After A Secret Marriage Agreement With A Rival Omega - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
“The unique moment she and Jian Jixing experienced together.”
The night was quiet. No one knew whose heart was thumping so loudly, but Jian Jixing heard it all jumbled up.
She didn’t get up, but she already knew what Sheng Ruxi meant. She lay silently on the bed. Even though her fever had broken earlier, Sheng Ruxi’s words made her feel hot all over again.
Why did she want a hug? Was it because of the stories she told? But she didn’t even care about them anymore.
When Sheng Ruxi saw that Jian Jixing wasn’t moving or speaking, her impatient nature took over. She walked over, placed her hands on Jian Jixing’s shoulders, and prepared to lift her up to complete this one-sided embrace.
Jian Jixing suddenly sat up, taking control, and pulled Sheng Ruxi into her arms.
“Is that enough?”
The surroundings were very quiet. Sheng Ruxi slowly wrapped her arms around Jian Jixing’s back, holding on tightly.
“No,” she said.
Sheng Ruxi’s pheromones began to emerge, a slightly sour berry scent. Jian Jixing didn’t speak or let go. She just inhaled slowly.
But she finally figured it out; it was her own heart beating, and it was beating very fast.
At the same time, she felt Sheng Ruxi’s hand gently patting her back. The action was so clumsy that it felt deliberate.
This deliberate action, coming from Sheng Ruxi, turned into a kind of endearing naivete that melted her heart. Jian Jixing sighed inwardly. It seemed she had no resistance to the nighttime version of Sheng Ruxi.
“Have you had enough of the hug?” After a while, Jian Jixing spoke up. “You don’t need to feel too much sympathy for that middle school fever. It didn’t turn me into an idiot, after all.”
Sheng Ruxi pushed her away as if she had been scalded and then helped her by the shoulders. “Trying to be romantic will be the death of you.”
Jian Jixing chuckled and placed her pillow on the side where Sheng Ruxi was about to lie down. “Okay, you’ve suffered enough. Can you sleep now?”
This was a double bed. As long as the two of them lay close, it was spacious enough. After Sheng Ruxi lay down, Jian Jixing turned on her side, leaving more space for Sheng Ruxi.
At the same time, she slowly released her own pheromones, keeping them at a level that would make Sheng Ruxi feel at ease without being offensive.
Before long, Sheng Ruxi seemed to be asleep. They didn’t talk anymore. Jian Jixing could now see Sheng Ruxi’s face. Her eyes were closed, and she looked very well-behaved.
She suddenly felt thirsty, and the dryness in her throat was obvious. It tickled all the way down to her back, which had just been gently patted by Sheng Ruxi. She suddenly wanted a glass of water.
She was about to get up when a cough came. Jian Jixing quickly covered her mouth with her hand. To avoid waking Sheng Ruxi, she swallowed those dry, tickly coughs.
She didn’t expect this small action to cause her body to react negatively. Before Jian Jixing could fully get up, a series of coughs were about to escape. Jian Jixing was in discomfort and was about to get out of bed when two fingers suddenly pressed against her chest.
They were right in the middle, and she pressed twice.
Jian Jixing didn’t have time to wonder why Sheng Ruxi was still awake when she finally coughed it out.
“It’s just a cough. Why are you forcing yourself to hold it in?” Sheng Ruxi frowned, her eyes complex, and her hands honestly patted Jian Jixing’s back. “Why do you always suppress your needs?”
Jian Jixing was helpless. “I just didn’t want to wake you up. I was afraid you’d get up and say I was interrupting your beauty sleep.”
“You really are…” Sheng Ruxi felt like she had hugged Jian Jixing for nothing. “I’m not the kind of woman who would scold a patient. You want water, right? I’ll get it.”
“How rare,” Jian Jixing said, pretending to be pitiful. “This is the first time someone has gotten me water in the middle of the night.”
Okay. Still pretending?
Sheng Ruxi immediately got out of bed, didn’t even turn on the light, and went to a familiar spot to get a glass of water. She held it to Jian Jixing’s lips, forcing her to drink quickly.
The lights were off, so she was feeding her blindly, but she remembered to hold her hand under Jian Jixing’s chin. Jian Jixing drank silently. Sheng Ruxi felt the cup’s weight disappear a little too quickly. When her thumb touched her cheek, she felt moisture.
Suddenly, Sheng Ruxi’s movements stopped. Her voice was low. “Why are you crying?”
