- Chapter 36 - The Green Tea Transmigrates - Day 36
Meng Ziqing pulled Qin Yue along to catch up with the main group, handing their luggage to the staff member in charge of bags. “Thank you…”
She then bowed and lowered her head to board the bus, taking the very front seat.
“Everyone accounted for? Then let’s set off,” the driver’s uncle called out. The large bus started moving, carrying half of the production team towards the hotel.
After getting off the plane, the drive from the airport to the hotel was another hour-plus journey. The travel throughout the day was exhausting. Although they hadn’t been running or jumping, it was still a considerable mental drain—in short, they were tired.
Fortunately, none of the guests showed symptoms of altitude sickness, which made both the dating show production team and the viewers in the live stream heave a sigh of relief.
Outside the window, the moon was bright and the stars were sparse. The high, vast sky was like an ink-colored cloth, seemingly within reach. Inside the bus, the light was dim and a Tibetan song was playing. The melody was long and melodious, and the characteristic high-pitched notes were not jarring; instead, they were smooth, evoking thoughts of boundless grasslands and bringing a sense of tranquility.
Under the sound of the music, the guests slowly closed their eyes, their brows relaxing as they peacefully enjoyed this moment of quiet.
During this time, only Qin Yue kept a tight grip on Meng Ziqing’s hand. Her fair, slender hand was slightly cool, like a piece of warm jade, but her palm was a little damp. Her expression hadn’t changed much, but it was obvious that she was still flustered—flustered by the nightmare she had on the plane.
Meng Ziqing was also tired. Her eyes were sleepy as she gently patted Qin Yue’s hand. She didn’t say anything, but instead leaned directly into Qin Yue’s arms.
“I’m sleepy, Sis,” she murmured, rubbing against Qin Yue’s chest.
“Then sleep for a while,” Qin Yue said softly, one arm unconsciously wrapping around Meng Ziqing’s waist. “It’ll be a while before we get there.”
She closed her eyes as she spoke. Holding Meng Ziqing like this, feeling her breathing rise and fall and her body temperature, gave her a sense of safety.
“Mhm, okay…” Meng Ziqing responded drowsily, shifting slightly to find a more comfortable position in Qin Yue’s arms.
Qin Yue had a very good figure; leaning against her was quite soft. Meng Ziqing sighed comfortably and fell asleep right there in Qin Yue’s embrace.
As Meng Ziqing’s consciousness was blurry, she felt the Tibetan song stop and the surroundings become noisy. Then, someone patted her shoulder and spoke softly in her ear, telling her to wake up, that they had arrived at the hotel.
“Wake up, we’re at the hotel.”
“Ugh.”
Meng Ziqing buried her head in Qin Yue’s chest and struggled for a long time before opening her eyes. Her unslept head hurt terribly at her temples.
She blinked her moist, bright eyes, grabbed Qin Yue’s shirt corner, and whined pitifully, “Sis, I’m so sleepy.”
Seeing this, Qin Yue had no choice but to pull her off the bus.
And so, half-asleep and half-awake, Meng Ziqing was led by Qin Yue like a child to complete the check-in procedures and arrive at their room.
The moment she reached the room, she tossed her luggage aside, walked to the bed with a zombie-like shuffle, and then plopped straight onto it. She lay motionless, wilting, her headache making her want to just sleep right there.
The air suddenly became quiet.
Meng Ziqing was naturally thin, with frail shoulders. Falling face-down on the bed in her white clothes, she was like a sheet of paper with no presence, entirely still, as if she were dead.
Qin Yue’s heart stopped for a second. She frowned tightly, placed the luggage aside, and walked over, slightly anxiously pulling at Meng Ziqing twice. “Don’t sleep yet. Get up, take a shower, and then sleep.”
Meng Ziqing squirmed on the bed and refused, “Sis, I’ll shower tomorrow morning. Not tonight, I’m too tired.”
“No, you have to get up and shower,” Qin Yue said, pulling her again when Meng Ziqing didn’t react.
Her clear, cold eyes held persistence, as well as a panic she hadn’t even noticed herself.
She knew it was a difficult request, and she knew Meng Ziqing was very tired and wanted to sleep and rest.
But she… simply didn’t want to see Meng Ziqing looking so lifeless right now.
“No way…” Meng Ziqing rolled over, drew out her voice in a spoiled manner, and looked at Qin Yue with an aggrieved expression, her eyes barely open. “Too sleepy…”
“Get up and shower.”
“I don’t want to…”
“Hurry up and get up. You can sleep after you shower.”
“I won’t…”
“Get up!” Qin Yue’s tone was firm, with a posture of not giving up until she achieved her goal.
