Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 59.1
Upon hearing those words, Sui Yu was completely stunned. Her brows gradually furrowed tighter and tighter, and the look she cast toward that bouquet of flowers seemed like she wanted to shred it to pieces. Clenching her teeth slightly, she demanded, “Who sent this?”
Who had the audacity to try and steal what was hers?
Seeing Sui Yu’s expression, the receptionist lowered her voice and said, “It—it was President Qi from yesterday.”
Sui Yu fell silent.
So that’s why she smiled like that yesterday—she had come just to provoke her!
Before Sui Yu could order the flowers thrown out, Shen Jueshu spoke up first.
“Throw the flowers into the trash bin outside. From now on, any flowers sent to me—refuse them all.”
Upon hearing this, Sui Yu grew anxious, but only for a moment. Then she quickly calmed down. In the future, if she wanted to give flowers, she would simply bring them to Shen Jueshu herself. Why bother going through the receptionist?
“Yes, President Shen,” the receptionist responded immediately, obediently picking up the large bouquet of roses. It looked rather heavy, and she struggled a bit as she carried them outside.
As that glaring bouquet disappeared from view, Sui Yu scoffed coldly. Shen Jueshu liked her—there was no way she would let anyone else get the wrong idea!
Watching Sui Yu’s jealous expression, Shen Jueshu smiled softly and took her hand. Since Sui Yu gave her a strong sense of security, she would naturally return it in full.
When Qi Siyu found out that the flowers she sent had all been rejected, her face darkened with rage. Her anger was directed partly at Shen Jueshu, and partly at Sui Yu.
A fire burned in her eyes. Everyone around her shrank back at the sight, none daring to trigger her temper.
“Find someone else. Re-establish contact with Sui He for work matters!” Qi Siyu said grimly. If they didn’t want to be associated with her, then she would make sure they couldn’t shake her off.
“Yes, ma’am!” someone responded immediately.
A cold smirk curled at Qi Siyu’s lips. Just wait—one day, she would have Shen Jueshu for herself.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Sui Yu received a call from Yang-jie, one of the Maintainers. When she heard that Yang-jie wanted to invite her for afternoon tea, she was momentarily stunned.
She had thought that after the Maintainers left, they wouldn’t contact her again and would instead spend their remaining time in peace.
Sui Yu told Shen Jueshu about it. Shen Jueshu originally wanted to accompany her, but an important meeting held her back. In the end, she reluctantly told Sui Yu to bring a few more bodyguards along.
The way Shen Jueshu looked at her with worry was just like watching a baby who had just learned to walk—unsteady and liable to fall at any moment—nervously keeping an eye on her from the sidelines.
Amused by her own imagination, Sui Yu chuckled and kissed the corner of Shen Jueshu’s lips to reassure her. “Don’t worry. I’ll tell you everything when I get back.”
“Okay,” Shen Jueshu replied. This time, her sixth sense didn’t feel any particular unease. Hopefully, that meant there wouldn’t be any danger.
Sui Yu arrived at the café where she had agreed to meet with Sister Yang.
Since it was during working hours, the place was relatively quiet. As soon as Sui Yu stepped inside, she spotted Sister Yang sitting in a corner. She walked over and sat down across from her, cutting straight to the point.
“What did you want to see me about?”
Sister Yang looked up at the Alpha in front of her—a character who was originally supposed to be a tragic supporting role, now turned into the beloved of the female lead. Meanwhile, Ding Qisi, who was supposed to be the female lead’s destined match, had ended up as a prisoner.
“I asked you here not just to thank you both for keeping your word,” she said, “but also because there’s something important I need to give you. Someday, you might even thank us for it.”
Sui Yu studied Sister Yang’s calm expression. After a brief silence, she asked, “What is it?”
Sister Yang pulled two jade rings from her handbag. “We’ve been dealing with the Traversers for a long time. We can’t just keep getting pushed around by their systems, can we? These—are what give us a fighting chance.”
Sui Yu’s gaze fell on the two seemingly ordinary jade rings. Was it really possible that such plain-looking items could counter a system?
“How do they work?”
Sister Yang picked up one of the rings. “Once you bind it to yourself, you can activate it at will. When it’s not in use, it looks like an ordinary piece of jewelry. But when activated, it can limit some of the Traversers’ abilities.”
Sui Yu paused. “You’re giving these to us? Why?”
Sister Yang smiled slowly. “First, I think you two are decent people. Second, because you honored your promise. If you hadn’t, there’s no way I’d be handing these over. And third…” She chuckled softly. “Well, let’s just say: anything that gives the Traversers trouble is worth doing.”
“We’re going to die anyway—we might as well make them pay something for it. No one should be allowed to act as arrogantly as they do.”
Sui Yu suddenly laughed. It was that last sentence that made her believe Sister Yang. The Maintainers and the Traversers were natural enemies—of course they wouldn’t want the other side to have the upper hand.
“So, how do I bind it?” she asked, curious. After all, there were no visible buttons.
