- Chapter 20 - Raven Black – Almost Eaten by the Beauty
The vision of the jade chamber faded like a mist, and an extreme silence enveloped her ears.
Si Jing raised her gaze, bewildered.
The clouds overhead were dark and dim, filtering not a single ray of light. She was submerged in a silent, ink-black sea, stagnant like dead water. Faint, hoarse, sharp, and rough sounds of demons drifted to her ears, with ghostly shadows flitting about.
Only a brilliant, dazzling crimson streak remained at the twisted horizon.
Yet she was utterly immobilized, unable to lift even a single finger.
That splash of crimson gradually approached, lingering and wandering in her sight, like the rising glow of dawn, or the clouds when the sun has nearly set.
It was a woman.
Si Jing knew neither how she arrived nor where she was bound.
In this realm of blood seas, where skeletons and lingering souls dissolved, such a vibrant visitor was rare.
The woman’s seemingly delicate body was immersed in the water. She shielded the dim light of the blood-moon with the back of her hand, squinting as she drifted in the highly corrosive water.
A sound of emerging from the water.
She was completely naked, her skin so pale it was almost translucent, her form graceful and curvilinear. Crimson droplets rolled down her chest, merging into her waist, which shimmered with a brilliant glow.
Further down, she did not have human legs, but a fish tail.
The demons screeched noisily, trying to latch onto the woman’s fingertips and arms, but they all failed, exploding into blood mist with pained cries.
A fawning demon shrieked, attempting to curry favor, “Gurgle… D-Demon… Lord…”
“You’ve mistaken me for someone else.”
The woman seemed extremely irritated. With a wave of her hand, every demon that dared to show its head burst open.
She swam farther away, quickly leaving the gruesome scene behind.
She seemed to be looking for a quiet spot, gazing into the distance once more.
Noticing something, she suddenly curled her lips into a smile.
The normally peaceful and silent Immersed-Ink Sea was almost split in two, the water splashing like crimson waves. She arrived beside Si Jing in the blink of an eye.
“Been watching me for quite a while, haven’t you? Why not say a word?” The woman narrowed her eyes mischievously.
“…Not speaking? And you don’t even have eyes…” The woman leaned in, almost in an embrace.
“But I know you are a living thing.”
Si Jing couldn’t respond, nor could she refute.
“Though I don’t come often, I’ve been skinny-dipping here for thousands of years, and I’ve watched you for a thousand years, too.” Her smile was like the first blossoms of spring peach, her eyes bright and alluring, “I imagine your gaze upon me is much the same.”
Her words fell into the sea where ghosts and demons wept, only to be answered by a few bursting blood bubbles.
The demons all hushed, daring not to show their faces or make trouble.
“Ai, it’s a bit lonely with only me talking.” The woman shook her head. Her lithe figure vanished from Si Jing’s sight, only to quickly reappear from the other side.
“Have you ever thought about escaping this place, about seeing what’s outside this blood sea? I can grant you freedom, just like mine.” The woman seemed to place a hand on her.
It was soft, carrying a lingering warmth starkly different from the chilling blood-sea water.
The other woman pressed half her body onto Si Jing, a rich, exotic fragrance wafting over Si Jing’s face. Her curves were enchanting, warm, and strangely alluring.
“The condition is… bite through me and enter into a contract with me.” Her voice softened, as if coaxing, yet it couldn’t hide a hint of mockery.
“You must have a mouth, right?”
Si Jing met a pair of utterly bewitching eyes that reflected the churning sea and the hazy blood-mist.
The woman’s boneless body seemed to cling to her, wrapping tightly around her. She cupped Si Jing’s face, her eyes drawing her into the bottomless depths of the blood sea.
“If you accidentally bite too hard and kill me, it doesn’t matter.”
Si Jing’s sea of consciousness was chaotic. It was only by nearly crushing her finger bones that she could barely maintain a brief moment of clarity.
But every single meridian, every inch of bone and flesh in her body, was screaming, urging her to be dominated by the most rudimentary desire.
If what she saw before her eyes was real, why should she bother maintaining her so-called clarity and self-control?
“…Wake up! You wicked beauty, wake up…” A soft, tender hand was pushing her, the voice gentle and moist.
“Don’t sleep here!”
Si Jing opened her eyes and met a pair of pink-red eyes.
The speaker was shrinking her shoulders, her figure exquisite. Having just transformed into a human body and not having time to dress, she was currently pressed against Si Jing’s chest, peering around in a panic.
