- Chapter 40 - The Beautiful Player is an Egoist (Part 3) — Aletta...
No one knew of the tragic case that had occurred within Miss Aletta’s room. That wretched corpse had been dragged to an unknown location along with its scattered limbs, leaving behind only a floor covered in blood.
On the large bed, Li Rangnian was still in the world of dreams. His sleeping face was serene and beautiful, his hands crossed properly over his abdomen. The soft silk quilt was so light it had almost no weight, covering him like a cloud.
The windows were tightly closed, and there was no breeze in the room, yet the pure white bed curtains swayed without cause, casting shifting shadows.
“Miss Gleipnir…”
Vaguely, a soft call reached his ears. Li Rangnian opened his eyes in a half-asleep state, his brain muddled. He sat up on the bed unconsciously.
Outside the window, the bright white moonlight poured through the louvers onto the floor, cut into countless diamond-shaped pieces. The areas not illuminated were hidden in darkness.
He constantly felt as though he had forgotten something, but that low call rang out again. it sounded very close, as if right outside the door, like a Siren’s song luring him forward.
The little ball of light, which was in a dormant state, remained perched at the head of the bed. The person who had been lying there had already gotten up noiselessly, stepping barefoot onto the floor. The cold air rushed straight to his soles, causing his round, pale pink toes to curl slightly in surprise.
He wore a pale pink dress with no extra accessories, yet it perfectly showcased the beauty’s natural charm. The collar was open, clearly revealing his exquisite collarbones, and the two thin straps were loose almost unable to hold revealing his rounded shoulders.
With a slight lean forward, the neckline opened further; his chest was empty, the scenery fully exposed, and the “strawberry tips” on the “little cake” were clearly visible.
The fabric used for the dress was top-tier, with a milk-smooth touch, and it completely failed to hide the beauty’s graceful figure. The fabric was translucent; the larger the movement, the more the spring scenery was exposed, giving off a sense of shy charm that seemed to refuse yet welcome.
With every step the beauty took, the hem of the dress which reached his calves swayed slightly, like ripples on the surface of a lake.
That voice was like bait, neither far nor near, attracting the beauty to open the door, pass through the silent, empty hallway, step onto the stairs covered in soft carpet, and descend step by step.
No, don’t go down… The last shred of reason in his mind was warning him. His chest suddenly felt a pang of palpitations, and tiny goosebumps appeared on his arms. Contrary to this, his footsteps did not stop at all.
From the third floor to the second, time seemed to pass as slowly as a century. The beauty suddenly stopped by the railing, leaning over to look down—
In the middle of the living room stood a very handsome man. His brow ridges were upright and his nose was high, making his features appear exceptionally three-dimensional. His phoenix eyes were full of deep affection, and his thick eyelashes cast a fan-shaped shadow over his eyelids.
Contrasting with his fair face was a well-built physique; his well-trained upper body filled the well-tailored tuxedo without a single wrinkle. His chest muscles were full, his posture was upright, and his black suit trousers made his legs appear even longer.
The micro-parted fringe added a touch of casual freedom to the man’s overly handsome face. His thin lips were slightly curved, and the corners of his eyes tilted upward, giving him a somewhat wicked look. A rose was tucked into his breast pocket.
He looked up without surprise, his gaze meeting the beauty upstairs from a distance, and the curve of his lips hooked upward: “Good night, Miss Gleipnir. It is truly presumptuous of me to visit in the middle of the night.”
Upon seeing him, Li Rangnian’s heart suddenly grew steady, as if the dust had settled.
His jade feet stepped down the final stair, and he finally came before the man, pursing his cherry-red lips, his voice curious: “Good night, Sir. May I ask… do I know you?”
Clearly, the manor did not have this person. If he remembered correctly, there were only ten players and… wait, ten what?
His memory was a mess. Amidst the confusion, the man had already closed the distance. His breath sprayed onto the top of the beauty’s head, and the rose at his chest happened to graze Li Rangnian’s lips lightly: “Do not think of other things, Miss. Just follow me.”
A wave of warmth covered his lower back, it was the man’s large palm cinching his slender waist. With a slight surge of force, the beauty crashed into his full chest and abdominal muscles, fitting perfectly.
They were too close; each other’s breathing was clear, and even the tiny fuzz on their faces could be seen. The man only needed to lower his head slightly to pluck this vivid rose.
The beauty’s thick, raven-feather eyelashes trembled slightly, as if he were very uncomfortable: “Sir, what do you want to do?”
“Miss Gleipnir, allow me to lead you in a dance.” The dry, warm palm slid in, interlocking fingers with the beauty’s hand pressed against his thigh. The man took a step back, his smile bright: “Follow me closely.”
