Chapter 32.1: Housewife 32
In the early morning, Tang Yiqing’s family of three woke up. The first thing Tang Siwen did upon waking was look for his mommy. Tang Yiqing rubbed his eyes and pulled the child into his arms.
Tang Siwen moved his little hands and feet, lying directly against Tang Yiqing’s chest. Lately, the child seemed to have developed a habit of listening to Tang Yiqing’s heartbeat every morning and evening.
Tang Yiqing patted his back. “Mommy needs to get up. Go to your daddy.”
Shen Shuowen was leaning against the headboard replying to emails. Hearing Tang Yiqing’s words, he reached out his hands toward Tang Siwen. “Come to Daddy.”
Tang Siwen glanced at him but didn’t move; he remained huddled against Tang Yiqing’s chest. “Mommy, just let me lean here for a little longer.”
Tang Yiqing couldn’t help but chuckle and exchanged a look with Shen Shuowen. Shen Shuowen looked somewhat helpless; he leaned over and pinched the back of Tang Siwen’s neck. “You’re an Alpha. You can’t be this clingy to your mother, you know.”
Tang Siwen didn’t listen at all. He wrapped his arms tighter around Tang Yiqing. “Well, Daddy is an Alpha too, so why is he so clingy to Mommy? I think Daddy is just afraid that if I cling to Mommy, his time to cling to her will be cut short.”
Shen Shuowen froze, once again struck by Tang Siwen’s quick wit. For a moment, he was actually rendered speechless by a child. Meanwhile, Tang Yiqing was giggling on the other side. He stroked Tang Siwen’s neck; now, Tang Siwen finally looked like a real child, and his personality had become much more cheerful—this was exactly what he wanted.
At that moment, a phone call broke the peaceful atmosphere of the family of three. Shen Shuowen looked at the caller ID; it was his mother, Lin Ruizhi.
Shen Shuowen answered the call. Tang Yiqing and Tang Siwen both went quiet. Shen Shuowen never avoided them when taking calls.
“Mother,” Shen Shuowen said.
“Are you at home?” Lin Ruizhi asked, her voice sounding urgent.
Hearing her tone, Shen Shuowen immediately realized something was wrong. “What happened?”
“Zeqi is gone. He ran away from the hospital!” Lin Ruizhi’s voice was filled with exhaustion and heartache. “In his condition, he absolutely cannot be discharged. His pheromones are unstable. If an accident happens…”
Shen Shuowen was startled. “I’ll go find him.”
Lin Ruizhi’s voice turned raspy. “He might have gone to find you…”
Shen Shuowen paused without speaking. Then he heard Lin Ruizhi continue, “He said before… that he would definitely find Yiqing. He said all the treatments were useless, and that he would only get better if he was by Tang Yiqing’s side. He might have gone to your place.”
Shen Shuowen’s face tightened. “Mother, this is preposterous.”
Lin Ruizhi sighed, seemingly helpless. “But who can stop that temper of his? Shuowen… right now Mingzheng is also hospitalized. I really don’t want anything else to happen to our Shen family… if he really finds you… don’t let anything go wrong with him, okay? His physical stats are currently very poor. The doctors said his condition is life-threatening.”
As she spoke, Lin Ruizhi’s tone grew softer and even more desperate. “If necessary, let Yiqing give him a little bit of pheromones. Just consider it an act of pity for him…”
Shen Shuowen’s brow furrowed deeper and deeper. He hung up the call, his expression very grim. Tang Yiqing placed his hand on the back of Shen Shuowen’s hand. “Is Zeqi’s condition that bad?”
Shen Shuowen looked at him. “You should call him Shen Zeqi, and call me Shuowen or Hubby.”
Tang Yiqing was stunned. He hadn’t expected Shen Shuowen to be jealous as well; in his impression, the man was a very broad-minded person.
“Fine, fine, Shen Zeqi.” Seeing the level of sourness in Shen Shuowen right now, Tang Yiqing didn’t say much more, but if Shen Zeqi’s condition was truly that bad, he still wanted to help. After all, the man had been good to him in the past and had helped him.
At this point, Shen Shuowen got up. “I’ll go find him and tie him back to the hospital.”
Just as he spoke, the doorbell rang. Shen Shuowen froze, his face darkening completely. He walked straight out of the bedroom.
Fearing a conflict, Tang Yiqing followed him out. Shen Shuowen opened the door and saw Shen Zeqi standing outside.
