At the same time.
Country C, Capital Airport.
Even though night had fallen, Capital Airport remained brightly lit, processing a massive volume of passengers. The chatter of travelers, the roar of planes taking off and landing, and the rumbling of suitcase wheels rolling across the floor created a bustling scene.
Soon, a surge of travelers emerged from the exit. A tall, athletic man stepped out of the VIP channel, pulling a silver suitcase that looked exceptionally small in contrast to his height. His long legs strode forward with composure, his perfectly fitted suit without a single wrinkle highlighting his flawless physique.
His features were as chiseled and deep as a sculpture; his dark, heavy brows and eyes were strikingly handsome, with wild eyebrows revealing a hint of unruliness. His thin lips were tightly pressed, giving him a cold and distant aura.
The bodyguards, who had been waiting at the arrivals gate for a long time, hurried over to take the suitcase from his hand, respectfully escorting him toward the exit where a driver was already on standby.
“Back to the villa,” he commanded coldly. Sitting steadily in the back seat, he took the phone handed to him by a bodyguard and slid it to unlock. Soon, a barrage of notifications filled the screen.
He scanned the red dots at a glance, selecting a few important people to reply to while clearing out the rest.
It was at this moment that a communication popped up:
Song Hansheng, class reunion tonight at 8:00 PM at the Linshan Hotel. Are you coming?
He narrowed his eyes slightly and clicked the message. The contact was labeled as his high school class monitor.
High school… Song Hansheng suddenly felt bored. Just as he was about to delete the contact, a few more messages arrived:
By the way, Yu An is back. He’s also attending the gathering. Are you two still in contact? I thought you would come with him.
The force with which he gripped his phone suddenly increased, his knuckles protruding. The dim light illuminated his cold and annoyed expression.
Yu An… Heh, you actually dare to return?
“Turn around. Go to the Linshan Hotel.”
The Rolls-Royce came to a steady stop in the parking lot. Han Xiangbai was the first to get out of the car. He opened the door for the beauty inside, bending slightly to show his gentlemanly grace.
“Thank you.” Li Rangnian pursed his lips shyly, leaning against the car door as he carefully stepped onto the ground.
The rain had gradually lessened on the way here and had now almost stopped.
While the driver went to park, Han Xiangbai led Li Rangnian toward the hotel.
The greeters at the entrance were dressed thinly but elegantly. They smiled and welcomed them.
Han Xiangbai exuded the arrogance typical of the wealthy, ignoring them as he walked inside. The beauty following a step behind, however, instinctively returned their smile.
He was shy and reserved, like a flower bud waiting to bloom.
Witnessing this, Han Xiangbai felt his heart soften. It was as if he had met a timid rabbit whose behavior was old-fashioned in a cute way, yet not at all petty.
However, having escorted the person to the hotel, he had no reason to stay by the beauty’s side any longer. He could only watch with regret as the other walked away.
The hotel was luxuriously decorated. The lobby was a scene of golden brilliance, with crystal chandeliers adorning the air like sparkling stars.
A massive piece of Phoebe zhennan wood stood on the central display platform, bearing a plaque with the words “Linshan Hotel” written in a flamboyant, flowing script.
Exquisitely designed spiral staircases wound upward, their steps covered in ornate knitted carpets. Additionally, over a dozen elevators were available for guests to move between floors.
The Linshan Hotel aimed to provide guests with perfect service, boasting complete facilities: bars, swimming pools, restaurants, gyms, billiard rooms… everything was provided.
The high school class reunion was being held here.
The organizer was a “Second Generation Wealthy” classmate of Yu An’s. Back in high school, he had been obsessed with gathering friends; after all these years, his personality hadn’t changed much he still loved doing things with great fanfare.
The pre-booked restaurant was free of outside disturbances. The old classmates who had been invited were exceptionally cordial, gathering in small groups to chat.
Yu An was not bad-looking, with a high nose and phoenix eyes. When looking at people, the corners of his mouth were always slightly raised, making him appear gentle, yet his eyes were cold, keeping others at a distance of a thousand miles.
During high school, he had served as the study representative for three years, maintaining a polite distance with many people. At this moment, several groups came to reminisce with him.
Due to his sudden departure from the country, many people felt great pity upon learning the facts. No one asked for his reasons; most asked how he had been these past few years and why he had returned.
His slender fingers pinched a goblet, gently swirling the red wine inside as it released a charming fragrance.
“…I’ve been doing very well abroad these years. I chose to pursue painting and studied under Master Asik…”
His answers were steady and effortless, his face wearing a fixed smile. “I returned to establish my own art career. I want to promote my teacher’s painting philosophy and earn more people’s understanding and love for art.”
For the wealthy, “bankruptcy” just means having less money; their quality of life doesn’t change much. During his five years abroad, Yu An still lived without worry, chasing his dreams with his family’s support.
His brilliance had also earned praise for his family. Upon returning this time, if he could develop domestically and gain attention securing significant resources and connections he might be able to help his family out of their predicament and stage a comeback.
Yu An chatted idly with those around him while the melodious sound of the piano flowed through the restaurant.
It was then that the sound of glass shattering disrupted the tranquil atmosphere. Everyone stopped talking and looked up. The moment that figure entered their field of vision, the restaurant seemed to freeze.
Good heavens how many beautiful words would it take to describe the beauty’s grace? How much fine wine would be needed to brew the shimmering, tear-like light in his eyes?
