- Chapter 9 - Good Manners, But Not Many
The door opened with a creak. A hand reached through the gap, appearing purple, bloated, and enlarged, as if it had been soaked in water for a very long time.
The landlady poked her head inside, her pitch-black eyes scanning the room before landing on the four people in the corner. Her face devoid of any expression, she walked straight toward them.
The knife in her hand was still dripping with the blood of other players.
Shen Weiran fired another shot. Blue flames erupted on the landlady’s body, causing her to let out a shrill, piercing cry and stagger several steps backward.
The landlady bared her fangs with a hideous expression, her deep pupils locked onto them. She then threw herself onto the floor and began to crawl toward them, her limbs twisting like an octopus.
“F*ck, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
The woman in white screamed in terror. She leaped onto the table and attempted to climb onto Shen Weiran.
Shen Weiran was being clawed at until he could barely breathe. He stiffly covered his ears, reached back to hold down the frantic woman in white, and raised his other hand to fire another shot at the landlady.
Xie Jingyan held He Yuput close, keeping a distance from the screeching woman in white. He drew his own gun and kept firing at the landlady as she crawled across the floor.
The landlady roared like a monster. Her deep red fingernails left gouges in the floor, and their sharpness was enough to peel a person’s skin off with ease.
Blood sprayed as the bullets hit her, and her speed slowed down, but she kept forcing herself toward them, gradually closing the distance.
Shen Weiran frowned as he looked at her. His intuition seemed to pick up on something. “This thing seems to have a weak point.”
Xie Jingyan paused with his gun raised, pondering for a moment. “A weak point? Shen Weiran, try shooting at the water stains on her clothes.”
Shen Weiran shot him a sidelong glance. “Why would I shoot at that?”
Despite his confusion, he fired three consecutive shots at the clothing on the landlady’s body.
The blue flames engulfed the bullets and grazed the clothing, vaporizing the water stains upon them. The landlady’s speed dropped significantly once again.
