- Has the Boss Bost His Temper Today?
- Chapter 15 - The CEO is Very Angry Today “I Shouldn’t Be Angry?”
The club’s security and manager arrived on the scene immediately to handle the situation. They were harshly reprimanded by the board members, and the Alpha waiter responsible for the incident was sent straight to the police station.
After all, the person injured was Ji Huaichuan, a prominent S-City councilman and currently the hottest candidate in the gubernatorial election. If this news leaked, the club’s reputation would be ruined.
After giving instructions to the club management, Director Zheng sighed and apologized to Ji Huaichuan, “I am truly sorry. For something like this to happen at my club… I will definitely give you a proper explanation, Councilman Ji.”
Ji Huaichuan replied mildly, “It’s fine, just a small scratch. Please just keep an eye on the news, Director Zheng, and ensure nothing inappropriate gets out.”
“I’ll have a doctor come to the club then.”
Duan Shiming was stunned. Hearing his second uncle call Ji Huaichuan a councilman made his head spin. Chu Yanzhou’s fiancé was a councilman?
His wrist was hurting from Chu Yanzhou’s grip, so he whispered, “Hey, stop scolding. Mr. Ji is hurt too, and his injury looks worse.”
Ji Huaichuan looked at the two of them, his gaze falling on the hand Chu Yanzhou was holding. His smile became subtle.
Sensing the shift in atmosphere, Duan Shiming tried to pull his hand away, but Chu Yanzhou refused to let go.
The surrounding elders watched with confused expressions, wondering what kind of drama was unfolding.
Duan Shiming’s heart skipped a beat. This was bad! Was this Alpha going to use some dirty trick to drag him down with him?
Thinking fast, he abruptly yanked his arm back and then stood on his tiptoes to throw an arm around Chu Yanzhou’s shoulder.
Caught off guard, Chu Yanzhou was hit with a wave of citrus and lime pheromones as Duan Shiming leaned into him. He looked at the boy in surprise.
“Ah, hahaha… Actually, we’re just really good bros, that’s why he’s so worried. But he’s definitely most worried about Mr. Ji.”
Duan Shiming kept smiling, but he glanced sideways, glaring at Chu Yanzhou with a threatening look. He squeezed out the words through his teeth, “Right, good bro?”
Chu Yanzhou didn’t say a word. He looked down and flipped Duan Shiming’s palm over.
His silence spoke volumes: We are not bros.
Duan Shiming felt like he was only making things worse. He gritted his teeth, pulled his hand back, and shot Chu Yanzhou a fierce glare.
“I’ve already called the doctor to the club to avoid any complications at the hospital,” Director Zheng said, putting his phone down. He looked at Duan Shiming with a hint of hesitation.
Duan Shiming looked away, wishing he could disappear. He really didn’t know anything.
Ji Huaichuan nodded, “Then I’ll trouble you, Director Zheng.”
His gaze swept over Duan Shiming but collided with a dark, brooding stare from Chu Yanzhou. He smiled gently and said, “Yanzhou, you’re still so attentive. You cared about the person who saved me right away. Now, shouldn’t you care about me?”
Duan Shiming’s skin crawled, “You guys talk, I’ll excuse myself.”
**
As it turned out, there was no escaping.
Inside a private room at the club, a medical team was checking both of them.
“Aren’t you going to ask me why I’m here?” Ji Huaichuan sat on the sofa while a doctor disinfected his wound. He looked at the two men sitting together.
Chu Yanzhou’s eyes were fixed on the doctor cleaning Duan Shiming’s palm. “Don’t you always do whatever you want?”
“I didn’t intend to interrupt your work,” Ji Huaichuan said.
Chu Yanzhou replied, “You already have.”
Ji Huaichuan sighed, “Then I apologize.”
Duan Shiming remained silent.
The conversation died there. The two spoke like strangers. When the police arrived and saw it was Ji Huaichuan, they were incredibly respectful, allowing Duan Shiming to pick up more information about this new character.
Ji Huaichuan was a councilman in S-City and the top contender for the governorship in September.
Duan Shiming couldn’t help but feel impressed. Chu Yanzhou’s fiancé was a big deal, a powerful politician and a potential governor.
And yet he played 1vN games?
The whole situation felt increasingly dangerous. He decided he definitely shouldn’t get involved.
Soon, the doctors finished the treatment and left quickly, seemingly afraid of hearing something they shouldn’t.
Duan Shiming stood up abruptly, intending to follow the doctors out. He wanted to escape too!
Suddenly, his wrist was caught.
“We’re going back to the hotel,” Chu Yanzhou said, gripping his arm and giving him a meaningful look.
Duan Shiming sighed. He really didn’t want to help with this charade.
“Give me a ride too,” Ji Huaichuan said to Chu Yanzhou. “I’m staying at the same hotel.”
Chu Yanzhou countered, “Don’t you have a driver?”
