After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Met the Reborn Omega - Chapter 51
Life in prison was always dull. After that day, Chen Lin remained there for another two months. Her relationship with Su Jing gradually became more complicated. However, since she was the only one among Su Jing’s former cellmates who had survived, no one in the prison dared to provoke them. Even so, there were still many who despised Chen Lin—after all, she used to be a police officer, and some of the inmates were people she had arrested herself.
Chen Lin felt exhausted. She couldn’t tell whether it was physical fatigue or a psychological burden. The longer she stayed there, the heavier the oppression seemed to grow, radiating from within. She wasn’t sure what was wrong with her today, but she felt particularly drained.
She had learned everything she wanted to know about Su Jing directly from Su Jing herself. The truth she had spent so long investigating was now laid bare before her eyes, yet Chen Lin felt no joy at all.
Each day dragged on endlessly. Chen Lin was beginning to forget her original purpose for being there. Time seemed to crawl unbearably slow. In a daze, she heard someone calling her name and finally realized it was a prison guard.
“Chen Lin, right? Someone wants to speak with you,” said a heavyset guard, who, for once, spoke to her with some friendliness. It seemed someone important must have arrived.
In the three months she had spent in prison, no one from the outside had contacted Chen Lin. Today wasn’t a visiting day either. Even on visiting days, the rules at Hell Island were extremely strict—many inmates never saw outsiders again after arriving. Who could possibly have pulled enough strings to reach her? Chen Lin couldn’t think of anyone who might have that kind of influence.
Perhaps her special treatment stirred some resentment among the inmates. The prison began to grow restless again. Not far away, Su Jing also noticed the commotion. She gave Chen Lin a meaningful look but did not get up. She simply watched her leave, as if none of this surprised her.
The prison guards started shouting at the unruly inmates, activating their electric batons. The loud crackling of electricity quickly subdued the crowd. Under the threat of the batons, the inmates soon fell silent.
Chen Lin quickly met the visitor—it was Lin Changsheng. It made sense; only someone like Lin Changsheng or Mo Zhaoyan would have the authority to visit a prisoner here. Before she had been imprisoned, Chen Lin had indeed sent Lin Changsheng a message, but she hadn’t expected him to actually come.
Chen Lin stared blankly at Lin Changsheng. Her physical discomfort made even the simplest movements sluggish. She had been disconnected from the outside world for three months. In the beginning, she would occasionally watch the television, but in the past two months, she had barely paid attention. She vaguely remembered something controversial happening during the finale of a variety show, but she hadn’t looked into it.
Lin Changsheng looked well, suggesting that there were no major troubles outside. He pointed at the phone through the glass, prompting Chen Lin to clumsily pick it up and hold it to her ear.
“Hello, Officer Chen,” Lin Changsheng said.
Although it was Lin Changsheng’s voice, the title “Officer Chen” still stung her. In her mind, she could almost hear Su Jing saying the same words.
Seeing that Chen Lin was unresponsive, Lin Changsheng called out again, “Officer Chen?”
“Ah?” Chen Lin finally muttered a distracted reply. She was clearly absent-minded; it seemed that Su Jing had truly affected her.
Lin Changsheng studied her carefully. Something about her seemed off—had she lost weight, or was she simply sleep-deprived? Of course, life in prison couldn’t have been easy; it was only natural for her to look worn down.
“Have you seen Su Jing?” he asked.
“I have,” Chen Lin replied, shaking her head slightly. She felt dizzy, and Lin Changsheng’s figure before her eyes even began to blur into two.
“Are you alright?” Lin Changsheng asked, concerned.
“No… I just feel a little dizzy…”
“Su Jing is dangerous,” Lin Changsheng said. “Don’t get too involved with her. Whatever it is, we’ll deal with it once you’re out. Don’t stay in there any longer. Recently, I’ve been working on getting you released…”
Before entering prison, Chen Lin had left evidence proving her innocence, ensuring she could be released early if necessary.