“Here.” Sister Yang pointed to a particularly smooth spot on the ring. “Press your thumbprint here. You’ll see a prompt in your mind asking whether you want to bind it. Once you confirm, the ring will be yours to control.”
Sui Yu followed her instructions, and sure enough, a light screen appeared in her mind, prompting her to bind the ring. She selected “yes,” and immediately sensed a subtle connection to it, as if she could control it with her thoughts. She willed it to activate—but felt nothing unusual.
“That’s it? Just turn it on?” she asked, slightly puzzled.
“Yes,” Sister Yang replied. “Once activated, the system functions of any Traverser within ten meters of you will be partially disabled.”
Sui Yu chose to believe her, at least for now. Then she deactivated the ring and held it in her hand. “But if we wear this out in the open, won’t the Traversers know it’s something meant to restrict their abilities?”
How would they catch their enemies off guard then?
“You can customize its appearance into any piece of jewelry you like—to help conceal it,” Sister Yang explained.
“Oh,” Sui Yu nodded, finally understanding.
Sister Yang looked at her and smiled gently. “Good luck. This might really be the last time we meet.”
With that, she stood and left without looking back.
Sui Yu watched her go, feeling a heaviness settle in her chest. After all, people like them never even had the right to choose their own lives.
She looked down and closed her fingers around the two rings. Her heart felt tight, but she knew—life never promised that everything would go the way you wanted.
Sui Yu left the café. Though they had called it “afternoon tea,” she hadn’t even had a single cup of coffee.
By the time she returned to Sui He, her mood was already back in check. She didn’t want to bring any negative emotions to Shen Jueshu if she could help it.
When she got back, Shen Jueshu’s meeting still hadn’t ended. Sui Yu didn’t head up to the lab, either. Instead, she waited for her in Shen Jueshu’s office. Eventually, boredom crept in, and she began flipping through the reports scattered across the desk.
Back when they were in the hospital, she’d been forced to learn a bit of this stuff. Now, reading through these reports, at least she didn’t feel completely lost—though she still understood only half and wasn’t particularly interested.
When Shen Jueshu returned, the first thing she saw was Sui Yu sitting in her chair, one hand propping up her head, the other holding a file folder, her eyes half-closed. She looked like she was about to doze off.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Falling asleep while reading reports?
She walked over, but before she could say anything, Sui Yu seemed to sense her presence and instantly opened her eyes wide, lifting her head to look at her—smiling brightly.
Seeing her like that, Shen Jueshu stepped closer and asked softly, “Why are you smiling so happily?”
As she drew nearer, that cool, elegant scent of hers became more prominent. Sui Yu’s eyes lit up with laughter, and she set the file aside, wrapping her arms around Shen Jueshu’s waist. Looking up, she said, “I can’t help smiling when I see you.”
Now that she was in a relationship, Sui Yu finally understood why couples could be so sweet and clingy.
Shen Jueshu looked down at her gentle features, reaching out to softly brush her thumb across Sui Yu’s cheek. “So, what did Sister Yang want this time?”
Under her tender touch, Sui Yu squinted slightly, enjoying the warmth Shen Jueshu brought. Her voice softened. “She gave us two jade rings. Said they can suppress part of the system’s functionality.”
“Hmm?” Shen Jueshu gave a soft, curious hum. Clearly, she hadn’t expected the Maintainers to actually help them like that.
Sui Yu repeated Sister Yang’s three reasons for giving them the rings, then released her hold around Shen Jueshu’s waist and took the two jade rings out. “These.”
Lowering her gaze, Shen Jueshu examined the rings in Sui Yu’s palm. Just like Sui Yu’s initial reaction, they looked completely ordinary.
Sui Yu picked up one of Shen Jueshu’s thumbs and pressed it against a ring. “Choose to bind it.”
Following her instructions, Shen Jueshu completed the process. Soon, she too could feel the subtle mental connection.
“If you choose to activate it,” Sui Yu explained, “it can suppress certain functions of the system. And you can change its appearance to suit your taste, so it works as a disguise too.”
Just as she finished speaking, the ring in Shen Jueshu’s hand transformed into a simple silver bracelet on her wrist. It made her fair, slender wrist look even more delicate and refined.
“Beautiful,” Sui Yu said sincerely, completely smitten. Her wife was flawless in every way.
Shen Jueshu glanced at her, the smile at her lips deepening. “In that case, we can keep them deactivated during normal times and only activate them when necessary—to catch them off guard.”
“That’s exactly what I was thinking!” Sui Yu’s eyes lit up with joy—they were perfectly in sync.
Shen Jueshu stroked her face gently, then pulled her up and sat down in the chair herself.
Sui Yu: “…”
She sighed dramatically, then—without a shred of shame—sat right on Shen Jueshu’s lap, hooking her arms around her neck and giving her a flirtatious look.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Irritated and amused at the same time.
But their peaceful days didn’t last long.
Just two days later, they were both stunned by a trending topic on the hot search.
When Sui Yu saw it clearly and confirmed that the two people in the video were indeed who she thought they were, she immediately called Jiang Siyue.
“Care to explain what’s going on with that hot search?” she asked. She hadn’t seen it wrong—the two people kissing in the parking lot video were definitely Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang!
