After Becoming a Scummy Alpha, I Met the Reborn Omega - Chapter 46
Everyone had more or less finished reading their scripts. After all, it was a variety show — it couldn’t be as lengthy or detailed as a television drama. At the end of every script, a mission was revealed:
Tomorrow would be the day the Empress announced her successor. Due to the petitions of senior ministers, led by the Lin family, many wished to strip Hua Miaomiao of her Crown Princess title and instead name the last surviving heir of the previous dynasty as the new Crown Prince.
The Empress, of course, had no intention of appointing a Crown Prince. However, she was bitterly disappointed in Hua Miaomiao and had selected a child from her own clan to be named the new Crown Princess. Tomorrow, that announcement would be made.
Among the six of them, some were tasked with planning an assassination attempt to stop the Empress from appointing a new successor, while others were assigned to protect the Empress.
Each person could choose to either complete their assigned mission or betray their initial faction and switch sides.

“3v3, huh? Shouldn’t we figure out who’s in which faction now?”
Hua Miaomiao was the first to speak. She stood up, picked up a glass of wine, and happily began to drink. If one didn’t know she was the current head of the Hua family, just looking at her gleefully sneaking sips of wine, she appeared completely innocent — without a hint of political scheming.
Tang Ying shot her a glance but didn’t move her chopsticks. Her gaze, however, lingered on Hua Miaomiao’s chopsticks, noticing a faint red mark on the tip — a smudge from Hua Miaomiao’s lipstick.
Catching Tang Ying’s gaze, Hua Miaomiao blinked her large, doll-like eyes. She picked up a piece of celery — which she knew Tang Ying hated — and, in an exaggerated show of affection, placed it into Tang Ying’s bowl.
Tang Ying glanced at the celery — a vegetable she had always avoided — then silently put it into her mouth. It tasted terrible.
Unable to help herself, Tang Ying frowned slightly, her expression growing even colder.
Hua Miaomiao, undeterred, cuddled up to Tang Ying’s arm with complete disregard for their surroundings. She had never cared about rumors, nor did she understand what “proper occasion” meant. She clung to Tang Ying as if no one else existed.
“Is it good?” she asked playfully.
Tang Ying met her gaze — those starry, pitiful eyes looking up at her — and swallowed the “terrible” she was about to say.
“It’s fine,” she said instead.
Still hugging her arm, Hua Miaomiao slyly used her free hand to pile even more celery into Tang Ying’s bowl — a small mountain of it.
Looking at the growing pile of celery, Tang Ying suddenly broke into a rare smile. In return, she picked up a thin slice of carrot and held it up to Hua Miaomiao’s lips.
Seeing the sudden warmth in Tang Ying’s expression, Hua Miaomiao felt herself bewitched, her eyes filled entirely with Tang Ying.
Just like that, Hua Miaomiao opened her mouth and ate the carrot slice — only to realize something was wrong.
Wasn’t this the carrot she hated the most?!
But looking at Tang Ying’s gentle expression, there was no way she could spit it out now.
“It’s delicious! Everything you feed me is delicious,”
Hua Miaomiao said, forcing herself to praise it.
Of course, Tang Ying knew perfectly well that Hua Miaomiao hated carrots.
“Really? Then you should eat more,”
Tang Ying replied, and promptly filled Hua Miaomiao’s bowl with another generous helping.
Hua Miaomiao’s smile almost cracked under the pressure. Why must we hurt each other like this?
Meanwhile, their every move was being broadcast live.
“Is it just me, or does it seem like CEO Hua is really familiar with this Tang Tang?”
“No way — wasn’t Tang Tang supposed to be with CEO Mo?”
The moment Tang Ying had appeared on screen, her stunning looks immediately drew a wave of face fans. Originally thought to be a top-tier handsome A (alpha), it was later revealed she was an O (omega), which turned her nickname from “Tang Tang” into the sweeter “Sugar Tang.”
Across the table, Lin Changsheng watched their interaction with a darkening expression.
She had never had a good impression of Hua Miaomiao — partly due to jealousy. Lin Changsheng always felt Hua Miaomiao was some coquettish vixen trying to seduce her wife.
