- Chapter 13 - The Sickly Alpha Who Sows Discord
The physical constitution of an Alpha is exceptionally superior. Despite carrying the weight of a person while trekking through dozens of miles of rugged, uneven mountain paths, his face remained calm, his heart didn’t race, and his breathing stayed normal.
As they traveled, the overhead foliage grew so dense that not a single sliver of sunlight could pierce through; the boundary between day and night was lost. The surroundings were silent, save for the crunch of boots on fallen leaves and the shallow breathing of the two individuals.
“Hiss, hiss…”
A subtle, rustling sound arose, like scales rubbing against rough bark. A sleek, black shadow glided down a thick tree trunk, moving slowly from a distance, it looked like a piece of shimmering black silk.
Li Rangnian suddenly felt goosebumps rise on his arms. He looked up alertly, only catching a glimpse of a pitch-black tail-tip flickering out of sight as it vanished into the green canopy.
“Don’t be afraid, Little Li.”
The Alpha had stopped at some unknown point. His large hand gently pressed against the legs clamped around his waist, offering comfort. “It’s a Black Mountain Snake. It’s highly venomous but has a docile temperament. Its primary diet is the Four-Eyed Sky Chicken; it generally doesn’t eat humans.”
“However, speaking of which, is Little Li hungry?” Qin Yuan bounced the person on his back slightly, his eyes sparkling with a smile as he said lightheartedly, “How about I catch the snake for you to eat?”
The moment he heard the word “snake,” Li Rangnian subconsciously shook his head. Realizing the other man couldn’t see him, he immediately spoke up: “Let’s not. It’ll smell fishy, and it’s very dangerous.”
Qin Yuan blinked slowly. “Black Mountain Snake meat is tender and fresh with no fishy smell. As for danger, it’s not really an issue it’s just a bit difficult to catch them alive.”
Action followed the word. He found a clean spot to set the person down. After pinching the small face, he straightened up, hands in his pockets, looking at him with a beaming smile. “I need to replenish some energy from Little Li.”
Before Li Rangnian could react, the Alpha turned and took a running start, grabbed a hanging vine, and leaped into the tree.
The canopy shook a few times, dropping a few leaves before falling silent.
Qin Yuan was like a vigorous leopard, leaping back and forth between adjacent branches. He quickly followed the scent and located the Black Mountain Snake they had just passed; it was right below him.
The target was an adult snake over a hundred meters long, its girth as thick as a water bucket. Its scales were tough and tight ordinary blades couldn’t harm it. It was currently hanging leisurely from a tree.
A powerful surge of mental energy flooded toward it like a tide. Sensing the killing intent, the Black Mountain Snake snapped its triangular head up. A pair of golden vertical pupils shone brightly as its black body slid incessantly. It aimed at the trunk where Qin Yuan was perched and flicked its forked tongue, making a threatening “hiss, hiss” sound.
Qin Yuan slowly drew a sharp knife from his waist. He held his breath for a moment, then suddenly leaped!
Invisible mental energy poured out unceasingly, sweeping up countless fallen leaves from all directions to crash against the giant snake. That agile figure descended from the sky, stepping heavily onto the snake’s head, followed immediately by the sharp blade.
“Clang—”
The blade collided violently with the scales, carving a silver mark and even sparking.
At this moment, the fallen leaves were also incredibly sharp, like countless silver needles, pouring down with a metallic clatter.
The giant snake thrashed its head in fury. Its tail struck the ground, smashing out a significant depression before sweeping back with heavy force.
Qin Yuan leaped into the air, dodging the tail. As he fell, he raised his hand again and drove the sharp knife ruthlessly into the snake’s pupil.
“Puchi!” The clear sound of flesh being sliced echoed. Blood sprayed out, and warm liquid splashed onto his face. Qin Yuan didn’t even blink; he used the momentum of the impact to land steadily on the ground.
The giant snake, having been stabbed in one eye, sprayed blood incessantly. In excruciating pain, it twisted its body frantically, slapping the ground with a loud “pa-pa” sound.
Qin Yuan remained expressionless. He slowly raised one hand and pressed his palm downward. “Boom—” Under the pressure of his mental energy, the giant snake was forcibly smashed into the ground, pinned so tightly it couldn’t break free.
His legs, encased in long boots, moved with a smooth stride as he walked toward his prey step by step. Facing the mound-like giant, Qin Yuan showed no fear. Instead, he looked on with interest, evaluating the wide-open, bloody maw: “Your teeth are quite beautiful. I can take them out and make a carving to give to Little Li.”
