Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 68.2
This constant string of problems was getting exhausting.
“It’s alright,” Shen Jueshu comforted her. At least now they had a clear idea of who their enemies were, and they’d made plenty of preparations. It wouldn’t be easy for anyone to break through.
“You must be tired. Try to rest early.” Sui Yu let out a soft sigh but quickly returned to her usual tone. She gently tucked Shen Jueshu into bed, lowered her hand over her eyes, and whispered softly, “Not just you, baby should sleep early too. That way, you’ll grow up healthy and strong.”
Her gentle, coaxing tone made Shen Jueshu smile despite herself. The corners of her lips curled up—Sui Yu was being so sweet, it was hard not to laugh.
Sui Yu turned off the lights and lay down beside her, wrapping her arms around Shen Jueshu. Her pheromones continued to soothe her gently, still worried that the events of the day might have left some impact on her.
The next morning, Shen Jueshu woke up before Sui Yu. She didn’t disturb her and quietly got out of bed. The investigation she’d ordered last night had already returned results. According to the report, Fu Xin and the others were now hiding in another safehouse.
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she considered the option of striking first.
“Darling…” Sui Yu murmured sleepily, wrapping her arms around Shen Jueshu from behind.
“Mm.” Shen Jueshu responded softly, setting her phone down and placing her hand over Sui Yu’s. “What do you want for breakfast?”
“Mustard greens porridge…” Sui Yu mumbled as she nuzzled into Shen Jueshu’s neck.
“Alright, I’ll have it sent over shortly.” Shen Jueshu turned to look at her and said gently, “The investigation is done. Qi Siyu is the so-called President.”
Sui Yu’s eyes flashed with surprise. “So we know where they are too.”
“Yes.” Shen Jueshu gave her the address.
Sui Yu immediately thought back to what Jiang Bosheng had done. The idea of using similar tactics flickered through her mind, but in the end, she dismissed it.
After what happened with Jiang Bosheng, Qi Siyu and her group were undoubtedly more guarded now. Any reckless move might not work—and worse, it could stir up even more trouble. After all, this was still a world governed by law. If they failed to take her down, they’d only draw attention and risk being implicated themselves.
“But honestly, isn’t it strange?” Sui Yu frowned tightly. “Could it be that Qi Siyu really did all of this just because she liked you?”
Shen Jueshu was the heroine of a novel—but for someone to fall so deeply into obsession that they’d enter the book world just to be with her? That level of delusion was hard to wrap her head around.
And even knowing Shen Jueshu was already in a relationship, Qi Siyu still tried to eliminate Sui Yu just to take her place. That woman was undeniably dangerous—completely fixated.
“She won’t get the chance,” Shen Jueshu said coldly, her voice laced with icy determination.
“Mm.” Sui Yu curled into her arms again and changed the subject. “By the way, should we tell your parents about the baby yet?”
Since they found out about the pregnancy, they still hadn’t told Shen’s parents.
Shen Jueshu paused for a moment. “Not yet. Let’s wait until the pregnancy is more stable.”
It had only been a little over a month. Telling them now might be too early. Besides, if they got too excited, they might insist the couple move back in with them—and that was the last thing they needed right now.
“Alright,” Sui Yu agreed without hesitation. She always listened when it came to Shen Jueshu.
Meanwhile, elsewhere…
Nearly everything breakable in the room had already been smashed to pieces. Qi Siyu stood among the wreckage, her expression twisted with rage. A long gash still ran down her face, not fully healed. It was a deep wound, and even with advanced medication, her recovery had been slow.
“President… please calm down. He’s dead now,” A’Jing said cautiously from the side.
“Calm down? How do you expect me to calm down?!” Qi Siyu snapped in fury. If she hadn’t dodged in time, it wouldn’t have just been a scar on her face!
“He’s dead? That bastard got off easy!” she growled through clenched teeth. “He dared to betray me—if he were still alive, I’d make him pay a thousand times over!”
A-Jing said nothing more. His expression was unreadable, showing no sorrow or sentiment for their fallen comrades. Not even a flicker of emotion crossed his face.
“…Forget it. Maybe it’s better that he’s dead,” Qi Siyu muttered bitterly. “Saves me the time and trouble of dealing with him.”
