After a Flash Marriage with a Professor - Chapter 69
Chapter 69: New Night Class
At 3 AM, a niche Acura RLX drove into the quiet villa area.
Shen Junlan drove the car all the way to the gate of her own villa. There was no one home now. She got out of the car herself to open the gate, unlocked it with an iris scan, and after the gate opened, Shen Junlan got back into the car and drove it into the courtyard.
When the car started for the second time, Ming Shu felt the movement and woke up.
“Professor Shen, are we almost there?”
“We’re home.”
“That was fast.” Ming Shu blinked in the dim car interior, suddenly realizing something. Professor Shen had taken a long-haul flight back from abroad just like her, and hadn’t rested properly, instead driving around for several hours. She must be much more tired than Ming Shu.
“Professor Shen, let’s get out of the car quickly. Let’s go upstairs, wash up, and go to bed early. You should wash first.”
“I’m not tired.” Shen Junlan gave Ming Shu a gentle look, turned around, opened the car door, and got out.
“Is Professor Shen’s energy this good?” Ming Shu also got out from her side and closed the car door.
“Doesn’t my wife know my energy?” Shen Junlan held Ming Shu’s hand, her warm palm enveloping Ming Shu’s. Before holding hands, she liked to gently squeeze Ming Shu’s soft fingers and would intentionally tickle Ming Shu’s palm, prompting Ming Shu to clench her fist to restrain her mischievous hand.
But this time, Ming Shu didn’t protest her actions at all.
“Wife, are you feeling sorry for me?”
Ming Shu shyly nodded, quickly lowering her eyes to look at her toes. The heels were only five centimeters high, and walking around so much in them had tired her feet.
Shen Junlan crouched down, pressed Ming Shu’s ankle, examined it, and said affectionately, “The skin is rubbed raw. Doesn’t your company allow you to wear flats?”
“No.”
“Are there requirements for makeup too?”
“Yes, but I usually just put on lipstick to get by.”
Shen Junlan stood up. Ming Shu’s appearance was inherently beautiful and striking, requiring little adornment.
“Does it hurt?” Shen Junlan asked.
“It’s alright, just a little bit. It’s not serious. It’ll be fine with a band-aid when we get back.”
The two returned to the room. Ming Shu ran over to look at the potted orchids kept on the windowsill. The hydroponic ones were still alive, just a bit wilted. Ming Shu turned back, excitedly saying, “Professor Shen, this orchid is still alive!”
“Yes.” Shen Junlan walked over with a smile, showing Ming Shu how to care for the orchid. Under her guidance, Ming Shu changed the water for the orchid and trimmed a few of the end branches.
“I instantly feel like they have so much more vitality,” Ming Shu looked at the orchids she had just tried to care for with her own hands, joy unconsciously radiating from her eyes.
“Professor Shen, do you know? H University had a flower arrangement course as an elective. I regretted not being able to select it because I hesitated. Do you know how to arrange flowers?”
“I do.” Shen Junlan smiled, staring at Ming Shu’s back.
Ming Shu turned around and saw Professor Shen looking at her with an intense gaze that seemed thick enough to be stretched like silk. Yet, it also seemed like she wasn’t just looking at her, but through her to something deeper.
“Professor Shen, what are you looking at?”
“The most beautiful and adorable flower.”
Ming Shu thought Professor Shen was referring to the orchids, so she turned her head back. There were five orchids in the vase. “Professor Shen, which one are you talking about?”
Before she finished speaking, Ming Shu felt a familiar presence approaching. Professor Shen tightly embraced her from behind.
“The one in my arms,” Shen Junlan whispered close to Ming Shu’s ear.
Ming Shu shyly tilted her head. A damp kiss was branded on her neck, and her brain suddenly erupted like a dormant volcano.
“Professor Shen…”
“Wife, do you want to learn flower arrangement?” Shen Junlan asked.
“…Yes.” Ming Shu was unsure if there was a trap, so she hesitated for a second before answering.
“I’ll teach you.”
“Professor Shen, are you setting some kind of trap for me again?” Ming Shu asked suspiciously, remembering the past pearl mussel and the strange pajamas.
“No.” Shen Junlan silently curled her lips. What kind of wicked thoughts could a big bad wolf have?
“How will you teach me? Will it replace the previous night classes?”
“It’s not bad to have this as a new type of night class. Wife, would you like to experience it now? The home version of flower arrangement.”
“Sure.” Ming Shu looked expectant. “But do we have the tools at home? I remember that besides fresh flowers, learning flower arrangement requires some auxiliary tools.”
“The way I’ll teach you doesn’t require them.” Shen Junlan smiled. “Many things can be sourced locally, and even the fresh flower itself can generate its own water source.”
“What kind of flower is that magical?” Ming Shu hadn’t realized her current situation yet, thinking such a magical flower truly existed in the world.
“The most beautiful and adorable flower in my arms.”
This was the second time Professor Shen had said this. Ming Shu finally found the answer through Professor Shen’s thought process. She was instantly too shy and flustered to speak. Was Professor Shen using a subtle way to remind her to fulfill her promise?
Ming Shu swallowed nervously a few times, but Professor Shen had already begun explaining the key points of the flower arrangement lesson in an unhurried manner in her ear.
“Flower arrangement is an art. First, we need flowers for the arrangement, and we must choose suitable floral materials.”
Ming Shu felt like she was back in a university lecture hall listening to a teacher lecture. She had a sense of shared experience with the flower: she was the one being chosen and would be meticulously adorned and treated.
Professor Shen used a metaphorical pointer to lift the black bag wrapped around the flower, then stroked the smooth and delicate stem, passed through the layers of dense leaves, and gently touched the sweet petals that were already dotted with dew. “Floral materials like this are very fresh.”
The petals lightly trembled, the dew gently shook. Professor Shen smiled and asked the student, “Did you learn how to choose floral materials?”
