After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Was Spoiled by a Sweet Omega - Chapter 48
After half an hour of morning exercise, Ning Xuan went to the dining hall to get breakfast.
When she returned, she found Ding Jie crouched at the doorway, clutching the cat and looking pitiful.
“Ning Bao, I made a mistake.”
Ning Xuan immediately knew what mistake, Yu Yazhi was allergic to cats!
“Did you buy any allergy medicine?”
Without waiting for an answer, she rushed into the room.
“Yu Yazhi, how are you? Did you have a reaction?”
Yu Yazhi was just coming out of the bathroom.
She was wearing Ning Xuan’s pale lavender T-shirt dress, her long hair dripping wet, her pretty face flushed and dewy from the steam.
“I’m fine. No allergy.”
She was toweling her hair dry. The moment she saw the cat, she had dashed into the bathroom to shower. Ding Jie, realizing her cat allergy, had quickly carried the cat away.
Even so, Ning Xuan remained worried. She grabbed Yu Yazhi’s hand and checked her arms, neck, and legs. Seeing no rash, she finally relaxed.
“Sorry, Ding Jie didn’t know you were coming. She didn’t know you were allergic to cats.”
“Mm. I know. I said it’s fine.”
Yu Yazhi glanced at the breakfast on the coffee table.
“Have you eaten? If you have, go play with the cat. Ding Jie said you love her cat. Just be careful not to get scratched.”
But Ning Xuan had no mood for cats now. She looked at the messy bed.
“Where did the cat go? Has the room been cleaned?”
Yu Yazhi hesitated, she didn’t want to tell her she’d be leaving that afternoon.
Ning Xuan didn’t wait for an answer. She carried the bedding outside to air, then fetched a mop to clean the floor.
Watching her bustle about, Yu Yazhi felt both sweetly moved and faintly distressed.
“Stop fussing.”
She caught her hand, pulled her to the coffee table.
“Eat first.”
Ning Xuan finally sat down, washed her hands, and set the food on the table.
While eating, she suddenly remembered Ding Jie outside. She hurried out.
“Sorry, I got busy and forgot you. Thanks for bringing the cat. Later, when I go to training, let me play with her for a bit.”
Seeing her smile as usual, Ding Jie relaxed. She packed the cat into its carrier and urged her back inside to eat. Then she poked her head in to greet Yu Yazhi.
“Hi, President Yu, I’ll head off now.”
Yu Yazhi nodded in acknowledgment.
Once Ding Jie left, Yu Yazhi turned back.
“You’re training later? When will you finish?”
Ning Xuan placed a bun before her.
“Starts at nine, ends at eleven. Why, do you need something?”
Yu Yazhi shook her head.
“No, just asking.”
Ning Xuan asked in return, really meaning to know when she would leave.
“What plans do you have?”
Yu Yazhi understood.
“This afternoon.”
“So soon?”
“You’ll be busy training. I shouldn’t disturb you.”
“Oh.”
When the music ends, the crowd disperses; when people leave, the tea grows cold.
Her head drooped, her mood sank.
Only in a strange place did she realize how precious familiar company was. Yu Yazhi was the one she had spent the most time with since entering this world. Different. Special.
“If you can’t bear to part with me, I’ll stay one more night.”
Yu Yazhi was a workaholic, but for Ning Xuan she was willing to make an exception.
Ning Xuan felt both nervous and delighted, though she spoke with restraint.
“If you’re busy, go ahead. Work comes first.”
“You’re important too.”
The sudden, blunt words startled Ning Xuan so much she dropped her egg.
Clatter.
The egg rolled far across the floor.
Yu Yazhi picked it up, wiped it with a tissue, peeled it, and placed it on her plate.
Ning Xuan pouted.
“I don’t eat yolks.”
Yu Yazhi separated the white, set it on her plate, and ate the yolk herself.
In truth, she didn’t like yolks either—they were dry and choking.
She took a sip of soy milk, but it was cloyingly sweet.
Seeing her frown, Ning Xuan immediately pushed her own cup over.
“You drank the wrong one. This is yours.”
Yu Yazhi tried the new cup. It wasn’t sweet, only fragrant and smooth.