In truth, Chen Lin only caught parts of Lin Changsheng’s later words; the rest blurred into unintelligibility. In the end, she merely responded with a faint, “Alright…”
Because of Chen Lin’s sudden physical discomfort, their call had to end quickly. Staggering back toward her cell, she collapsed onto her bed and quickly slipped into unconsciousness. That very night, she developed a high fever.
The prison doctor administered an injection, which slightly improved her condition, but she remained feverish. Chen Lin lay in bed, sleeping fitfully. Sweat drenched her body as she tossed and turned, fever-induced dreams flashing vividly before her eyes: a sea of blood-red, familiar faces appearing and vanishing.
“Why… why…” she murmured in her fevered sleep.
At some point, Su Jing appeared at Chen Lin’s bedside. Gently, she placed a hand on Chen Lin’s burning forehead, feeling the sheen of sweat there. It didn’t seem like a simple fever. Although her condition had improved somewhat, there were clearly deeper issues at play.
Su Jing watched Chen Lin’s restless, suffering expression and lightly stroked her head, softly murmuring, “It’s okay… it’s okay…”
The infamous serial killer, once capable of unimaginable cruelty, now displayed a tenderness as soft as flowing water.
Su Jing’s hand slid down Chen Lin’s cheek to the gland at the nape of her neck. It was swollen and burning—signs that Chen Lin’s susceptibility phase might be starting.
This prison was unusual, housing only special types of criminals. As a result, Alpha and Omega inmates weren’t separated. Chaos from mating cycles had occurred before, but with the invention of inhibitor patches and the installation of air purifiers, such incidents had largely been suppressed.
Every cell was equipped with an air purifier to prevent pheromones from spreading.
Su Jing found the inhibitor patch on Chen Lin’s neck—it was probably one of Lin Changsheng’s inventions, now a daily necessity across the country. Su Jing’s slender fingers pinched the patch and gently peeled it away.
Instantly, Chen Lin’s pheromone filled the confined space—a crisp, refreshing scent, reminiscent of mint and lemon, but now saturated with a thick, aggressive intensity that coiled tightly around Su Jing.
Su Jing’s body reacted almost immediately, heat blooming within her. She tenderly caressed the gland at the back of Chen Lin’s neck, the most vulnerable and sensitive spot.
Memories surged into Su Jing’s mind: the time she had left deep knife marks on Lin Changsheng’s body, her hands drenched in his blood, feeling that same warmth now radiating through the air.
Gently, Su Jing stroked Chen Lin’s gland again. After all, she had been imprisoned for years; certain needs inevitably accumulated. With prey delivered to her door, how could she possibly resist?
Su Jing removed her own inhibitor patch as well. Her pheromone, intoxicating and addictive like opium, quickly entwined with Chen Lin’s.
Chen Lin, who had begun to feel slightly better, now felt as if she were being consumed by heat—like lying beneath a 40-degree summer sun with the heater blasting.
The unbearable warmth roused her from her delirium. As she blinked open her fevered, dazed eyes, she felt something heavy pressing down on her. Su Jing was already straddling her.
Chen Lin couldn’t see clearly; she only felt the aura surrounding Su Jing was as if it were seducing her. Su Jing gently caressed Chen Lin’s cheek and softly murmured, “It’s alright…”
Chen Lin braced herself and sat up. Staring into Su Jing’s face, she couldn’t help but lean forward, pressing a gentle kiss onto that poppy-like beauty. Su Jing responded enthusiastically, and the two quickly transitioned from kissing to caressing each other’s backs.
The air purifier worked silently in the darkness, yet the two intertwining scents continued to entangle in the space around them.
When Chen Lin woke up, her head throbbed painfully, and even her body ached all over. Memories of the previous night rushed back to her in fragments. She hastily threw off the blanket to check herself.
Her body was marked all over with crimson traces—there was no mistaking what had happened. As an adult, Chen Lin fully understood the implications. She sighed heavily and pulled the blanket back up, only to realize that Su Jing was still in the room.