The man’s face was pale, and he looked like he had lost a significant amount of weight. Tang Yiqing was shocked; Shen Zeqi’s state was even worse than he had imagined. He stood at the doorway looking like a wandering ghost.
Even Shen Shuowen was momentarily dazed. Then they saw Shen Zeqi walk into the house as if about to collapse. Shen Shuowen instinctively reached out to steady him, but Shen Zeqi stumbled inward, appearing to fall forward, and ended up collapsing onto Tang Yiqing.
Shen Shuowen: “…”
Tang Yiqing instinctively caught him, and immediately felt the heat of the man’s breath against his neck. “Yiqing, I feel so miserable…”
Shen Shuowen turned around and stepped forward to pull him up. “If you’re miserable, go to the hospital.”
But Shen Zeqi looked like he was on the verge of death. “Yiqing, give me a little bit of pheromones to save me.”
After saying that, he seemed to faint. Seeing him like this, Tang Yiqing suddenly became anxious. “Quick, let’s help him to the bedroom.”
Shen Shuowen’s face was so grim he looked ready to kill someone. He looked at Tang Yiqing; he should have taken that call behind his back and found Shen Zeqi in secret to take him back to the hospital.
Once Tang Yiqing knew, with his soft-hearted nature, he definitely wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
“Hurry, he’s not going to make it,” Tang Yiqing said anxiously.
Shen Shuowen bit his teeth, stepped forward to help support the man, and together they brought him to the guest room.
Sitting by the bed, Shen Zeqi was still leaning against Tang Yiqing. Shen Shuowen sat beside Tang Yiqing, wrapping an arm around his waist and staring straight at the two of them. Jealousy leaked out along with his pheromones, uncontrollably enveloping Tang Yiqing.
The scene was absurd: his own wife was holding another man.
Tang Yiqing released his pheromones, slowly comforting Shen Zeqi. Time passed slowly. After an unknown amount of time, Shen Zeqi’s pale face finally began to look a bit healthier. Whether he was unconscious or in a deep sleep, he greedily inhaled Tang Yiqing’s pheromones.
Slowly, Shen Zeqi opened his eyes. He turned his head slightly to look at Tang Yiqing’s profile, his nose constantly rubbing against Tang Yiqing’s neck. Then he tilted his head up, wanting to touch Tang Yiqing’s skin with his lips, wanting to kiss him.
From the first moment he met Tang Yiqing, he had instinctively restrained his own pheromones. He couldn’t understand the inexplicable feeling he had back then, but now he understood: he had fallen in love with Tang Yiqing at first sight.
After living together in the Shen family for four or five years, he had never thought Tang Yiqing would one day leave. He couldn’t survive without seeing Tang Yiqing; Tang Yiqing was his antidote.
Shen Zeqi yearned for him, but just as his lips were about to touch the skin of Tang Yiqing’s neck, Tang Yiqing was suddenly pulled into Shen Shuowen’s embrace.
Shen Zeqi looked over. Shen Shuowen was holding Tang Yiqing openly in a posture of absolute possession, making Shen Zeqi’s eyes burn with envy.
“He is my wife,” Shen Shuowen mouthed silently to him.
Shen Zeqi’s blood surged, and his pheromones leaked out uncontrollably. He fell back onto the bed. “Yiqing, I feel so miserable, give me a bit more.”
Shen Shuowen looked at Shen Zeqi, who looked as if he were dying on the bed, and a strong urge to throw him out surged within him. Meanwhile, Tang Yiqing released more pheromones.
The room was filled with the scent of daisy pheromones. This scent not only comforted Shen Zeqi but also calmed Shen Shuowen.
Shen Zeqi fell asleep in the guest room as if he had fainted; he had never slept so sweetly.
Tang Yiqing and Shen Shuowen came out of the room. Shen Shuowen’s face remained grim. Tang Yiqing was a bit worried. “His condition is really not good. How did it suddenly become like this?”
It wasn’t that Shen Shuowen wasn’t worried about Shen Zeqi, but forced to watch his own wife comfort another Alpha was nothing short of torture.
“His health has been poor since he was a child. He became an S-class Alpha during his differentiation, but his body couldn’t carry such a high grade. So, as he grew older, his pheromone issues became more and more serious,” Shen Shuowen explained.
