A Guide to Divorce for Middle-Aged Lesbian Couples - Chapter 6
“So that’s how it is.” President Sun sat down with a look of displeasure, turning his spearhead toward the others at the table.
“Old Zhao, someone from Star Entertainment has to drink this glass from President Wu and me!”
President Wu glanced in Su Sixian’s direction, swirling the wine in his glass: “Opportunities like this are rare. I think Ms. Su should set an example for these juniors!”
President Sun gave a boozy belch, his lecherous eyes glued to Su Sixian: “Once you’re in this circle, you have to recognize your status. When someone gives you a pole, you’d better learn how to climb it!”
Su Sixian raised an eyebrow.
Fine, it seems the life background script I choreographed for myself was a bit too bottom-tier. The heiress mother transformed into a hardworking housewife overnight, and the CEO father was revamped into a suffering old accountant.
President Sun continued his relentless babbling: “I’m telling you, I don’t care what position you’ve climbed to in the entertainment industry. Without a background, you could fall off tomorrow!”
The private room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The group of juniors acted like quails, not daring to speak.
As the only one at the table who knew Su Sixian’s true identity, President Zhao frantically winked at Wang Dahua, but the signal was cut off halfway by Su Sixian.
“Fine!”
President Wu leaned back in his chair with a look of victory. Su Sixian took the red wine glass from his hand with a shallow smile.
“President Shen! Why did you come in person!” A sudden exclamation came from the doorway.
Everyone in the room heard it clearly and froze.
At that moment, Fu Yanmian suddenly stood up and snatched the glass from Su Sixian’s hand. Her small face was filled with an expression of stubbornness mixed with grievance: “I’ll drink this. Everyone, please don’t make things difficult for Sister Sixian.”
With that, she tilted her head back and drained it. She drank so fast that much of the crimson liquid spilled from the corners of her mouth, staining her collar and making her look even more piteous.
Fu Yanmian set the glass on the table, appearing thirty percent drunk: “Please enjoy yourselves, everyone. I’m going to the restroom.”
The timing was precise. As soon as the private room door was pushed open, Fu Yanmian stumbled and fell directly onto Shen Xingchuan, who was passing by the door and was clearly caught off guard.
Shen Xingchuan subconsciously used one hand to support the waist of the person in her arms. She looked up and locked eyes with Su Sixian inside the room.
Hiss— The sound of Wang Dahua sucking in cold air was exceptionally clear in the suddenly silent room.
Su Sixian picked up her teacup and took a slow sip. She felt the tea aroma fill her mouth, feeling as though she were standing in the middle of a vast, green prairie.
“Pre—President Shen.” President Wu stood up, his face pale.
Sunny and Cheerful Little Girl: “What’s happening? What’s happening?! Are they bickering again?! No way! After the scene is cut, shouldn’t it be a reunion of old friends, drinking and singing, and smiling away old grudges? Then, go home and roll around on the bed to fix everything?”
A Strange Flower: “Heh!”
Looking at the two people holding each other, everyone’s eyes were filled with unspeakable thoughts. Could what President Wu said be true? Is this newly manufactured Little White Lotus backed by President Shen?
“President Shen, I’m going to go get the food packed.” Bona grabbed the restaurant manager’s hand and, amidst Annie’s gritted-teeth smile, decisively fled the scene!
A Strange Flower: “Kid! A warm reminder: don’t go looking for trouble tonight. Your mom might skin you alive.”
Sunny and Cheerful Little Girl: “Nani!!!”
Thanks to the 24-filial daughter’s designed encounter intended to warm up the mothers’ feelings, Su Sixian was able to face the green energy impact head-on.
Although she always claimed the two were a family alliance, a lust-over-heart couple who were merely surface-level wives raising a brat together, seeing Shen Xingchuan’s hand on another woman’s waist caused a term to pop up involuntarily in her mind: Big Pig Trotter!
Shen Xingchuan seemed to read a hint of something wrong in the eyes of the Su Sixian she was staring at. In the next second, she shifted to holding the person’s arm to create distance, asking with a frown: “What’s going on?”
“President Shen.” The tone was lingering and hesitant, laced with a trace of grievance.
Shen Xingchuan recognized this face: Fu Yanmian. One of the spokespeople for the game “Immortal Bones.”
“Just now, President Wu and President Sun wanted to toast Sister Sixian, so I blocked a glass for her. I accidentally drank a bit too fast.” In the dimly lit hallway, the drunken beauty’s red lips were slightly parted, exuding a thousand scents.
But Shen Xingchuan didn’t stop to admire this White Lotus. Instead, she looked at Su Sixian, who was currently leaning back in her chair, observing the tea art performance with great interest. Regardless of Su Sixian’s weight in the industry, based solely on her identity as the heiress of Guoke Capital, who would dare to force-feed her alcohol?
Feeling that the focus of Shen Xingchuan’s gaze was not on her, Fu Yanmian, who was using Shen Xingchuan’s arm for leverage to stand steady, accidentally fell firmly into Shen Xingchuan’s arms once more. Even the red wine stains on her sleeves left quite a few marks on that custom-made shirt.
Su Sixian clicked her tongue. A perfectly good shirt, ruined.
Wang Dahua rolled her eyes and muttered: “Must be a fox, her feet are so slippery!”
Seeing the wine stains on her pristine white shirt, Shen Xingchuan frowned, her eyes reflecting a bit of pity for the garment.
“I’m sorry, President Shen, I dirtied your shirt.” Fu Yanmian subconsciously reached out to touch the crimson spot.
“It’s fine.” Shen Xingchuan grabbed her wrist. The butterfly cufflinks shimmered under the light.
These cufflinks! Fu Yanmian was shocked. The year Su Sixian gave out fan benefits, she was doing her graduation project. Naturally, she had followed the cufflinks that stayed on the Weibo trending list all day, their design elements analyzed by many designers.