She was about to turn on the light, but Jian Jixing stopped her.
“You’re feeding me too fast. It’s just water on my face,” Jian Jixing’s voice was very calm. She even chuckled. “Don’t say such silly things.”
Sheng Ruxi waited a moment before speaking. “Crying is a way to release emotions. It’s not embarrassing. Do you think it’s embarrassing?”
Jian Jixing agreed. “I think it’s not embarrassing when you cry.” Her voice turned to a teasing one. “You look very pretty when you cry.”
Sheng Ruxi choked. She immediately knew what Jian Jixing was referring to. She took the water glass, put it aside, pushed Jian Jixing back down, and covered herself with the blanket. “Sleep!”
Jian Jixing smiled without saying a word.
With that glass of water, she was much less thirsty, and sleepiness soon followed. Before falling asleep, Jian Jixing heard Sheng Ruxi say something next to her ear, “Jian Jixing, if it weren’t for the competition in middle school, do you think we could have been friends?”
Could they?
Jian Jixing answered her, “No.”
If she had a choice—she didn’t want to be Sheng Ruxi’s friend at all.
**
Jian Jixing slept very soundly and for a long time.
When she woke up, the spot next to her was empty. Sheng Ruxi wasn’t in the room. She knew she had gone out to film.
After a night of rest, she felt much better. Jian Jixing quickly got ready to go back to work. After eating, she was ready to go and join the film crew.
On the way, she received more calls of concern from Sheng Ruxi’s parents, which she thanked them for one by one.
At the same time, she also saw a message from Xie Ruizhang, saying that she had called the actor who would be partnering with Sheng Ruxi today.
When she saw the photo Xie Ruizhang sent, a hint of playfulness appeared in Jian Jixing’s eyes.
Someone was coming to collect a debt from Sheng Ruxi.
She had to go and see.
Today’s filming was about some artisans in the scenic commercial street, and there were also some extra shots that needed to be done. Everyone was busy on set. When Jian Jixing arrived, they happened to be taking a break. Jian Jixing immediately spotted Sheng Ruxi sitting with her face covered on a rest chair.
Sheng Ruxi had a script on her face and didn’t know she had arrived. Jian Jixing directly took the umbrella from a staff member nearby, signaling that she would take over.
The person next to her walked away, making some footsteps. Sheng Ruxi then asked, “Has Jian Jixing arrived?”
Jian Jixing used a quiet voice and said, “No. Miss Sheng, you’re missing Director Jian so much, you’ve already asked several times.”
Sheng Ruxi snorted. “Who’s missing her? Not me. I was just thinking what a shame it would be. We’re filming the night scenery of the Valley of the Peach Blossoms tonight, and isn’t there a wishing pond? Jian Jixing would definitely like those flashy things.”
“You want to see the night scenery?”
“No, I just like to see new things,” Sheng Ruxi said, her voice muffled by the script covering her face. “Otherwise, Jian Jixing would say I didn’t include her and get all flustered.”
As she said that, she seemed to really see Jian Jixing getting flustered and couldn’t help but laugh.
Jian Jixing couldn’t keep up the act anymore. “If you want to go, just go. You don’t have to insist on me coming with you.”
“Ah!” Sheng Ruxi pulled the script down and saw Jian Jixing. Her expression immediately changed. She jumped to her feet. “Jian Jixing, you’re messing with me, trying to get information out of me?”
“Do you even need me to try?” Jian Jixing lowered her head, but the umbrella was still firmly over Sheng Ruxi’s head, giving her shade. “If you wanted to go with me, you just had to tell me. There’s no need to go to such great lengths.”
Sheng Ruxi’s face was a little red. She rolled up the script and poked Jian Jixing with it. “Don’t be so full of yourself.”
Just as she said that, there was a commotion from Xie Ruizhang’s side. Jin Yue came over, following Xie Ruizhang. Her gaze quickly locked onto Sheng Ruxi and she waved excitedly in her direction.
Sheng Ruxi didn’t even notice Jin Yue. Jian Jixing reminded her, “Oh, your co-star. Aren’t you going to catch up?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
Jian Jixing turned her head to examine her expression. “A noble person has a short memory. Do you really not remember anything?”
Seeing Sheng Ruxi’s impatience, Jian Jixing added, “If I’m not mistaken, she confessed to you.”
Sheng Ruxi: “What are you talking about?” There were too many alphas who had confessed to her after her differentiation. How could she remember every single one of them?