Meng Ziqing: “…”
Her temples were throbbing fiercely, and the woman in front of her was being relentlessly aggressive. Meng Ziqing felt extremely helpless, and equally irritated.
She wasn’t a very good-tempered person. On the contrary, the slightest unhappiness would set her off. Enduring this prolonged back-and-forth with Qin Yue was her absolute maximum tolerance.
Meng Ziqing sat up, cross-legged. Even though her back wasn’t straight and she looked exhausted, she inexplicably exuded an imposing aura.
She met Qin Yue’s gaze and spoke word by word, full of gunpowder, “Sis, you ignored me the last couple of days, so there’s no need to control me now, right?”
“The last couple of days… I was too busy with my business trip,” Qin Yue was taken aback by Meng Ziqing bringing up old scores, and she retorted angrily, “That was then, this is now.”
“My situation was special at the time; I didn’t look at my phone much,” she grew more righteous as she spoke.
“You had time to watch the videos your subordinate sent you, but no time to look at what I sent you, huh?” Meng Ziqing pouted and spoke sarcastically.
“I had already returned by then…” Qin Yue stumbled over her words, realizing this was a trap Meng Ziqing had set. She changed the subject. “Didn’t you also leave with the kidnapper without so much as saying goodbye to me?”
“Do you know how worried and angry I was at the time?” In Qin Yue’s clear, cold eyes flickered shock and worry, and her calm voice choked a little.
“You already let out that anger back then, didn’t you?” Meng Ziqing spread her arms and looked down at herself, perfectly intact. “Besides, I’m perfectly fine now.”
“Is that the same?” Qin Yue countered.
“What’s different about it?” Meng Ziqing said, “You’re just bringing up old scores now.”
“Don’t beat around the bush with me. I’m bringing up old scores? You clearly started it,” Qin Yue said. “You just don’t want to listen to me, that’s why you’re bringing up the topic of me ignoring you.”
“That’s right, I just don’t want to listen,” Meng Ziqing openly admitted.
“When little dogs listen, their owners pet their heads. What about me? I listen, and I get nothing.”
“Not only did I not see you, you wouldn’t even reply on WeChat,” Meng Ziqing grew angrier the more she thought about it.
Just now, she had wanted to argue to distract Qin Yue from her insecurity, but now she was genuinely angry.
No kisses, no hugs, she couldn’t even see the person or talk to her, yet she was still expected to listen. That was too much bullying—not even a dog would be teased like this.
At this thought, unvaluable tears welled up in Meng Ziqing’s eyes.
“You just don’t want to deal with me, and now you want me to listen to you. Why should I?” she said, trying to hold back her sobs.
“Why should I listen to you when you ignored me for so many days? You didn’t even send a perfunctory emoji. You just didn’t want to deal with me.”
“How is that possible? How could I really ignore you?” Seeing Meng Ziqing cry, Qin Yue said, headache throbbing. “I was upset then, too. I was still mad that you went into danger alone. Did you think about yourself then? Did you think about me? What did you take me for? I was very angry too.”
“The situation was so urgent then, and I left clues for you to find me,” Meng Ziqing retorted self-righteously. “If I hadn’t gone, who knows who Gu Yang, that psycho, would target next. If he targeted you, it would be better for me to go.”
Qin Yue’s jade-like face instantly flushed. “But you…”
Before Qin Yue could finish, Meng Ziqing grabbed her, pulled her onto the bed, and pinned her down.
A slight weight pressed against her waist, a shadow enveloped Qin Yue, and warm tears dripped onto her face—Meng Ziqing was crying.
Meng Ziqing sobbed while wiping her tears. “What’s past is past, why do you keep bringing it up?”
“I…”
“Aren’t you just lacking a sense of security because of the nightmare? How could I make you feel unsafe?” Meng Ziqing said seriously to Qin Yue. “Qin Yue, I’m right here, alive, right by your side, where you can touch me with a single reach.”
“I’m a person. I get tired, I suffer, and I need to eat and sleep. Right now, I’m very sleepy and tired, and I need to sleep.”
She held up two fingers, looking down at Qin Yue.
“You only have two choices now: either you go shower yourself, or you sleep with me.”
“You…”
Qin Yue was stunned. Seeing this, Meng Ziqing immediately declared, giving Qin Yue no chance to react, “Okay, Sis, you chose two, to sleep with me.”
In a few quick motions, she took off both her and Qin Yue’s clothes, then pulled the blanket over them, kissed Qin Yue, and fell asleep faster than anything.
“Bo-bo, good night, Sis.”
