A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 65
The car’s partition slowly rose, creating an independent, soundproof space in the back seat.
Worried that Gu Yuqi was uncomfortable, Luo Panzhi turned and pulled him into his arms, adjusting his position so he could lean back comfortably. Gu was four months pregnant now, and these past four months had been nothing short of an ordeal.
As it turned out, the standard pregnancy handbook wasn’t much use for Gu Yuqi—the man was simply too particular. His appetite changed daily; Luo Panzhi felt that if he weren’t so busy, he’d have gone out and earned certifications as both a chef and a pastry artist.
“Baby, every time I hold you, I feel like you’re getting thinner. You just threw up this morning and haven’t eaten a thing since. Are you really not hungry?” Luo Panzhi lowered his head and pinched Gu Yuqi’s cheek as the lawyer rested against his shoulder with his eyes closed. It broke Luo’s heart. “Your face has leaned out so much.”
His gaze drifted downward to Gu Yuqi’s abdomen, slightly protruding beneath his suit. The only thing gaining weight was this little belly.
“I’m not hungry, just a bit sleepy.” Gu Yuqi felt his clothes were becoming too restrictive. He sat up. “It’s a bit tight. I want to take the jacket off; I don’t want to wear a suit anymore.”
He shed the blazer to reveal the shirt underneath. Tucked into his trousers, the fabric outlined a waist that was still slender and firm, save for the distinct curve of his lower abdomen.
At four months, it was becoming impossible to hide.
“The belly looks a circle larger again. You shouldn’t wear formal clothes to work anymore if it’s uncomfortable.” Luo Panzhi took the discarded jacket, spread it out, and draped it over Gu like a blanket. He pulled him back into an embrace, resting his palm over the slight swell of Gu’s stomach.
Suddenly, something beneath his palm gave two distinct, tiny thumps.
Luo Panzhi froze. Recognizing the sensation instantly, an irrepressible surge of excitement welled up from his heart. Those two little kicks made his own heart tremble. He turned his head to find Gu Yuqi already looking at him.
Gu Yuqi had been startled too, but he wasn’t entirely sure. He looked at Luo Panzhi. “Did you feel that? Movement?”
“Mhm.” Luo Panzhi’s voice shook with emotion. He held Gu tighter, his eyes brimming with tears. “Waaaaah… my little Omega princess moved! I’m so moved. She definitely wants to come out and wear the little dresses her Daddy bought for her…”
Gu Yuqi: “…” He really can’t go ten sentences without mentioning a ‘little Omega princess.’
Thinking of the newly decorated nursery in their new home—a room so flamboyant even Gu couldn’t bear to look at it—he feared the child might actually cry upon seeing it.
If they ended up having an Alpha or a Beta, considering the walk-in closet was already stocked like a department store, the poor child would probably have to grit their teeth and wear those clothes until primary school.
He had no idea where Luo Panzhi got the absolute certainty that the baby would be an Omega—and a girl, at that.
“Do you want to go buy more dresses after the check-up?” Luo Panzhi asked, recovering from his emotional moment. “I want to see the new arrivals.”
After careful deliberation, Gu Yuqi suggested: “Let’s buy a few sets of shirts and trousers.”
“Why?” Luo Panzhi looked as if the very concept of trousers shouldn’t exist. “My Omega cub doesn’t need those.”
“They need them.” Gu Yuqi felt it was best to have a backup plan. “You’ve bought so many dresses; surely the closet can fit a few outfits I buy for the child?”
In truth, he didn’t know if they would fit. He hadn’t spent much time at the new house; Luo Panzhi had handled everything. Gu had only visited once after the renovations, and after seeing the “over-the-top” nature of the nursery, he hadn’t dared to look twice—it was dizzying.
He had no idea that Young Master Luo had already filled the nursery’s walk-in closet with limited-edition dresses and leather shoes for every age bracket, from hair accessories down to socks. He was fully prepared to be a doting father.
Luo Panzhi looked serious, as if calculating the remaining space. Just yesterday, he had added a dozen dresses sized for a 130cm height. “Hmm… I should be able to squeeze them in.”
Gu Yuqi gave him a suspicious look. “Squeeze them in? Have you filled that entire wall of wardrobes in the nursery?” He couldn’t imagine a child’s wardrobe taking up nearly fifty square meters before the child was even born.
Luo Panzhi didn’t see the problem. “When I was little, my dad dressed me and my brother up like that too. I knew how to pick my own outfits by the age of three. If the closet isn’t full, how can you choose? Aesthetic taste should be cultivated from childhood. It’s fine. If the baby really is an Omega, I plan to give the entire second floor to her. The current closet definitely won’t be enough.”
