After a Flash Marriage with a Professor - Chapter 80
Chapter 80: You’re Welcome
Ming Shu did not reply or turn around. Just putting on that outfit had used up all her courage. Now, she only felt light-headed, unsure of who she was, where she came from, or what she was supposed to do here.
It was as if her brain had automatically emptied the moment she put on the furry little rabbit pyjamas.
She felt she had truly become a little rabbit who had personally delivered herself to the Big Bad Wolf’s jaws.
The Big Bad Wolf, emerging from the bathroom, stood frozen for a moment. That moment should have been the rabbit’s last chance to regret and escape, but the rabbit did not flee.
The Big Bad Wolf realized what was happening and embraced the little rabbit from behind. She smelled the sweetness of the rabbit meat she had longed for day and night. Tonight, she could perhaps feast to her fill.
The little rabbit came to celebrate the Big Bad Wolf’s birthday, and the birthday gift was the little rabbit herself. This was truly a brave gift, and one the Big Bad Wolf could not refuse.
With such a delicacy before her, where should she start eating? The Big Bad Wolf was a little troubled. The wolf’s tongue swept across her mouth. The Big Bad Wolf confirmed that she did not have sharp teeth, ensuring that the meal would not cause too much pain to the kind and innocent little rabbit who offered herself as a gift.
As she opened her mouth to taste the fresh, sweet rabbit meat, the Big Bad Wolf paused again. The tender emotions in her heart still overcame her desire for food. She lowered her head and kissed the little rabbit delicately, meticulously applying an anesthetic to the areas the little rabbit had exposed to her.
The Big Bad Wolf’s method of administering the anesthetic seemed a little unbearable for the little rabbit. The little rabbit struggled a few times, seeming to wish the wolf would just get it over with quickly.
“I hope you won’t be in pain when you’re eaten,” the Big Bad Wolf said, stroking the little rabbit.
The little rabbit said, “But I’m in pain right now.”
Sometimes gentleness is torment, and time is agony.
The Big Bad Wolf sighed and, fulfilling the little rabbit’s request, ceased her restraint.
The Big Bad Wolf is highly aggressive. Her fangs and claws are lethal tools useful for capturing prey. Yet, this Big Bad Wolf seemed to be born to be in love with the little rabbit.
Caught between the unavoidable laws of nature and the irrationality of love, the Big Bad Wolf refused the axiom that one cannot have both. She wanted it all.
And so, nature allowed her to be a mostly docile wolf. Her teeth were not sharp, nor her claws pointed, which allowed her to confidently embrace the little rabbit, kiss the little rabbit, and enter the little rabbit.
This was a gentle battle. The Big Bad Wolf drank the rabbit’s blood and consumed the rabbit’s flesh. The little rabbit was meticulously deconstructed and tenderly reassembled in this self-chosen sacrifice.
They did not witness the moonrise, but they were accompanied by the moonset.
The natural law was kind to the Big Bad Wolf. The little rabbit, sacrificed for love, did not vanish when the moon hid, but slowly reassembled when the morning sun emerged.
The Big Bad Wolf was full of vigor, watching the little rabbit she had repeatedly dismantled and reassembled all night, her eyes full of tenderness.
Perhaps the Big Bad Wolf’s resolute gaze was too evocative. The little rabbit woke up. The little rabbit saw the sunlight jump from outside the window, landing on the thin blanket before her eyes, and became instantly alert. “What time is it?” the little rabbit asked quickly, though her voice was weak and breathless.
Shen Junlan replied softly, “9:30.”
“I’m late!” Even though her body was weak, Ming Shu wanted to get up and make amends, trying not to be even later.
Shen Junlan reached out and held Ming Shu tightly, not letting her move.
Ming Shu couldn’t break free. She turned her head, staring anxiously at Professor Shen, signaling her to quickly let go.
Seeing her wife stare at her like this, Shen Junlan said with a mixture of amusement and helplessness, “It’s Saturday today, Wife.”