“Think about it. In the piano room, playing ‘The Wedding March.’ You even scolded her, and you scolded me too.”
Sheng Ruxi was about to object, but with Jian Jixing’s reminder, some fragmented memories hit her mind and began to slowly piece together.
Jin Yue…
Ah! She remembered. Wasn’t Jin Yue the best piano player in the class next door during music class?
And when Jin Yue confessed, she had asked Sheng Ruxi to meet her in the piano room.
As soon as she entered, she was greeted with a graceful and melodious “Wedding March.” This was a big shock for them, as they were still in middle school at the time.
They were still so young. They didn’t even understand what liking someone was, and yet they were already at “The Wedding March”?
Sheng Ruxi thought it was crazy, but she was good-natured enough not to interrupt the performance, thinking maybe it was just a performance. She was willing to give Jin Yue a round of applause.
But unfortunately, after the performance, Jin Yue pulled out a bouquet of white roses and confessed to Sheng Ruxi.
Sheng Ruxi didn’t like white roses. She liked strong, passionate colors.
Jin Yue, who was playing the piano and holding white roses while confessing, was a shy person. Her words were slow but hit home.
“Sheng Ruxi, I, I… I like you. Can you accept my confession?”
Sheng Ruxi politely asked, “Why should I accept your confession? Don’t you know I like Chu Wu?”
Jin Yue said, “Because Jian Jixing is about to confess to Chu Wu. They’ve always been so close. It’s normal for them to get together after she confesses. You don’t have to have a crush on Chu Wu anymore. Let me pursue you.”
What? Jian Jixing, that cheater, was preparing to confess first? Sheng Ruxi’s face went dark.
She gritted her teeth. “Don’t dream.” She actually wanted to say that to Jian Jixing, that she shouldn’t think about confessing before her.
Jin Yue heard it and became anxious. “Ruxi, it’s true. I can definitely be a more suitable alpha for you. I will always like you.”
“Just because you always like me means I have to be with you? Stop fantasizing!” Sheng Ruxi lost her patience. “The chances of me being with Jian Jixing are higher than me being with you.”
…
Jian Jixing raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly. “Remember now? You even used my name to ward off an admirer.”
Sheng Ruxi’s eyes widened in shock. “How do you know that? Jian Jixing, how do you know that?!”
“I was sleeping behind a piano rack in the back. Who knew you guys would choose the piano room and play ‘The Wedding March’?”
She was too embarrassed to interrupt.
After differentiating into an alpha, Jian Jixing spent a lot of time not liking to stay in the classroom. During class, she would wander around the empty classrooms. It didn’t affect her studies, so the teachers never scolded her.
“Ah—hide me!” Sheng Ruxi’s memory flooded back. She used Jian Jixing to block herself and sat down, covering her face with the script, pretending to be dead.
How embarrassing. It was so embarrassing.
It wasn’t embarrassing to meet Jin Yue; it was embarrassing that Jian Jixing had heard every single word of the confession. Sheng Ruxi knew Jian Jixing would definitely make fun of her.
Jian Jixing laughed so hard but still went over to say hello to Jin Yue, stopping her from coming over to Sheng Ruxi.
But she couldn’t block her for long. Jin Yue was in the scene tonight, and as Sheng Ruxi was slowly following Jian Jixing to review the footage, Jin Yue came over excitedly.
“Ruxi! Ruxi!”
Sensing Jian Jixing’s gaze, Sheng Ruxi responded lazily, with no big reaction. Only when the cameras started rolling did she quickly get into character, showing a sincere smile when facing Jin Yue.
The scene was quite simple. Sheng Ruxi and Jin Yue just had to walk along the commercial street, casually find a few stalls, and talk about their thoughts on the street.
The content was already set in the script, so it wasn’t difficult for Sheng Ruxi.
Jian Jixing came to the front of the camera, quietly waiting for the two of them to finish their performance.
The entire commercial street was not cleared out, but this was a new scenic area, and there were no events happening. The number of people at night wasn’t too large. The cameras were pointed at them, and various lights were set up, making it look very beautiful.
To match the local customs, there was also a large wishing pond with several floating lanterns on the side of the street.
Sheng Ruxi was serious about her work and didn’t want to get too involved with Jin Yue, so they finished in one take. Everyone cheered and packed up. Sheng Ruxi immediately went to Jian Jixing.
