that gentle gaze, Bai Yue couldn’t refuse. She took off her coat and handed it over.
As she turned to walk toward the elevator, Xie Yijin called out, “Miss Bai, your key is in your pocket.”
“Oh, sorry, I forgot.” Bai Yue quickly grabbed the key and thanked her. When the elevator doors opened, she practically fled.
After putting her hat and mask back on, Bai Yue knew her face must be burning red, even without looking in the mirror.
Xie Yijin watched her leave, then finally took out a spare key and unlocked the door.
The Alpha’s pheromones hit her like a wave, overwhelming her with their intensity, while the scent of oolong tea suffocated her.
An Leng sat on the floor by the entrance, looking utterly disheveled.
After changing her shoes, Xie Yijin handed Bai Yue’s coat to An Leng. “I brought the medicine. You can hold onto the coat for now. I’ll pick it up for dry cleaning tomorrow.”
“And… unit 1502 is the apartment across from this one.”
An Leng’s eyes widened instantly at the mention.