But the moment she thought of Shen Jueshu being pregnant with Sui Yu’s child, her rage returned in full force. How could this happen?
Even in death, Sui Yu still found a way to disgust her. Just wait—one day, she swore, she’d feed Sui Yu’s ashes to the dogs.
Jiang Bosheng was dead.
But he wasn’t even granted the dignity of a proper burial. His body had been blown apart—scattered in pieces. It was the elderly couple of the Jiang family who were forced to collect the remains. Jiang Siyue didn’t show her face even once.
Everything that had happened recently had finally severed whatever lingering ties Jiang Siyue had to the Jiang family. Even toward the two elders, she kept things formal—sending money home each month to fulfill her duty of support, but never once visiting them again.
With Jiang Bosheng gone and the company embroiled in a massive tax evasion scandal, the Jiang Group was teetering on the edge. Not even the old patriarch returning to take charge could stop the collapse. Shen Jueshu and Li Jiang hadn’t kicked them while they were down—but just because they didn’t, didn’t mean others didn’t seize the opportunity. Even a dying camel is bigger than a horse. There was still plenty left to strip from the Jiang family’s legacy.
The fall was swift.
In the blink of an eye, the Jiang Group was finished—vanishing from Linhai’s business world.
Jiang Siyue couldn’t even explain what she felt anymore. Her sister’s death had finally been avenged… and yet, all she felt was emptiness.
She looked up at Li Jiang, eyes rimmed red. “Still… no word from Ayu?”
Li Jiang hesitated. She didn’t know what to say.
Her silence said more than words ever could.
Jiang Siyue’s expression darkened, her hope quietly slipping away.
Meanwhile, the woman in question—Sui Yu—was in Shen Jueshu’s office, carefully reviewing financial statements, trying her best to lighten Shen Jueshu’s workload.
Shen Jueshu looked at her, focused and serious, and couldn’t help but smile.
“You don’t need to worry about this much longer,” she said gently. “I’ve already started searching for a competent manager to take over.”
At those words, Sui Yu’s eyes lit up.
She’d been hoping for this for a long time—someone to take on part of Shen Jueshu’s burdens.
“That’ll help a lot! At least now you won’t have to push yourself so hard anymore,” Sui Yu said, relieved.
“Mhm,” Shen Jueshu replied softly.
Just then, the receptionist called the internal line: Qi Siyu had arrived.
The name made both Shen Jueshu and Sui Yu exchange a glance, silently calculating the odds of catching her right there and then. But after a brief pause, they dismissed the idea.
Qi Siyu had access to a high-level system. Their rings might not be enough to suppress her abilities. If they failed, she could escape—and they’d lose their chance.
So Shen Jueshu brought Sui Yu along as she headed to the reception room.
The moment they saw Qi Siyu, they were both slightly taken aback. Her face was badly scarred—practically disfigured.
Qi Siyu looked back at Shen Jueshu, and Sui Yu wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination, but it seemed like there was… a hint of hurt in her eyes.
Hurt?
Why would Qi Siyu feel hurt toward Shen Jueshu? What was Shen Jueshu to her—a parent? A guardian?
Shen Jueshu, for her part, completely ignored the scars on Qi Siyu’s face. She didn’t even bother with a polite comment. Her voice was flat as she asked, “President Qi, what brings you here this time?”
She sat down, elegantly crossing one leg over the other, her fingers lightly tapping her knee.
Qi Siyu’s expression shifted subtly at the indifference. Her eyes grew even redder, her gaze softening like a wounded child ignored by a parent—on the verge of tears.
Sui Yu: “…”
This woman’s seriously disturbed. Who just throws out expressions like that at random people?
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Her expression stayed cold and unreadable. She gave Qi Siyu nothing—not a flicker of concern.
Qi Siyu’s eyes were rimmed red, but the hatred within them had only grown stronger. Her hand, hanging by her side, was clenched tightly into a fist, and her jaw was so tense from biting down that it appeared rigid.
She began to consider another possibility. If Shen Jueshu was being so disobedient now, then perhaps… she should just create a more obedient version of Shen Jueshu?
