After A Secret Marriage With The Trending Queen - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
When Shen Lu woke up, her head was pounding. She felt her body rocking unsteadily, and her hands and feet seemed to be bound. She struggled a few times to no avail and finally gave up. The occasional sound of car horns outside made her realize she was in a vehicle, blindfolded and tied up. The thought of being taken somewhere unknown filled her with a rising, primal terror, starting from her feet and tingling all the way up to her scalp.
Just then, Shen Lu’s foot seemed to hit something, and the person let out a cry of pain. She immediately recognized the voice and tentatively called out, “Ye Qin, Ye Qin, is that you?”
“Shen Lu?”
“It really is you!” Shen Lu was overjoyed.
“Where are we?” Ye Qin tried to move but found her limbs were tightly restricted.
“I don’t know either. I woke up like this,” Shen Lu fretted. “Where do you think they are taking us?”
Suddenly, the car made a sharp turn, leaving them both disoriented in the back. Shen Lu’s head hit something, and she groaned in pain. The road began to get bumpy, and the car swayed erratically, as if they had driven onto a muddy country road.
“I think we’ve been kidnapped,” Ye Qin said, her voice calm.
“Kidnapped?” Shen Lu was terrified. “Who would kidnap us? Is it for money?”
“It’s possible,” Ye Qin replied.
Shen Lu felt incredibly unlucky. The only and most important wedding in her life had been ruined by a kidnapping, and now their very lives were uncertain. The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt. No wonder her eyelid kept twitching last night—she’d had a premonition something would go wrong today.
“What should we do now? Can we escape?” Shen Lu asked fearfully.
“Don’t panic. We’re both tied up right now, so we can’t do anything. We’ll wait and see where they take us. Everyone at the wedding venue will definitely start looking when they realize we’re missing.”
Shen Lu sighed. “That’s all we can do.”
…
At the wedding venue, the disappearance of the two brides had already turned everything into a state of chaos. Grandma Ye was so shocked she fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Wang Lin and Yang Li went with her to the hospital. Only after Grandma’s condition stabilized did Wang Lin leave Yang Li to stay with her and go discuss a plan with Shen Lu’s family.
The area outside was jammed with media and fans, all uninformed and clamoring for an explanation. The crowds caused severe congestion on the nearby roads, eventually requiring traffic police to intervene to maintain order.
Wang Lin received a notification from the police and quickly had to figure out how to disperse the crowd. She had no choice but to face the media and fans and tell them the truth.
“Ye Qin and Shen Lu did not make it to the wedding venue. They have mysteriously disappeared, and we are currently searching for them. We hope that if anyone receives any information about them, they will inform us immediately.”
The news instantly became a top trend.
The topic Ye Qin Shen Lu Wedding Disappearance became the number one real-time search and discussion—it was truly an unsettled National Day.
Mother Shen sat crying. “How can they just disappear? I don’t know if they’re okay.”
“Why don’t we go to the police station first? Just worrying here won’t help,” Father Shen suggested.
Shen Jing drove his parents to the nearest police station to report it, but the officer said a missing person case could not be filed until 24 hours had passed.
“How about this: come back and file the report after 24 hours. Maybe they’re just playing a prank and purposely hiding,” the officer suggested.
“……”
Shen Jing reluctantly dragged his parents out of the station. Without a police report, and with no clues in a vast sea of people, where were they supposed to look?
What should have been a lively and joyous wedding had turned into a distressing missing persons case. The media wasn’t idle; since they were already there, they certainly had to write some news and take some photos to justify their presence.
…
After a long, bumpy journey, the car finally seemed to stop. Immediately following was the sound of someone opening the door and getting out. The back door was opened, and before Shen Lu could react, she was grabbed by the arm and pulled out of the car. “Let go of me! Let go of me!” She struggled fiercely, but her strength was no match for her captor, and it was futile.
Ye Qin was also dragged out. She was much calmer. In this situation, the only thing she could do was stay level-headed and not panic, which would allow her to think of a better solution.
They were led into a building. Someone brought ropes and tied them to chairs. Only after they were securely bound were the hoods pulled off their heads. The light suddenly rushed in, feeling almost blinding.
It took a while for Shen Lu’s eyes to adjust. She looked around and saw they were in an abandoned warehouse, desolate and dilapidated. The person who had just helped them hadn’t left yet. Shen Lu shouted at the person’s back, “Hey! Why are you kidnapping us? Hey, don’t go!”
“Shen Lu, stop yelling. It’s no use,” Ye Qin said.
Shen Lu pouted. She never imagined that a kidnapping plot seen only on TV would happen to her. “I… I’m scared… I’m really scared.”
Ye Qin tried to inch closer to Shen Lu. “Trust me, we will be okay, alright?”
Shen Lu nodded, her emotions settling slightly. “Then, what do we do next?”
“Let’s wait and see… The person behind this should show up. We’ll see what their demands are. If it’s for money, everything will be easy,” Ye Qin said. What Ye Qin worried about was not a kidnapping for money, but one driven by revenge, which would be much trickier to handle.
…
Meanwhile, Shen Jing suddenly received a call from an old acquaintance he hadn’t contacted in a long time.
In this stressful situation, Shen Jing didn’t want to deal with him, but the person kept calling relentlessly. Finally, Shen Jing couldn’t take it anymore. He pulled the car over to the side of the road, answered the phone, and started yelling.
“I said, what is wrong with you…”
Before he could finish, the person interrupted him.
“Do you want to find your sister?”
“What do you mean? Are you saying you can help?”
“If I couldn’t help, I wouldn’t have called you.”
“What do I need to do? You’re not going to make me sleep with you again, are you?” Shen Jing sneered, feeling somewhat embarrassed. However, if the person genuinely offered his sister’s safety in exchange and demanded sex, Shen Jing was willing.
The person chuckled. “You’re still so cute. How about this: I’ll give you an address. Come meet me here.”