Glaring at Hua Miaomiao like a hawk, Lin Changsheng didn’t even notice Mo Zhaoyan quietly observing as well.
Mo Zhaoyan, having seen the actions across the table, silently started placing Lin Changsheng’s favorite foods into her bowl.
Unlike Hua Miaomiao’s flamboyant antics, Mo Zhaoyan was subtle — quietly adding food without drawing attention.
It wasn’t until Lin Changsheng suddenly noticed her bowl piled high with dishes that she realized something was off.
Did I really pick up this much food myself? she thought, puzzled.
Glancing at Mo Zhaoyan, she saw the woman’s face calm and unreadable.
To cover up her actions, Mo Zhaoyan picked up her wine and took a slow drink — but her eyes remained glued to Lin Changsheng, watching whether she would eat the food or not.
Lin Changsheng, unable to guess anything from Mo Zhaoyan’s expression, could only silently lower her head and eat.
Seeing Lin Changsheng eat happily, Mo Zhaoyan secretly took note of which dishes she preferred.
In her previous life, she had ignored so many small details — this time, she vowed to pay careful attention. She needed to truly understand Lin Changsheng.
Meanwhile, Gu Ruoyun sat in the center, watching the others subtly make their moves on each other.
She wanted to imitate them too, but as soon as she picked up her chopsticks, Bai Qin — seemingly alert — grabbed her own bowl and started eating quickly, leaving no chance for Gu Ruoyun to add anything for her.
Helpless, Gu Ruoyun had to serve herself and eat quietly.
“Hua Miaomiao, you’re about to be replaced as Crown Princess — doesn’t that make you part of the assassination faction?”
Lin Changsheng, feeling too full to eat anymore, let out a discreet burp and seized the opportunity to provoke Hua Miaomiao.
Hua Miaomiao, equally glad to escape from her culinary duel with Tang Ying, immediately put down her chopsticks.
“General Lin, as a representative of the Lin family, surely you’re also on the assassination team?”
“Seems like we’re teammates then,”
The two exchanged a few casual barbs, the tension between them subtly rising.
Hua Miaomiao nonchalantly leaned on Tang Ying’s shoulder and said,
“Wherever my Sugar Tang goes, that’s where I’ll go too.”
The livestream chat exploded instantly:
“Is our Hua Sanshui flirting with everyone?! But this is just too good to ship!”
“Sorry, CEO Mo, I’m briefly switching to the Sugar-Water (Tang-Shui) couple for now!”
This show was just too good for shipping — it felt like any two people could become a couple!
Tang Ying glanced at the “decoration” hanging on her arm — Hua Miaomiao — and tried to shake her off, but failed.
“Wherever CEO Mo goes, that’s where I’ll go,”
Tang Ying said stiffly.
Hua Miaomiao smacked Tang Ying lightly on the chest.
“We’re filming a show right now! Can you stop thinking about work for once? Remember your character setting — aren’t you supposed to be mine?”
Tang Ying recalled her script.
Her first meeting with Hua Miaomiao had been staged during the kidnapping — an elaborate plot orchestrated by her true organization. She had been sent to get close to Hua Miaomiao and to silently stay by her side ever since.
In truth, Tang Ying was a death guard loyal to the Mo family.
Thinking of how Hua Miaomiao might react when she eventually learned the truth, Tang Ying almost smiled.
“Of course, I am your personal guard. I will always stay by your side,”
she said — a line straight out of their script.
Still, Hua Miaomiao couldn’t help but beam with joy hearing it.
“Well then, since it’s my Empress, how could I possibly want to harm her?”
Hua Miaomiao openly admitted she belonged to the Empress’s protection faction.
At that moment, Mo Zhaoyan spoke up:
“The Mo family has always been loyal to the Empress, from the previous dynasty until today. We have never wavered in our loyalty. Naturally, I would not be part of the assassination faction.”
Mo Zhaoyan’s calm, serious face looked incapable of lying.
Lin Changsheng, seeing Mo Zhaoyan make her statement, made her choice immediately — no matter where Hua Miaomiao stood, she had already decided to follow her “wife.”
“Even though I’m from the Lin family, my father has never cared about me. I have no real ties to the Lin family. Wherever Mo Zhaoyan goes, that’s where I go,”
Lin Changsheng declared firmly.
