Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 48.2
A love triangle among the elite!
Both Sui Yu and Jiang Siyue stared blankly at the headline, as if doubting their own eyes.
Jiang Siyue tapped her fingertip against the headline on the phone screen and looked hesitantly at Shen Jueshu, stammering, “Th-this name… it’s saying me and… Li Jiang, right?”
She was trying to confirm it carefully, like a frightened rabbit.
Shen Jueshu handed her the phone directly, letting her open the post and see it for herself.
Jiang Siyue: “…”
Before she could respond, Sui Yu had already pulled out her own phone to check the trending post. The reason it had blown up so much was that someone had insulted Jiang Siyue, claiming that no Alpha would ever want an Omega like her—she was only fit to be with some Beta with no pheromones. That kind of degrading comment had gotten a lot of traction, as if Jiang Siyue didn’t even deserve to be with an Alpha.
But then, Li Jiang had chosen to directly repost the most-liked of those comments. She attached her verified top-tier Alpha certification, along with a series of fan photos showing her at various Jiang Siyue events. Her caption read:
“I’m an Alpha. I like her very much. She’s the one who doesn’t want me.”
Sui Yu was speechless after seeing it.
Jiang Siyue hesitated a moment, then finally tapped into the post. There she saw photo after photo of Li Jiang attending her events. Despite the chaos and blinding lights of the crowds, Li Jiang always stood out as the brightest presence in the scene.
She was holding two light sticks in her hands, with more fan gear wrapped around her wrists and neck. The image was completely unlike her usual cool and composed appearance. It actually reminded Jiang Siyue of when Sui Yu had first come to support her at a competition.
Jiang Siyue: “…” Wasn’t Li Jiang wearing her tailored suit and heels the last time she saw her? When did she start dressing like this?
What she didn’t know was that Li Jiang had spent a long time scouring fan forums and group chats for these pictures—images taken by Siyue’s fans because they thought Li Jiang looked striking in the crowd.
Still holding the phone, Jiang Siyue handed it back to Shen Jueshu, looking dazed. She murmured, “What does she mean by this?”
Was she offended by the people insulting her? Otherwise, why would she repost that comment and make such a bold statement?
Was she trying to say that Jiang Siyue wasn’t undesired by Alphas—but that she herself didn’t care for them?
“You want to know?” Shen Jueshu’s voice was soft. She tapped a few times on her phone, and suddenly the ringing of a call echoed through the room.
“Just ask her directly,” she said meaningfully.
Jiang Siyue: “…”
Sui Yu: “…”
All three pairs of eyes landed on Shen Jueshu’s phone. Soon enough, the call was answered.
“Hello,” came Li Jiang’s voice—slightly tired, but unmistakably hers.
Shen Jueshu raised an eyebrow slightly and said, “I saw you on the trending list. What made you say something like that?”
Li Jiang was silent for a moment, then replied, “No matter what, Jiang Siyue isn’t someone they can mock or slander however they please.”
Shen Jueshu glanced at Jiang Siyue, then asked calmly, “Didn’t you say you didn’t like her? Why lie online?”
Li Jiang fell quiet again. Then she asked, “You’re acting strange today. Why do you suddenly care so much? Enough to call me about it, no less.”
Sui Yu: “…” She’s sharp. If I had her sense of alertness, Ding Qisi never would’ve ambushed me…
Jiang Siyue kept her eyes lowered, lost in thought.
Shen Jueshu replied coolly, “It’s rare to see your name in the spotlight like this. I was curious.”
Li Jiang: “…”
She sighed, a bit helpless. “It’s just a PR move. Conveniently, it also shuts up the people trying to use this to drag her down.”
“You realize,” Shen Jueshu said, “this kind of post makes it look like you really do like Jiang Siyue. Aren’t you worried she’ll misunderstand—and start chasing you again?”
“She won’t.” There was a soft sigh on the other end, and then Li Jiang’s voice came through, gentler now. “I think she knows what she wants now. She’s living freely, confidently. When she was chasing after me, she wasn’t happy.”
“Oh?” Shen Jueshu said flatly. “She’s supposed to be marrying into the Li family. Now you suddenly come out with this and make such a big scene—how is she supposed to go through with the engagement?”
Wasn’t this just sabotaging Jiang Siyue’s marriage?
Li Jiang paused, then said, “I don’t think she likes that guy. Maybe she’ll even thank me.” Then she hung up, as if afraid that staying on the line any longer would expose more of her thoughts.
Shen Jueshu stared at the phone, then turned to Jiang Siyue and said, calmly, “There. I asked for you.”
Jiang Siyue: “…”
Sui Yu also looked speechless. She glanced back at her phone and saw that quite a few people were imitating Li Jiang’s move—posting Alpha certificates and expressing their admiration for Jiang Siyue. In that light, Li Jiang’s actions didn’t seem so outrageous after all. It actually did resemble a devoted fan trying to support their idol.
