- A Charming and Cool Guy Finds Himself in a Chaotic Situation [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 17 - Caught in the Act... In Bed?
Few people had ever seen Yuan Hechu fire a gun in person.
In battles against alien races, weapons like firearms, with their low lethality and limited range, had long been phased out. In this day and age, the significance of a firearm was solely to kill people.
Yuan Hechu held a position of high authority, and no matter where he went, he was followed by at least a few armed guards. A simple command was all it took for his guards to act on his behalf. In the event of a sudden assassination, the guards would shoot down the attacker without needing Yuan Hechu to speak a word.
The gun that Yuan Hechu carried daily served more as a deterrent.
He maintained this rarely-used firearm as a warning to those harboring malicious intentions: do not act rashly.
On Capital Star, the Federal Marshal Yuan Hechu was, in himself, the supreme law.
He possessed the authority to fire his weapon anytime and anywhere, without explanation, and no one could stop him.
Yu Mianfeng gazed at the pitch-black muzzle.
He was certain that Yuan Hechu would not cause collateral damage.
The kidnapping Alpha seemed to sense something and looked up abruptly to stare at Yu Mianfeng, but it was already too late.
The man was kneeling between Yu Mianfeng’s knees. Yuan Hechu had originally intended to blow the man’s head off with a single shot, leaving him no chance of survival, but upon seeing the situation clearly, Yuan Hechu decisively aimed the muzzle at the Alpha’s heart in an instant.
The bullet fired with incredible speed; Yuan Hechu didn’t hesitate for a moment, pulling the trigger.
His hand was steady. The bullet entered the heart without the slightest deviation, stopped, and detonated within the flesh and blood it was an effect similar to a miniature bomb, typically reserved for executing death-row prisoners.
Before the gunshot rang out, Yu Mianfeng lowered his head, contemplating how he might exit the scene gracefully later, only to collide with the kidnapping Alpha’s unnervingly calm eyes.
Before his eyes, a blood-filled crater exploded from the man’s chest, and perhaps some flesh and blood splattered onto his face.
Yu Mianfeng tried to pull his hands back, the iron cuffs clanking faintly. The man who had been shot to death now lacked the strength to restrain him; the two hands pressing on him dropped limply, as he began the transition into a still-warm corpse.
But in his dying struggle, the Alpha erupted with a fresh burst of vitality, stemming from the body modifications he had undergone while wandering in outer star systems he was already several dozen percent non-human.
However, this could not save him from death; it only ensured he would die more slowly, giving him the chance to grip Yu Mianfeng’s pant leg and utter a final sentence to him.
Yuan Hechu did not stop. He fired continuously and calmly; the sound of gunfire and the explosion of flesh and blood beat rhythmically against Yu Mianfeng’s eardrums.
The man before him widened his eyes, his lips moving as if he had something left to say to Yu Mianfeng.
He no longer had the strength to struggle, but like an obsession, he had to speak the words he had been thinking about day and night.
“You have to remember me.”
The man said it stubbornly, obsessively, and crazily, his voice hoarse. A second later, a large amount of dark blood surged from his mouth, staining his own front and Yu Mianfeng’s clothing.
The man’s death grip gradually lost its strength. The tears on his handsome face were so distinct.
Painful and twisted, filled with emotions Yu Mianfeng could not comprehend.
It wasn’t until the corpse was tossed far away by Yuan Hechu and the handcuffs were calmly and violently shattered by him that Yu Mianfeng remained in a detached state, his fist clenched, his gaze floating somewhere in the void.
A clean, crisp military overcoat was draped over Yu Mianfeng, covering every inch of his skin.
Yu Mianfeng’s sea-blue pupils shifted slightly, watching Yuan Hechu toss aside the cuffs which no longer resembled their original form onto the floor with a sharp clink, not far from the human-skin mask the Alpha had discarded.
No one spoke; the room felt overly silent.
Yu Mianfeng turned his gaze toward the corpse Yuan Hechu had viciously thrown into the corner; it seemed to still heave faintly. A moment later, Yuan Hechu moved to block his view.
Yuan Hechu reached out his right hand to him. Yu Mianfeng saw clearly that his fingertips were covered in blood.
Whose blood it was went without saying.
Yuan Hechu seemed to realize this too, his movements pausing for a beat. He immediately stripped off his black left-hand glove and used his clean fingertips to wipe away the blood splatters from Yu Mianfeng’s fair face.
Yu Mianfeng’s eyelashes trembled visibly. He lifted his eyes, looking straight at Yuan Hechu.
Yuan Hechu slowly withdrew his fingers; the bloodstain in his fingerprints smeared and vanished.
“Don’t be afraid,” Yuan Hechu said. His voice was steady, possessing a magical, reassuring aura.
He was silent for a moment before adding: “Today’s events will be categorized as a murder attempt against the Yu family’s heir.”
The military had intervened, crushing the situation with force.
Yu Mianfeng didn’t care much about these things, offering only a short, light “Mhm.”
It was an extremely brief sound, but in a room where one could hear a pin drop, it sounded exceptionally abrupt.