“Not bad.”
“As long as you like it.”
They shared a warm breakfast.
After tidying up, Ning Xuan went to training. Yu Yazhi, with nothing else to do, followed.
At the training hall, students were practicing. Shang Li was already teaching Zhu Shanshan.
Ning Xuan was surprised. What’s this? She’s actually learning?
She watched for a while. Zhu Shanshan looked earnest, face flushed, neck straining, sweat pouring down.
Just as Ning Xuan thought she had turned over a new leaf, she noticed Liu Zi filming nearby.
Instantly, she understood. This isn’t training, it’s performance.
Sure enough, Zhu Shanshan pretended to stumble, cried out twice, then forced herself upright.
“Master Shang, I’m fine. I can do it.”
Building an image of resilience and grit.
Ning Xuan knew the entertainment industry thrived on theatrics. She felt no particular emotion, simply watched calmly, waiting for Shang Li’s call.
Shang Li endured Zhu Shanshan’s act, then waved to Ning Xuan.
“Come, on stage.”
“Coming.”
Ning Xuan replied, nodded to Yu Yazhi, and stepped up.
Today’s moves were especially fierce.
Soon Ning Xuan was panting heavily, exhausted.
Yu Yazhi, watching, ordered a few cold drinks on her phone for her to enjoy during breaks.
“Our Ning Bao is working so hard.”
Ding Jie slipped to Yu Yazhi’s side.
“Beautiful and hardworking, right?”
Covered in cat hair from cuddling, she came too close, making Yu Yazhi sneeze. She quickly backed away.
Ning Xuan, mid-practice, heard the sneeze and glanced over, her eyes asking: Are you okay?
Yu Yazhi smiled and waved, signaling her to focus.
A woman concentrating was the most beautiful sight.
Her graceful figure, her sharp, decisive movements like a living painting.
Unable to resist, Yu Yazhi lifted her phone and captured the moment.
Suddenly, the camera caught Ning Xuan’s kick landing squarely on Zhu Shanshan’s face.
“Ahhh!”
A scream.
Zhu Shanshan collapsed, clutching her mouth, crying in pain.
“Ning Xuan, what did I ever do to you? How could you kick me so hard? It hurts! I’ll be disfigured!”
Shang Li and assistant Liu Zi rushed to the stage to check her injury.
“In martial arts, injuries are common.”
After examining her, Shang Li found only a swollen chin. Nothing serious.
“No problem. Don’t worry, you won’t be disfigured. No bones broken. Just roll a warm egg over it later.”
But Zhu Shanshan seized the chance to make a scene, wailing loudly.
“It hurts, it hurts, it really hurts.”
Even Liu Zi was embarrassed, but as her assistant, she couldn’t expose her poor acting. She could only smooth things over.
“Master Shang, sorry to trouble you. Sister Shanshan just has a sensitive pain response.”
Shang Li knew Zhu Shanshan was deliberately stirring trouble, but with everyone watching, Ning Xuan had indeed accidentally kicked her. Suppressing her impatience, she forced a smile:
“Mm. Understood. Miss Zhu is delicate and precious—quickly, help her go rest.”
Ning Xuan was still puzzling over how she had managed to kick Zhu Shanshan’s face. She had clearly held back her strength during sparring.
“Ning Xuan, don’t you owe me an apology?”
Supported by Liu Zi, Zhu Shanshan looked at Ning Xuan with arrogant pride.
Ning Xuan had injured her, and she was willing to take responsibility. She stepped forward and apologized:
“Sorry. I truly didn’t mean it.”
“You say it wasn’t intentional, and that makes it so?”
Zhu Shanshan twisted the truth:
“Who knows if you weren’t afraid I’d steal Director He’s role, so you deliberately injured me?”
Ning Xuan: “…”
Paranoia much?
Seeing she was picking a fight, Ning Xuan refused to indulge her.
“Actually, you’re overthinking. I never considered you a rival.”
It was true. She didn’t see Zhu Shanshan as competition.
Rather than wasting energy eliminating opponents, it was better to improve herself. After all, rivals were endless—there was no way to remove them all.