Ming Shu froze for a moment. Realizing she had forgotten the day, she stopped struggling, lost all her strength, and collapsed completely into Professor Shen’s embrace.
She had already been stripped of the furry little rabbit pyjamas by Professor Shen. Now, pressed closely against Professor Shen, her face involuntarily flushed. She didn’t know what to do.
“You let go of me first, Professor Shen,” Ming Shu said shyly.
“Okay.”
Shen Junlan’s so-called letting go was to lie down with Ming Shu. After Ming Shu lay down, she quickly wrapped herself in the thin blanket. “The birthday is over, Professor Shen. You can’t be so excessive anymore.”
“Okay,” Shen Junlan agreed softly.
Ming Shu was a little skeptical, looking at her with suspicion. To show sincerity, Shen Junlan got out of bed, pulled the curtains tightly shut, and then went downstairs, saying as she left the room, “I’ll go prepare breakfast with Aunt Zhang.”
Only when the bedroom door was left ajar and she heard Professor Shen’s footsteps receding did Ming Shu lift the thin blanket and briefly examine herself.
Ming Shu: “…”
Professor Shen really hadn’t held back last night.
A Weekend Morning
Going downstairs for breakfast, Ming Shu felt a slight discomfort in her body.
Aunt Zhang saw her and asked in surprise, “Did Madam catch a cold last night? Why are you wearing a scarf?”
Ming Shu certainly couldn’t tell Aunt Zhang the truth—that it was because Professor Shen had been too reckless and lost all sense of proportion last night, forcing her to use external objects for concealment.
“Yes, I kicked off the blanket last night,” Ming Shu said, blushing as she made up a lie. She hadn’t improved her lying skills at all; she was the same as before.
Just then, Professor Shen came out carrying a bowl of black chicken and red date congee. Aunt Zhang asked her what temperature the air conditioner was set to at night, saying it shouldn’t be too low, as Madam had caught a chill last night.
Shen Junlan glanced at Ming Shu and understood what was happening. Feeling both apologetic and sweet, she replied to Aunt Zhang, “I know. I’ll turn it up next time. I’ll take Ming Shu out to bask in the sun later.”
“Basking in the sun in the middle of summer? Won’t that be too hot?” Aunt Zhang found it strange.
Shen Junlan smiled and said, “We’ll go to the beach.”
Aunt Zhang then smiled. “Going to the beach is nice, but be careful. Can Madam swim?”
Shen Junlan didn’t know if Ming Shu could swim and looked directly at Ming Shu. Aunt Zhang also looked over. Ming Shu shook her head and said she couldn’t.
“I’ll teach you,” Shen Junlan said with a smile.
The day’s plan was thus set. Aunt Zhang urged them to eat breakfast. “The black chicken and red dates are very nourishing. Eat more.”
Ming Shu’s face flushed as she ate. Aunt Zhang laughed and said, “Junlan, look, Madam’s complexion has already become rosy.”
Ming Shu was so embarrassed she wanted to bury her head in the bowl.
After breakfast, Aunt Zhang took the dishes to the kitchen. Ming Shu whispered to Professor Shen, “It’s not very convenient for me to go swimming today.”
“Why?” Shen Junlan asked. “Are you really feeling unwell from the cold?”
“No.”
Aunt Zhang came out, making it harder for Ming Shu to speak. Aunt Zhang was already planning for their swimming trip. “The swimming ring Jiajia used when she learned to swim is still around. If Madam doesn’t mind, you can use it.”
“I don’t mind, but I think it’s better if I don’t touch Jiajia’s things,” Ming Shu said, knowing her place. Although Jiajia’s hostility towards her wasn’t as deep as before and she was even on her side now, their relationship was certainly not good enough for her to use Jiajia’s belongings.
Even with Lingyu, if she needed something, she would ask first before borrowing it.
Aunt Zhang smiled. “That’s true. I didn’t think that through. Buying a new one is fine too. It’s just that older people like us are careful with money. I didn’t mean anything by it, Madam, please don’t overthink it.”
After the ordeal with the Qiao family, Aunt Zhang had become more cautious than before.