The giant snake was consumed by impotent rage, its tail swinging frantically like a spiral, but it could only watch helplessly as the man used the sharp knife to gouge out its proud fangs.
Blood dripped down like lava, causing the small patches of grass on the ground to wither instantly.
Qin Yuan’s hand holding the knife was covered in toxic blood. His skin festered, revealing the crimson interior, but because of an Alpha’s excellent self-healing ability, it recovered rapidly, with dead skin peeling off like snowflakes.
And he didn’t even knit his brows.
Eventually, Qin Yuan returned, reeking of blood.
At the gesture of his eyes, Li Rangnian dazedly spread his hands. A string of translucent white fangs dropped into his palm they were small, exquisite, and clearly had been meticulously polished.
“Do you like it, Little Li?”
The Alpha’s expression seemed indifferent, but his eyes were filled with expectation.
Li Rangnian’s mood was somewhat complicated. He looked up at him, his peach-blossom eyes curving slightly. “Thank you, Brother Qin. I like it very much.”
Qin Yuan felt a sense of heartfelt satisfaction, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly. “What I promised you, I will certainly do.”
Soon, flames licked the snake meat, roasting out bits of grease that sizzled and dripped. The skin was grilled to a golden brown, and the aroma of the meat was fragrant.
Unknown wild herbs were crushed into a green paste and brushed thickly over the surface, followed by a sprinkling of coarse salt and cumin.
Li Rangnian and 051 watched the protagonist Alpha display his skills with wide eyes. They ate until their mouths were glistening with oil. Li Rangnian was thoughtfully fed by the other; anything he couldn’t finish went straight into Qin Yuan’s stomach.
The Black Mist Forest was like a green no-man’s-land. The surviving students were scattered in small numbers. After several days of trekking, they hadn’t encountered a single soul.
The daily routine was simple: Qin Yuan carried him along the river. When it was time for a meal, he would set him down to hunt, and they would set off immediately after eating, only stopping to rest when night fell.
The surrounding scenery almost never changed it was green as always. Anyone else would have been driven mad by the boundless silence.
This river seemed to be the only source of water. Every day, they encountered various creatures coming to drink. No matter how powerful Qin Yuan was, he didn’t dare be careless; he tried to avoid them whenever possible.
Evening.
The sky gradually darkened, especially within the forest.
The ignited campfire deterred some animals while attracting others. During the night, animals would always circle the perimeter, attempting to devour the two humans.
Qin Yuan’s mental energy consumption was high, but he could still manage. He set up a transparent, dense web around them to prevent those restless animals from rushing in.
Li Rangnian sat to the side with his knees hugged to his chest. His small face was pale, his chin pointed, and the flickering campfire was reflected in his dark pupils. His soft hair rested on his forehead, making him look exceptionally fragile.
051 muttered to itself: [It’s really strange. Instead of looking for the protagonist Omega, the protagonist Alpha is taking the host on a survival trip…] However, its feedback received no reply, as the world’s main storyline was still functioning normally.
In the next second, it was startled into a scream by the red lights flashing across the screen. [Aahhh! The protagonist Omega is seriously injured!!!]
[Warning! Warning! Warning!]
Li Rangnian immediately snapped back to his senses and stood up all at once, asking in shock: “What happened? The protagonist Omega is seriously injured?”
[I’ll look right away!] 051 was so anxious it almost flew. A virtual panel appeared before its eyes; it pulled up the map, zoomed in, and tracked the protagonist Omega’s perspective in real-time. Facing them was a swinging vine that exploded in the air with a “pa” sound.
The protagonist Omega’s perspective was constantly jolting, seemingly as he dodged. It was all a blur; the person attacking him on the other side couldn’t be seen clearly at all.
[The protagonist Omega’s location isn’t far. Host, hurry and think of a way to help!]
Help?
Li Rangnian lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes trembling slightly, concealing the shimmering light in his gaze. His eyes drifted toward the teeth on his chest—curved and gleaming with the light of the campfire, looking like crescent moons in the night.
“The protagonist Alpha won’t let me leave; he’ll get suspicious,” he said indifferently. “But I can get him to go save the protagonist Omega. Does that count as facilitating the emotional storyline between the protagonists?”
[Of course it counts.]
“Brother Qin.” He beckoned, as if calling a pet, a look of innocent smiling on his face, his dimples faintly visible.
The tall Alpha came to his side and crouched down. His athletic physique was full of overwhelming presence, making him almost level with the person sitting on the ground. “Little Li?”
Li Rangnian’s palm rested gently on his shoulder. He instantly felt the muscles beneath his hand tighten. His eyes were bright. “Did you hear any sound?”
