- Chapter 30 - The Green Tea Transmigrator's Thirtieth Day
Meng Ziqing had been gone for too long, and the bodyguards instinctively felt something was wrong.
“It’s bad, hurry up and look for her.” The head bodyguard frowned. With his command, three bodyguards quickly set off in the direction Meng Ziqing had taken.
They searched the entire garage.
However, in the end, they only found one of Meng Ziqing’s earrings. The earring must have dropped accidentally during a struggle, lying forlornly on the ground.
The head bodyguard bent down and picked up the earring, his heart sinking. He knew Meng Ziqing had been abducted.
The employer being harmed on his very first day on the job was a major failure on his part.
But the most important thing now was to find her quickly to prevent the employer from suffering further harm.
Thinking this, he didn’t hesitate for a moment and called Qin Yue.
“Hello, where are you now?”
In the study, Qin Yue was organizing various company proposals for the upcoming period. Hearing the phone ring and seeing it was the bodyguards calling, she naturally answered and asked.
She looked up at the time—7:10 PM. It was rushing hour in the city center. Meng Ziqing got off work at six. An hour and ten minutes. Even with a bit of a delay, she should be back soon.
The housekeeper had made her favorite sweet and sour fish; they could start dinner right when she returned. Qin Yue thought distractedly while flipping through documents.
The bodyguard on the other end was silent for a moment before saying, “Miss Qin, Miss Meng… she’s been kidnapped…”
The voice, carrying a bit of static, came through the phone with a hint of apology, pouring into Qin Yue’s ears.
Qin Yue’s finger, flipping through the documents, froze. She was slightly stunned, her mind buffering, “What did you say?”
“Miss Meng… she’s been kidnapped,” the voice on the other end repeated.
“Clatter—” The documents were gripped tightly by her long, powerful fingers and shredded, crumpled into a ball.
“I am terribly sorry, Miss Qin, this is our mistake…”
The bodyguard’s apology was sincere, but Qin Yue could no longer hear any of it. Her ears were filled with a sharp buzzing sound—
Qin Yue gripped her phone tightly, her voice calm and low, forcibly suppressing the inner storm. “Go find her. Call the police.”
“First, contact the police to check surveillance footage. Also, there’s a tracker in Meng Ziqing’s earring. Go look for it.”
“Yes, Miss Qin.”
Hanging up the phone, Qin Yue felt as if all strength had been drained from her body. She slumped weakly onto the desk, her heart still beating rapidly. Her thin lips trembled as she shut her eyes with a hint of despair, her eyelashes fluttering and casting shadows.
What should I do…
Meng Ziqing, you absolutely must not be in danger.
“Host, you absolutely must not be in danger.”
Inside the kidnapper’s minivan, the CP System anxiously whirled around Meng Ziqing.
After getting through the city center traffic jam, the minivan sped like an arrow toward the outskirts of the city.
The night was hazy, and the road gradually changed from smooth to bumpy, making people feel nauseous and dizzy.
Meng Ziqing woke up under these circumstances. She had been somewhat prepared before the kidnapping, so the amount of gas she inhaled wasn’t too much, allowing her to wake up midway.
The situation now was not much different from what she had imagined, perhaps even a bit better.
At least they hadn’t searched her while she was unconscious. That would have disgusted her and made her want to kill Gu Yang even more.
A black blindfold covered Meng Ziqing’s eyes, so she could only hear and feel. The earthy, damp smell in the air grew stronger. The deep dew of the night made her fair skin break out in goosebumps.
There was no conversation from the kidnappers; it was completely silent, as if they were two dead men. She could only hear the difficult roar of the minivan’s engine and the crunching sound of the wheels crushing gravel on the bumpy road.
“There’s a tracker in the earring. Qin Yue will come back for me.” Meng Ziqing reassured the CP System. Though it was a small comfort, it managed to steady the cowardly system.
“When I see Gu Yang, start recording,” Meng Ziqing instructed. “It needs to be edited—add some static noise, but keep the dialogue clear. Can you do that?”
The CP System nodded. “I can…”
“And when Gu Yang arrives, post these recordings online,” Meng Ziqing’s voice was chilling. “Send a separate copy to Old Master Gu.”
“Gu Corporation CEO’s Mental Breakdown, Kidnapping, and Attempted Murder,” she said slowly, articulating each word.
Meng Ziqing wanted to blow the matter up, to make it as big as possible, to the point where people would feel it was intolerable for Gu Yang not to be in a mental asylum.
“Host, are you really going to post about your kidnapping online?” The CP System couldn’t even bear to think about it now. “When Gu Yang finds out, he’ll be furious and might actually hurt you.”
Its round, small light-ball body shivered. It couldn’t imagine the huge butterfly effect that would be caused once Meng Ziqing’s kidnapping case was posted online.