Seeing Si Jing open her eyes, the girl’s eyes immediately lit up, and her voice was filled with guilt, “You’re awake? I-I shouldn’t have bitten you before… It seems humans like to sleep when they’re infected with demon energy.”
Zhuo Zhao pressed her face against the tooth marks on the side of Si Jing’s neck, trying hard to rub against it. “My wives said that snuggling makes it heal faster! Do you feel a little better?”
She waited for a long time but received no response.
She let out a little huff, about to retreat and stop warming the wound for this block of ice-beauty.
Looking up, she met the woman’s eyes, which were filled with a bloody mist.
Her neck was suddenly tightly grasped by a slender, bony wrist, and her vision flipped upside down.
Si Jing pressed her beneath her. The woman, whose grace was as pure as snow, now looked subdued and unreadable.
She traced Zhuo Zhao’s lips with her fingertip, then moved to her neck, which was turning pink from the constriction.
She sensed the other woman leaning down.
A cold softness touched her like water, followed by an excruciating, bone-deep pain in her neck.
Zhuo Zhao gasped for air, unable to speak. Her legs transformed into a fish tail, pathetically slapping the ground, and her round eyes instantly welled up with moisture.
It had always been her turn to bite people; she had never been bitten before!
The snow-clothed woman drank her like a desperate draught of poison, her tongue soft yet icy cold, reminding Zhuo Zhao of a bad snake demon that only crawled in the darkness of the night on a desolate mountain.
Losing too much blood, Zhuo Zhao’s vision became hazy. She tried hard to push the other woman’s shoulder, her body shrinking in fear.
The other woman seemed to feel it, lifting her head, her dark hair scattered, her expression blank.
Yet those eyes, usually cold and clear, still harbored a desperate craving, and her lips were stained with blood.
Zhuo Zhao tugged at the other woman’s hair, her voice weak, “You’re not, not allowed to bite my neck!”
She had clearly promised her wives… to protect her neck.
She pulled Si Jing’s hand to her lips, challenging her with a forced breath, “Wicked Immortal Cultivator! If you like biting people, why don’t you bite here?”
…She was going to bite back!
Si Jing paused, her hazy, unfocused eyes slowly fixing on Zhuo Zhao’s lips.
They were soft and wet, opening and closing.
Zhuo Zhao’s eyes widened.
Her lower lip was suddenly bitten through. The stinging pain, mixed with a feverish heat, instantly spread throughout her body. She wanted to bite back, but she was out of strength.
Si Jing’s eyelashes were moist. She bit just enough to draw a little blood but didn’t go deeper, only slowly licking the beads of blood that seeped out.
Zhuo Zhao closed her eyes sleepily.
Her body gradually turned cold. Before falling asleep, she thought she heard the woman’s suppressed, low groan.
Calling out, “Thirsty.”
She thought, before she could even marry the beauty, she was almost eaten by the beauty.
Just like she, without mercy, had devoured many small fish and shrimp who fawned over her in her cave dwelling.
She felt so unwilling.
Fragments of the Mermaid Lamp scattered around them, gradually dissolving into nothing, leaving only a burned-out wick.
Si Jing wiped the blood from her lips, an unusual light flowing in her eyes. She heavily wrapped the blood-loss-afflicted body in her robe.
As if marking her territory.
She stroked Zhuo Zhao’s soft cheek, her slender fingers moving, gradually hooking onto the other’s delicate neck bone. Her gaze held a hint of satisfaction.
She slowly tightened her grip, but hearing a sob escape from her palm, she hastily withdrew her hand, an embarrassed flush of crimson spreading across her eyelids.
She bent down again to kiss the girl’s lips.
There was no other sound in the jade chamber, a boundless silence like the aftermath of a broken bowstring.
In the haze, an raven-black robe seemed to enter her vision.
Si Jing looked up, her eyes crimson and sinister, flashing with unruly, vigilant, and various resistant emotions.
She dropped her hand, quickly grasping the small blade hidden in her sleeve.
The woman, with a tired look in her eyes, yawned and jumped down from a sword.
Approaching with steps smelling of alcohol, she squatted down, tilting her head with a smiley look at Si Jing, who radiated killing intent.
Facing the other’s highly aggressive gaze, she raised her hand.
In front of Si Jing, snap, she snapped her fingers.
Si Jing’s furrowed brow relaxed. Her body instantly went limp as if her bones were pulled out, and her eyelids felt heavy.
Slumped in front of Zhuo Zhao, in the brief moment of returning clarity, she was able to clearly see the newcomer.
She managed a low call, “…Master.”
But she could not hold on any longer and fell into a deep sleep.
