Accidentally Becoming a Green Tea Goddess Everyone Loves - Chapter 33
Shen Shirou still hadn’t managed to convince Lu Yanwei.
Lu Yanwei’s resignation had become an irreversible reality.
For several days in a row, Shen Shirou did nothing but sigh. She hardly even left her room.
Qi Yan noticed her unusual behavior. During this time, under Qi Yan’s instructions, the housekeeper knocked on her door to check in: “Miss Shen, are you feeling unwell? Should I call a doctor for you?”
Through the door, Shen Shirou’s voice drifted out: “I’m fine.”
“You haven’t eaten your dinner yet,” the housekeeper added. “Miss Qi is still waiting for you.”
Shen Shirou had no appetite at all. “I’m not hungry. Tell Qi Yan to go ahead and eat; she doesn’t need to wait for me.”
The housekeeper left. A moment later, the knocking returned.
Shen Shirou asked, “Is there something else?”
The person outside didn’t answer, but the knocking continued. Shen Shirou got up from the bed and opened the door. This time, it wasn’t the housekeeper standing there—it was Qi Yan.
Qi Yan asked her, “Why aren’t you eating?”
“I don’t feel like it,” Shen Shirou replied.
As soon as the words left her mouth, Qi Yan leaned forward and lightly touched Shen Shirou’s forehead with the back of her hand.
Shen Shirou stepped back. “What are you doing?”
“Since you aren’t sick,” Qi Yan said, confirming her temperature was normal, “why aren’t you eating? I asked the housekeeper; you didn’t eat much at lunch, either.”
“Is it because the food doesn’t suit your taste.” Qi Yan paused for a beat, “or is it because you miss Jiang Peixing?”
Shen Shirou hadn’t expected Qi Yan to bring up Jiang Peixing. Did Qi Yan think she was so lovesick that she couldn’t even swallow food?
While her loss of appetite did have a tiny bit to do with Jiang Peixing, it wasn’t in the way Qi Yan implied.
“It has nothing to do with Sister Jiang,” Shen Shirou said.
“If you aren’t going to tell me the reason, I won’t ask,” Qi Yan said, leaning against the doorframe. “But you can’t skip dinner. Tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll have someone prepare it.”
Shen Shirou shook her head. “Thank you, but that’s not necessary.”
Qi Yan said in a low, firm voice, “If you won’t go to the dining room, I don’t mind having them bring the meal to your room.”
Her posture suggested she wouldn’t take no for an answer. Realizing she couldn’t refuse, Shen Shirou stepped out. “Fine, I’m going now.”
Shen Shirou walked to the dining table with Qi Yan following behind. The entire spread of food was untouched, looking exactly as it had when it was served. Qi Yan hadn’t eaten either.
Shen Shirou glanced at Qi Yan out of the corner of her eye. Qi Yan picked up her chopsticks and took a small taste of every dish.
“Wait a moment,” Qi Yan said. “These dishes have gone cold.”
Shen Shirou didn’t plan on eating much anyway and was about to say it wasn’t a problem—that she could eat them cold but Qi Yan beat her to it and summoned the housekeeper. Under the housekeeper’s orders, the servants carried the cold dishes back to the kitchen to be reheated.
Shen Shirou had originally intended to just pick at the food to be polite. But seeing Qi Yan go through such great lengths just so she could have a proper meal made her feel a little guilty. She ended up finishing the meal in earnest.
As dinner ended and Shen Shirou was about to leave, she heard Qi Yan say, “Darling, if you refuse to show up tomorrow, I’ll be knocking on your door again.”
Shen Shirou didn’t say a word, but the next day, she appeared at the dining table right on time.
A week passed in the blink of an eye.
Compared to a few days ago, Shen Shirou’s mood had gradually stabilized. Although she still wanted to return to her original world, she had no idea how to proceed with playing matchmaker for Lu Yanwei and Jiang Peixing, so she temporarily pushed the matter to the back of her mind.
Over the past three days, Shen Shirou had politely declined all of Lu Yanwei’s invitations. Escapism might be shameful, but it was certainly effective.
During this time, she also took the opportunity to look into the state of Jiang Peixing’s company. Just as Qi Yan had said, the company had been in turmoil and on the brink of collapse half a month ago. Now, things had settled. Aside from some financial losses, there was no major damage.
Qi Yan had kept her word. Knowing this, Shen Shirou stopped looking for news about Jiang Peixing.
One day, Qi Yan called the house. She had left some office documents at home.
The housekeeper was prepared to deliver them personally, but Shen Shirou offered to do it instead, wanting a reason to visit Qi Yan’s company. As Shen Shirou was a guest, the housekeeper couldn’t decide for her and asked for Qi Yan’s opinion over the phone.
On the other end of the line, Qi Yan paused for three seconds.
“That’s fine,” Qi Yan said. “If she wants to bring them, have someone drive her here.”
With Qi Yan’s approval, the housekeeper handed the documents to Shen Shirou. Then, the family driver was instructed to take her to the company building.
Upon arriving, Shen Shirou realized that Qi Yan’s company was very close to Jiang Peixing’s—only two streets apart. It was likely a twenty-minute walk at most.
As soon as she entered, the receptionist asked for her name. Once she identified herself, someone immediately led her toward Qi Yan’s office.
Shen Shirou asked, “Don’t I need to wait downstairs?”
The employee explained, “President Qi gave us instructions in advance: if Miss Shen arrives, bring her straight to the office.”
When Shen Shirou walked into the office, Qi Yan stopped what she was doing.
Shen Shirou placed the documents on the desk. “Here is what you wanted.”
Qi Yan ignored the documents and instead glanced at the wall clock. It was noon. It took about half an hour to get from the house to the office. By that calculation, Shen Shirou hadn’t eaten lunch yet.
Qi Yan stood up from her chair. “Let’s go.”
Shen Shirou blinked, startled. “Go where?”
Qi Yan gave a playful, teasing smile. “I’m taking you on a date.”
In a nearby restaurant, the two sat at a window-side table. Qi Yan handed the menu to Shen Shirou, then excused herself to take a sudden business call.
After ordering, Shen Shirou waited at the table. She rested her cheek in her hand, idly gazing out the window.
Her gaze drifted until it caught on a Bentley parked by the curb. It was a car identical to Jiang Peixing’s.