Eventually, the two of them left Jiang Siyue’s room to let her process this unexpected move from Li Jiang.
After all, given Li Jiang’s aloof personality, the fact that she wasn’t taking the chance to kick Siyue when she was down was already surprising. Instead, she’d gone so far as to use her own reputation to try and improve Siyue’s image.
“Can someone like Li Jiang still find a partner after this?” Sui Yu muttered, frustrated. How was she supposed to keep holding a grudge now? Wouldn’t that make her seem ungrateful?
Shen Jueshu considered, then said, “Finding someone she genuinely likes might be difficult. But casual flings? No problem. She has the status—plenty of people would line up for the chance, feelings or not.”
Sui Yu: “…” But Li Jiang didn’t even seem like someone who has casual flings…
Well, it was her choice. No one had forced her to do this. Whatever consequences came next—she’d have to face them herself.
Meanwhile, just after hanging up the call, Li Jiang’s office door slammed open and in came Li Yi, her older sister. She dropped a phone onto the desk and pointed furiously at the trending topic.
“This is what you call ‘not liking her’?!”
Faced with her sister’s fierce energy, Li Jiang remained silent, lips sealed. She had known what might happen after posting that update, but she hadn’t expected the reaction to be this intense—Shen Jueshu calling her directly, and now her own sister barging in to confront her.
“Speak!” Li Yi snapped, her voice cold and commanding.
She was usually gentle, elegant like rippling autumn water—but when she got serious, it sent chills down everyone’s spine.
Li Jiang was no exception. At the sound of that voice, she flinched, like a scolded child. Lips pursed, she muttered, “I was just helping out… We were classmates, after all.”
Li Yi let out a cold laugh. “Classmates? Helping out?” She knocked her knuckles sharply on the desk. “Your idea of ‘helping’ is hijacking her engagement and making a public scene?!”
Declaring your feelings like that in front of the whole internet might as well be crashing the wedding. The media was already spinning out every possible version of this love triangle.
Li Jiang whispered, “I had it under control.”
“That is your idea of control?!” Li Yi’s voice rose as she knocked the desk harder. “The Li family, the Jiang family, and our own family are all in business together. You just slapped everyone in the face!”
Li Jiang said nothing more.
Seeing this, Li Yi sighed and finally softened her tone. Sitting down, she asked gently, “Why do this? If you don’t like her, then who she marries has nothing to do with you. But if you do like her, then what are you doing just standing here? If you love her, why not go win her back?”
Li Jiang frowned and looked down. “She’s doing well now. I shouldn’t disturb her.”
After their last encounter at the filming base, Li Jiang hadn’t appeared in front of Jiang Siyue again.
“But don’t you think what you’re doing now is a disturbance?”
Li Jiang couldn’t respond.
“Jiangjiang,” Li Yi said, voice softening a little, “if you really do like her, I support you going after her. Whether it’s the Li family or the Li family with the ‘e’ sound,”—she made a pointed distinction—“I believe the Jiang family can tell the difference when it comes to actual interests.”
Li Jiang turned her head to the side. “I’m not right for her.”
“You—” Li Yi nearly exploded. What does she mean she’s not right for her? Then who is?
Li Jiang sighed. “Sis, just stay out of this. There’s no possibility between us.”
She remembered what that bold, carefree girl had once said as a teenager—whoever she liked was destined to be cursed for eight lifetimes. And someone as dull as herself, how could she ever expect to be liked in return?
She looked down. She didn’t know why that girl had chased after her later, saying she liked her, but she’d never forgotten those earlier words: ‘Whoever I like would never like me back.’
And besides… the girl in front of her now wasn’t the same one in her memory.
Seeing her like this, Li Yi could only sigh and finally left without pressing further.
After her sister had gone, Li Jiang pulled out her phone and stared at the post she had made. Eventually, she shut her eyes, refusing to think about it any longer. What mattered now was cleaning up the mess she’d caused—
Back at home, after their return, Sui Yu’s leg was still recovering. Their housekeeper had already prepared a big pot of pork knuckle soup, saying, “You are what you eat.”
Sui Yu stared at the soup: “…”
Shen Jueshu acted like she didn’t see Sui Yu’s silent protest. She ladled a bowl and set it down in front of her with a gentle smile. “Drink some. It’ll help you heal faster.”
Sui Yu: “…”
As they settled back into the comfort of home, Sui Yu let out a relaxed sigh. “It really does feel good to be home.”
After everything that had happened on their trip, Sui Yu, who was already disinclined to move, had lost all desire to travel. All she wanted now was to stay in this familiar space and grow old with Shen Jueshu.