Jian Jixing still remembered Sheng Ruxi saying she wanted to go to the wishing pond during the day, so she didn’t leave. But the wind was strong at night, so she had an extra jacket on her arm.
But just as Sheng Ruxi got to her, Jin Yue followed.
“Ruxi, where are you going?” Jin Yue caught up with Sheng Ruxi eagerly, not forgetting to say hello to Jian Jixing, and then said, “Why don’t we go to my place early? I’ll play the piano for you.”
Jian Jixing: “…” A troublesome admirer, indeed. Look, you’re going to have to listen to ‘The Wedding March’ again.
“I’m going to the wishing pond. Don’t follow me,” Sheng Ruxi said, looking at her with a look of utter exasperation.
“Do you still need to make a wish? You’re so brilliant; anything you want is within your grasp,” Jin Yue said. “Besides, there will be more people at the wishing pond, and tourists will recognize us.”
Sheng Ruxi put on her sunglasses directly. “Who said I was going with you? Director Jian told me yesterday that she wanted me to go with her.”
Did I? I never did, Jian Jixing said inwardly. Sheng Ruxi directly turned her head, and Jian Jixing smiled. “That’s right. We’re already here.”
It was a very perfunctory response. Sheng Ruxi decided not to hold it against her, since she was the one who had started the whole lie in the first place.
Jin Yue didn’t give up and took a few more steps to catch up to Sheng Ruxi. “Ruxi, I took this opportunity because of you… I just wanted to see you.”
“What does that have to do with me?” Sheng Ruxi turned her head, her eyes under the black sunglasses were cold. “You’re just benefiting from your family. There are plenty of people in the industry who want to see me. Do I have to meet every single one of them?”
Jin Yue was taken aback. “I didn’t mean it like that! Aren’t you also working with Director Jian now? You…”
She awkwardly looked at Sheng Ruxi, knew she couldn’t stop her, and then turned to Jian Jixing and whispered, “Director Jian, they say that wishing pond is very effective. Why don’t you write down that you and Chu Wu will end up together? It’s sure to come true.”
Jian Jixing: “…” Your calculations are all over my face.
Sheng Ruxi: “I heard that!”
“Okay, let’s go.” Jian Jixing found it funny. She told Jin Yue to leave and took Sheng Ruxi toward the wishing pond.
The number of tourists here had indeed increased, but they didn’t have any staff with them. One was wearing a mask, and the other was wearing sunglasses. It was also night, so no one followed them.
Sheng Ruxi picked up a pen and paper next to the wishing pond. She thought for a moment and wanted to write down that Jian Jixing would never be with Chu Wu. But then she suddenly remembered middle school Jian Jixing.
She pursed her lips and wrote a line on the paper.
“What did you write?” Jian Jixing’s voice suddenly appeared next to her.
Sheng Ruxi immediately covered her paper and stuffed it into the lantern. “I cursed you that you’ll never be with Chu Wu and that you’ll have to watch my and Chu Wu’s wedding.”
“That sounds like a very poisonous curse,” Jian Jixing said with a laugh. She watched as Sheng Ruxi released the lantern into the pond. The faint but stubborn candlelight flickered, slowly drifting toward the center of the pond.
Sheng Ruxi saw that Jian Jixing wasn’t doing anything. “Aren’t you going to write one?”
Jian Jixing said, “I don’t believe in this kind of thing.”
She only believed in working hard for what you want.
Sheng Ruxi was speechless. “It’s just a nice wish. You have no romance.”
Jian Jixing didn’t mind Sheng Ruxi saying that. After spending a long time with Sheng Ruxi, she seemed to have gotten used to this kind of conversation.
Work was finished, and the staff had all dispersed. After releasing the lantern, Sheng Ruxi wanted to walk around, but as a public figure, she would be surrounded if she did. Jian Jixing walked with her but also thought about what Jin Yue had said.
“Aren’t you afraid of being recognized and causing a commotion?”
“I don’t care. If I want to do something, I’ll do it. Just like if I want something, I have to have it.”
“That’s true,” Jian Jixing nodded. “So when you don’t get what you want, you tend to throw a tantrum.”
“I don’t like the feeling of not getting something,” Sheng Ruxi said after thinking for a moment. “No one would like that.”
Jian Jixing looked at Sheng Ruxi’s expression at that moment and smiled. “Spoiled. There will always be things you want but can’t have.”
Sheng Ruxi was actually very aware of this.
It had always been too easy for her to get things since she was a child. So, she naturally felt that as long as she wanted something, she could get it.
