You Should’ve Said Earlier that you’re Such a Little Flirt! - Chapter 2
Xu Qingqiong lay on her pillow, her breathing slowly evening out as she pulled out the pillow that had been tucked under her lower abdomen.
Earlier, during that whole thing, Lin Konglu had placed the pillow there, likely worried she would be uncomfortable lying flat on her stomach.
Xu Qingqiong’s movements suddenly stiffened. Her gaze caught a faint wet mark on the edge of the pillowcase. She looked toward Lin Konglu with an embarrassed, awkward smile. “I… got it dirty.”
It was definitely her own doing. After all, Lin Konglu hadn’t even taken her clothes off earlier; she had only loosened her shirt collar, which now hung open to reveal her snow-white, delicate collarbones.
“It’s fine.”
Lin Konglu appeared entirely unruffled. Her gaze swept over the pillow in Xu’s hand before she pulled off her shirt, revealing her pale, exquisite figure. “I’ll wash it in a bit.”
Xu Qingqiong’s gaze lingered for a second before she muttered a hasty “Mhm,” tossing the pillow aside.
There was no denying it: Lin Konglu was beautiful. Her silhouette was defined by graceful, elegant lines, and her long, wavy hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall. Aside from her somewhat cold temperament, she was practically flawless.
If she weren’t so stunning, Xu Qingqiong wouldn’t have agreed to the marriage so quickly, nor would she have ended up in bed with her in such a daze.
In fact, she’d ended up there five, six, seven… eight times now.
She still remembered the first time with vivid clarity. It was shortly after they had started living together.
Lin Konglu had returned late from a cocktail party while Xu was already asleep. Woken by the sound of her return, Xu had unintentionally rolled over and, in her groggy state, bumped into Lin Konglu’s body.
Lin Konglu had looked down at her with a heavy, intense gaze. Perhaps it was the impulse brought on by the alcohol, but she suddenly pinned Xu’s wrists, leaning down to kiss her. Her black curls fell against Xu’s chest, creating a tingling, itchy sensation.
The kiss, moist with the steam from a recent shower; the scent of wine mixed with her perfume; the soft, warm body so close in the dim light; the hurried breathing…
It was a perfect storm for losing one’s senses.
In short, Xu Qingqiong had been stunned for a moment, but she didn’t play hard to get. Her mind went blank, and she followed the other woman’s lead with a half-willing response.
Everything followed naturally after that, and they had maintained this kind of relationship ever since.
As for their current dynamic—was it “familiar”? Yes, quite. Lin Konglu had seen her without clothes more times than she could count. But in reality, it had been less than two months since they met through a blind date, moved in together, and got engaged.
Absentmindedly, Xu Qingqiong fiddled with a rose brooch before diving under the covers.
The brooch had been accidentally torn from Lin Konglu’s clothes earlier when Xu was… struggling to keep it together. The silver edges pressed into her palm, cold and hard—much like the feeling its owner projected.
During the act, she had been lying face down the whole time. She could feel Lin Konglu’s breath falling rhythmically against her back. Even in the heat of the moment, Lin Konglu remained incredibly composed.
Xu Qingqiong actually admired her for it.
By comparison, she felt like she lacked self-control. She had even “come” so hard she cried—it was honestly a bit embarrassing.
Sigh. Thinking of this, Xu Qingqiong let out a long, melancholic breath.
At the sound, Lin Konglu’s back stiffened almost imperceptibly. After changing into fresh clothes, she said softly, “I have an online meeting in a bit. You go to sleep first.”
Xu Qingqiong grumbled inwardly: What is this? Leaving right after the deed? A bit heartless, isn’t it, baby?
But on the surface, she acted indifferent. “Oh. Then I’m going to sleep.”
Lin Konglu: “…Mm.”
…
After a shower, she curled up in bed, exhausted. She idly played with the rose brooch until she was on the verge of sleep.
After an unknown amount of time, she felt one side of the bed sink slightly as someone lay down beside her.
The air conditioning was set very low. Xu Qingqiong hated the heat and always insisted on a low temperature, yet she was also prone to the cold, often ending up with icy hands and feet. Being both heat-intolerant and cold-sensitive made every summer a struggle.
But now, a human heater was right next to her.
Tempted and half-asleep, Xu Qingqiong didn’t overthink it. She snuggled into the other woman’s arms. She wrapped her arms tightly around Lin Konglu’s waist, sliding her hands under the hem of her pajamas to find warmth. Her legs also habitually hooked around Lin’s, like a giant teddy bear.
Suddenly being hugged didn’t seem to annoy Lin Konglu. Instead, she reached out and gently patted Xu’s back with great patience. However, her hand paused briefly when it brushed against the smooth, bare skin of Xu’s back.
Xu Qingqiong had a habit of sleeping naked. Having stripped completely, she was now tucked into Lin’s arms like a large doll—soft, warm, and enough to make anyone’s heart race.