Although their family wasn’t as harmonious as ordinary families and the emotional intensity between them wasn’t high—a common atmosphere in families with many Alphas—because Shen Zeqi had been weak and sickly since childhood, the family paid a lot of attention to him. As the older brother, Shen Shuowen often took care of him, and he couldn’t be completely cold-hearted seeing him like this.
And Shen Zeqi was well-versed in using this to gain their indulgence.
Tang Yiqing hugged Shen Shuowen and released pheromones to comfort him. “Don’t worry. I saw that his state improved a lot just now.”
“I believe his best place is the hospital. The Shen family hospital has the top equipment; it’s better than here no matter what,” Shen Shuowen said.
Tang Yiqing clearly disagreed. After he comforted Shen Zeqi just now, the man’s complexion had obviously improved. He had been in the hospital for so long without such an effect.
This indicated that their pheromone compatibility was very high, but he didn’t dare say this in front of Shen Shuowen.
Tang Yiqing watched Shen Shuowen take out his phone to make a call and immediately stopped him. “How about… let him stay here for two days first to see how it goes?”
“Sending him to the hospital is the same; we can go visit him,” Shen Shuowen said. This was the maximum concession he could make.
Tang Yiqing thought for a moment and then nodded. “True. But going to the hospital every day would be a bit of a hassle. Routine comfort is fine, but if he hits his rut, it would be troublesome…”
Hearing this, the hand Shen Shuowen used to grip his phone tightened. If it were a rut, would Tang Yiqing have to stay in the hospital the whole time? Tang Yiqing had a family.
Suddenly, he seemed to remember something. He knew best what was most effective for an Alpha’s rut; he had used it before.
However, while they were discussing it, when the hospital staff arrived to take him away, Shen Zeqi experienced a severe pheromone leakage. He looked at Tang Yiqing as if trying desperately to grab him, and finally fell to the floor twitching.
What they didn’t know was that Shen Zeqi’s condition wasn’t just physiological; a large part of it was psychological.
This situation terrified Tang Yiqing, and not just him—Shen Shuowen was also shocked.
In the end, the matter was dropped.
Tang Yiqing started comforting Shen Zeqi again, using even more time and pheromones than before.
When he came out of the guest room, he was exhausted. Shen Shuowen hugged him, releasing his red wine-scented pheromones to relieve Tang Yiqing’s fatigue.
It seemed to have become a cycle, but for the family atmosphere, it didn’t seem like a healthy one.
In the evening, they gathered around the table for dinner, and Shen Zeqi finally emerged from his room.
His complexion looked much better, and he had a smile on his face. He glanced at Tang Yiqing and Shen Shuowen occupying one side of the table and naturally sat down across from the child.
“Brother, Yiqing, thank you for taking me in,” Shen Zeqi said.
Shen Shuowen’s face was not good, and his mood was very complicated—more complicated than ever before.
Tang Yiqing’s smile was a bit awkward. Hearing him say that, it sounded like he intended to stay long-term, as if he were becoming a permanent member of their household.
At this point, Shen Shuowen spoke up. He looked at Tang Siwen. “Siwen, this is your Second Uncle. Call him Second Uncle.”
This was his way of warning Shen Zeqi about his identity.
Shen Zeqi smiled at Tang Siwen and rubbed his cheek. “Siwen, do you remember what I told you to call me before?”
Tang Siwen frowned, feeling things were getting complicated. He lowered his head without speaking and began to eat.
Tang Yiqing breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, his son was smart and avoided a conflict.
Tang Yiqing’s family was living a “colorful” life, while someone else was about to face bad luck.
He Chenguang hadn’t left his house during this period. He was afraid of being recognized. Now, the people in the residential complex looked at him with strange eyes. Although he was someone who had weathered storms on the internet, this time was clearly beyond his capacity to endure.
Currently, not only was his dream of marrying into the Shen family dead, but his career was also completely ruined. He could only huddle at home, not even daring to step out the door.
He Chenguang looked at himself in the mirror. His eyes were bloodshot, his skin had lost its luster, and his hair was dry. The mental pressure these past few days had been too great; he couldn’t sleep well and had turned into this ghastly state.
If…
If he hadn’t been so desperate to marry into the Shen family, he wouldn’t have fallen to this state. But marrying Shen Mingzheng was a seed planted in his heart during his school days; over the years, it had become an obsession.
Now that his long-held hopes were dashed, how could he not feel resentment? He hated with a passion—he hated the Zhou family, he hated Tang Yiqing, and he hated Shen Mingzheng even more.
