- Chapter 33 - Wild Imaginings
Drinking the wine intended for the female lead was a tragedy born of a slip of the hand.
Qin Xiaoxiao maintained a facade of absolute calm. With a vacant gaze, she placed the bottle back on the bar, inwardly thanking her lucky stars that she had noticed the taste immediately. She had stopped herself in time and hadn’t taken a large gulp.
According to the “instruction manual” in her head, the effects should only last half a day. Since she had consumed so little, it was barely within the limits of her endurance.
As for the female lead? She had downed the entire glass. She was likely in for a long night of… ecstatic misery.
With that thought, Qin Xiaoxiao glanced at the girl. Aside from a slightly flushed face, Xiang Liwei’s demeanor was no different than usual.
“How are you feeling?” Qin Xiaoxiao asked curiously, wanting to check before her own symptoms fully kicked in.
“Very hot.”
Xiang Liwei’s voice was moist and soft, her eyes clouded with a misty, lingering layer of desire. She set her glass down and struggled to move her gaze away from the woman beside her.
So hot. I want to take off this dress.
But with so many people watching, she couldn’t. Xiang Liwei twisted her fingers together tightly.
When she was a child, she had once tried baijiu. The burn had been so fierce it felt like her throat was being scorched, leaving her miserable for days. Ever since, she had avoided strong spirits. If anyone offered her a toast, she would always find an excuse to decline.
However, she was more than happy to accept fruit wine from this woman. Fruit wine usually had low alcohol content and a mellow flavor. Sometimes, she even drank it as a regular beverage when she was unhappy.
In truth, she had been tipsy on fruit wine before. But never had it felt like this—so restless, so agonizing, and so… exciting.
The excitement left her body flushed and her limbs weak. She didn’t dare look at the woman again. If she did, she feared she might lose control of her inner cravings and do something “indescribable” in public.
She wouldn’t do that. The young girl felt a wave of shyness; everything she had to offer was reserved solely for her lover’s eyes.
Meanwhile, Qin Xiaoxiao—who had been silently monitoring the crowd—suddenly stood up.
Over the heads of the patrons, she saw the Movie Star enter. Even under the dim bar lights, the man walked as if he were on a runway. He was tall, dressed in a mid-length black trench coat, slim-fit black trousers, a black mask, and a black baseball cap. Only his narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes were visible.
Usually, such eyes looked seductive, but on him, they only radiated a coldness that matched his temperament. Perhaps due to his fame, his every movement carried an extraordinary aura.
The Movie Star was clearly trying to be low-profile, blending into the night in his all-black ensemble. Finally, Duan Longze walked to the bar to order a drink. He stood with his back straight, facing slightly away from her, yet he seemed to notice the woman staring at him from the corner.
If Qin Xiaoxiao didn’t have the original novel’s description of his entrance memorized, she probably wouldn’t have recognized him at a glance.
Now, the time was right and the setting was perfect. All that was missing was the bar owner returning with the thugs to cause a scene, creating the perfect opportunity to push the male and female leads together.
However, Qin Xiaoxiao had a premonition that she could wait until her hair turned gray and the owner still wouldn’t return.
Men… none of them are reliable.
Left with no choice, Qin Xiaoxiao decided to take matters into her own hands. After a moment of thought, she formed a rough plan: she would suddenly “go crazy,” loudly threaten the female lead, and grab her clothes. This would surely catch the male lead’s attention and lure him over to play the hero.
But before she could act, another variable appeared.
A man in his forties approached. He was quite portly, with a nose so flat it looked like it had been punched in. The loose fat on his cheeks sagged toward the corners of his mouth, and his beady eyes were fixed on the woman in the corner. He was the personification of the phrase “the face reflects the heart”—his smile was oily and lewd, his gaze like a rat in a sewer.
The fat man had intended to observe for a while longer, but when he saw Qin Xiaoxiao stand up, he couldn’t sit still. He assumed she was leaving. Years of “experience” told him this woman was a top-tier beauty, a prize not to be missed. He was an “old hand” at this, having successfully snared several women with his well-practiced tactics.
“Xiaoli, so this is where you are!” He put on an act of familiarity. “Stop being mad at me. Let’s go home.”
“You’ve got the wrong person.” Qin Xiaoxiao squinted at him, annoyed at being addressed by a strange name. “I’m not Xiaoli.”