“…” Qin Yuan said nothing. He stared silently at the string of teeth on the fair neck—pearly white, ice-cold, pressed against the skin, gradually being stained by the beauty’s warm fragrance… many unseemly thoughts flashed through his mind, eventually sinking into the sea.
“Brother Qin isn’t listening seriously!” Li Rangnian frowned and pinched him with his crescent-shaped nails. It only brought a sense of numbness that traveled from his shoulder all the way to his scalp. The Alpha’s breathing suddenly became heavy.
Qin Yuan had actually heard it. His mental energy had sensed the fight not far away, synchronizing the bloody scenes into his mind, but he didn’t want to care.
Especially after he clearly saw the face of one of the people.
The weak deserve to be eliminated. If Shen Yiqing were killed just like that, it would only prove his failure, and he would never appear before Little Li again.
Shen Yiqing is an Omega, right? Their blood has an aphrodisiac effect on Alphas. Bleeding that much… who knows what will happen. The man thought maliciously. It would be best if he were… by those few Alphas. Once something is dirtied, Little Li certainly won’t want it.
The sensation on his shoulder brought him back to his senses. His dark pupils fixed directly on the person in front of him, the darkness twisting into a monster with bared claws: “Little Li, if you’re asking for a favor, you must have the attitude of someone asking for a favor.”
He seemed to split in two. One half was wondering why the beauty knew this news, his mind filled with suspicion and anger; the other half scrutinized the beauty from a height, his gaze wantonly licking across the corners of the other’s eyes, moving down step by step.
The faint pheromones suddenly expanded, surrounding the beauty so tightly that not even air could pass through, poised to strike.
“Your gland… can you let me take a bite?”
…
Tides of pleasure swept through his mind wave after wave. Pale fingertips curled weakly; he thought he was tightly clutching the Alpha’s hem, but in reality, his hand had already fallen to the ground, pinned by the Alpha as their fingers intertwined.
His neck was caught. Sharp teeth pierced the gland, and pheromones were injected frantically. It was too intense; his body couldn’t stop trembling, but he was suppressed by the tyrant.
Wet kiss marks extended all the way from the corner of his mouth blooming red plums were everywhere. Even the tears at the corners of his eyes were meticulously kissed away.
A tint of thin red rose at the end of his eyes, soaked with tears. His gaze was dazed, as if a drizzling rain had begun to fall.
The process lasted for tens of minutes. The “strawberry” was peeled open, and the sweet-and-sour juice exploded in the mouth. The snow-white skin was a canvas, allowed to be splashed upon by the Alpha at will. Yes, the cherries were sucked into a bright red, the sunken small of the back was filled with sweat, and even that pair of warm, fragrant white jades had to be thoroughly appreciated and toyed with. He couldn’t bear to let them go until they were covered in marks.
One should be glad there were no cameras nearby; otherwise, everyone would have seen this ear-reddening, erotic scene.
The subtle sobs were drowned out by the sound of thick, wet noises. The beauty was drenched in sweat, wet hair sticking to his cheeks. Finally, he was flipped over, and his buttons were fastened one by one.
Qin Yuan, satisfied, hugged the person in his arms. He lowered his head to leave a kiss on the top of his head, his voice terrifyingly hoarse: “Be good. Wait for me here.”
The Alpha’s figure vanished into the night. 051, having just been released from the “small dark room,” broke down in tears: [Aahhh! Host, you… you, you, you… how did you end up with the protagonist Alpha!]
“I’m sorry, System. I didn’t mean to mess up the mission.” Li Rangnian apologized aggrievedly, tears swirling in his eyes, threatening to fall, gleaming with starlight. He looked exceptionally pitiful.
The system’s crying suddenly got stuck in its throat. It explained awkwardly, [Actually, actually, it’s not that big of a deal. It’s just that the mission score will be very low, which affects my salary…]
Li Rangnian lowered his head, looking very remorseful. “It’s all my fault, System. I dragged you down. How about I give you all of my salary instead?”
[No, no! How could I do that!] 051 flew in front of him with a “shoo”, rubbing against his smooth, delicate cheek. While its heart was fluttering, it said righteously, [It’s all my fault for not detecting the protagonist Alpha’s evil intentions toward you in time. I definitely won’t let him succeed next time!]
Its poor host looked so miserable right now; he must have been treated horribly by the protagonist Alpha.
How hateful! To dare snatch a person right from the System’s mouth!
It didn’t notice at all that the corners of the beauty’s mouth had secretly curled up. Another fool had been swindled.