He had been with Shen Mingzheng for so many years, yet in the end, he didn’t even have a title. He had used every scheme and trick, only to end up calculating himself into this current state where he looked like neither a human nor a ghost.
And just as he was looking at himself in the mirror, unable to accept what he saw, the doorbell suddenly rang.
His heart skipped a beat. Someone online had leaked his address. Lately, people had been sending him dead rats and bloody props, so he now felt a surge of tension whenever he heard the doorbell.
After ringing a few times without response, the person outside seemed to grow irritable and began to pound on the door with loud “thuds.” He Chenguang lived in a large apartment of nearly 400 square meters, but even from the bathroom of the master bedroom, he could still hear the massive sound of the door being hammered.
He moved slowly toward the door and then saw Shen Mingzheng’s face on the monitor. The moment he saw it was him, He Chenguang instinctively felt a surge of joy and hurriedly smoothed his hair.
But he soon realized that Shen Mingzheng’s state was wrong. The face shown on the monitor was somewhat distorted.
Originally, he thought that after the forced marriage drama was botched, Shen Mingzheng would come to find him, but he hadn’t. He had tried to contact him during this time, but there had been no response. He didn’t dare go online or look at those stinging things, so he was currently ignorant of the situation.
He composed himself and then went to open the door. Things had already reached this point; nothing could be worse than it already was. Seeing Shen Mingzheng was at least better than never seeing him again.
Although he already knew the situation was settled, a tiny, scattered spark of hope still uncontrollably arose in his heart—in his complicated state of mind, he still hoped for the outcome he desired.
He checked himself in the full-length mirror. Amidst the increasingly urgent knocking, he ran to change his clothes and even sprayed a bit of perfume before heading to open the door.
He forced his usual smile onto his stiff face, trying to appear perfect. He opened the door. Shen Mingzheng was still in the middle of knocking. He froze upon seeing him, then stared at him intensely with bloodshot eyes before pouncing forward like a wild beast.
He Chenguang’s smile vanished. His neck was gripped tightly by Shen Mingzheng, who seemed to want his life.
Quickly, his face turned red and he felt unable to breathe. He slapped at Shen Mingzheng’s hand, looking at the madman in terror.
“You bitch! You dared to play me!” Seeing the face he loathed, Shen Mingzheng was nearly frantic. He truly wished he could kill him.
“Let go…” He Chenguang’s eyes began to roll back. He felt like he was truly going to die, and tears wouldn’t stop flowing.
“You drugged me! You hung up Tang Yiqing’s call! You deserve to die!” Shen Mingzheng said viciously. His face was red and distorted, his blood surging as if he were about to explode.
He Chenguang looked at him in horror, feeling he would die the next second. Just then, Shen Mingzheng finally let go. He immediately coughed violently, momentarily losing the ability to speak.
He wanted to run, but suddenly felt a powerful pheromone suppression. His face turned pale with pain; it was a fate worse than death!
“What… what are you talking about…” He Chenguang clutched his neck, his voice as raspy as rubbing iron.
“What am I talking about?” Shen Mingzheng’s pupils contracted. He grabbed He Chenguang’s hair, forcing him to look up. “Did you think the matter from four years ago was truly foolproof? You drugged me and Tang Yiqing, making me misunderstand him for all these years!!”
He Chenguang’s body trembled, and then he seemed to lose all strength, looking as if he had died. His face was gray and defeated. He knew it was all over; there was no possibility of a turnaround.
He knew how much Shen Mingzheng loathed this matter, and now that he knew the truth, everything between them was finished.
Shen Mingzheng let go and looked at the defeated He Chenguang, letting out a cold snort. “What? Nothing to say?”
He Chenguang tidied his clothes. At this moment, his heart was like cold ashes, allowing him to be calm instead. “Since you know everything, I have nothing to say.”
Shen Mingzheng narrowed his eyes. “You admitted it so quickly. It’s truly beyond my expectation.”
He Chenguang looked at him. “Actually, looking back now, what I did wasn’t very clever. If you had investigated back then, you should have found the truth quickly. But you insisted it was Tang Yiqing’s doing, which saved me a lot of trouble.”
Since everything was over, he no longer needed to pretend. He also felt tired. Looking at Shen Mingzheng’s distorted face at this moment, he even felt a trace of satisfaction.