Li Rangnian had never learned to dance. He followed the steps clumsily and frantically, his free hand hurriedly clutching the man’s broad shoulders and back as he danced along with the other’s movements.
The living room was brightly lit, and a faint scent of roses floated in the air. The perfect couple was as intimate as a pair of entwined mandarin ducks. The man raised his hand, his downward gaze fixed on the beauty spinning before him, the hem of the dress swaying leisurely like a blooming flower.
Just as Li Rangnian finished a spin, he felt dizzy. He stumbled into the man’s embrace and was immediately swept up by the waist, letting out a cry of surprise: “Sir!”
The petite beauty shrank into the man’s arms, his white fingertips tightly clutching the man’s hem. His eyes were full of panic, yet he could not move; he could only watch helplessly as he was placed onto the soft sofa.
“Call me Yue Zhihan, dear. It is a pleasure to meet you.”
The man unhurriedly unbuttoned his shirt, revealing firm, hard abdominal muscles stacked in blocks, with the mermaid line (V-line) sliding smoothly from the abdomen, it was obvious he had trained meticulously. Simultaneously, he leaned in, one hand reaching for the beauty’s ankle.
“…” The hem of the dress was lifted at some point, layered like a flower bud about to bloom. The large palm patrolled the territory recklessly; wherever it went, bright red, prominent marks appeared.
His skin was exposed to the slightly cold air, and the beauty couldn’t help but shrink back.
The cold-white skin looked as if it were about to melt, glowing with a honey-like luster under the light. The “little cake” was sweet and delicious, looking very appetizing.
Li Rangnian’s brain resisted the scalp-numbing pleasure, yet his body still trembled uncontrollably, giving the man a satisfying response.
On the “snow,” one vivid red plum blossom after another bloomed. The sweet “little cake” was almost melted by the high temperature, as soft and sweet as ice cream. His voice was also sweet and syrupy, like thick porridge; from time to time, he let out soft, limp whimpers, like a cat acting spoiled.
A pitch-black shadow spread from beneath the sofa, crawling upward to entwine around his delicate ankles. Li Rangnian felt his calves were very itchy, but he was lost in the man’s reckless movements and temporarily could not spare the effort to check.
“Behave yourself and get down.” The man narrowed his eyes, admiring the beauty’s seductive, red-rimmed expression. Without even looking down, he issued a soft scolding.
The shadow rubbed against him a few times in dissatisfaction, and the delicate skin soon turned red. Under the man’s pressure, it retreated noiselessly once more.
The beauty half-closed his eyes, his hands loosely clutching as he rose and fell in this sea of desire created by the man. After an unknown amount of time, he finally fell into a deep sleep.
Knock, knock, knock—
What woke the beauty was the urgent knocking on the door. His long hair was messy, and his eyes were so tired he could barely keep them open. He rubbed his eyes as he climbed up to open the door: “Mmph, who is it?”
Outside stood the cold-faced Protagonist Bottom. Upon meeting his gaze, the man’s expression turned gentle in an instant, and he immediately sheathed his long blade: “My apologies for waking you. Did you see…”
“See what?” Li Rangnian cleared his head slightly, lowered his arm, and looked up at the man. His gaze was soft and helpless, very much like a startled small animal.
No, better not say it and scare the beauty. Bai Jin thought to himself. He changed the subject: “Nothing. I was worried you couldn’t sleep being new here, so I came to see you.”
As he finished, the beauty’s cheeks turned red at a visible rate. He lowered his gaze, his voice as soft as a mosquito’s hum: “Is that so? Thank you, Bai Jin.”
“You…” Bai Jin only then realized how ambiguous his words were. His gaze, which he had deliberately averted, also uncontrollably fell on the other person.
Having just gotten out of bed, his long hair was messily draped behind him. He raised a pure and beautiful face, the blue gemstone and his eyes equally bright, looking exceptionally adorable.
White teeth bit down on his lower lip, seeping a vivid blood-red color. He had opened the door for a stranger without any defense. The dress was wrinkled, and the top hung loosely, completely failing to hide the enchanting scenery at his chest.
But precisely because of this, the string of red marks on the snowy skin appeared particularly eye-searing, extending from the snow-white neck all the way deep into the collar. One didn’t even need to think to know the inside was surely “played through.”
Bai Jin was shocked by just one glance. Just as his gaze moved away, he couldn’t help but shift it back, scanning obscurely.
What did the other person do to be played with until his body was covered in marks?
“Did you… cough, sleep well tonight?” He spoke, only to find his voice was dry, and he let out an affected cough.