She was close enough to see the serial number engraved on the whale post: “0.”
Clearly, this wasn’t one of the one hundred mass-produced items for the fan lottery, but the original one designed by Su Sixian.
Feeling a burning gaze, Shen Xingchuan quickly let go of her hand. She didn’t know why she had this subconscious reaction, instinctively avoiding Su Sixian’s gaze and putting on a business-like expression for Fu Yanmian.
“Ms. Fu is a spokesperson for Whisper. Your image is related to the image of our game.”
Shen Xingchuan looked at Annie, who was standing aside gossiping frantically. Annie hurried forward to peel Fu Yanmian off Shen Xingchuan.
The previously arrogant President Wu shrank his neck and lowered his head like a quail. He shot a quick glance at Fu Yanmian, his lips twitching, and said cautiously: “It was my mistake for drinking too much, Ms. Fu…”
Fu Yanmian held her forehead with one hand and said delicately: “President Wu just drank too much at the table. I’m fine, please don’t take it to heart.”
President Wu took the exit offered, bowing and nodding repeatedly: “Yes, yes, yes! It was my carelessness, I will definitely reflect on it!”
Splosh! Like watering a flower, crimson wine liquid was poured over the head of the man who was bowing and scraping.
With fingers like green scallions pinching the stem of the glass, Su Sixian tilted her head slightly. A cold sneer played at the corners of her mouth, and her eyes held a rare disdain of a high-status individual.
The angle was perfect. With a slight lowering of her eyelids, she could see the red liquid falling like silk down that shocked face.
“My wine isn’t something just anyone can drink.” Su Sixian lifted her eyelids slightly, her gaze sweeping over Shen Xingchuan and Fu Yanmian—intentionally or otherwise.
She pulled back the glass, which still had one sip of wine left, and walked with a lotus-like step to the side of the stunned President Sun.
“It’s not just anyone’s toast that I have to drink.”
President Sun swallowed unconsciously. For some reason, being stared at by this gaze made his skin crawl. He could even hear the faint drip-drop of the liquid falling onto the carpet.
“You! Do you believe I can make sure you never get a role again! You!”
But clearly, such a threat was as nothing to Su Sixian. Looking at the shallow layer of wine left at the bottom of the glass, she gave a light “tsk” and tilted her head back to drain the red wine.
“This glass is to return the favor to you two.”
The wine glass, stained with lipstick, was set on the table. Su Sixian left behind a wide-mouthed Wang Dahua, a group of dumbstruck heartthrobs and starlets, and a President Zhao whose soul had left his body.
She walked out of the private room with the stride of a queen, bestowing a “Sister is noble, you don’t deserve me” look upon the ignorant group at the door.
Shen Xingchuan took a step to the side and blocked Su Sixian’s path.
“President Shen, the food is… ready.” Bona arrived carrying beautifully wrapped takeout boxes, the smile on his face instantly freezing. He thought he had timed it perfectly to eat chicken, but he hadn’t expected to step into the final circle of a Battle Royale!
Wait! Why are there lipstick and wine marks on President Shen’s shirt! Why is our company’s spokesperson here! What is the meaning of the expression on the Madam’s face—the one that radiates cold indifference and slaughter? And Annie’s hesitant eyes! Could it be…
In an instant, an entire drama of catching an affair and splashing red wine played out in Bona’s mind.
The two stared at each other for several seconds. A sudden surge of sourness hit her nose, and Su Sixian’s nostrils flared slightly.
“What brilliant insight does President Shen have?”
“Things don’t ‘not happen’ just because of your personal reasons. Mr. Wu, please apologize to Ms. Su.”
President Wu wiped his face, endured the anger in his heart, and bowed to Su Sixian: “I have offended you, Ms. Su.”
Su Sixian didn’t look at him, she took a step to bypass Shen Xingchuan.
Snap! A light sound. Shen Xingchuan grabbed her hand. Both were shocked.
Probably not realizing why she had made this movement subconsciously, a flash of panic crossed Shen Xingchuan’s eyes.
“It was my subordinate’s fault first. Please allow me to send you home, Ms. Su, as a gesture of apology.”
“I think Ms. Fu might need your help more.”
Su Sixian moved her arm slightly and broke free from the restraint without much effort. Shen Xingchuan withdrew her hand awkwardly.
“Annie, please accompany Ms. Fu to the hospital first, then go home.”
“Okay, President Shen.” Annie fled the impending Asura field at light speed.
It was the peak of the evening rush hour, and the road was as clogged as a sausage.
In the car, Bona and Wang Dahua in the front row exchanged glances, giving a bitter smile of shared misery.
Thanks to the two refrigerators in the back seat, this year’s autumn seemed colder than previous years!
Upholding the principle of marital loyalty, Shen Xingchuan cleared her throat and spoke up: “I’ve seen the files; she is one of our company’s game spokespeople.”
Wang Dahua peeked at Shen Xingchuan through the rearview mirror. Ah! A CEO with a mouth! What a rare creature!
“They seem to have a bit of a misunderstanding regarding the relationship between her and me.”
Wang Dahua rolled her eyes to the heavens. President Shen! How about we just shut up!
Su Sixian sat with her arms crossed, a smile playing on her lips—looking like a beautiful snake that would bare its fangs in the next second, but was still enchanting everyone in this one.
“Yes. You have a simple employer-employee relationship, which occasionally extends into private after-hours time.”
Hmm? These words sounded strange in every possible way. Before Shen Xingchuan could think deeply, she saw a point of coldness in Su Sixian’s eyes.
“Then aren’t you afraid your invitation to me just now will cause unnecessary misunderstanding? After all, in the eyes of outsiders, we are no different from them.”
