- A Beauty in the 80s Goes on a Blind Date with Her Child, Captivating the Military Compound
- Chapter 8 - Gu Chengfeng's Body Was Very Hot
The salesperson quickly took the coat down and held it out to Shen Sisi, winking at her. “Comrade, I’m so jealous of you. You have such a generous and loving partner.”
With that said, Shen Sisi didn’t know how to respond.
She could only smile and, bracing herself, put on the red woolen coat.
The coat did look very good on her.
The red color complemented her skin. Her already fair face looked even fairer, and her entire being seemed to be glowing.
The cut was also excellent; it wasn’t bulky at all. Instead, it made her shoulders look straight and her figure slender.
In short, it looked good.
It was as if she had become a different person.
Shen Sisi looked at herself in the mirror with a sigh. It had been a long time since she had worn such nice clothes.
The last time was when her parents were still alive.
Shen Sisi was looking in the mirror, but Gu Chengfeng’s gaze was fixed on her, and his eyes held a particularly excited light.
Before Shen Sisi could react, he gave a look to the salesperson. “This is the one. We’ll wear it and go.”
“What?” Shen Sisi quickly waved her hand, wanting to take it off, but his large palm stopped her.
“The clothes you’re wearing are old. Don’t wear them anymore.”
Shen Sisi pursed her lips. Was he implying that she was embarrassing him?
But it was true. She was going back to the military compound with Gu Chengfeng soon. Dressing too shabbily would not be a good look for him.
So, she could only nod and said a dry “thank you.”
The word “thank you” was still on her lips when Gu Chengfeng moved on to the children’s clothing counter.
The salesperson, being perceptive, quickly jogged over to the children’s section.
“Are you looking for something for your daughter? She’s so beautiful…” she said with a big smile, praising Niu Niu.
The little girl was pretty, but she looked sickly.
Her small face was sallow and thin, her hair was like dried grass, and although her clothes were old and had patches, they were clean and tidy. You could even smell a faint, clean scent of soap from far away.
Gu Chengfeng nodded and asked Niu Niu softly, “Good girl, tell Daddy which one you like.”
The word “Daddy” came out so naturally that it made Shen Sisi blush.
Niu Niu’s eyes lit up. A child had no hidden thoughts. She pointed directly at the red cotton coat with pink plum blossoms.
Gu Chengfeng asked softly, “You like it?”
Niu Niu pursed her lips and timidly looked at Shen Sisi.
This time, Shen Sisi didn’t object. Instead, she nodded her head in approval at Niu Niu.
Niu Niu suddenly let out a breath of relief and, with a bit more courage, pointed at the red cotton coat.
“It’s pretty. Niu Niu likes it!”
Gu Chengfeng’s face instantly broke into a smile. With a carefree wave of his hand, he said, “Then we’ll buy it! And we’ll have Niu Niu change into it, too.”
Niu Niu hugged him, ecstatic. “Thank you, Daddy!”
Gu Chengfeng’s smile was so wide you could barely see his lips. His usually cold and hard face showed a kind and benevolent smile like a doting father.
He didn’t hesitate to buy things for the mother and daughter, but he didn’t buy a single thing for himself.
Shen Sisi noticed this and looked around at the other counters.
She was wondering what she could afford to buy for Gu Chengfeng with her own money.
Gu Chengfeng was like a man on a mission. He strode over to the scarf section.
Seeing that he was about to spend more money, Shen Sisi chased after him. She stood in front of him and pointed to the two red scarves, one large and one small. “I’ll buy these two.”
Gu Chengfeng raised an eyebrow in displeasure. In her haste, she blurted out, “Consider them… consider them my wedding gift to you!”
The words “wedding gift” made her feel shy herself.
They hadn’t even reported their marriage or gotten their certificates, and their families hadn’t met. Would he think she was being too forward?
Even if he did, Shen Sisi was determined to pay for them, to buy the scarves with her own money and give them to him.
This was her dignity in this marriage!
