Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 45.2
Upon hearing that, Ding Qisi lunged forward, choking Sui Yu with both hands. Her eyes were bloodshot. “You thief! You stole what was mine! She was supposed to be with me!”
“I’m the one who truly matches her! And you—what are you? You deserve to be locked in a basement for life, rotting there even in death!”
“I am Shen Jueshu’s true Alpha! Her gland should carry my mark! You damn thief!”
If Shen Jueshu belonged to her, she could control her completely—through marking, she could make Shen Jueshu utterly dependent on her, unable to leave. She could manipulate her life, her desires, even her heat cycles.
But now, all of that had been stolen by this wretched woman. All that power, transferred to someone else. How could she not hate her?
Despite her reddened face and lack of oxygen, Sui Yu wanted to laugh. Desperately. She looked at Ding Qisi and choked out three words:
“You don’t deserve her.”
Even when reading the novel, she hadn’t liked this pairing. Ding Qisi, the “little wolfdog” who supposedly adored Shen Jueshu, was smart—too smart. After marking her, she’d secretly manipulated Shen Jueshu through her gland, deepening her obsession.
Other readers thought this was just passionate love—reasonable, considering the age gap. But Sui Yu had always wondered: If she truly loved Shen Jueshu so much, why couldn’t she see her insecurities?
Younger partners feel insecure—sure. But older ones do too. They carry burdens, responsibilities. If Ding Qisi really loved her, why didn’t she allow Shen Jueshu to mark her, to soothe her fears?
Sui Yu had never liked Ding Qisi. In fact, she wouldn’t even have paid so much attention to the story if the villain didn’t share her own name. She thought the entire novel took a nosedive because of this romance line—it could have been a strong, female-led story. But instead, near the end, they introduced Ding Qisi—a character who undermined the heroine, reducing her to a controlled Omega.
“I don’t deserve her?” Ding Qisi’s eyes blazed. “I’m the only one who does deserve her! I am her true Alpha!”
Sui Yu felt her vision darken, her ears ringing. But even on the verge of passing out, her gaze remained mocking. A person who approached love from a place of domination and control—had no right to speak of love at all.
That wasn’t love. It was just twisted obsession. Possessiveness.
Just when Sui Yu thought she might black out, the hands around her throat suddenly loosened. Air rushed back into her lungs, and she gasped, though her brain, starved of oxygen, remained dazed.
Ding Qisi grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look up. “Didn’t your mothers ever teach you not to steal from others, Sui Yu?”
Her bloodshot eyes focused on Ding Qisi’s face. Cold sweat poured down her brow as flashes of fractured images swept through her mind—too fast to grasp, too sharp to forget.
“That was never yours,” Sui Yu whispered. “She has her own will now. And she chose—she chose me.”
“And the person you’re talking about—she was just a soulless protagonist swept up by the plot.”
“You really don’t have the slightest awareness of your position,” Ding Qisi said with a cold, venomous smile.
Sui Yu let out a dry chuckle. “Even if I did, do you really think your attitude toward me would be any better?”
If that’s the case, why not hold onto her dignity?
Ding Qisi’s gaze flickered. She suddenly lowered her voice and asked, “Tell me, if you suddenly disappeared… do you think she’d fall in love with me again?”
Sui Yu’s brow furrowed instinctively. She looked closely at Ding Qisi’s face—but instead of panic, she felt a strange relief.
So Shen Jueshu was safe.
As long as she was safe, Sui Yu firmly believed that Shen Jueshu would find a way to rescue her. She had an unshakable faith in her.
“Why aren’t you answering me?” Ding Qisi leaned closer, forcing Sui Yu to look at her. Her eyes locked onto Sui Yu’s. “Do you think she’d fall for me again?!”
Sui Yu met her gaze, her voice cold and steady as she enunciated each word: “She. Will. Not.”
Ding Qisi’s expression changed—but then, as if remembering something, a strange smile twisted across her face. She looked at Sui Yu, her voice laced with amusement as she spoke again.
“You’re that confident? Then let me tell you about the first time she looked at me.”
“Our first meeting was in an elevator. I was inside. She was outside. When the doors opened and our eyes met, I saw it—that split second of stunned surprise in her eyes.”
“She looked at me differently—from the very first glance.”
In someone like Shen Jueshu’s eyes, a special first impression was practically a golden ticket to stand by her side.
Upon hearing this, Sui Yu’s expression tightened. She glared at Ding Qisi’s smug face, her chest rising and falling rapidly with emotion.
Seeing her like that, Ding Qisi laughed—finally feeling victorious. She took a syringe from the tray and injected it into Sui Yu’s arm. With a twisted smile, she leaned in close and whispered:
“Wait for my good news. I’ll let you see with your own eyes how she falls in love with me.”
The door shut behind her, and silence returned to the small room.
Sui Yu’s chest heaved. It wasn’t that she feared Shen Jueshu might actually fall for Ding Qisi—but she feared the underhanded methods Ding Qisi might use.