Ming Shu smiled and said, “No, I know Aunt Zhang is looking out for Professor Shen and me.”
Shen Junlan subtly noticed the change in Aunt Zhang’s demeanor and also comforted her. “Aunt Zhang, please don’t overthink things. Everything is still the same between us.”
“Okay,” Aunt Zhang said, lowering her head, her eyes welling up with tears.
Shen Junlan asked, “When can Jiajia come out? We can go pick her up together.”
“I don’t know. That child has a stubborn nature. She might spend the entire summer break confronting Miss Xi Xi.”
Shen Junlan said, “It shouldn’t drag until right before school starts; it needs to be a little earlier. Qiao Qian can see Jiajia’s intentions, and if she becomes vengeful and refuses to reconcile, Jiajia will suffer an unnecessary loss.”
“Yes, Junlan, you’re right. But what’s the best way to handle this? We can’t let it affect Jiajia’s studies.”
“Don’t worry, Aunt Zhang. I will talk to the Qiao family.”
Ming Shu and Professor Shen did not go swimming. They went back upstairs together.
“Professor Shen, how do you plan to talk to the Qiao family?”
“No specific plan. Because of Shen Muhua, Qiao Li will definitely show me respect, and Qiao Qian won’t make things too difficult for me.” Shen Junlan knew both mother and daughter wanted to please her and gain favor with Shen Muhua. Of course, she didn’t know when Shen Muhua’s attitude towards her had changed from neglect and indifference to feigning a benevolent father figure.
“What about you, Wife? Where are you uncomfortable?” Shen Junlan didn’t want to talk about unpleasant things anymore and ruin this sweet weekend she had managed to secure with her wife.
“No specific place,” Ming Shu was still embarrassed to say.
“All over?” Shen Junlan had a suspicion.
Ming Shu gave her a surprised look, accusingly saying, “It’s all because of you.”
Shen Junlan smiled. “Yes, it’s all because of me.”
Shen Junlan moved closer to Ming Shu, untied the scarf around her neck, and lightly kissed the embroidered orchid on the scarf. “Wife, this orchid carries your scent.”
Ming Shu ignored her and went back to the room. No longer needing to force herself to be energetic, she collapsed onto the bed. After knowing it was Saturday and she didn’t have to work, the exhausted Ming Shu only wanted to catch up on sleep.
“Wife,” Shen Junlan called softly from the side. Ming Shu hummed lightly in response, not opening her eyes. She waved her hand gently. “Professor Shen, go do your own thing. I want to sleep.”
“The thing I want to do most is sleep with you,” Shen Junlan said instinctively, without a second thought.
Ming Shu was so startled that she instantly opened her eyes. Shen Junlan smiled, pressing down on Ming Shu’s shoulder to keep her lying down. “Sleep tight, Wife. I won’t do anything to you again.”
With that, Shen Junlan got up, sat at the desk, and opened the book Yu Yue had given her yesterday to read, with a few dictionaries beside it.
Ming Shu watched Professor Shen’s back and suddenly didn’t feel so sleepy anymore.
Shen Junlan noticed the gaze behind her. She went over to turn off the main light, then sat back down, only turning on a small, eye-friendly desk lamp.
Ming Shu couldn’t sleep. She listened to the sound of Professor Shen turning the pages, which was not loud, but she couldn’t settle down.
As she listened, she recalled how Professor Shen had treated her last night. She remembered that there was still a set of Big Bad Wolf pyjamas in the closet that she hadn’t had a chance to take out last night.
In the dimly lit room, the little bunny began to plot revenge. She quietly got out of bed, opened the closet, took out the Big Bad Wolf pyjamas, and walked behind Professor Shen.
Shen Junlan was immersed in the world of the book and hadn’t noticed what her little bunny wife had done, until the little bunny wife’s paw gently tapped her shoulder.
She turned her head, smiling, and asked what her little bunny wife commanded.
The little bunny raised the Big Bad Wolf pyjamas in her hand and said to her, “Put this on for me to see.”
