Your Aloof Persona Has Crumbled - Chapter 8
As soon as Lu Jingwei arrived, the other girls gathered around. One shouldn’t let a free lesson go to waste, and naturally, Lu Jingwei didn’t refuse them. Everyone instinctively left the space closest to Lu Jingwei open.
Wen Shike learned very quickly. Occasionally, she would discuss a few points with Lu Jingwei, and they would refine their movements together. The others were clearly struggling to keep up with the pace but felt too embarrassed to ask them to slow down. They flailed behind them, looking as if their limbs were about to tie themselves into knots.
“You guys try to follow along for now. Memorize as much as you can, don’t feel forced to keep up with my exact progress. Once I’ve mastered it, I’ll teach you,” Wen Shike said, looking back.
“Okay.” The girls naturally had no objections. Their eyes filled with gratitude as they slowed their pace slightly.
By three in the afternoon, Wen Shike had memorized almost the entire dance. Barring any accidents, combining the singing and dancing wouldn’t be a major issue by the end of the day. Lu Jingwei compared the gap between herself and Wen Shike, said her goodbyes, and left in a hurry.
Wen Shike turned back and met those idolizing gazes. She fell silent for two seconds and coughed softly, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“Let’s begin. One movement at a time. I’m leaving at 10:30 PM,” Wen Shike said, glancing at her watch.
“Do you need to rest for a bit?” another girl asked.
“No need,” Wen Shike waved her hand. “Let’s just start. I hope everyone can pass the evaluation.”
She didn’t speak much, if there was a problem, she would simply demonstrate. In the process of teaching others, she also refined her own movements. Once Wen Shike entered “work mode,” she didn’t even need to consciously maintain her “cold and aloof” persona, she already looked quite intimidating.
The others knew how lucky they were to have someone teaching them, so they were all very serious. No one was joking around, and the way they looked at Wen Shike grew more fervent.
When they wanted to ask a question, they would raise their hands. The classroom was very quiet, with only the occasional sound of Wen Shike’s voice and the repeating theme song. Consequently, the voices of several mentors talking at the door were clearly audible.
“Several people in Class A can already perform the dance,” it was Xi Mingxuan speaking. “And it hasn’t been that long.”
“It is indeed quite good,” Cheng Qiansang added.
“I heard Wen Shike didn’t even get to the classroom until 10:30 this morning,” Ding Qing said, her words pointed.
The mentors’ discussion came to an abrupt halt, clearly unwilling to continue the topic with Ding Qing.
The door opened. The person who opened it was Ding Qing. She likely intended to say something, ideally catching Wen Shike slacking off but seeing the layout of the classroom, the words she wanted to say got stuck in her throat, unable to come out.
Wen Shike stood at the very front, with the other students from Class B standing behind her, following her movements. The meaning of this scene was quite obvious.
In that instant, Ding Qing’s expression turned ugly. Wen Shike glanced at her and felt amused. Few people ever tried to use her as a stepping stone; she had been a bit angry at first, but now she felt more… a sense of novelty.
“Hello, teachers,” Wen Shike greeted them.
Immediately, the people behind her followed suit, shouting in unison, “Hello, teachers!” Their voices were clear and loud.
Wen Shike: “…”
Several teachers laughed, except for Ding Qing.
Meng Yaya exchanged a look with Wen Shike and then spoke up encouragingly: “Wen Shike, show us a dance. Since you’ve already started teaching your classmates, you must have learned it by now.”
“Yes.” Wen Shike nodded modestly. She wasn’t about to refuse a perfect opportunity to “slap a face.”
She glanced at Ding Qing again, noticing her increasingly sour expression, and struggled to keep a smile from creeping onto her face: Eat your heart out!
“Teacher, Keke can already combine the singing and dancing!” another girl shouted. “I’ll put on the accompaniment!”
The others immediately backed away, clearing the floor for Wen Shike. Everyone’s eyes focused on her.
“Good luck, Keke!” several girls shouted loudly.
Wen Shike nodded to them and then stood facing the audience. As soon as the intro played, she instantly entered the zone.
This song was youthful and upbeat. Since she was performing the whole thing, Wen Shike naturally incorporated expressions. The vibrant smile on her face never faded. A wink in the middle of the song caused a few girls in the back to scream.
“She’s flirting with me! Sister, I’m yours!”
“Go away, let me!”
“Too sweet!”
“Her arms and legs don’t get tangled! I’m so jealous, wu wu wu.”
Several people whispered, and people outside the door heard the commotion and couldn’t help but come over to watch.
Lu Jingwei also stood at the door watching. Looking at the smile on Wen Shike’s face, she wondered how much of it was genuine. Can a fake smile be this brilliant?
“Holy crap, she’s already learned it?”
“Is she even human… Top students from A-University are terrifying.”
Wen Shike finished the entire song with steady breathing. The first thing she did after finishing was look at Ding Qing, who was standing nearby: “Teacher Ding, are there any flaws you can point out?”
Because her smile had vanished the moment she finished, this sentence sounded very much like a provocation or a threat.
Of course, Wen Shike was being provocative.
“I still have the ambition to get into Class A,” Wen Shike looked at Ding Qing, her expression gaining a hint of “sincerity.”
Lu Jingwei twitched the corner of her mouth: It looks even more like sarcasm now.
She felt that Wen Shike was likely much more interesting than she had imagined.
Ding Qing gripped her roster tightly: “To be like this after one day is very good. Keep working hard.”
“It wasn’t even a full day; she didn’t get here until 10:30. It’s amazing.”
One girl couldn’t help but speak up, her tone becoming increasingly boastful. “And she learned it ages ago. She’s been teaching us for the past two hours. Oh, and Lu Jingwei came to teach us too.”
Ding Qing shot a glance at the girl, who silently shrank back into the crowd. Ding Qing didn’t say anything else with a dark face, she headed to the next classroom. Meng Yaya patted Lu Jingwei on the shoulder.
“Was Ding Qing always like this when she participated in shows before?” Wen Shike rubbed her chin and asked after they had left.
“Yeah, probably because she’s a veteran, so she…” one girl said in a low voice, leaving the rest unsaid.
Wen Shike nodded. Looking at the people standing around her waiting for her to speak, she suddenly felt like she had become some sort of strange leader: “Everyone take a break and go eat.”
“Keke, want to come with us?”
“You guys go first,” Wen Shike waved them off. “I’m going to head back to the dorm first.”
“Okay.”
Wen Shike picked up her jacket and shook it out. She circled around to Class A, they had also gone to eat, but Lu Jingwei was still there, repeating a certain movement over and over in front of the mirror.
She couldn’t help herself and entered through the back door. Lu Jingwei saw her in the mirror but said nothing.
Wen Shike stood to the side watching, then reached out and touched Lu Jingwei’s waist: “Is it a waist issue? It feels like you’re getting more and more tense as you dance. Don’t overthink it.”
Startled by Wen Shike’s touch, Lu Jingwei’s body recoiled, and she jumped a long distance away.