Su Jing was watching her with an amused smile, having clearly witnessed all of Chen Lin’s frantic movements.
“Good morning~”
Su Jing’s mood seemed excellent. In contrast, Chen Lin was startled. “Y-you-you…” she stammered.
Su Jing suddenly leaned over and placed a light kiss on her cheek. The motion was swift and tender. Chen Lin immediately covered her face in embarrassment, inadvertently causing the blanket to slip off her body, exposing her fair skin and making the marks on it even more visible.
Su Jing’s gaze lingered on her for a moment before Chen Lin hurriedly pulled the blanket back up, stammering, “I-I-I…”
“Don’t be so nervous, A-Lin. We’re both adults here. Besides, in a place like this prison, everyone’s quite understanding,” Su Jing said with a chuckle.
At breakfast, Chen Lin listlessly poked at her food, utterly lacking an appetite. She wasn’t sure if it was because of what had happened the night before or because she was still recovering from her illness. Her susceptibility phase was usually very punctual; she couldn’t understand why it had suddenly arrived so abruptly and without warning.
She hadn’t expected Su Jing to take advantage of the situation. Su Jing, on the other hand, remained completely unaffected. She carried her food over and sat right next to Chen Lin.
Chen Lin instinctively wanted to move away, but she could still faintly smell her own pheromone lingering on Su Jing. While the room’s air purifier could eliminate airborne pheromones, the scent clinging to a person’s glands was much harder to erase.
Su Jing, utterly indifferent to the gazes of others, didn’t bother covering up her scent with an inhibitor. After just a morning of wandering around, almost the entire prison already knew what had happened between Su Jing and Chen Lin.
While relationships weren’t exactly rare in prison, the key point here was that it was Su Jing involved—and everyone knew it was Chen Lin who had once arrested her. It was the classic story of enemies becoming entangled in love and hate.
Chen Lin couldn’t get rid of Su Jing and had no choice but to pretend to ignore her. Unexpectedly, Su Jing even thoughtfully picked up food and placed it into Chen Lin’s bowl.
Just then, a figure stood before them.
“Well, if it isn’t Officer Chen,” a voice sneered. “Fallen from grace, have we?”
Chen Lin looked up and saw a tall, well-built woman standing there. Female Alphas like her were rare in prison, but Chen Lin recognized her immediately. It was someone she had personally arrested before her retirement.
Chen Lin remembered this case vividly: it involved the sexual assault of a female Omega, and this woman had been the mastermind. Shortly after reporting the assault, the Omega had been harassed by public opinion and eventually committed suicide.
The scandal had caused a huge stir. However, the mastermind had avoided a heavy sentence after being diagnosed with a “mental disorder.” Why was she now transferred here?
Her name was Liang Yu, from the wealthy Liang family that owned a prominent real estate company. Spoiled by money and power, Liang Yu had committed numerous crimes. She and Chen Lin were sworn enemies; Chen Lin hadn’t expected to meet her again here.
Several people stood behind Liang Yu, seemingly her underlings. Chen Lin had always suspected Liang Yu’s mental illness diagnosis was fabricated, but without evidence, she could only watch helplessly as Liang Yu received a lenient sentence—further compounding the injustice done to the victim.
Liang Yu sneered as she knocked over Chen Lin’s bowl. “What a pity, Officer Chen. You probably don’t know yet, do you? My case is being overturned. I’ll be out of here soon.”
“Impossible. The evidence was conclusive. How could it be overturned?”
“Remember, I’m officially classified as mentally ill. How could someone like me possibly orchestrate an assault?”
With a smug laugh, Liang Yu turned and walked away. Chen Lin could only stare after her in disbelief. She had only served a few years, and already the perpetrator was about to be set free while the victim’s body was barely cold.
Su Jing watched Chen Lin’s face grow increasingly grim and chuckled lightly.
“Thinking about becoming a righteous law enforcer again?” she teased. “If you want, I can help you~”