The more she entertained this idea, the more plausible it seemed. That version of Shen Jueshu would belong to her entirely—and that damned bastard would no longer exist.
Longing for that beautiful fantasy began to shine in her eyes. The deeper she thought about it, the more convinced she became that it was the perfect solution.
By then, there would be no Sui Yu. There would only be her.
Qi Siyu suddenly fell silent. Sui Yu furrowed her brow subtly, unsure of what despicable scheme this woman was now concocting.
As for Shen Jueshu, she stared coldly at Qi Siyu, a faint sneer tugging at the corner of her lips.
Unbelievable. Truly unbelievable. She, Shen Jueshu, had actually misjudged someone so completely.
Pressing a hand to her forehead, Shen Jueshu gently massaged her temples. The murderous intent in her heart became increasingly difficult to suppress. She may have been blind once, but that didn’t mean she would let herself be manipulated.
The stabbing pain in her head grew more intense. She applied slightly more pressure with her fingers, and the once-fragmented memories that had been flashing through her mind began to slow down, allowing her to see more clearly.
And the more she saw, the more she realized just how blind she had been back then.
“President Shen, are you alright?” Sui Yu looked at her with concern, anxiety flickering in her eyes—though she couldn’t show it too openly in front of Qi Siyu.
Shen Jueshu turned to Sui Yu, her eyes briefly clouded before regaining clarity. “It’s nothing. Just a bit of a headache,” she replied coolly. Then she turned to Qi Siyu, her gaze icy. “President Qi, if you have no further business here, please leave. I’m not feeling well and can’t be a good host.”
With that, she stood and walked away without giving Qi Siyu a chance to utter another word. If she had to hear even one more sentence from that woman, Shen Jueshu wasn’t sure she could continue suppressing the urge to kill.
Seeing Shen Jueshu leave, Sui Yu of course followed right after. But just as she reached the door, Qi Siyu suddenly called out to her.
“What is it?” Sui Yu turned around, wearing the polite, professional smile that Qin Qing always kept on her face.
Qi Siyu looked at the rather plain-looking assistant in front of her and slowly smiled. “I just wanted to ask a favor. I was quite surprised when I found out President Shen was pregnant. I figured she might not know this, but it’s important to take folic acid in the early stages of pregnancy. So I had some high-quality folic acid imported from overseas. I’d like you to give it to her.”
As she spoke, she pulled a small bottle from her pocket. It bore no label or product information—looking more like an unlicensed drug than anything trustworthy.
Sui Yu frowned. “President Qi, it’s not that I don’t want to help, but there’s no label or documentation on this. I really can’t give this to President Shen.”
Qi Siyu then pulled out a card from her pocket. “There’s ten million yuan on this. No password. If you just put the supplement into President Shen’s drinking water, the money’s yours.”
She smiled, as if certain that this young assistant would be swayed. After all, ten million yuan was more than she could ever hope to earn in a lifetime.
“Don’t worry—it won’t harm her. If it did, I wouldn’t entrust it to you. Surely, you can tell how much I care about President Shen. This is only meant to help the baby in her womb. And as the heir to the Qi family, do you really think I’d do something that hurts others with no benefit to myself?”
Sui Yu looked at the bottle, then at the card in Qi Siyu’s hand. Her eyes revealed a flicker of hesitation.
As expected.
A subtle, almost imperceptible smirk curved Qi Siyu’s lips. In the face of money and power, human morality was worth nothing.
“Are you really okay?” Sui Yu asked, her tone filled with uncertainty.
“I swear on my character,” Qi Siyu replied with a gentle smile.
Sui Yu appeared thoroughly shaken. Her gaze lingered on the card in Qi Siyu’s hand, eyes flickering with heat. After a quick glance around, she swiftly snatched the bottle and the card, shielding them with a folder pressed to her chest. She said curtly, “Then I’ll be going.”
“Alright,” Qi Siyu replied, still smiling. But in her eyes, only mockery remained.
Apart from that untouchable one, everyone else was just as filthy as ants—unable to resist even the smallest temptation.
Sui Yu returned to Shen Jueshu’s office, carrying the bottle. Shen Jueshu looked up at her.
“What took you so long?”