There were so many beautiful things in the world, and she was interested in so many of them. It was impossible to have them all. But she could try to have as many as possible.
Jian Jixing asked, “You only chase things you don’t like for a long time. Jin Yue likes you, so you won’t like her.”
Sheng Ruxi disagreed. “That’s because I didn’t like her in the first place.”
Jian Jixing changed the subject. “Then you won’t last long with Chu Wu either, because you’ve already gotten her.”
Sheng Ruxi subconsciously objected. “No, that’s not the same thing.”
“Is it because Chu Wu has never responded to your love, so you’re curious about her, and you think that’s love?” Jian Jixing’s breathing was even, and she asked calmly, “Is that right?”
Sheng Ruxi frowned. “No!”
Jian Jixing nodded. “Then… it’s because I was also chasing her, and you didn’t want to lose to me. Because I confessed to Chu Wu first, you always regretted not being able to beat me to it, and you hoped to be better than me in other ways.”
Sheng Ruxi was visibly provoked. “No way! Stop talking nonsense!”
Jian Jixing couldn’t help but laugh. She walked a few steps ahead, walking backward, facing Sheng Ruxi.
Even though Sheng Ruxi was scolding her, she wasn’t angry. She turned her head and looked at Sheng Ruxi, thinking that she was actually very cute like this.
Someone probably said there was a film crew here. The number of people near the wishing pond started to increase. They were also occasionally looking at them. Jian Jixing was a little afraid that these people would block the road. She held out her hand to Sheng Ruxi.
“Hold my hand. I’ll take you.”
“Where are you taking me?”
“I don’t know,” Jian Jixing was still walking backward, but her hand was steadily extended toward Sheng Ruxi. “You just need to follow me.”
Sure enough, as more people arrived, their suppressed excitement exploded. Someone was the first to say, “It’s Sheng Ruxi!!!”
Immediately, the voices of many people came rushing in.
“And Director Jian! They came here to film that charity movie, right?”
“Oh my gosh, I thought they had a bad relationship. It looks like they’re okay! Ah, I want to go up and get an autograph!”
“Quick, quick! Ah! Director Jian! Sheng Ruxi! Go after them! They’re running—”
“Hurry up,” Jian Jixing said, looking at Sheng Ruxi’s eyes amidst the rising noise. “We need to go, unless you want to cause a commotion here?”
Sheng Ruxi reached out, placing her hand in Jian Jixing’s.
She has acted in so many plays. Every time, her heart was calm. Only her face would match the script and lines, showing the appropriate actions and emotions.
But it had never been like this time.
She didn’t want Jian Jixing to see that she was excited. So her face was calm, even with a hint of confusion.
But her heart was in turmoil. The moment she placed her hand in Jian Jixing’s, a sense of an uncontrollable thrill rose in her chest. It felt swollen and numb, like a wave rushing into her chest.
She and Jian Jixing started running.
They didn’t know how far they ran, how many people they passed, what time it was, or even their sense of the world. They were just holding hands, ignoring the people following them, and running wildly, as if to shake off everything.
Only this moment was so clear.
It was the unique moment she and Jian Jixing experienced together.
Slowly, all the sounds faded behind them. She saw Jian Jixing’s easy and unrestrained profile. Every inch of her body was screaming with joy and happiness.
At this moment.
Sheng Ruxi felt like she was seeing the real Jian Jixing. She sincerely hoped Jian Jixing could always stay this way.
Sheng Ruxi suddenly understood a little bit why Jian Jixing always wanted to stay here. She used to think Jian Jixing was strange, wanting to suffer here during her rare vacations. Now she had a faint realization that only at a time like this could Jian Jixing briefly be herself.
Her unconventional side was just another layer of disguise she used to protect herself.
Sheng Ruxi felt as if something had pricked her heart. She couldn’t help but be stunned. Sensing her inattention, Jian Jixing immediately squeezed her hand. “Stay close.”
Jian Jixing took Sheng Ruxi and ran all the way out of the scenic area. They got into the waiting car and finally escaped the pursuit of the large crowd, allowing Sheng Ruxi to be safe.
She was still out of breath and didn’t even realize she had a smile on her face. She turned her head and found that Sheng Ruxi was staring at her.
“What?”
“Nothing. I just realized that you’re much more pleasant to look at tonight,” Sheng Ruxi said honestly.