“And if it’s not an Omega?”
“There is no ‘if’!” Luo Panzhi was fiercely resistant to the idea. He buried his face in the crook of Gu Yuqi’s neck and gave the faint scent of the gland a little nip. “I want my little princess!”
An Alpha’s gland is almost invisible; one usually has to follow the scent to find it. But on the back of Gu Yuqi’s neck was an Omega gland that hadn’t fully regressed. Though it was closed and now emitted Alpha pheromones, it remained an addiction Luo Panzhi couldn’t resist.
An Alpha’s instinct constantly drove him to try and leave his mark there. Even though no matter how hard he bit, he couldn’t actually inject Alpha pheromones into a closed gland.
They were both Alphas. What bound them wasn’t a glandular mark, but the “thorough marking” hidden deep within their blood and bodies.
The bite left Gu Yuqi feeling weak and tingly. Though the Omega gland was closed, it was still a highly sensitive spot. Furthermore, the doctor had mentioned that kissing the gland could help boost estrogen levels.
Speaking of which, they had both been holding back for three months.
“Panpan, can we…” Gu Yuqi’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He looked up at Luo Panzhi, his eyes behind his glasses shimmering with long-suppressed emotion. “It’s been four months now. Is it okay?”
His voice was tentative, but his eyes were filled with a restrained fire.
Luo Panzhi immediately understood. “We’ll ask the doctor in a bit.”
“And if the doctor says yes?” Gu Yuqi tilted his head and asked again.
Luo Panzhi’s heart itched at the sight. He leaned down to kiss him. “Then we can do it today.”
It was the weekend. They had time.
The car arrived smoothly at Galaxy Hospital. The check-up results showed the baby was healthy and developing well in all aspects. However, the doctor did have words for Gu Yuqi.
“Have you lost weight again? How is the morning sickness? Are you eating regularly? How is your appetite?” Dr. Zhang looked at Gu Yuqi, noting he seemed thinner than the last visit, and frowned.
At this, Luo Panzhi looked equally troubled. Even corporate crises didn’t seem this difficult. “Dr. Zhang, his appetite changes every day. He vomits as soon as he eats, then refuses to eat again. I’ve tried making the meals as elaborate as possible, but he just throws them up. How can he not lose weight?”
Under the table, Gu Yuqi pressed down on Luo Panzhi’s hand and gave him a sideways glance. It was a clear warning: Stop tattling.
Luo Panzhi flipped his hand over to catch Gu’s, pinning it to his own thigh, and continued honestly: “He still vomits every day—morning, noon, and after dinner. Sometimes just seeing something he doesn’t like triggers it. It’s slightly better than before, but it’s still a headache.”
“Appetite during pregnancy can be very volatile; it does require close attention. How is the exercise?” Dr. Zhang asked while taking notes.
“I used to have a habit of working out every morning, which gave me a good appetite for the rest of the day. But since the pregnancy, I’ve done less. Aside from the movement of a nine-to-six job and the occasional walk, I haven’t done much else.” Gu Yuqi glanced at Luo Panzhi again.
If this man hadn’t forbidden him from going out late at night, he would still be playing bowling with Qi Lin. It had been a long time since he’d been to a bar or a bowling alley.
Luo Panzhi, clutching his “treasure” tote bag, felt the grievance of a worried father. “You’re pregnant; how could I let you go for morning runs? I’m just worried about you. Walking is exercise too!”
“Dr. Zhang, can I play bowling?” Gu Yuqi asked.
Luo Panzhi’s expression instantly darkened. “Gu Yuqi, that’s enough! Bowling?! No, absolutely not. It’s too dangerous. What if you lose your footing and fall?” Just thinking about it made him break into a cold sweat. How could such a sport be suitable for a pregnant man?
“What about billiards?” Gu Yuqi asked again.
Luo Panzhi’s brows knitted tightly. “Definitely not! What if you bump your stomach! No way!”
Gu Yuqi turned helplessly to the doctor. “So, is it really forbidden?”
Luo Panzhi stared intensely at Dr. Zhang.
The doctor found the situation rather amusing and coughed to hide a smile. “Exercise in moderation is fine. Bowling and billiards are actually okay. A pregnant person’s physical fitness affects their state in the later stages of pregnancy; appropriate exercise is good for both physical and mental well-being.”
Gu Yuqi patted Luo Panzhi’s thigh. “Did you hear that?”
