A Fatal Attraction from Lawyer A - Chapter 18
“Did I say something wrong?”
Luo Pan Zhi stood outside the pantry, watching Gu Yu Xi pour the coffee from his cup down the sink. He could tell by the angry motion: “Why so angry? You’re even pouring out the coffee, that’s such a waste. If you don’t want it, I’ll drink it.”
Gu Yu Xi turned on the tap and washed the cup thoroughly, especially the spot where Luo Pan Zhi had drunk from, scrubbing it repeatedly.
“So, you’re planning to ignore me?” Luo Pan Zhi asked again.
Gu Yu Xi turned off the tap and leaned his hands on the edges of the sink. Hearing Luo Pan Zhi’s words, he glanced sideways at him, his expression indifferent: “I admit that your pheromones have a huge attraction for me. I like your pheromones.”
Luo Pan Zhi understood the underlying meaning. He folded his arms and leaned against the doorframe: “What, you want to say you only like my pheromones, not me as a person?”
This person is so wicked! He flirts and then runs off without taking responsibility.
“I was out of line before. I won’t be again. You are still my superior,” Gu Yu Xi said, holding the cleaned cup, wanting to leave the pantry. However, Luo Pan Zhi, who was standing in the doorway, showed no sign of moving. Gu Yu Xi looked at him.
He expected to see Luo Pan Zhi’s face clouded with anger, but he didn’t.
Then why is he blocking me?
And why is he staring at me?
“Trying to leave?” Luo Pan Zhi asked with a half-smile.
Gu Yu Xi: “Yes, I’d appreciate it if Little CEO Luo would move aside.”
“Going to Ruixing Hospital?” Luo Pan Zhi asked again.
Gu Yu Xi shot him another look, only to meet the teasing look in Luo Pan Zhi’s eyes. He subtly looked away: “Yes, for a negotiation.”
“Need me to accompany you?”
Gu Yu Xi frowned, as if surprised by Luo Pan Zhi’s question. He shook his head gently: “No, I can go alone.”
“Let’s go then.” Luo Pan Zhi put the cup in Gu Yu Xi’s hand back into the pantry: “I’ll be your driver.”
Gu Yu Xi: “?” I said all that, and he still wants to get closer?
Facing Luo Pan Zhi’s blazing, sun-like smile, a clear thought flashed through his mind for a moment: This guy is doing this on purpose. His hand, hanging at his side, clenched slightly. He had just managed to convince himself to quit the source of his addiction.
It was so hard.
In the Maybach
The black Maybach silently merged into the traffic, an inconspicuous attention-grabber on the road.
Luo Pan Zhi glanced at Gu Yu Xi in the passenger seat, who remained silent. When he didn’t talk or smile, he was truly too cold to approach, but his face was so pleasant to look at that it was enough to ignore everything else.
He didn’t understand what this person was thinking. How could he act one way in front of others and another when alone? Which version was the real Gu Yu Xi? Also, if he liked him, he liked him; if he didn’t, he didn’t. Why did he like him at first and then force himself not to later?
Where did things go wrong between daring to flirt with him and now being too scared to flirt?
Why did he use a nonexistent boyfriend to brush him off?
Didn’t he say he liked his pheromones?
“Little CEO Luo, focus on driving.”
A clear, cold voice sounded in his ear. Luo Pan Zhi smiled, turning the steering wheel: “I am being very serious. How did Attorney Gu know I wasn’t being serious? Was he watching me the whole time?”
“…” Gu Yu Xi was instantly speechless. He turned his face to look out the window, quietly taking a deep breath to relieve the pressure of the Alpha pheromones captured in the small space, restlessly rubbing his suit trousers with his fingertips.
“Attorney Gu, how long have you been with your boyfriend?” Luo Pan Zhi withdrew his gaze from Gu Yu Xi’s fingers, pretending to make casual conversation.
“Three years.”
Luo Pan Zhi raised an eyebrow: “Oh? That’s quite a while. Then ‘breaking up’ must be quite difficult, right?”
Gu Yu Xi didn’t know why this person kept bringing up the boyfriend issue, but since he was his superior, he could only “truthfully” reply: “Yes, we won’t break up.”
“Are you sure?” Luo Pan Zhi asked with a half-smile.
Gu Yu Xi stared at his reflection in the car window.
Luo Pan Zhi’s hands on the steering wheel were distinctly jointed, and the sleeves were half-rolled up, revealing his smooth, muscular arm. But he didn’t dare to look up further, because he clearly felt that burning gaze on him, as if it was subtly igniting his dormant addiction. His heart rate uncontrollably quickened—a response that completely contradicted his answer.