Sui Yu’s expression darkened. She lowered the folder shielding her chest and placed both the small bottle and the card on the desk in front of Shen Jueshu. Her voice was low and serious: “Qi Siyu stopped me. She had something to say.”
She then recounted every word of her conversation with Qi Siyu, her eyes burning with rising anger.
“That woman is absolutely vile!”
What if—just what if—Qi Siyu had approached someone else instead of her? Would her scheme have succeeded?
Shen Jueshu’s expression remained unchanged as she listened. She had anticipated that Qi Siyu would try something eventually, but she hadn’t expected her to act so hastily.
She picked up the small bottle, opened the cap, and poured out a single white tablet. The moment she saw it, her expression turned ice-cold. With a sharp motion, she crushed the tablet between her fingers, reducing it to powder. Her body trembled slightly with fury.
“You—what’s wrong? Do you know what it is?” Sui Yu asked, concerned. Shen Jueshu’s reaction was clearly out of the ordinary.
Shen Jueshu took a deep breath and lifted her gaze to Sui Yu. Her lips parted a few times, but no words came out. A complicated look flashed in her eyes.
“What is it?” Sui Yu asked again, unsettled by the complexity in Shen Jueshu’s expression. She wasn’t sure what she was afraid of—but in that moment, a sense of dread washed over her.
Shen Jueshu shook her head and said softly, “I’m not entirely sure yet. I’ll explain when the time is right, alright?”
The chaotic memories in her mind still gave her a splitting headache. She didn’t even know how to begin explaining it all to Sui Yu.
Hearing this, Sui Yu frowned but didn’t press further. Instead, she picked up the bottle and said, “I’ll have Xia Ju and the others analyze it—see what’s actually in this thing.”
“There’s no need,” Shen Jueshu said coldly. “I may already know what it does. Leave it here. When the time is right, it might just be the bait we need to lure her in.”
Sui Yu grew even more confused. How could Shen Jueshu determine what the drug was, just by looking?
“Come here,” Shen Jueshu said softly.
Sui Yu blinked in surprise but obediently walked over.
“Drop the disguise,” Shen Jueshu added.
Sui Yu complied.
As the illusion faded, Shen Jueshu wrapped her arms around Sui Yu’s waist and rested her face gently against her abdomen, murmuring, “Sui Yu… if one day you find out that all your misfortunes may somehow trace back to me—would you hate me for it?”
Sui Yu didn’t quite understand. She looked down at Shen Jueshu’s head resting on her stomach. Her long, silky black hair spilled across her back—so thick and fine that Sui Yu couldn’t even see her scalp.
Her brow furrowed. “It’s related to you? Did you do it?”
She paused to think. Shen Jueshu was the protagonist of this novel, so in a way, of course the Sui family’s misfortunes were linked to her. But related didn’t mean at fault. Why would she hold it against her?
She reached up and wrapped her arms around Shen Jueshu’s head, fingers gently stroking the sleek strands of hair. In a soft voice, she said, “Shen Jueshu, don’t think so little of me. I’m not that unreasonable.”
Even if she acted immature in front of Shen Jueshu sometimes, she had her own thoughts, her own clarity. She wasn’t someone who’d get angry so easily.
Hearing her words, Shen Jueshu’s eyes curved into a faint smile against Sui Yu’s body—but the corners of her mouth still held a trace of bitter sorrow.
She knew. She knew that her puppy was someone who could understand reason. But just because she knew didn’t mean she wasn’t afraid.
She pulled Sui Yu even closer, inhaling the scent that mingled with her own. After so many moments of intimacy, their pheromones had long blended to the point where it was impossible to tell them apart. Just one whiff was enough to know who her partner was. The territorial claim was unmistakable.
She recalled the uncertainty on Sui Yu’s face earlier and glanced at the unmarked bottle on the table. Slowly, she closed her eyes. If their roles were reversed—if she were the assistant and Sui Yu were the one acting so vaguely—how would she feel?
She would be furious. Absolutely furious. A partner may have their secrets, but when those secrets affected both of them, it became a lack of honesty.
“Sui Yu,” Shen Jueshu whispered, “what if I told you… Qi Siyu was someone I raised. What would you do?”