As soon as Jiang Siyue picked up the phone, she knew exactly why Sui Yu was calling. Her heart skipped a beat. Had she… forgotten to tell her about what happened between her and Li Jiang?
She glanced at Li Jiang. Their eyes met, and in that instant, she saw a flicker of nervousness in Li Jiang’s gaze. With a small sigh, Jiang Siyue answered, her voice lacking confidence:
“Didn’t you tell me to be more proactive?”
Sui Yu nearly choked.
Yes, she had told Jiang Siyue to be more proactive—but she hadn’t expected her to move this fast! It hadn’t even been that long, and she’d already sealed the deal?!
Caught kissing in a parking lot. Trending on social media. Relationship exposed.
Sui Yu was in no way prepared to see this full-package, one-stop love service!
“How did you even get caught on camera?” she asked.
Speaking of which, Jiang Siyue grew even more flustered.
“I—I just couldn’t help myself… kissed her on impulse…”
She had even checked the surroundings at the time—there hadn’t seemed to be any paparazzi around!
Sui Yu rubbed her forehead and eventually hung up. Looking at the online buzz, it wasn’t actually that bad. After all, Jiang Siyue had never debuted with a squeaky-clean image, so her fans hadn’t set overly high expectations for her. On top of that, there was the earlier engagement incident, the blog post Li Jiang had made, and various other things—all of which had gradually raised her fans’ tolerance to a surprisingly high level.
Reading through the long threads of comments filled with blessings for Jiang Siyue and Li Jiang, Sui Yu let out a quiet sigh.
“These two really turned misfortune into a blessing, huh.”
Shen Jueshu, sitting beside her and reviewing a report on her tablet, didn’t look quite as relaxed.
“But we still shouldn’t let our guard down. Some paid trolls are targeting Siyue—aggressively.”
The way they were going after her… it was as if they wanted to completely destroy Jiang Siyue’s reputation.
Sui Yu leaned in to look at the screen.
“Can we trace who’s behind it?”
“I’ve already had someone start looking into it,” Shen Jueshu replied. “But it’ll take a little time.”
While they were busy worrying on their end, Jiang Siyue—after hanging up the phone—turned to Li Jiang.
“Maybe we should invite Ah Yu and the others out for a proper meal?”
It felt like the right thing to do—something official.
“Sure. Whenever works for you,” Li Jiang nodded, still visibly awkward around her. It was clear she hadn’t fully adapted to this new identity just yet.
Seeing her hesitation, Jiang Siyue simply pulled out her phone to start looking at restaurants, while Li Jiang began handling the public chatter online. Then she hesitated and asked,
“Are you planning to go public now?”
After all, the kiss had been caught clearly on video—both of their faces were unmistakable. Denial wasn’t even an option.
“Oh, that?” Jiang Siyue shrugged. “Sure, let’s make it official.”
She wasn’t the type to hide after doing something bold. If no one had caught them, they would’ve just kept dating in peace. But since they had been caught, there was no reason to downplay or deny it—especially after her manager texted her saying it was her choice.
She immediately knew that message came thanks to her sister-in-law’s backing. As long as she dared to go public, the company would handle the rest.
“Are you sure this won’t hurt your career?” Li Jiang asked, a trace of worry in her voice. She didn’t want to be a burden.
Jiang Siyue looked up at her.
“And if it did, would you break up with me?”
“No! Of course not,” Li Jiang answered quickly, lowering her voice. She still felt guilty at the idea of negatively affecting Jiang Siyue’s career.
“Then don’t worry,” Jiang Siyue said with a teasing smile. “You’re not getting a chance to break up with me.”
She lifted her phone to show her something and added,
“And you don’t have to worry about my career. As long as I don’t act like a complete mess, my fans don’t mind me being in a serious relationship.”
Plus, Li Jiang was impressive in her own right—elegant and well-spoken. If she were someone entirely out of Jiang Siyue’s league, fans probably would have gone after her with pitchforks, maybe even demanding someone cut open her brain to remove the “lovesick” part.
Li Jiang picked up her phone and saw that Jiang Siyue had already posted a blog—and tagged her.
The caption read:
“I want you now.”
The words hit her hard.
Li Jiang’s nose stung, and her eyes grew a little red. She realized this was a direct response to the post she herself had written earlier.
“Are you sure you don’t want to repost it?” Jiang Siyue asked.
“Mm.” Li Jiang nodded softly, then tapped “repost” and added an image.
Once she saw it, Jiang Siyue opened the photo and was instantly stunned.
It was a picture from high school—a candid shot of her sitting offstage during a break.
The photo had been framed so beautifully that it captured all of Jiang Siyue’s charm. A soft light fell on half her body, the interplay of brightness and shadow adding a moody, artistic atmosphere.
“You…” Jiang Siyue was speechless.
She had secretly taken this photo—and kept it all this time?
Li Jiang was clearly embarrassed, her ears burning red. She didn’t say a word.
Jiang Siyue smiled, lips curving with brilliant warmth. She didn’t tease her.