“You’ll find me even more pleasant in the future,” Jian Jixing said in a light tone, joking with her. “Don’t be too quick to trust alphas, including me, Chu Wu, and Jin Yue.”
Sheng Ruxi scoffed and ignored her words.
Last night, Sheng Ruxi had slept with Jian Jixing, but that was a special circumstance. However, Sheng Ruxi also hadn’t received a room card today… Because Jian Jixing had accompanied Sheng Ruxi to the night market and they were delayed by the tourists, if they wanted to sleep in separate rooms, they would have to find Xie Ruizhang.
Jian Jixing didn’t want to seem like she cared too much about this. She went up the elevator with Sheng Ruxi. Seeing that Sheng Ruxi didn’t bring it up, she didn’t either.
When they got to the room, they found that both double beds were already neatly made. Housekeeping had already cleaned the room today.
“Where are you sleeping tonight?”
Sheng Ruxi glanced at her. “…I don’t know if Xie Ruizhang is asleep. If not, I’ll go get a room card from her.”
Even though Sheng Ruxi felt it wasn’t necessary, she said it to cover her tracks. Jian Jixing didn’t stop her, but as Sheng Ruxi was about to walk out, she suddenly said, “I’ll go.”
It didn’t look right for an omega to go and find someone so late at night.
“No, you can’t go!” Sheng Ruxi said. “Xie Ruizhang already likes you. If you go knock on her door so late at night, who knows what she’ll think.”
“Then let’s not go,” Jian Jixing said, going along with it. “There are two double beds in the room anyway.”
Sheng Ruxi didn’t know why she was a little nervous. Her palms were a little sweaty. She nodded. “Okay.”
The two of them walked to their respective beds at the same time. Jian Jixing saw Sheng Ruxi go to the bed, then stopped and headed to the bathroom. But Sheng Ruxi also seemed to have the same idea and was also heading to the bathroom.
Jian Jixing didn’t know why there was this awkwardness between them after they entered the room. She broke the silence. “You go first?”
Sheng Ruxi didn’t argue. She grabbed her clothes and went to the bathroom. Over half an hour later, Jian Jixing was already waiting with her clothes.
There wasn’t much conversation. When Jian Jixing entered the steamy bathroom, she looked at the clothes in her hand and suddenly started to laugh.
In her rush, she had grabbed the wrong clothes to sleep in. The shirt wasn’t made of a soft material. It was a stiff, matching button-down shirt.
Jian Jixing washed up quickly. She had originally wanted to use cold water to stop her mind from racing. But she had just recovered from a cold and was in a high-altitude area. She shouldn’t take such a risk.
When she came out, she saw Sheng Ruxi lying in her bed.
Jian Jixing, uncharacteristically, didn’t ask if Sheng Ruxi was in the wrong bed. Her gaze froze for a moment, and then she silently walked toward Sheng Ruxi’s tidy bed.
Halfway there, Sheng Ruxi called out to her.
“Did you go to the wrong bed?”
Who was the one in the wrong bed? Jian Jixing said to herself. She had a feeling this wasn’t a mistake but a deliberate coincidence.
“If you want to sleep in my bed, go ahead,” Jian Jixing said. “You’re in the right place. I’m the one who went to the wrong one.”
Sheng Ruxi was more direct. “Come over here. Let’s sleep the same way we did last night. I feel more comfortable sleeping with you.”
Jian Jixing: “…”
She stood with her back to Sheng Ruxi, in the middle of the two beds, like she was standing on the border of a chessboard.
After a long time, she said in a low voice, “Not tonight.” What if her cold wasn’t completely gone and she gave it to Sheng Ruxi?
“Jian Jixing, what on earth is in your head?” Sheng Ruxi looked at her in shock. “I just said I sleep better with you.”
Jian Jixing took a deep breath. She also felt that she was overthinking. Why was she being so timid? Even if something did happen, the alpha wouldn’t be the one at a disadvantage. Hearing Sheng Ruxi’s tone, it sounded like her own thoughts were impure.
Jian Jixing turned around, lifted the blanket, and got into bed, keeping a slight distance from Sheng Ruxi. Then she turned off the light.
The room became dark. Jian Jixing was sure her pillow hadn’t even warmed up yet when Sheng Ruxi moved closer.
Jian Jixing heard her “tisk” in annoyance.
“Your clothes are so uncomfortable and stiff to lean on,” Sheng Ruxi’s voice was very clear next to her ear. She said, “Maybe you should take them off.”