Hearing him speak, Li Rangnian soon noticed something was wrong. His body felt sticky, as if someone had secretly “eaten” him. His limbs were soft and weak; just standing at the door was an ordeal.
Especially in certain places, there was a mysterious itch, and his collarbones were also red. His skin was pressed tight against the fabric; a slight rub during movement sent a wave of numbness from his soles straight to his skull.
This feeling was too, too strange. Could it be that I had a wet dream tonight? Li Rangnian blushed and secretly pressed his legs together. His tongue poked out unconsciously, quickly licking the corner of his lips: “Hmm, I slept very well. And you?”
“I didn’t sleep well.” The man, who hadn’t closed his eyes at all, was quite serious as he lied: “I’m unfamiliar with the bed, and I’m afraid of the dark.”
“Ah, then what will you do tonight? Not sleeping is bad for your health.” Li Rangnian believed him, looking at him with pure eyes.
Bai Jin’s gaze drifted, but his voice was firm: “So I came to ask you, can I sleep with you?”
Fearing the beauty might refuse, he immediately added, “My sleeping posture is very proper; I won’t steal your space. Don’t worry, I just want someone to accompany me so I can fall asleep. I won’t do anything to you.”
Li Rangnian subconsciously looked back at the little ball of light still snoring on the pillow and made up his mind: “Alright. I’ll sleep with you. Come in.”
He made way and turned to enter, completely failing to notice the obscure expression on the man’s face. He greeted him warmly, “Come on, get on the bed.”
Bai Jin swallowed. He closed the door behind him and followed step by step with an uneasy heart.
He saw the beauty burrow into the covers like a cat, only poking out a fluffy head to look at him, his voice soft: “Don’t just stand there, hurry in.”
“…Alright.” Bai Jin heard his own dry voice. His limbs moved toward the bed uncontrollably. He lifted the bed curtain and sat at the head of the bed: “I’m in.”
They were too close. A slight turn would press him against the beauty’s thin shoulders and firm hips. The bed was warm, and the other’s misty body fragrance drifted into his nose in a rush. The body temperature was continuously transferred. The man felt dizzy instantly; he closed his eyes and dared not think more, fearing he wouldn’t be able to restrain himself.
The Protagonist Bottom was very hot, and sleeping next to him was particularly warm, like a small furnace. Li Rangnian slept very comfortably. When he woke up the next day, the discomfort had vanished, and he was full of energy.
However, the man was hugging him too tightly; he was almost unable to breathe.
The face of the sleeping man was also handsome, the brows were sharp, yet the corners of the mouth were always turned up, adding a touch of gentleness. Li Rangnian grew curious; his finger gently touched that unchanging curve. In the next second, he met the man’s deep gaze.
“…” Li Rangnian was rarely embarrassed. “Good morning, Bai Jin. You must have slept well last night?”
Their current posture was very intimate. The man was hugging his waist and pressing him into his arms. The beauty’s chin was resting in the man’s neck crook; when he spoke, his lips lightly grazed the skin, causing a slight itch.
While speaking, Li Rangnian moved, trying to crawl out of the Protagonist Bottom’s arms, but his waist was pinched, and a large palm slapped his right hip: “Don’t move.”
Bai Jin had just woken up, his voice hoarse and his narrowed eyes looking somewhat dangerous. He kissed the person in his arms and laughed softly, “Thank you, A-Nian. I slept very well.”
“No… no need for thanks…” Feeling the burning temperature on his lower back, Li Rangnian answered stutteringly, a crimson flush spreading across his earlobes.
God, this much… is this really what a Protagonist Bottom should have?
“But I’m not doing well again.” Perhaps his brain wasn’t yet clear; Bai Jin spoke recklessly, and his actions were the same. He lowered his head and blew a breath into the delicate earlobe, watching with satisfaction as it gradually turned red: “A-Nian, can I borrow your… legs for a moment?”
“What…!” Before Li Rangnian could react, a familiar response had already dragged him into the abyss of desire. Tears soaked his delicate skin, painting a stroke of cinnabar at the corner of his eye.
A long time later, the beauty was carried to the bathroom to wash up by the satiated man. Looking at himself in the mirror, obviously having been bullied. Li Rangnian was both ashamed and furious: “Bai Jin, you!”
“I was wrong, A-Nian. Forgive me.” The neatly dressed man smiled virtuously. “This is a normal thing. We’re men, it’s normal to help each other out, right?”
Is that so… Li Rangnian looked at his sincere face, nodded half-believingly, and obediently took the mouthwash cup.
Bai Jin felt the “warm fragrance and soft jade” in his arms. For the first time in his life, he discovered he was actually a hypocrite.
Downstairs, the Butler rang the bell, reminding the guests it was time to come down for a meal.