“Don’t be like that, Xiaoli, listen to me—”
“I’m not listening. Beat it. Now.” Qin Xiaoxiao said impatiently. Inwardly, she was fuming: Move! You’re blocking the male lead’s line of sight!
“I was wrong, Xiaoli. Stop throwing a tantrum. Everyone at home is waiting for you to cook dinner.” The fat man was relentless, even reaching out to grab her arm.
Seeing the “salty pig hand” reaching for her, Qin Xiaoxiao slapped it away with all her might. “Cook your grandmother! Didn’t you hear me tell you to scram?”
Did I just run into a psychopath? she wondered.
The fat man winced as his hand turned red from the blow. Instead of getting angry, he smiled. He liked “kittens” that scratched. He took a perverse pleasure in conquering arrogant women, watching them break under his “charms” and develop Stockholm Syndrome until their disdain turned into dependency.
As he was lost in his lewd fantasies, a trembling voice spoke from behind him.
“She doesn’t know you. Stop harassing her.”
Xiang Liwei had suddenly stood up, her brow furrowed. “Can’t you see she doesn’t like you?”
Her pure black pupils looked ominous. Being stared at by her made the man’s skin crawl. His pleasant daydream interrupted, the fat man turned around, only to see another beautiful face.
Her eyes were blurred, her lips rosy. She leaned weakly against the table, her knees trembling as if she might collapse at any moment, yet she stubbornly stood her ground to defend the other woman. Her attempt to act tough was almost adorable, like a small animal one couldn’t help but tease.
The fat man’s lust flared up again, his irritation vanishing. He chuckled, turning his attention to her. “Little girl, what grade are you in? Your face is so soft. Do you even know what ‘liking’ someone means? How about Uncle teaches you?”
He reached out to touch her face.
“Get away!” Xiang Liwei turned her head, her voice sharp and cracking with emotion. “Don’t touch me! You creep!”
In the noisy bar, her protest was like a stone dropped into the ocean—swallowed instantly by the waves without a trace.
With the female lead drawing the fire, Qin Xiaoxiao managed to slip away. But as they pushed and shoved, her body began to betray her. Waves of heat surged through her, ravaging her logic.
Dammit…
Qin Xiaoxiao bit the tip of her tongue. The skin broke, and a bead of blood bloomed. The sharp pain surged through her, momentarily drowning out the hazy, erotic thoughts. She regained a shred of clarity.
After this ordeal, she realized she had been too naive—she had vastly underestimated the power of that aphrodisiac. Although the pain had temporarily suppressed the drug, a lingering sensation remained, as if thousands of ants were crawling under her skin. She felt a maddening itch that made her want to rub her skin against her clothes for relief.
If a tiny sip did this to her, she couldn’t imagine what the female lead was going through after a whole glass. To endure that and remain rational… her self-control must be terrifying.
At that moment, Qin Xiaoxiao didn’t realize that the female lead was always in a state of “heat” whenever she saw her. Xiang Liwei had long since built up a resistance to those unspeakable desires. Even with the drug as an “enhancer,” it wasn’t much different from her usual state of mind.
The situation was dire. Qin Xiaoxiao glanced at the male lead in the distance.
If he doesn’t come over soon, she thought, I’ll chase the fat guy away myself, settle the female lead somewhere, and bolt home to deal with this ‘biological emergency’.
She couldn’t stay in the bar any longer. Compared to the mission, her dignity (and sanity) took priority.
Perhaps she had been unlucky for too long, because finally, the tides turned. The male lead, living up to expectations, turned his head and saw the confrontation in the corner. He frowned and began to walk toward them.
On the surface, he looked like a righteous passerby stepping in to help. But inwardly, he knew he had come to “Night Colors” specifically for Xiang Liwei.
It felt like destiny. While serving as a judge for an audition, he had seen her and fallen in love at first sight. He had tracked down her contact info and tried to pursue her, but she had treated him like thin air. He wasn’t deterred; the more she ignored him, the more determined he became.
Lately, Duan Longze had bought a gift and wanted to give it to her in person. Unfortunately, Xiang Liwei was a workaholic who stayed at the company day and night. He couldn’t just walk into her agency without causing a scandal. Tonight, his subordinates had tipped him off about her location.
When he arrived and saw her with others, he had planned to wait at the bar until she was alone. But then he saw a “pig-headed” fat man approach his crush.
Duan Longze played it smart. He wanted to wait until Xiang Liwei was driven to the brink of despair before saving her. That way, he would be the light in her darkness, and her gratitude would be doubled.