Luo Panzhi: “…” He wanted nothing more than to tuck Gu Yuqi safely into his pocket. Bowling? Billiards? It wasn’t the balls being knocked around; it was his own nervous heart.
He wanted to cry. How could this be? Being pregnant was scary enough, and now he wanted to play ball games!
“Dr. Zhang… is sex allowed?”
Luo Panzhi snapped his head toward Gu Yuqi, his eyes full of disbelief. He couldn’t believe Gu had asked so bluntly; even he would have been too embarrassed to ask.
Dr. Zhang smiled and nodded. “At four months, it’s fine. Just don’t be too frequent. Be gentle. Once a week shouldn’t be a problem. You must check your physical condition before proceeding; if there is any discomfort, you must stop. It should be done in a state of physical and mental relaxation. This can actually help increase your pheromone concentration, so yes, it is allowed.”
Gu Yuqi squeezed Luo Panzhi’s palm. “Great. Thank you, Dr. Zhang. We’ll be going now. See you next time.”
“Mhm, see you next time.”
It was midday when they left the hospital. The November air had turned cold. Due to the pregnancy, Gu’s body had become more sensitive to the chill. As he stepped out, he felt a sharp shiver.
Just as he was about to mention the cold, a jacket was draped over his shoulders. The faint scent of Oolong Osmanthus Honey pheromones wafted past his nose. He looked at Luo Panzhi.
Luo Panzhi was now wearing only a white T-shirt under his open suit vest. In the chilly weather, he seemed completely unfazed by the cold, his sturdy arms exposed as he took Gu’s cool hand in his own. “I told you not to take your clothes off. Now you’re cold, aren’t you?”
His tone was stern, yet he tenderly warmed Gu’s hand.
His hand was indeed very warm—almost hot to the touch.
Gu Yuqi’s gaze followed the silhouette of Luo Panzhi’s face down to his muscular arms. The evidence of regular training gave his physique a powerful, hormone-heavy allure. While Gu hadn’t been working out lately, Luo Panzhi certainly had.
Gu would often sit nearby and watch Luo Panzhi box or do other exercises, idly taking in every inch of the man with his eyes. During the hot summer of the early pregnancy, Luo would sweat profusely while boxing, the droplets tracing the lines of his muscles. Though the sweat fell to the floor, it dripped with a raw sexiness straight into Gu’s heart.
Did he crave Luo Panzhi? Yes. It had been four months; did he want him? He wanted him very much.
“It is a bit cold,” Gu Yuqi said with a low laugh. “So, let’s do something to get warm?”
Luo Panzhi caught the look in Gu’s eyes, and it made his heart race. His Adam’s apple bobbed. Before he could respond, he felt the hand he was holding give a little tug.
“Just be gentle, okay?” Gu Yuqi tilted his head and leaned in, his eyes curving into a smile.
“Then don’t you dare cry later.”
Luo Panzhi’s lips quirked into a smirk. He was completely defenseless against Gu Yuqi’s flirting—especially this kind.
In the foyer, the two of them swallowed each other’s breaths, finally coloring the bright daylight with a hazy, chaotic desire.
When it was over, they lay tangled together on a bed that was a complete mess.
Luo Panzhi looked down at Gu Yuqi, who was resting in the crook of his arm. Gu’s eyes were still rimmed with red, radiating the deep satisfaction of a full meal. Luo pressed a kiss to the corner of his eye. “Does anything hurt?”
Hearing him speak, Gu Yuqi lazily lifted his eyelids. “No. I just feel like it wasn’t enough. Let’s go again.”
Luo Panzhi was helpless. “We can’t do it again.”
“…” Gu Yuqi closed his eyes in dissatisfaction and turned his back, burying his face in Luo’s arm to ignore him.
Luo Panzhi looked at the back of Gu’s neck and couldn’t resist kissing the faint gland. “Once the baby is born, we can go for as long as you want. But not now.” He rested his hand on Gu’s pregnant belly, offering a soothing caress.
After a long silence, Gu Yuqi finally spoke.
“You said it—as long as I want.” Gu Yuqi turned back to face him, his eyes lifting to meet Luo’s. “Please make sure you train well. When the baby is born, you’d better satisfy me. If you stop first, I’ll look down on you.”
Luo Panzhi looked at Gu’s tear-reddened eyes and heard that haughty, superior tone. He chuckled and pinched Gu’s chin. “Wait until you can actually handle it before you talk big.”
He wasn’t sure who it was that had been crying so hard just a moment ago.
This man was truly, lethally sexy.