She scanned the room, her mind racing. She couldn’t just sit here and wait to die.
But whatever Ding Qisi had just injected into her… it was already taking effect. Her eyelids grew heavier by the second. No matter how hard she tried to fight it—even biting her own tongue to jolt her brain with pain—nothing worked.
Her eyes fell shut. Her consciousness slowly faded.
What she didn’t know was that once she fell asleep, the geranium-scented pheromones within her body began to grow unstable. They filled the room, surging and retreating like a balloon on the verge of bursting.
And no one knew what might happen if it really did burst.
—
After leaving the room, Ding Qisi approached a nearby machine and purged all traces of Sui Yu’s pheromones from herself. Just then, the doorbell rang.
Hearing the sound, she smiled faintly—barely noticeable—and walked over to answer it while casually tapping open a video on her phone, appearing nonchalant.
The door opened. Two police officers stood outside.
Ding Qisi’s expression shifted to one of confusion and faint nervousness—just the right amount, as though she were simply an innocent young woman suddenly confronted by the authorities, unsure of what was going on but anxious all the same.
The officers showed her their credentials. One of them said, “We’d like to come in and ask you a few questions, if that’s alright.”
Ding Qisi glanced at their badges, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded. Her behavior showed no visible flaws.
Once inside, the officers got straight to the point. “We understand you work for Suihe Group?”
“Yes,” Ding Qisi nodded honestly.
“Then why did you come back so suddenly this time? As far as we know, you just started your internship at the company. It’s not even holiday season yet. So, did you take time off? What was the reason for your leave?”
Hearing the question, Ding Qisi hesitated slightly, then asked cautiously, “Officer, did something happen? Why are you asking me all this?”
“Miss Ding, please just answer our questions truthfully,” another officer spoke gently, but there was a subtle pressure in his tone—clearly warning her not to ask too much.
Ding Qisi paused for a moment, then said, “Yes, I just started my internship. But my cousin is getting married in a few days, and my family wanted me to be her bridesmaid. That’s why they asked me to come back early and take leave.”
The officer made a note, then asked, “Do you know Sui Yu?”
“Sui Yu?” Ding Qisi’s eyes widened slightly. Then she bit her lip and said, “Of course I know her. She was the former chairwoman of our company. After she married President Shen, she stepped down and let him take over. Did something happen to her?”
She looked at the officers with genuine concern, as if truly worried.
“She’s had an incident,” the officer replied calmly.
“An incident?!” Ding Qisi’s voice suddenly rose in shock. “How could that happen? She’s a top-tier Alpha! And she went on vacation with President Shen. What about him? Is President Shen okay?” Her voice was filled with panic and deep concern.
The two officers glanced at each other. The young woman in front of them seemed completely normal. There was nothing suspicious in her behavior, and they genuinely couldn’t understand why Shen Jueshu had listed her as the first person to investigate.
“Miss Shen is safe,” the officer replied, but he didn’t reveal much about Sui Yu’s situation.
“But… what exactly happened to Ms. Sui?” Ding Qisi asked, her hands nervously twisting together.
The officers didn’t respond. Instead, one of them asked, “Around 9:40 PM tonight, where were you?”
“Huh?” Ding Qisi’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Are you suspecting me? I didn’t even leave the house tonight!”
“We’re not accusing you,” the officer said patiently. “We’re just conducting routine interviews with people who knew her.”
“But you said you didn’t go out—can you provide proof of that?”
Ding Qisi looked visibly upset, as though being falsely accused. She replied with a hint of frustration, “There are surveillance cameras in our apartment hallway. You can ask the property management to check. I came home a little after 1 PM today and haven’t gone out since!”
Her reaction was exactly what you’d expect from someone her age who felt wrongly questioned.
The officers were quiet for a moment, then asked, “Would you mind if we take a quick look around your apartment?”
Ding Qisi turned her head away and snapped, “Go ahead!”
They ignored her mood and stood up to look around. The apartment had a simple one-bedroom, one-living-room layout—not large, but plenty for one person. When they reached a door, one of them asked, “Could you open this door for us?”
“That’s my bedroom!” Ding Qisi’s expression tightened, but she quickly opened the door with a sharp motion, her face clearly showing annoyance.
The officers already knew it was her bedroom. From the doorway, they could see everything. The bed was still messy, like someone had just been lying in it. Nothing seemed out of place.
They exchanged another glance, then nodded slightly. One of them said, “Sorry to disturb you so late. We’ll take our leave now.”
After the officers left, Ding Qisi’s expression slowly changed. The worry faded from her face, replaced by a subtle, almost mocking smile.
Now… it was time for her to show some “concern.”
She quickly pulled out her phone and eagerly began typing a message to Shen Jueshu—ready to offer comfort while she was at her most vulnerable.