Bai Qin, meanwhile, sat happily eating sunflower seeds like a true gossip-loving bystander, having no intention of voicing an opinion yet.
Hua Miaomiao seized the moment to jab again,
“General Lin, maybe you should get into character properly instead of thinking only about your wife?”
Lin Changsheng snorted,
“Mo Zhaoyan and I grew up together — childhood sweethearts who pledged themselves to each other. What’s wrong with me joining her faction?”
Mo Zhaoyan felt a little puzzled. Was that part in the script?
Still, she didn’t correct Lin Changsheng, watching the back-and-forth between her and Hua Miaomiao with some amusement.
Mo Zhaoyan’s silence was taken as tacit approval.
Having her wife’s support, Lin Changsheng grew even bolder:
“If Mo Zhaoyan is protecting the Empress, then I am too. Which means you two are also protecting the Empress. So the assassins must be…”
The four Empress supporters turned their gazes in unison toward the two remaining — Bai Qin and Gu Ruoyun.
Bai Qin was busy cracking sunflower seeds when she realized everyone was staring at her.
She looked around awkwardly, then pointed at herself.
“So… I’m the assassin?”
Given Bai Qin’s identity as a courtesan, she indeed had no deep ties to the court or the Empress. But then everyone’s eyes shifted to Gu Ruoyun — the newly appointed top scholar.
Gu Ruoyun calmly spoke up, maintaining her role perfectly:
“Tomorrow, I plan to request an imperial decree from the Empress — to ask for Bai Qin’s hand in marriage.”
Her professionalism was unmatched; she remained fully in character.
Bai Qin blinked in surprise.
“Bai Qin?” she repeated, pointing at herself again. “Me, again?”
Gu Ruoyun nodded, eyes full of tenderness.
“How could I possibly harm the Empress? I am her chosen top scholar — deeply grateful for her favor.”
At this moment, Hua Miaomiao slyly added,
“But I heard you already petitioned once for marriage and were rejected.”
After all, the scripts were interconnected, designed to add tension and make the game more fun — like a giant live-action murder mystery.
Hua Miaomiao continued,
“And rumor has it the former prince’s faction has been secretly recruiting supporters — including among potential royal consorts.”
As expected of the Crown Princess — she had access to more intelligence than anyone else.
But Gu Ruoyun stayed calm,
“They did approach me — but I refused.”
Bai Qin, uninterested in political intrigue, asked directly,
“You want to marry me?”
Gu Ruoyun gazed at her with deep affection, her eyes filled with warmth.
“Yes, A-Qin. No one can stop me from marrying you.”
Her sincerity made it impossible to tell whether she was acting or revealing true emotions.
Most viewers outside the screen simply marveled at the Best Actress’s professionalism — her acting so flawless that it felt real.
Bai Qin, however, almost faltered under Gu Ruoyun’s gaze.
Still, she quickly slipped back into character, replying in a soft, shy tone,
“I am but a humble courtesan. Why would you go to such lengths for me?”
Bai Qin privately thought this might be her best acting moment ever.
Taking advantage of the timing, Gu Ruoyun grabbed Bai Qin’s hand firmly and said,
“I fell for you at first sight. I would marry none but you. Heaven and earth can bear witness to my vow.”
Bai Qin tried to discreetly pull her hand back but found Gu Ruoyun gripping it tightly.
And she couldn’t very well fling her hand away in front of the cameras — that would be far too embarrassing for Gu Ruoyun.
Seeing Gu Ruoyun’s perfect, romantic act in front of the cameras, Bai Qin’s heart skipped a beat.
She hadn’t dared to imagine Gu Ruoyun would ever show such public affection toward her.
Meanwhile, it was Lin Changsheng and the others’ turn to become the spectators.
Watching them, Lin Changsheng felt a twinge of envy.
Noticing this, Mo Zhaoyan quietly reached out and grasped Lin Changsheng’s hand under the table.
Their hands rested together on Lin Changsheng’s thigh, hidden from the camera.
Lin Changsheng cautiously glanced at Mo Zhaoyan’s hand and gently tightened her grip in return.
Mo Zhaoyan squeezed back — and a warm current silently flowed between the two of them.