Zhu Shanshan hadn’t expected such a response. Feeling insulted, she snapped:
“Ning Xuan, you’ve gone too far!”
“So, what do you want?”
This time, it was Yu Yazhi who spoke.
She held up her phone, showing the video she had recorded. From her angle, it was clear Zhu Shanshan had deliberately leaned into Ning Xuan’s kick to take the blow.
“You brought this on yourself. What exactly do you want?”
Her voice was cold as she raised the phone.
“See for yourself. If you want the public to admire such a pathetic trick, I’ll make sure they do.”
Zhu Shanshan: “…”
She glanced at the video, guilt flashing across her face.
“I, I didn’t mean anything.”
The next second, she clutched her chin and resumed her act.
“Ah, it hurts! Liu Zi, help me off the stage.”
Liu Zi, mortified, quickly supported her down.
They left in haste.
Ning Xuan took Yu Yazhi’s phone, replayed the video, and laughed at Zhu Shanshan’s antics.
“That Zhu Shanshan can’t go a day without causing trouble.”
Yu Yazhi ignored the behavior, her attention fixed on Ning Xuan. Seeing her drenched in sweat, she handed her a handkerchief.
“Wipe your sweat.”
Ning Xuan thanked her and did so.
Shang Li announced a break.
The two stepped down from the stage.
Just then, the delivery arrived with several cold drinks.
Yu Yazhi handed them out to familiar faces, keeping an iced coffee for herself.
Ning Xuan caught the aroma of coffee, her eyes lighting up with longing. She suddenly craved it.
Yu Yazhi noticed and smiled.
“Want some?”
Ning Xuan pressed her lips together, nodding pitifully—like a puppy begging for affection.
Yu Yazhi had no resistance. Her heart sang with triumph, though her face remained composed.
“Trade me something for it.”
Ning Xuan offered her cold drink.
Yu Yazhi shook her head.
“That’s mine too.”
Ning Xuan searched herself, but found nothing to give. She trained lightly, carrying nothing but clothes. Jewelry and accessories were all put away.
She looked troubled.
“I don’t have anything.”
Then she held up a finger, eyes pleading.
“Just one sip. Please, just one sip.”
Adorable.
But Yu Yazhi feigned indifference.
“Really nothing on you?”
Ning Xuan nodded frantically.
“Nothing. Check if you don’t believe me.”
Yu Yazhi didn’t check. Instead, she glanced around—no one was watching. She leaned down and brushed a quick kiss against Ning Xuan’s lips, light as a dragonfly’s touch.
Ning Xuan froze.
Yu Yazhi smiled and handed her the coffee.
“Drink. It’s all yours.”
Ning Xuan held the cup, stunned, still reeling from the stolen kiss.
“You, you.”
Yu Yazhi ruffled her hair.
“You’re wonderful. Whatever you want, you’ll have.”
Including Director He’s drama, though she wouldn’t let Ning Xuan know she had intervened.
Ning Xuan, unaware of her thoughts, only felt her words were gentle, like those of a caring older sister next door. Sweet and indulgent.
“Ning Bao.”
Ding Jie appeared out of nowhere.
“Do you still want to play with the cat?”
Ning Xuan, still dazed, reacted instinctively to her voice.
“Yes!”
Avoiding Yu Yazhi’s gaze, she carried her coffee over to the cat.
The cat was fierce, looking like a little tiger—ferocious yet adorably so.
When Ning Xuan stroked it, it bared its teeth and growled, but one sharp look from Ding Jie made it behave instantly.
Truly, all creatures have spirit. This wild cat especially radiated energy.
“What’s its name?”
“Dasheng.”
“As in the Great Sage, Equal to Heaven?”
“Yes. What do you think?”
“Very fitting.”
Ning Xuan thought it far more impressive than the original owner’s orange cat named “Juzi.”
Ding Jie asked:
“Want a photo together?”
Ning Xuan nodded.
“Sure.”
She set her coffee aside and picked up Dasheng, posing for the shot. But suddenly, the cat leapt from her arms, kicking out with its hind legs.
“My coffee!”
She cried out, eyes full of regret. That was the coffee she had traded a kiss for! And she hadn’t even drunk much yet.