Yuan Hechu couldn’t help but recall the scene he had witnessed while standing outside the door; that soft groan seemed to linger in his ears, refusing to fade, exceptionally clear.
In this predicament, his breathing couldn’t help but still for a moment.
Yu Mianfeng only saw Yuan Hechu stand up abruptly, returning with the shoes the kidnapper had placed to one side, and crouched down, seemingly wanting to put them on him personally.
Before that broad palm could land on his ankle, Yu Mianfeng instinctively wanted to pull his legs back, his movements stiffening for an instant.
Because of his sudden violent movement, the coat draped over his body slid down a bit. Yuan Hechu saw his flushed neck it was no longer its usual pale color; it was clearly a sign that something was wrong.
He could guess what the situation was like under the coat, so when he was breaking the handcuffs, Yuan Hechu had not cast a single glance, not even in his peripheral vision.
He forcefully controlled his own thoughts, but some things were beyond his control.
He recalled the scene he had seen that day at the hospital when he looked down at Yu Mianfeng.
Pale and flushed.
“…I apologize.”
Yuan Hechu didn’t know what to say about his own current actions, or his own current reaction.
He could only offer an apology.
Yuan Hechu stood up and considerately moved further away, leaving an independent space for Yu Mianfeng so he could tidy his personal clothing.
Yu Mianfeng put away the miniature bomb in his palm and, as he lowered his head to handle his loose clothing, he suddenly heard gunfire originating from directly in front of him.
He finished fastening his clothes and looked up again, only to see that the corpse’s face had been blown to smithereens by bullets, a mass of flesh and blood, unrecognizable.
Yuan Hechu quickly flipped the corpse over and disposed of it simply, so that anyone who saw it wouldn’t feel nauseous.
It wasn’t an act of venting anger, but rather disposing of that face. A noble of Capital Star attempting to rape another noble… it would never sound good if it got out.
The rare peace of Capital Star should not be broken, but Yuan Hechu would make those who coveted him pay the price.
Yu Mianfeng had participated in many simulated battles at the Capital Academy; logically speaking, his ability to accept bloody scenes should be very strong.
But Yuan Hechu always couldn’t help but protect him like a small child… No, Yuan Hechu was never this patient with other children.
Yu Mianfeng’s gaze fell onto Yuan Hechu’s hands; he noticed that the other man had put his gloves back on.
After finishing this, Yuan Hechu stood rooted to the spot without turning around, looking down, not knowing what he was observing; perhaps he wasn’t observing the corpse at all.
After a long time, Yu Mianfeng realized that the other man was waiting for him to tidy up his clothes.
Afraid of seeing something he shouldn’t?
But he was a male Beta.
“Marshal.”
Only then did Yu Mianfeng realize his breathing was still a bit unsteady, but there was no help for it; he could only continue: “Help me call the Yu family bodyguards.”
Given Yu Mianfeng’s personality, if he still had the strength to act on his own, he would not trouble others.
Yuan Hechu understood the implication in Yu Mianfeng’s words and also understood that Yu Mianfeng didn’t want to trouble him at a time like this.
But he also didn’t want to let Yu Mianfeng accept help from anyone other than himself at such a time.
Yuan Hechu turned around silently, removed his gloves, and lifted him up with one hand.
The moment he was suspended in the air, Yu Mianfeng subconsciously wrapped his arms around the other man’s neck.
A moment later, he himself went silent because of this action.
Yu Mianfeng didn’t know what to say. The male side character’s attitude was vastly different from what he had perceived.
He could only accept this kindness and offered a word of thanks.
But when the other man wrapped his arms around his waist, his body inevitably stiffened.
Yuan Hechu, fearing he might slide down, steadied him with the hand that had removed the glove, acting with the utmost restraint.
As the two were about to leave this place, Yu Mianfeng subconsciously glanced at the corpse.
That lifeless back, compared to the crazy and young Alpha in his memory, didn’t seem to have changed much, yet it had truly undergone many changes.
He stared blankly, but at this moment, the System, which had been silent for a long time, suddenly said a very long string of words.
[Ignore him, he is a product of failure.]
The System said: [Such an existence, paranoid and unable to control his own emotions, has no meaning. Annihilation is the best ending for him.]
Capital Star was suffering through a continuous, gloomy rain.
Even though the car insulated them well from the dampness, as the raindrops slid down the window, Yu Mianfeng still tucked in his collar uncomfortably.
Only after doing this did he realize that the coat he was wearing did not belong to him.
The partition between the back seat and the front seat had already been raised, and the driver was not Ke Cheng. Yuan Hechu, sitting beside him, didn’t seem to notice Yu Mianfeng’s momentary discomfort and was busy dealing with military affairs. The blood on his hands had long since been washed away, and his black gloves had been replaced and put back on.
Yuan Hechu continued to issue every command steadily, appearing no different from usual.
After ending the communication, Yuan Hechu closed the communicator and pressed his brow with one hand.
…The moment he carried Yu Mianfeng out of that door, he had lost control because of the boy’s act of turning his head.
In his arms, looking at a corpse.
It was as if it signaled how incompetent he was; before he arrived, everything had already happened.