With that in mind, he quickened his pace.
“Let her go,” he said, his voice cold.
The fat man glanced back at the newcomer, then went back to teasing the girl. Xiang Liwei was crouched in the corner, her head buried between her knees, looking utterly pitiable. The fat man was pulling her hair, trying to wedge his fingers between her arms and legs to touch her face. His other hand was in his pocket, clutching a hard, black object.
The fat man’s face darkened. He was on guard, ready to strike.
“I said, let go.” Under his mask, Duan Longze gave a cold smile.
The fat man didn’t budge. Duan Longze didn’t waste any more words; he balled his fist and aimed for the fat man’s head. He went for a vital spot, confident in his victory.
Duan Longze was fast, but the fat man was faster.
Suddenly, the fat man whipped a stun gun out of his pocket and lunged, pressing it against Duan Longze’s chest.
Zzzzt—!
The current surged through his body, shocking his heart. The faint smell of singed meat filled the air. Duan Longze convulsed for a moment and then went into immediate shock.
The fight was over in the blink of an eye. A few bystanders who had been planning to gossip or intervene saw the man collapse, and they quietly sat back down and called the police instead.
Watching the male lead fall with a thud, Qin Xiaoxiao had only one thought:
Men… seriously, not a single one can be relied upon.
“Xiaoli, it’s time to go home.” The fat man knew he had gone too far and was eager to escape, but he couldn’t bear to leave his “prey” behind.
Since the waiter hadn’t returned with the owner, Qin Xiaoxiao was on her own. She saw people calling the police and took a step back.
“The police will be here any minute. Aren’t you afraid?”
To openly kidnap a woman and stun a man—this guy was lawless. I’m sorry, but anyone more arrogant than me is either not yet born or on their way to a reincarnation.
The fat man’s face soured. Weighing his options, he decided to give up. “You’re lucky,” he hissed at Qin Xiaoxiao, turning to leave.
Just as he lifted his foot…
Smash!
A sharp pain exploded at the back of his head. The sound of breaking glass echoed in his ears, and the scent of wine filled his nose. He couldn’t tell if it was alcohol or blood soaking into his hair.
The fat man spun around dazed. Before him stood a woman with a bright, wicked smile.
“Since I told you to scram and you didn’t, I’ll help you stay,” she said with a playboy’s nonchalance. “Enjoy rotting in a cell, you piece of trash.”
In her hand was the broken base of a wine bottle; the top half had been shattered across his skull.
“You…” The fat man managed one word before his consciousness failed and he slumped to the floor.
Qin Xiaoxiao let out a long breath. She had been ruthless, precise, and fast.
Reflecting on her day, she realized she had played the villain, the lackey, and now even the male lead’s hero role. I need a triple bonus for this, thanks.
As the chaos subsided, the bar owner finally returned, drenched in sweat.
“Sorry, sorry! I’m late!” he panted. “I finished my ‘small business’ only to realize I had ‘big business,’ and then there was no toilet paper in the stall…”
He trailed off as his eyes landed on the two men on the floor, one with blood streaming down his head. He nearly choked. He had ordered his staff to ignore the corner so the “Sister Ni” could commit her crime in peace.
But… the plan was to “harass” a girl. How did it end with two men face-down?
“They… they…” the owner stammered.
“They’re your problem now,” Qin Xiaoxiao said, biting her tongue again to suppress the rising heat. She instructed calmly, “When the police come and ask for my statement, give them my father’s work number.”
Though her father had “disowned” her in a fit of rage over the original host’s behavior, he wouldn’t ignore a story about some random creep trying to assault his daughter.
After giving her instructions, she asked the owner for a private booth key and a length of cotton rope.
Then, she looked at the female lead. At some point, Xiang Liwei had crawled up and was standing behind her like a lingering ghost.
“You were so amazing just now,” the girl said, her face full of adoration and worship.
Qin Xiaoxiao: “…”
Girl, you’ve got the wrong target! Your male lead is literally unconscious on the floor!
“Forget it. Just follow me.” Qin Xiaoxiao gave her a cool look and walked toward the private booths. The girl followed happily.
Hearing the conversation about the rope and the booth, Xiang Liwei’s heart raced with anticipation. Is she taking me to a room… to do ‘that’ with me? Yes, it must be! Her long-cherished wish was finally coming true.
They entered a booth and Qin Xiaoxiao flipped the light on. “Sit,” she commanded, pointing to a chair.