Players arrived at the dining room one after another. The table was filled with a sumptuous breakfast as before, but this time, there was an empty seat.
“Why didn’t someone come?”
“Who is that person? Does any of you know them?”
The crowd whispered. But constrained by the Butler’s presence, they dared not say much, enjoying their breakfast quietly.
Seeing the guests were about to finish their meal, the Butler asked with a smile: “Honored guests, how did you sleep last night?”
The players naturally said they slept well. The Butler’s gaze swept over everyone, and he nodded with satisfaction. “If there is any lack of hospitality, please point it out. Now, guests may move about freely.”
As soon as he finished speaking, several players hurried upstairs.
The breakfast was the same food, and the portions were too. Li Rangnian ate slowly and refinedly, his cheeks puffing out as he looked like a little hamster.
Bai Jin watched him eat from his seat. Seeing the food on the plate decrease bit by bit, a mysterious sense of satisfaction rose in his heart: “Shall we go take a look together?”
“Alright.” Li Rangnian wiped the corner of his mouth and nodded.
Following this, a cry of surprise came from upstairs. Bai Jin realized something was wrong, grabbed the beauty’s hand, and walked up quickly. Before entering the door, a heavy scent of blood hit them.
Several players stood by the door, peeking into the room with terrified expressions.
“A-Nian, you wait outside. Don’t go in.” Bai Jin frowned, instructed the beauty, and entered the room alone.
Unexpectedly, there was no corpse in the room only large, large areas of spray-patterned blood covering the floor and walls. A long trail of blood extended to the window, leaving a few drops on the sill before disappearing.
The air was full of sickening blood scent. Judging by the bloodstains, they weren’t fresh; it must have happened last night. Yet throughout the entire night, not a single person had heard a sound or smelled a thing.
Bai Jin went to the window and looked down. What met his eyes was a large area of lushly blooming roses; there were no bloodstains on the ground either.
“The color is too red… what is used to nourish them…?” Looking at the vividly red rose garden, he seemed to understand, and a thought formed in his mind.
When he came out, the players saw he was fine and rushed in to look for clues.
“What happened? Was a player…” Seeing him, Li Rangnian’s eyes lit up, his little gaze drifting as he tried to look behind the man. However, the man blocked him tightly; he couldn’t see anything.
Bai Jin wanted to laugh but restrained himself, saying with feigned seriousness: “Don’t look. If you do, you’ll have nightmares and be haunted by ghosts.”
The beauty was clearly frightened, his small face turning white. “I won’t look, I won’t look! I don’t want to be haunted!”
“Don’t be afraid, I’m here. Don’t worry.” The man hugged him heart-wrenchingly, cinching his thin waist and leading him downstairs while coaxing him in a soft voice. “It’s truly nothing, don’t be afraid. Let’s go see if there’s anything fun in the manor.”
When the Butler said “free movement,” he truly meant it. During the process of visiting the manor, he didn’t appear at all, and they rarely even encountered maids.
Such a vast manor was as quiet as a graveyard at this moment, with only the faint voices of the players occasionally ringing out.
Bai Jin took Li Rangnian outside. The garden was full of roses, the fragrance was intoxicating, and they swayed in the wind, fresh with dew.
Beyond the high wall, only the treetops and half of the grey-white sky could be seen. Dead vines entwined upon it, like pythons gripping their prey.
“The flowers are so beautiful.” Li Rangnian loved roses. He plucked one and tucked it behind his ear. The vibrant red contrasted with his beautiful face that wore no makeup. His pure black pupils expanded strangely when he stared at someone with focus, making him look exceptionally ghostly.
“A-Nian is so beautiful. These flowers suit you.” Bai Jin never hesitated to praise him. While praising with his mouth, his hand had already drawn his item the long blade ready to deal with any mishaps.
…But everything was peaceful; there was no movement.
Li Rangnian reacted at this moment. “What should I do? I seem to have broken a rule… the Butler said we cannot damage the roses in the manor.”
The man, equally surprised, touched his cheek and soothed him, “Don’t be afraid. The game rules are part true and part false; they can’t be fully believed. You’re fine now, which means this rule is likely false.”
While he said this, his back was tensed, his eyes warily scanning the surroundings. Suddenly, he glimpsed a somber figure in a certain window.
It was the Butler. One couldn’t tell how long he had been standing there. His gaze was chilling as he watched the two in close contact, and the surrounding temperature dropped abruptly.
Sensing the man’s gaze, he slowly revealed an eerie smile, and his figure soon dissipated.
There’s trouble. Bai Jin thought to himself. On the surface, he still smiled lightly, leaning down to plant a kiss on the beauty’s lips. “Keep wearing it. Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