But Shen Jueshu didn’t see the message right away. She was still on the phone with the police, listening to them report back on their visit to Ding Qisi’s home. After going over everything, one officer summed it up by saying, “From the way she acted, it really doesn’t seem like she’s involved.”
They were both experienced officers, confident in their ability to read people. From what they’d seen, Ding Qisi didn’t seem capable of something like a kidnapping—and she didn’t appear to have a motive either.
Shen Jueshu didn’t say much in response. Once the call ended, she noticed a new message from an unknown number. She opened it—and even though the sender hadn’t signed their name, the tone and wording made it clear.
It was from Ding Qisi.
Her face was cold and expressionless as she stared indifferently at the message. Without replying, she simply deleted it.
It didn’t surprise Shen Jueshu that Ding Qisi had her phone number. With those travelers around her, getting access to that kind of information would be far too easy.
Still, the feeling of discomfort was hard to ignore—Ding Qisi had crossed the line.
If Ding Qisi had help from a traveler system, she might also have the means to erase evidence. So how was she supposed to find Sui Yu now?
Shen Jueshu bit her lip. A voice in her heart kept insisting: Ding Qisi must have done it. There was no way it could all be just a coincidence. But if Ding Qisi had done it… where would she be hiding someone?
She had already arranged for someone to watch Ding Qisi closely. Now, it was just a matter of whether the girl would slip up.
Just then, her phone rang—it was Qin Qing.
“President Shen, I’ve sent the documents you asked for to your email,” came Qin Qing’s calm and steady voice on the other end.
“Thank you,” Shen Jueshu said before hanging up. She immediately opened her laptop and logged into her inbox. What she’d asked for was a complete background file on Ding Qisi.
Ding Qisi’s resume was impressive—she was, in every sense, a gifted young woman. At only eighteen years old, she had already graduated from a top international university, earning dual degrees in law and psychology.
But with such outstanding credentials, why would she come all the way to Suihe just to take a minor job as a secretary assistant?
As Shen Jueshu reviewed the file, it felt like she was watching the transformation of a young girl into an exceptionally capable woman. She couldn’t help but curl her lips slightly—but her gaze grew colder.
No wonder the police hadn’t noticed anything off. With a person this intelligent—and especially with her strong background in psychology—how could she be so easily read?
The file also included a breakdown of all of Ding Qisi’s known connections, but even after going through them, Shen Jueshu still couldn’t figure out where she might be hiding someone. Maybe it was time she met her in person.
Somehow, Shen Jueshu had a strong hunch: Ding Qisi was probably waiting for her to show up.
When she drove to the residential complex where Ding Qisi lived, she happened to see some workers carrying large panels into the elevator. She stepped back to let them pass.
Once they were gone, she took another elevator and went up to Ding Qisi’s floor. She rang the doorbell.
The door opened, and Ding Qisi’s eyes lit up when she saw her. “President Shen! What brings you here?”
She quickly stepped aside to let her in, showing no trace of nervousness—as if she weren’t afraid of anything being discovered.
Shen Jueshu lowered her gaze slightly and entered the apartment.
“No need to change your shoes. I haven’t been home in a while, so the floor’s already dirty,” Ding Qisi said casually.
Shen Jueshu walked into the living room. It was a small one-bedroom layout—easy to take in at a glance.
“Please, have a seat. Would you like some water?” Ding Qisi poured her a glass and brought it over.
Shen Jueshu didn’t drink. She looked up at Ding Qisi’s youthful face and asked calmly, “What made you decide to come work in Suihe?”
Ding Qisi sat across from her, seeming slightly nervous in front of Shen Jueshu. Her hands clutched at the fabric on her knees as she shyly replied, “Suihe is a company everyone dreams of joining. I’m no different.”
Looking at the timid girl in front of her, Shen Jueshu’s eyes remained emotionless. She said, “I’ve read your resume. You’re very accomplished.”
Ding Qisi’s eyes lit up even more at the compliment, and her face turned slightly red. “Th-thank you, President Shen.”
“You’re so capable—why would you settle for a simple assistant position?” Shen Jueshu stared directly at her. There was only one possibility: from the moment she joined Suihe, she had planned everything from the start.
Hearing the question, Ding Qisi’s gaze slowly shifted. Her look became more intense, even obsessed. The citrusy scent of her pheromones began to spread through the room like a peacock displaying its feathers—desperate to attract attention. Her cheeks turned even redder, and her eyes glistened slightly.
Choked with emotion, she whispered, “I know it’s wrong… but I just wanted to be a little closer to you.”
Shen Jueshu wasn’t surprised by the answer. She had already suspected that Ding Qisi’s true purpose in joining Suihe was her. Still, hearing it out loud made her silently wonder—just how far off track had this world’s story gone?
“P-President Shen… I… I’m entering my heat cycle…”
The citrus-scented pheromones instantly filled the entire apartment, closing in around Shen Jueshu like a tidal wave.