“Host, you’ll get hurt!”
“Post it…” Meng Ziqing’s voice was faint. Her eyes were pitch black under the blindfold, and her posture was like someone still asleep or unconscious, but her inner voice did not allow the CP System to refuse. “It’s come to this point. I don’t mind adding fuel to the fire.”
“You’re playing with fire and you’ll burn yourself!” The CP System was genuinely angry. It burst into tears and spoke without thinking, “Your life was so hard-won the second time around! You can’t lose it again because of this scumbag.”
“Then let the fire burn even hotter,” Meng Ziqing replied, completely indifferent. Her eyes under the black blindfold were dark. “Let’s see if the fire burns me first, or if I put out the fire first.”
The minivan finally reached its destination. Before the Gu Corporation ventured into the entertainment industry, it had been a manufacturing business, and this was one of its abandoned factory buildings.
It had been derelict for over ten years. The huge factory was covered with a thick blanket of dust. Some sharp corners had been rounded by the accumulated grime. Dust motes floated in the moonlight, and every step would leave a clear trail of footprints.
Faking unconsciousness was a difficult job, at least for Meng Ziqing.
She was carried out of the car by two kidnappers. After a period of uncomfortable suspension in the air, she was tossed onto a dusty concrete slab.
With the kidnappers’ action, a huge cloud of dust instantly billowed up, and Meng Ziqing’s white dress was stained a muddy gray-black.
“Cough, cough—” Meng Ziqing coughed uncomfortably, curling up on the ground in a small, pitiful bundle. Her long, dark, curled hair was disheveled around her neck, also dusted with gray.
She looked innocent and pitiable.
In any light, she didn’t look like someone who should have to endure this kind of senseless disaster.
“Tsk, this woman is unlucky, getting mixed up with a lunatic like that.”
“Just leave her there,” one kidnapper said to the other, clapping his hands. “Now all we have to do is wait for Young Master Gu to arrive.”
The other kidnapper asked, “We don’t need to do anything ourselves?”
“No, Young Master Gu said he’d handle it personally.” The kidnapper snorted, “Fiancé kidnapping his fiancée. Seriously, it takes all sorts to make a world.”
“Ah, well, we won’t get involved in their business. Come on, let’s go outside and have a smoke.”
His companion waved him off, and the two walked away arm-in-arm.
Having been in the underworld for a long time, the two brothers weren’t interested in women; it wasn’t as exciting as gambling. So, they only wanted money.
After the two left, Meng Ziqing slowly opened her eyes, tore off the black blindfold covering her eyes, and rolled her eyes in annoyance.
They genuinely underestimated her, thinking she couldn’t make trouble. They hadn’t even tied her hands and feet, only symbolically covered her eyes with a black blindfold.
Just as Meng Ziqing was thinking of getting up, footsteps approaching from outside made her sit down again.
She propped herself up on the ground with her pale, slender wrist, her eyes quickly filling with moisture. She looked around frantically, her expression panicked.
In the moonlight, the girl looked like a moon that had been suddenly knocked down. Her slender waist looked as though it could be snapped with a single grip. The faint light surrounding her was dimmed by the dust that stained her clothes. She looked completely lost, utterly devoid of her usual haughty and sharp aggression.
When Gu Yang walked in with a dark expression, he sneered.
“Meng Ziqing, so you have a day like this, too.”
“It really is you.” Meng Ziqing’s eyes widened slightly, her words sounding like they were squeezed through her teeth, but there was a glint of tears as she stood up.
Gu Yang laughed, his well-shaped eyes revealing a hint of madness. “Of course it’s me, Miss Meng. Who else could it be?”
“You were so brazen back then. I didn’t expect a worthless person like you would dare to pursue Qin Yue?”
He slowly advanced towards Meng Ziqing, his hands starting to shake uncontrollably.
“And you dared to call the police, you bitch, putting horns on my head, and then daring to call the police to send me to detention?!”
His eyes were bloodshot. He grabbed Meng Ziqing by the collar and savagely yanked her towards him. “You knew all along that the Old Master had an illegitimate child, didn’t you! Watching me work my butt off for the Gu Corporation, only to end up making a wedding dress for someone else—that must feel great, huh?”
“You don’t even consider whether that bastard can enter the Gu family’s door!” he roared; his handsome face twisted in a terrifying, manic expression.
“Don’t touch me…” Meng Ziqing’s voice was somewhat broken, her eyes filled with hatred.
“Hah, ‘don’t touch me.’ Do you think I give a damn about a used whore like you?” Gu Yang had completely lost his mind. “Meng Ziqing, I’m going to make your life a living hell.”