Even though they had just done it twice earlier, Lin Konglu’s heart rate still spiked.
She quietly suppressed her erratic breathing, her voice sounding even calmer than usual. “What happened this afternoon? Did someone bully you?”
Xu Qingqiong loved hearing her say things like that. Lin Konglu didn’t ask for justifications; she simply defended her, standing by her side unconditionally. Since her grandmother passed away, it had been a long time since Xu felt this kind of unconditional protection.
The words made her heart tingle. Her fingers curled instinctively as she thought: Lin Konglu is actually a pretty good person.
In a voice thick with sleep, Xu murmured, “It’s nothing.”
She didn’t take it to heart, and more importantly, she hadn’t come out on the losing end.
Since she didn’t want to talk about it, Lin Konglu didn’t push. She only said, “If there’s a problem, you can come up to my office, or talk to Barff.”
Xu Qingqiong gave a casual “Mm.” She thought to herself: What problem could there be? Who would dare bully me? They’d have to be tired of living.
Still, she was touched by the consideration. Truly worthy of being my “backer.”
Lin Konglu asked again, “How is the wedding planning going? Do you need any help?”
Because Lin Konglu was busy with work, Xu Qingqiong was primarily responsible for choosing and coordinating the wedding details. This was a mutual decision; while planning it themselves was a hassle, handing it entirely to an agency felt soulless. Xu Qingqiong wanted a wedding that suited her perfectly.
This question woke Xu up a bit. She silently started to pull her hand back from under the pajama hem.
Lin Konglu pressed down on her wrist through the fabric, disapprovingly. “Your hands are still cold.”
Actually, Xu didn’t really want to pull away either. It was warm and soft. She had just been a little shy, but since Lin insisted, she naturally put her hand back.
“I’m looking at venues. You can take a pick, I have photos on my phone…” Midway through, she changed her mind. “Actually, never mind. Let’s do it tomorrow.”
Lying in bed like this, barely dressed and hugging (even if she was the one doing the hugging), felt a bit weird for a business talk.
Lin Konglu hummed in agreement and closed her eyes, seemingly falling asleep.
Instead, it was Xu Qingqiong who found herself unable to sleep. She studied the other woman in the faint light. Lin Konglu had very striking features—the kind of “bold” beauty with deep contours, cold, glamorous red lips, and a powerful, “alpha” aura.
Lin Konglu’s hand didn’t move. Through the soft fabric of the pajamas, their hands remained lightly entwined.
It was strange—a touch of mundane tenderness amidst the awkwardness. It felt as though they were a deeply in love couple on the verge of marriage.
Before this, the reality hadn’t quite set in. But now, she suddenly realized—next month, this person next to her would truly become her wife…
Terrified by the sudden thought, Xu Qingqiong instinctively tried to pull her hand away again.
Lin Konglu let out a low grunt and suddenly gripped her hand, opening her eyes. Her eyes were beautiful, veiled in a misty shimmer as she looked at her. “What is it?”
Xu Qingqiong sighed and made an excuse. “Nothing. Maybe just pre-wedding jitters.”
As Lin Konglu was about to close her eyes again, Xu Qingqiong quickly called out to her.
“What?”
“Um… do you… do you need… that?” Xu Qingqiong asked awkwardly, fidgeting.
Under the pajamas, her fingers reached deeper, like a soft little fish, experimentally brushing against a sensitive spot on Lin Konglu’s chest.
They were both adults. Since Lin Konglu had made her feel so good today, she felt she should reciprocate and ask if Lin had any needs.
Lin Konglu seemed stunned by the gesture. Her body stiffened slightly. After a few seconds, she caught Xu’s wandering wrist and whispered, “No need.”
“Oh, okay.” Xu Qingqiong felt a wave of relief as sleepiness returned. She let out a small yawn.
Her “technique” wasn’t great, given her lack of experience. If she actually had to perform, she was afraid of embarrassing herself. It was a blessing Lin had declined.
But Lin Konglu’s technique was excellent; she always made Xu feel wonderful. As she drifted off, she wondered: Did Lin Konglu have a lot of girlfriends before? Where did she practice? How is she so good at this?
But she only kept these thoughts to herself. She wasn’t foolish enough to ask. Since they were getting married, obsessing over the past seemed pointless. Besides… their relationship wasn’t quite at the “ask anything” stage yet.
She pulled her hand back, rolled to her side of the bed, and mumbled, “Goodnight. Sweet dreams.”
Lin Konglu’s lips curved slightly. “Mm. Goodnight.”
Xu Qingqiong’s final thought before falling asleep was: Lin Konglu’s voice is so nice, but she’s so cold. Even in bed, she’s like ice. I still prefer someone more passionate. Sigh.
Little did she know, the “ice-cold” Lin Konglu was lying there stiffly, the spot on her chest that had been touched still burning with a vivid presence.
The thought in Lin’s mind was: Aren’t you going to ask again? Just the once?