“Today is my private time. I specifically came to talk to you.” Ji Huaichuan’s expression turned pained as he gave a bitter smile. “Yanzhou, how did we end up like this? Is there really no chance left for us?”
Duan Shiming’s eyebrows twitched.
It sounded so sincere! Sometimes you couldn’t just listen to one side. What if his boss was actually the jerk?
He tilted his head and looked at Chu Yanzhou in confusion.
“Ji Huaichuan, the election hasn’t started yet, so there’s no need to act so convincingly. Save that emotion and those tears for election day. Your chances of winning might be better,” Chu Yanzhou said coldly, ignoring Duan Shiming’s suspicious look.
Ji Huaichuan gave a faint sigh and looked at Duan Shiming as if asking for help.
Duan Shiming silently turned around and plugged his ears with his index fingers.
Forget it. He wasn’t going to buy into this drama.
He wouldn’t listen, wouldn’t look. This had nothing to do with him.
I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you…
Seeing Duan Shiming’s childish behavior, Ji Huaichuan found it adorable. This was quite interesting. He couldn’t help but let out a laugh, showing none of the distress of a lover being rejected.
Chu Yanzhou grabbed Duan Shiming’s wrists and pulled his fingers away with an undeniable force. His voice was flat as he said, “Let’s go.”
He didn’t seem angry, yet the temperature in the room felt like it had dropped several degrees.
“Oh,” Duan Shiming jumped up.
As they left, he looked back at Ji Huaichuan and saw the Omega waving at him gently. His eyes seemed to say: Thank you, goodbye.
The driver’s side door slammed shut with a heavy thud.
The luxury car vibrated from the force, radiating suppressed anger.
Duan Shiming, who had just touched the passenger door, felt his hair stand on end.
Seriously, what was this guy so angry about? Why was he always mad?
The passenger door clicked open automatically.
Duan Shiming sighed and sat down. The atmosphere inside the car was suffocating.
After buckling his seatbelt, he glanced over. Chu Yanzhou was holding the steering wheel but hadn’t started the car. His expressionless face was actually quite terrifying.
After a moment of hesitation, he asked softly, “What are you mad about now?”
Chu Yanzhou stared straight ahead, his thumb rubbing the steering wheel. “Do you think I should be angry?”
“No,” Duan Shiming replied.
Chu Yanzhou glanced at him, his eyes dark and cold. “I shouldn’t be angry?”
Duan Shiming was genuinely puzzled. “I just don’t know what you’re mad at. I helped you just now, right? I didn’t talk back to you, right? So tell me, what is it this time?”
“Your hand is injured. It will interfere with your work,” Chu Yanzhou said.
Duan Shiming’s eyebrows shot up like a lit firecracker. He thrust his bandaged wrist in front of Chu Yanzhou’s face. “If it wasn’t for helping your fiancé, would I even be injured?!”
“I didn’t ask you to help.”
“Then was I supposed to just watch him die? That was an Alpha in heat, he was going to force a mark on an Omega!” Duan Shiming’s shoulders shook with anger, and his ears turned red. “Even if he’s out of line, he’s still your fiancé by name, right? Would it benefit you if he got hurt? I was helping you!”
His heart was racing, and his chest felt tight. He glared at Chu Yanzhou. “I wish I hadn’t helped you!”
Seeing the boy turn pale with rage, Chu Yanzhou swallowed the harsh words he was about to say. He changed his tone, “It’s not because of the work. I was worried about your hand.”
“Then why can’t you just say that normally!” Duan Shiming instinctively clenched his fist, but Chu Yanzhou caught his hand. He froze.
“Don’t help him next time.” Chu Yanzhou gently uncurled the boy’s fingers. Seeing a bit of blood seeping through the gauze, he frowned and lightly brushed his thumb against the edge of the bandage. “That was his lover. If he gets hit or bitten, he deserves it.”
Duan Shiming was stunned. “How did you know?”
Well, that explained a lot. It seemed Chu Yanzhou was actually being quite rational by not hitting the guy himself.
Chu Yanzhou added, “I’m a proud and jealous man. If he does anything to disgrace or insult me, I won’t let him off easily.”
Duan Shiming’s mind whirred. “So you’re jealous that he has so many boyfriends?”
Hearing his interpretation of ‘jealous,’ Chu Yanzhou let out a cold laugh. He let go of the hand and started the car. “Sure. An eye for an eye. That’s why I asked for your help.”
“That’s not very manly of you,” Duan Shiming muttered.
The next second, his expression changed. The chip in his chest emitted a needle-like pain, making him feel quite unwell. “Forget it, let’s change the subject. I overexerted myself and ran out of batteries. Requesting permission to take a nap.”
Chu Yanzhou focused on the road. “Mm.”
“Then don’t fight with me anymore, okay?” Duan Shiming hugged a pillow, pressed his hand against his chest, and slowly closed his eyes.
The car became quiet, a stark contrast to the previous tension.
Chu Yanzhou glanced sideways. The boy was leaning against the seat with a slight frown, his face much paler than before.
Was he not feeling well?