Pheromones leaked out beyond his control, wrapping around the ignorant Beta.
Even his subordinates, who were always silent and only focused on executing orders, were surprised by his loss of composure.
Yuan Hechu knew he shouldn’t have felt such a burst of possessiveness for no reason.
Or rather, was this possessiveness? Even he himself didn’t know.
He remembered his good sleep quality recently, with no dreams born. Since the day he met the boy at Yu Mianfeng’s coming-of-age ceremony, his emotions had reached a stable index.
…But he still had a headache.
Yu Mianfeng was not the type of person who would stay at home obediently and accept others’ control; no matter what kind of danger he faced, he was more inclined to face it head-on rather than avoid it.
Just like this time, he clearly had many ways to stall for time, yet he had stubbornly provoked that Alpha’s impulses, plunging himself into a dangerous situation.
The recording device in the room had long been dismantled by information technicians, and the only recording in existence was now in Yuan Hechu’s own hands.
Yuan Hechu noticed that when Yu Mianfeng was conversing with that Alpha, there was indeed suspicion.
This was not evidence favorable to Yu Mianfeng, so Yuan Hechu, with his own selfish motives, did not hand the recording to anyone, even though this recording would have been favorable for him in the upcoming trial court within the military.
From the headset came the boy’s breathing, and sounds other than his breathing, hoarse and rapid.
And the owner of this voice was currently sitting beside him.
Yuan Hechu pressed the stop button.
The vehicle stopped at the Yu family’s gate, and outside the car door were the Yu family bodyguards waiting to welcome Yu Mianfeng with black umbrellas.
This time, Yuan Hechu did not send Yu Mianfeng off in person. He watched the boy leave and disappear from his sight. On the seat beside him lay his own military overcoat.
The Yu family bodyguards prepared new clothes for Yu Mianfeng to put on.
The rain was falling heavily, and the scenery outside the car window was hazy and unclear.
The partition between the front and back seats remained raised. Yuan Hechu was in no hurry to tell the driver to start the car; instead, he lit a cigarette, lifted his hand, and turned on the display screen in front of him.
The camera was dutifully recording the not-so-clear sight in the rain. Yuan Hechu had intended to witness Yu Mianfeng walk through the Yu family gate with his own eyes, so that his scorching, anxious mood might subside. But unexpectedly, he saw another scene.
A young Alpha was pressed close to Yu Mianfeng, holding an umbrella for him personally. The Yu family bodyguards stood not far from them; it must have been Yu Mianfeng’s will.
Over the coat brought by the Yu family bodyguards that Yu Mianfeng was wearing, a new outer garment had been draped it belonged to the Alpha standing opposite him.
Yuan Hechu took a puff of his cigarette, exhaling slowly, and observed coolly.
He was well-versed in everyone Yu Mianfeng might come into contact with, so it was easy to determine the Alpha’s identity.
Jiang Henggu from the Capital Academy, in the same grade as Yu Mianfeng.
Yu Mianfeng had once humiliated this person, making him his slave and dog… until now, the two still maintained this relationship, their connection never having been severed.
Yuan Hechu didn’t care much for the naughty, impulsive nature of young masters from noble families.
But he knew what kind of intentions that Alpha harbored, and with what attitude he was conveniently approaching Yu Mianfeng.
Yuan Hechu knew that Yu Mianfeng’s attitude toward this Alpha was merely a whim, just for fun. Yu Mianfeng himself lived a very regular life and had no excessive private life, so the relationship between the two was obvious: the Alpha was maintaining it alone, or, more accurately, “sticking to him shamelessly” would be more appropriate.
Usually, Yuan Hechu would not use such derogatory terms to describe others.
He took another puff of his cigarette mint-flavored, spicy.
The two figures on the display screen finally made a move, no longer in that intimate, close-talking posture that made Yuan Hechu’s gaze darken.
The Alpha moved the black umbrella in his hand, letting it tilt in Yu Mianfeng’s direction.
The tall Alpha pressed against the Beta’s nape and leaned down.
With such a significant action, what would happen next was perhaps self-evident.
On the electronic screen, two silhouettes overlapped, intimate and inseparable.
Yuan Hechu saw clearly how the Alpha’s tongue, disregarding the other’s resistance, probed into the Beta’s mouth, his attitude firm, suppressing the other’s struggles; perhaps this was something every Alpha would do at a time like this.
The electronic screen in front of Yuan Hechu shattered into pieces and went dark, with no further imagery appearing.
The black, smooth, mirror-like screen fragments reflected Yuan Hechu’s expression which was no longer calm as usual and the blood droplets seeping from his fingers.
A terrifyingly strong wave of Alpha pheromones erupted suddenly in the car, only to be firmly locked in by the specially constructed car body. Only the driver, who was also an Alpha, could feel the meaning of that rage emanating from behind the black partition that could not block the pheromones.
The cigarette at his fingertips burned slowly.
Yuan Hechu suddenly recalled the pheromones of the Alpha boy named Jiang Henggu that his subordinates had collected.
It was the pungent mint scent he had smelled on Yu Mianfeng at the Yu family’s engagement party that day.