When he heard the words “wedding gift,” Gu Chengfeng’s eyes lit up, and the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but turn up.
His calloused hand subtly stroked the soft scarf, and his eyes sparkled with joy.
“This is the first time you’ve ever given me something…”
Shen Sisi thought about it. Was it the first time? It seemed it was!
Compared to all the big bags of things Gu Chengfeng had bought, her gift was too small.
She just hoped he wouldn’t mind.
She rushed to pay for the scarves first, and then Gu Chengfeng went up to pay for the rest.
Buying all these things had used up almost all the money, food stamps, cloth stamps, and sugar stamps he had on him.
Shen Sisi’s heart ached. All that money and those stamps would have been enough for her to live on in the countryside for a year.
But he looked very calm, counting the stamps one by one.
It was true. A man who didn’t manage the household really didn’t know the high price of daily necessities.
Shen Sisi didn’t know when she had become so calculating, having to save every penny.
She only remembered that when her parents were still alive, she had no concept of money. She could buy anything she wanted.
But then…
Sigh, she had let Gu Chengfeng spend so much money today.
The more she thought about it, the more guilty she felt. Now she was poor and had nothing to give Gu Chengfeng except these two red scarves.
Once she got to the city, she would find a way to make money and give him the best things.
Because he deserved it!
Gu Chengfeng paid the bill, carrying the bags in one hand and Niu Niu in the other.
He glanced at the two identical scarves. His cold, icy face quickly melted as if it had met the sun.
He walked up to Shen Sisi, his eyes turned up at the corners, and his chin slightly raised, revealing a section of his tanned neck.
His neck was long and muscular, and his prominent Adam’s apple had a clear outline, making her want to kiss it.
Shen Sisi secretly swallowed, and her heart inexplicably beat faster.
Gu Chengfeng pursed his lips, signaling that his hands were full. “Aren’t you going to put it on me?”
She was flustered, her heart inexplicably feeling guilty. She opened the scarf and awkwardly put it around his neck.
Besides Niu Niu, she had never put a scarf on anyone, let alone a man.
Shen Sisi subconsciously moved closer to him. They were only half a foot apart, getting closer and closer…
It was winter, and it wasn’t very warm in the store, but Gu Chengfeng’s body was very hot.
That heat wave, mixed with his scent, aggressively rushed toward her.
It was the first time she realized that a man’s body could be so hot, so hot that… it made her palms sweat, and a fine sweat appeared on her forehead.
Gu Chengfeng’s face showed no emotion, but the corner of his mouth curved up in pleasure. His body subconsciously leaned toward Shen Sisi.
It was just putting on a scarf, but it made both of them blush and break out in a sweat.
Shen Sisi’s fingers worked quickly, and she smoothed out the wrinkles in the scarf. It felt like she had been picking cotton all day; she was exhausted.
However, looking at her “masterpiece,” she was very happy.
This scarf suited him very well and made him look energetic. Who said men couldn’t wear red and green?
Gu Chengfeng turned to look at himself in the mirror, his gaze falling on the carefully arranged scarf. He smiled at Shen Sisi. “You put yours on too!”
The whole way back, Gu Chengfeng carried the gifts in one hand and the girl in the other. He would glance at their matching red scarves from time to time, his face beaming with a gentle smile.
Shen Sisi wanted to carry the bags, but he refused. She wanted to hold the child, but he wouldn’t let go.
She hadn’t felt so relaxed in a long time. When they arrived at her aunt’s house, the neighbors’ eyes went wide when they saw them.
“Isn’t that Sister Shilan’s niece?”
“Did she find a blind date?”
“And a soldier?”
“Tsk tsk, look at that. It’s different when you get a man. Look at that display; it must be a marriage proposal!”
Everyone stared at them like they were monkeys, whispering to each other.
This rare event would be enough for them to talk about for a while.
Look, an unmarried “fallen woman” with a burden could still find a good man. How rare!
Being pretty was truly something else.
Her vixen-like tactics were on a whole other level!