Going to detention, the Gu Corporation’s scandal being exposed—all these things made Gu Yang only want Meng Ziqing to die. And as for Old Master Gu’s illegitimate son… he desperately wanted Meng Ziqing to suffer a fate worse than death.
He was the sole heir of the Gu Corporation. No matter what happened to him, the Gu Corporation was his.
No matter what happened to him, the Gu Corporation was his!
That illegitimate son? Go to hell!
The illegitimate son was an attack on the fundamental core of his being.
“Ugh—” Meng Ziqing was close to suffocating. She struggled, narrowing her eyes, and sneered, “What are you afraid of right now? Afraid you’re not as good as him?”
“Afraid you’re worthless? Afraid the heir Old Master Gu favors, isn’t you?”
“Afraid you’ll be swept out the door?”
“B*llsh*t!” Gu Yang shouted, “What the hell do you know? How could a useless person like you, who knows nothing about business management, possibly know how much I’ve done for the Gu Corporation?!”
“Then why are you so nervous right now?” Meng Ziqing’s face was flushed red, but she smiled, her dark eyes full of reckless mockery. “Isn’t it because you’re afraid? Afraid the Gu Corporation will change hands, afraid you’ll become—”
She took a deep breath, meeting Gu Yang’s gaze, her eyes blazing with a fierce madness, while gathering strength in her hands. “A stray dog!”
“Shut up!”
Gu Yang raised his palm, intending to slap Meng Ziqing across the face.
He hated Meng Ziqing’s mouth, which had stripped away his facade and exposed the deepest fears in his heart.
“Damn it, don’t touch me!”
Meng Ziqing was disgusted. Her hand and his palm struck almost simultaneously. Her grip closed around Gu Yang’s wrist. With a quick twist, she used a clever leverage move to execute a shoulder throw on him.
Dust flew everywhere. The dull thud of a body hitting the concrete floor echoed. The man, who never expected Meng Ziqing to turn the tables on him, doubled over from the intense pain in his spine and let out a painful groan.
“Ugh—”
Hesitation in a fight leads to defeat. Meng Ziqing had never lost since she was a child. Her attacks were brutal, extremely brutal.
Her conscious thoughts couldn’t keep up with her body’s instinctive movements. By the time Meng Ziqing’s awareness returned, she had already picked up a rusted iron bar from nearby.
She swung it down in one strike.
“Aargh!”
In the next second, the man’s scream and the sound of his wrist bone fracturing rang out simultaneously.
Specks of blood splashed onto Meng Ziqing’s dusty face, warm at first, then quickly cooling. Meng Ziqing casually wiped it off, leaving a bloody smear.
She looked down at Gu Yang on the floor, her eyes devoid of emotion, only a chilling coldness.
“I told you, don’t touch me.”
Police sirens blared outside, the red light glaring and obvious. The sound of the kidnappers begging for mercy outside the factory-made Meng Ziqing narrow her eyes. She belatedly thought, Qin Yue must be here too.
She definitely came. She had to come and get her.
So Meng Ziqing waited patiently, waiting for Qin Yue to arrive and take her.
The police officers entered with cautious eyes. When they saw the scene inside the factory, their eyes widened slightly.
In the moonlight, the girl was covered in dust, her white dress stained with blood, yet a smile played on her lips. She was holding a rusted iron bar, and at her feet lay a man who had fainted from pain. Her dark eyes looked over, emotionless, sending a shiver down the officers’ spines.
“Good evening, officers.”
Meng Ziqing tossed the bar down and patted one of the officers on the shoulder, making him feel a chill down his spine. “I’ll leave this to you. Work hard.”
She didn’t have time to deal with this anymore. She had to go find Qin Yue.
“Jiejie!”
She hadn’t even left the factory when she saw Qin Yue at the doorway and happily greeted her.
“Meng Ziqing…” Qin Yue’s voice was choked when she saw her.
Qin Yue ran toward her, and Meng Ziqing naturally ran toward her too. Just as she was thinking of giving Qin Yue a victory hug—
“Slap—”
A slap landed on Meng Ziqing’s face. It was so hard that Meng Ziqing’s head rang.
But immediately afterward, Qin Yue embraced her tightly, with a force so great it was as if she wanted to embed Meng Ziqing into herself to become one whole. Meng Ziqing was stunned.
“Meng Ziqing, where did this promise of coming home in the daytime go?!”
“Where did this assurance of making me feel safe after you leave work go?!”
“Where did this ‘safe arrival home’ promise go?!”
Qin Yue shut her eyes in a state of collapse. She held Meng Ziqing tightly, her body trembling uncontrollably, completely losing her usual cold, elegant composure. Her twenty-eight years of cultivation and temperament were thrown away in this moment.
Right now, she was just a frantic woman who had been terrified and subjected to mental torment because her partner had been kidnapped.
She choked, “Where did you go.”
