A Bad-Hearted Doctor is Unbearably Beautiful - Chapter 94
The screener sitting across from Shen Zhao blanked for a moment. He couldn’t verify the exact “anniversary” date, but looking at the man’s expression, it didn’t seem faked.
He continued the interrogation: “Location of your first date.”
Shen Zhao looked up at the man, appearing to think deeply for a few seconds. “On a cruise ship he chartered.”
The man narrowed his eyes. “What did you do on the cruise ship?”
“We wrapped dumplings.”
“???”
The screener fell silent for several seconds. After asking a few more trivial questions, he finally nodded and waved his hand, signaling Shen Zhao to wait in the room. He then got up and headed toward the room where Lu Xiao was being held.
Shen Zhao remained calm on the surface, though he could feel the red light of the camera above his head blinking. The man was likely going to the other room to cross-reference their stories… he could only hope Lu Xiao didn’t say anything too ridiculous.
Ten minutes later, there was a light knock on the closed door behind Shen Zhao. The screener re-entered. “Welcome to the ‘Sacred Healing Manor,’ Mr. Liang.”
Shen Zhao—now “Mr. Liang”—offered a faint, elegant smile and stood up. The next second, he was pulled into a tight embrace by Lu Xiao, who was waiting at the door. Lu Xiao promptly planted a loud mwah on the top of his head.
“Baby, did I keep you waiting too long?~”
Shen Zhao frowned slightly, then looked up at Lu Xiao with a practiced, pleasing smile. The waiters in black suits exchanged looks of pity, feeling a deep sympathy for this “playboy’s toy.”
Just as they let out a breath of relief, they were led into the next room for a thorough body search.
The two exchanged a glance and walked in with feigned nonchalance. Their most important task was to bring in miniature cameras to record evidence; how to get them past security was the biggest hurdle. Two pairs of comfortable slippers were placed before them.
“Please remove your coats and change into the slippers we have provided. Watches, belts, earrings, and all metallic items must be removed. All communication devices must be checked in; they will be returned upon your departure.”
Several staff members stood by the machines, ready to perform full-body metal detection and physical pat-downs.
Shen Zhao frowned. Before he could move, Lu Xiao had already kicked off his shoes with an air of impatience and disgust. “You people have too many damn rules!”
The staff paused. “This is a necessary procedure, sir,” one said sternly.
Shen Zhao took off his trench coat and removed the watch from his wrist. A staff member wearing black velvet gloves signaled for him to raise his hands. The gloved hands then moved along Shen Zhao’s lean waist, searching downward.
Shen Zhao took the opportunity to unbutton his shirt cuffs as he raised his hands.
“Alright, put them down.”
Beep—Beep—Beep!
The metal detector wailed the moment Shen Zhao lowered his arms. All eyes snapped to him. Shen Zhao looked innocent and confused.
The staff member tilted his head, spotting the brilliant blue sapphire cufflinks on Shen Zhao’s sleeves. “Would it be convenient to remove these for inspection?”
Lu Xiao stared coldly from the side, his gaze extremely dangerous. “Enough! You want him to keep stripping? He’s only got one layer left! You want him standing here naked?”
Ignoring the guards trying to block him, Lu Xiao shoved his way through and strode over. “Can we switch personnel? I don’t like other men touching my things!” He pulled Shen Zhao behind his back, his face darkening with displeasure.
The searcher hesitated. They had seen plenty of short-tempered rich heirs. “Then, would a female staff member taking this gentleman to a private room for the inspection be acceptable?”
Lu Xiao raised his chin lazily, looking grudgingly satisfied.
When it was Lu Xiao’s turn, his movements were defiant. He kept his hands in his pockets, his eyes brimming with arrogance. “Please spread your arms.”
Lu Xiao reluctantly pulled his hands out.
“Please open your arms fully, sir,” the staff member’s tone turned firm.
Lu Xiao glared at him and shoved the man’s chest. “Who the hell are you to talk to me like that?”
In that split second, the miniature camera tucked between Lu Xiao’s fingertips slipped into the staff member’s pocket. The man stumbled back, exhaled a heavy, frustrated breath, and steadied himself. “Please cooperate with our work, or we can refuse your entry!”
Lu Xiao finally raised his hands peevishly. “Is this ever going to end?!”
The upper body search finally finished. Just as the search approached his waist, Lu Xiao’s eyes turned cold and he suddenly bent over. “You f***ing hurt me!”
The guard grew alert. “Please stand straight.”
At that moment, Shen Zhao walked out of the private inspection room. Lu Xiao immediately wrapped an arm around him. “I’d rather have him search me~~ right, baby?”
Shen Zhao whispered, “There are people here, stop it.”
Lu Xiao smirked. “It’s true. Your hands have a much better grip.”
The staff member’s expression turned cold, but he lightened his touch and finally finished Lu Xiao’s search. Both were cleared of carrying any contraband.
The waiter bowed and handed them two virtual ID badges. “Welcome, distinguished guests.”
After navigating a labyrinth of corridors within the opulent building, they were brought to a heavy metal door. The waiter used iris recognition to unlock it.
They walked down a hallway lined with soft red carpet, where masked bodyguards stood silently every few meters. Lu Xiao noted that the walls and floors seemed reinforced, and hidden cameras were everywhere.
Their hearts drummed with anticipation for whatever horrific scene lay ahead, but the path only grew narrower.
“Where are we going?”
The waiter smiled. “Our guests have had a long journey. I will take you to your suite to rest. The party begins tomorrow afternoon. Until then, please feel free to enjoy the services of the Manor.”
Lu Xiao: “……” Shen Zhao: “……”
The room was filled with a rich, woody incense. The lighting was dim and amber-hued, thick with an atmosphere of forced intimacy. Shen Zhao stood at the door, scanning the room, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
The décor was the height of decadence: black and gold walls, purple silk bedding, multi-layered crystal chandeliers, and wall carvings that invited suggestive thoughts. A sandalwood cabinet by the wall displayed various… unmentionable items.
“Considering you are a couple, we have specially arranged the ‘Mystic Luxury’ suite to ensure you have the most comfortable and extreme experience. Are you satisfied?”
Shen Zhao was at a total loss for words. Lu Xiao placed a hand on Shen Zhao’s waist and nodded with an air of doting indulgence. “Very thoughtful. Money well spent.”
The staff member bowed his head and slowly backed out. “Please enjoy your night. I will return in ten hours to escort you to the party.”