Xiang Liwei obeyed instantly. Noticing the rope in the other woman’s hand, her pale face flushed deep red. Bondage… play?
As the moment approached, Xiang Liwei felt a sudden wave of shyness. “It… it’s my first time,” she whispered, looking up with eyes like dark grapes. Then she lowered her head. “But… you don’t have to be gentle with me.”
“I wasn’t planning to be.”
Qin Xiaoxiao bit her lip as she untangled the rope. It had been twenty minutes, and the drug wasn’t fading—it was getting worse. Even the pain from biting her tongue couldn’t mask it. She had to finish this quickly.
She wound the rope around Xiang Liwei—three loops left, three loops right. Throughout the process, the female lead didn’t struggle once. She only let out a few strange, soft moans.
Finally, Qin Xiaoxiao tied a tight knot. Done.
“I’ll check on you tomorrow morning,” Qin Xiaoxiao panted. Then she bolted from the room and locked the door behind her, her silhouette looking like she was fleeing for her life.
In the booth, the girl was left sitting alone.
She left? She just… left? Xiang Liwei was in disbelief. Because she was tied up, she couldn’t move, let alone chase after her.
“Ugh… hnnn…” she let out a small, frustrated whimper.
It was 11:00 PM when Qin Xiaoxiao returned to her apartment complex. The autumn wind was cold, but it did nothing to dampen the restless heat in her body. As she hurried toward her door, she suddenly froze.
A chestnut-haired woman was leaning against the wall by her apartment. She wore a khaki coat over a pink-and-white checkered shirt. Seeing Qin Xiaoxiao, Qu Li rubbed her sleepy eyes and stepped forward.
“You’re back,” Qu Li said.
“What are you doing here?” Qin Xiaoxiao asked.
They spoke almost simultaneously. Qu Li blinked and smiled. “My phone is still with you.”
“…Come in.”
Qin Xiaoxiao felt awkward. She opened the door and let Qu Li inside. Once they were in, she sat on the sofa and pulled the phone out from beside her.
“Here,” she said weakly.
Qu Li leaned in close. She sniffed the air near Qin Xiaoxiao’s face. “You smell like alcohol. Have you been drinking?”
“Mm… just leave me alone for a bit,” Qin Xiaoxiao muttered.
Qu Li’s scent—a light, clean fragrance—was suddenly overwhelming. At this distance, their breaths mingled. Qin Xiaoxiao’s heart fluttered, and she jerked her head away. Usually, she didn’t feel much when she heard the starlet’s gentle voice, but in this state, it made her skin crawl with a pleasant itch. It was like being stroked by a feather, right down to her soul.
Her voice is so beautiful it could make someone pregnant, Qin Xiaoxiao thought absurdly.
Unaware of her thoughts, Qu Li looked at her flushed cheeks. “Your face is so red.” She reached out a hand to Qin Xiaoxiao’s forehead. “Do you have a fever?”
“Hng…” A soft moan escaped Qin Xiaoxiao’s lips. The cool touch of Qu Li’s hand felt heavenly.
Qu Li smiled gently. “Alcohol is fine in moderation, but you shouldn’t overdo it. Did you forget the painful lesson from last time? I’ll go make you some sober-up soup.”
She patted Qin Xiaoxiao’s head and started to pull her hand away.
Suddenly, her hand was caught by another, burning-hot hand. With a forceful tug, Qu Li was pulled down, losing her balance and falling right onto the other woman.
Cradled in Qin Xiaoxiao’s arms, Qu Li felt the soft warmth beneath her and heard a faint, rapid heartbeat. She could smell the sweet, intoxicating scent on the woman’s skin.
Then, Qin Xiaoxiao wrapped her arms around Qu Li’s waist.
Qu Li’s embrace was fragrant and warm. Her body was so soft that holding her was unexpectedly addictive. Resting her head on the starlet’s shoulder, breathing in the scent of her body wash, Qin Xiaoxiao felt her mind finally begin to quiet. At least the “lewd thoughts” had subsided for a moment.
On the other hand, Qu Li was no longer composed. A flush crept up her own neck. Luckily, in this position, the other woman couldn’t see her face.
They stayed in silence for a long while. Eventually, sensing no movement, Qu Li thought Qin Xiaoxiao had fallen asleep. She tried to wriggle out of the embrace to go make the soup.
“Don’t move…”
Qin Xiaoxiao’s voice sounded in her ear—hoarse, as if she were exerting every ounce of strength to restrain herself.