“I’m sure.”
I’m not sure.
He slowly closed his eyes, forcing himself to look away, giving up his habit of seeking comfort through observation.
Luo Pan Zhi’s peripheral vision took in Gu Yu Xi’s tense jawline. He gently tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, pleased, the corners of his lips slightly curved. Such a flawed lie. What method should he use to pierce this man’s proud self-esteem?
It doesn’t matter, he had all the patience in the world.
The Closeness
Ruixing Hospital—
The car slowly stopped in front of the hospital.
“Thank you, Little CEO Luo. I can go back by myself later,” Gu Yu Xi unbuckled his seatbelt. The space in the car was too small; he couldn’t stay with Luo Pan Zhi any longer, or he would be stained with the scent of Oolong Brandy.
He would have to wash for a long time tonight.
Just as he was about to open the door and get out, his arm was suddenly grabbed by Luo Pan Zhi. His lower back instantly stiffened, and he turned his head.
“I’ll wait here for you,” Luo Pan Zhi said, looking directly at him. “Don’t even think about running off.”
The hand gripping his arm wasn’t forceful, and the tone was moderate.
Gu Yu Xi stared directly into Luo Pan Zhi’s deep, profound eyes. They were like a vortex, wanting to drown his thoughts in Luo Pan Zhi’s gaze, making it impossible for him to escape the intensity of that look.
The space inside the Maybach was actually quite spacious, but when Luo Pan Zhi sat in the driver’s seat, his height and dominant presence forcefully filled the space with a sense of oppression, which also completely enveloped Gu Yu Xi.
This was the first time he had felt the oppression of Luo Pan Zhi’s Alpha pheromones.
What would happen if he hadn’t injected Luo Pan Zhi’s pheromone inhibitor?
Being warned by such an Alpha pheromone would probably feel painful all over, wouldn’t it?
Seeing the man dazed, Luo Pan Zhi’s gaze fell on Gu Yu Xi’s collar, which was slightly messy. He reached over to smooth it down, and at the same time repeated: “Did you hear me? I’m waiting here for you.”
“Oh.” Gu Yu Xi wanted to dodge, but his body was uncontrollable. He remained seated, allowing Luo Pan Zhi’s hand to adjust his collar.
Luo Pan Zhi found the man’s reaction somewhat amusing and laughed aloud: “What do you mean, ‘oh’? I asked if you heard me. Answer me.”
Gu Yu Xi looked at him speechlessly, but constrained by the fact that this was his superior and the son of the company’s owner, he replied faintly:
“I heard you.”
He turned his face away, only to have Luo Pan Zhi clamp his chin, forcibly turning his head back to face him. Gu Yu Xi frowned in annoyance.
“I’ve noticed you have quite a temper,” Luo Pan Zhi said, meeting Gu Yu Xi’s angry, defiant gaze. He seemed to have discovered a new side to the man. The hand holding his chin wasn’t too forceful: “And you respond better to force than to gentleness. Do you still remember I’m your superior?”
Gu Yu Xi felt his anger rising from his chest. He pursed his lips, suppressing the irritation of Luo Pan Zhi touching him: “My appointment time is coming up. I need to go to work.”
“Tsk.” Luo Pan Zhi finally let go. As he released him, he glanced at the slightly red spot on the chin. He bruises so easily. “Such a prude.”
Gu Yu Xi: “…” If he weren’t the son of Chairman Luo and my superior, I definitely wouldn’t hold back from punching him.
That mouth really doesn’t mince words.
The car door slammed shut with a “bang,” carrying a clear sense of retaliation.
Luo Pan Zhi rested his arm on the window frame, watching Gu Yu Xi’s retreating figure as he entered the hospital. He seemed immensely satisfied, laughing softly to himself until the man disappeared from sight. His expression then returned to indifference as he pulled out his phone to make a call.
The call was quickly answered.
“Try your best not to be discovered by him. And don’t you two dare lose him. If anything happens to him—”
The bodyguard on the other end didn’t wait for Luo Pan Zhi to finish, immediately replying: “Don’t worry, Little CEO Luo. We’re perfectly hidden. We absolutely will not let Attorney Gu spot us, and we will definitely protect him. Not a single hair on his head will be harmed.”
Luo Pan Zhi “Mm-hmm’d” and hung up the phone. He placed the phone aside, pulled out his tablet, and started working.
It didn’t matter where he worked; he felt much safer being here.
He didn’t want any ‘what ifs’ to happen.
Just as he lowered his head, he was completely unaware that a green-clad figure in a wheelchair was pushing past his car and following in Gu Yu Xi’s direction.