Shen Jueshu chuckled at her, but the smile faded into a hint of unease. Ever since Ding Qisi was arrested, the others had completely disappeared from their world. Even after returning to Linhai, there had been no further moves from their enemies.
It was quiet—too quiet.
“Wife,” Sui Yu suddenly said.
“Hmm?” Shen Jueshu looked over.
Sui Yu’s face turned serious. “Tell me honestly. Are you still being affected by the plot?”
Now that she had calmed down, she realized what she’d missed. Even though Shen Jueshu’s consciousness had awakened, she hadn’t fully escaped the control of the storyline. Otherwise, why would Ding Qisi say that Shen Jueshu had a “special” reaction to her?
In the original novel, that was how Shen Jueshu looked at Ding Qisi, too.
This realization made Sui Yu feel naïve. Awakening didn’t mean escaping. No wonder the woman from the Narrative Control Bureau said they couldn’t run. No wonder she had left so decisively.
Because she knew: the grip of the story couldn’t be broken so easily. If it could, the awakened wouldn’t choose death. But when you know the truth and still can’t change your fate—that’s the real despair.
Shen Jueshu was silent.
Seeing her reaction, Sui Yu took a deep breath.
Shen Jueshu’s hands, resting on her lap, slowly clenched. Was Sui Yu going to blame her for keeping it secret?
“Wife! You love me so much!” Sui Yu cried out emotionally.
Shen Jueshu was stunned. She hadn’t expected Sui Yu’s brain to work like that.
“Wuwuwu, why didn’t you tell me?” Sui Yu hugged her tightly. “If you didn’t say anything, I wouldn’t have even known you loved me this much—even while still being influenced by the plot!”
Hearing Sui Yu sniffling into her neck, Shen Jueshu belatedly felt her ears grow hot, the shame slowly creeping up her cheeks.
“…That’s enough,” Shen Jueshu said, feeling more flustered by the second. Having Sui Yu discover this made it feel even more embarrassing.
But Sui Yu only clung tighter. Knowing how deeply Shen Jueshu loved her made her heart melt—and ache a little. She also hated her past self for being too dense to see it sooner.
Shen Jueshu didn’t push her away. She gently stroked Sui Yu’s hair and said softly, “But I’m worried. What if I lose control completely someday?”
She could feel it. The longer she went without following the script, the stronger the pressure became.
Sui Yu lifted her head to look at her, then hesitated before suggesting, “What if we try following the story? Just a little. To see what happens.”
“Hm?” Shen Jueshu met her gaze.
Sui Yu’s eyes grew more focused. “What if going along with the plot throws it off? Confuses it?”
If that worked, maybe it could ease the grip on Shen Jueshu. Make her feel less controlled.
Shen Jueshu didn’t respond immediately, but the idea clearly got her thinking.
“…It won’t work for long.” She eventually replied. “Later in the story, I’m supposed to lock you in a basement for life… and be with Ding Qisi. That’s something I could never do.”
Sui Yu sighed heavily. “There must be some way to strip this ‘female lead’ identity off you.”
She frowned in frustration. It felt like an impossible puzzle.
Shen Jueshu gently massaged the frown from her brow and said quietly, “There’ll be a way.”
She wasn’t the kind to accept fate either.
Sui Yu rested her head on her collarbone and stubbornly said, “Let’s try it. Just once. See if anything changes.”
Hearing this, Shen Jueshu gave her a soft smile and agreed, “Okay.”
The next day was the grand finale of the show Jiang Siyue had joined. Though yesterday’s drama had dominated the headlines, both the Jiang and Li families remained silent, as if the engagement were still proceeding as planned.
Despite her injured leg, Sui Yu decided to attend the finale in person to support Siyue. While recovering in Nancheng, she’d planned to just watch the livestream, but now that she was back—how could she not be there?
It was the final round. Fans of every contestant were pulling out all the stops, cheering so loudly the arena shook. In the midst of this chaos, Sui Yu and Shen Jueshu stood quietly, a bit out of place.
Sui Yu felt awkward because of her leg—she couldn’t join the crowd in jumping and screaming.
Shen Jueshu simply didn’t fit this kind of setting. But she couldn’t let Sui Yu come alone, so here she was.
Standing there, surrounded by so much passion, Shen Jueshu finally understood why people fought to stand under the spotlight. It wasn’t just the money. It was the love—the adoration of so many people. That kind of energy was intoxicating.
Before the competition began, the finalists were interviewed. Usually, it was just a bit of trash talk—but when it came to Jiang Siyue, things took a turn.
“Yueyue, didn’t you say you were quitting the industry to get married? What are you doing here today?”
Jiang Siyue had fully recovered her spark. She glanced at the host and scoffed coldly. “So now quitting the industry or getting married… doesn’t require the person’s own knowledge or consent?”
“If I didn’t agree to it—then whoever made that decision can go get married themselves!”