The young man’s face was stunningly beautiful. His black hair fell over his chest, adding a touch of gentleness. Even though he was wearing an out-of-place padded coat, it wrapped around his jade-like body like a small cake in an exquisite gift box.
The liquid-splashed hand was so fair it was transparent, with blue veins clearly visible. The wine clung to the delicate skin, lingering as if obsessed with his scent, refusing to slide off until it was brushed away by a fingertip, staining his pink finger-pads.
The beauty appeared slightly panicked and embarrassed. A crimson flush spread across his cheeks, and even his small earlobes were tinged with red.
He apologized softly, bowing slightly. When he looked up at people, his long hair fell in a beautiful curve. No one could ignore his breathtaking beauty.
The man he had bumped into was dazed, his eyes staring straight at the beauty’s raised finger. That drop of wine was still swaying there, making one want to lick it off.
“Sir? Sir?” Li Rangnian waved a hand in front of the frozen man, his face full of concern. “Are you alright? Did you hear what I said?”
“Ah… forgive my rudeness.” The man took a handkerchief from his breast pocket and handed it to him. “Please, wipe yourself.”
Li Rangnian took the handkerchief and wiped himself casually. His gaze landed on the man’s expensive white suit, now stained by a few drops of red wine. His expression was a bit helpless: “Sir, I will compensate you for your suit.”
After the sudden accident, Li Rangnian truly felt a bit embarrassed. His face was heating up, and his body was subconsciously breaking into a light sweat.
His faint body fragrance became more intense one could smell the intoxicating scent just by being near him.
“It’s no big deal. On the contrary, I’m quite happy; it provided an opportunity for us to meet.”
The man smiled, the corners of his narrow eyes slanting upward. His pupils were a light gray, quite attractive looking into his eyes was like looking into the vast universe.
The beauty was indeed charmed. He stared at him and gave a soft, silly smile: “My name is Li Rangnian. Sir, would it be convenient to exchange contact information?”
He’s taken the bait. Jiang Cunshu maintained a refined smile on the surface, but in secret, his gaze lingered over every inch of skin the beauty had exposed to the air, noiselessly coveting the treasure.
Have you seen this scene in countless female-oriented novels? The “Little White Flower” accidentally soils the CEO’s clothes or shoes, is forcefully demanded to pay compensation, and their unyielding integrity deeply moves the CEO. Thus begins a chaotic romance.
No, no, no did you really think that could attract a CEO?
In reality, such low-level methods are played out in high society every day. Countless “sparrows” dream of becoming phoenixes overnight.
Jiang Cunshu was used to it and tired of it.
But in fact, the “face-slapping” came without warning.
The moment he turned around, his nose had sensed the beauty’s presence before his eyes did. That faint body fragrance was the herald of Cupid’s arrow. When he finally saw the beauty, his pupils constricted, and the God of Love whispered in his ear:
Look, your destiny has finally arrived this day.
Having secured the beauty’s contact info, Jiang Cunshu extended an invitation: “Would you like to join our gathering?”
Seeing the beauty’s restraint, he smiled and said gently, “These are all my high school classmates. We haven’t met in years, but no one has changed much. It’s worth a chat.”
The surrounding people raised their glasses to the beauty with friendly smiles. They were all sharp; they knew what Jiang Cunshu’s invitation meant and exchanged knowing glances.
At most, they’d just be chatting with a beauty it was easy on the eyes and earned them a favor from Jiang Cunshu. It was worth it.
The lights in the restaurant were brilliant. Everyone around him was dressed in suits and meticulously groomed. Li Rangnian’s gaze swept over those faces, but for a moment, he couldn’t find the protagonist Omega.
He felt embarrassed to state his purpose, so he leaned closer to the man, standing slightly on his tiptoe to whisper: “I’m sorry. I’m here to find someone, I can’t stay long.”
Jiang Cunshu instinctively leaned down. In his vision, the beauty approached, whispering into his ear.
In an instant, he projected himself into a post-marriage scenario. The beauty, already his wife, was whispering sweet nothings into his ear. His breath was light against his ear, carrying the fuzzy sensation of a small animal.
“…”
Before Jiang Cunshu could recover, Li Rangnian had already stepped back and stood there smiling at him.
He steadied his breathing, sinking all the chaotic thoughts in his mind to the bottom of the sea. “Who are you looking for? Perhaps I know them?”
“I’m here to find my hus—”
“Why are you here?”
The two voices overlapped. Li Rangnian was dazed for a moment. He looked toward the source of the second voice and locked eyes with a pair of deep, dark orbs.
Yu An had already approached while the two were talking. While idly chatting with those around him, he had been evaluating his nominal wife.
The other looked like a little rabbit that had blundered inside, losing his composure in the face of unimaginable luxury. While backing away, he had bumped into a wealthy classmate, and his expression instantly became panicked, with a hint of tears in his eyes.
He looks quite pitiful.
Yu An thought silently. He had always known Li Rangnian had a beautiful face, but in the past, looking at that face brought no thoughts. Now, in just a few dozen seconds, the other’s vivid and lifelike appearance was like a hook, tugging at his heartstrings.
It was as if a stiff doll had suddenly been injected with a soul, coming to life in an instant.
Moreover, in his eyes, there was no calculated fawning or greed only clarity.
How strange. Was his wife actually a pretender with a hidden motive?
