You Are the Star I Cannot Touch - Chapter 7
Chapter 7: Startled Rabbit
“Good morning, CEO,” Mu Yan placed soy milk and steamed buns on the desk. “I made them.” Then, without saying anything more, she left again.
Gong Yutong looked at the breakfast. Was she trying a different approach to pursue her?
The soy milk was freshly ground. She took a sip, noting that Mu Yan knew she didn’t like sweet things, so there was no sugar. The steamed buns were meat-filled, not greasy, and actually quite delicious. Since when could she cook?
Knock, knock. The door sounded, and Mu Yan entered. “CEO, this is today’s schedule.” She was all business.
Gong Yutong took it. Everyone had their own style of doing things, even if the previous secretary had trained her, Mu Yan followed her own method. This was actually quite good.
“Mm,” she didn’t pay attention to Mu Yan, looking at her computer. She studied finance in college solely to take over Gong Corporation. Gong Corporation was not just about finance; being her secretary meant learning more than just a schedule. There were too many things involved.
Mu Yan didn’t cling to her and chose to leave. She meant it when she said she wouldn’t provoke her, but that didn’t stop her from staying by her side and being able to see her. Since Gong Yutong was hiring a secretary, how could she miss this opportunity? This was the only chance to be near her, and she absolutely couldn’t miss it.
…
Qu Shijin had just arrived at the dorm. She had two compulsory classes and had to attend them. She studied design, which she loved, and also loved painting. She wanted to draw all the beautiful things, especially in interior design.
She was the only one in the dorm today; after all, in college, you could come and go as you pleased. She was only there for those two classes. She packed her things and got ready to go to the milk tea shop for her part-time job. Since Gu Xizhi hadn’t looked for her today, she could go to work and earn a little extra money.
She went out on a shared bike, her long hair fluttering in the wind. She was in a good mood. After all, these two classes every week were more important than anything else to her; she could learn so much.
Gu Xizhi leaned against the car window and saw Qu Shijin. It was the first time she had seen her smile so happily. Life is so difficult. “Follow that bicycle.”
“Yes, CEO Gu.”
Qu Shijin parked the bike and entered the milk tea shop. She greeted everyone, changed into her uniform, and came out with her hair in a ponytail. There weren’t many customers today.
Gu Xizhi observed her. In front of her, Qu Shijin was soft and timid, but outside, she was confident, energetic, and vibrant. She was a student, after all. She refused to quit her part-time job. True, with the money Gu Xizhi gave her, her monthly expenses were covered, but if they found a kidney donor, the money wouldn’t be nearly enough. Giving her too much would hurt the girl’s strong self-esteem, and giving too little wasn’t enough. It was difficult.
Gu Xizhi entered the shop.
Qu Shijin was startled to see her. Why is she here?
“One pearl milk tea, one-third sugar, warm, small size.” Gu Xizhi found a seat.
Qu Shijin was surprised. She likes to drink this? She made it as requested and placed it in front of her.
“Xiao Jin, it’s not busy now. You cover the counter while we go eat. We’ll swap back in a bit.”
“Okay.” She watched them leave.
There were no other customers in the shop now, just the two of them, which felt awkward.
Gu Xizhi took a sip. It was quite good. “You try it? I don’t think it tastes good.”
“How is that possible?” Qu Shijin didn’t think too much, took a sip through the straw. “It’s fine.”
“Then you finish it.”
“I…”
“Disobedient.”
Qu Shijin quietly drank the entire cup of milk tea. She was actually thirsty. It took about thirty minutes to ride the bike from school, and even though it was afternoon, the weather was hot.
“Still thirsty?”
Qu Shijin: “…”
She’s doing this on purpose. “Thank you.”
“Send me a message when you eat,” she got up and paid the money. “I’ll take you out to eat.” Before Qu Shijin could reply, Gu Xizhi had already left.
Qu Shijin looked at the straw. Gu Xizhi had just used this straw. Thinking of this, her face flushed, and she threw the trash away.
It took about half an hour for the others to return to the shop, and during that time, there were only about ten orders. She managed everything. After they changed into their uniforms, she messaged Gu Xizhi. She waited by the shop entrance for ten minutes, and the car arrived. She got in.
“How long do you work here each day?” Gu Xizhi was playing with her phone.
“Three hours, between 5 and 7 PM, or sometimes until 8 PM. If they’re too busy, I’ll come over when I’m free.”
“How much per hour?”
“Thirty.” Her voice was quiet. “It covers my daily expenses. If I work a full day, it’s three hundred.”
“Do you work here on weekends, too?”
“Yes.”
“I checked up on you. You have more than just this part-time job. You deliver food too?”
“That’s only inside the campus. Outside… it’s not safe.”
Gu Xizhi laughed at her words. “Not safe. You know it’s not safe, yet you dared to call and come to me. Weren’t you afraid of being tricked?”
“I… I had no choice. I had to attend those classes on those days, so… plus… I was out of options.”
“Never dated in college, have you?”
“No.”
“Do you have anyone you like?”
“No.”
“That’s good,” she put her phone away. “What time do you finish today?”
“Do you need something?”
“What do you think I need when I look for you?”
Qu Shijin lowered her head even more, her ears turning red.
Gu Xizhi leaned in and bit her ear. “So shy?”
Qu Shijin didn’t speak. Her body was trembling, unable to handle the stimulation.
Gu Xizhi stopped teasing her. “I’ll pick you up at eight.”
“Okay,” her voice was soft and a little shaky.
The driver stopped the car. Gu Xizhi got out, and Qu Shijin quickly followed. She looked at the luxurious and decorated restaurant. This meal must cost tens of thousands.
She followed her into a private room. Only Gong Yutong was there. She became nervous again.
“She won’t eat you,” Gu Xizhi said, slightly exasperated. But she also had a deliberate reason for this. What’s there to be afraid of? This young girl needs proper training.
Qu Shijin looked even more flustered and quietly sat down next to Gu Xizhi.
Gu Xizhi managed not to laugh. She’s so afraid of her, huh? Well, she was the dignified CEO Gong. It was normal to be afraid.
Gong Yutong was too lazy to pay attention to the two of them and ate her own meal.
“Feed me.”
Qu Shijin thought she misheard and looked at her. Doing this in front of someone else? Isn’t that inappropriate? But Gu Xizhi looked serious. Qu Shijin had no choice but to brace herself, pick up some food, and feed her, her hands trembling constantly.
“Hurry and eat. You still have to go to the shop,” Gu Xizhi stopped teasing her. She just liked seeing her flustered and helpless, like a startled rabbit. It was amusing.
Qu Shijin sighed in relief and focused on eating. She just wanted to finish quickly and leave. She ate very fast, and the food tasted excellent. She ate a little too much.
“I… I’m full.”
“Mm, go on. The driver is waiting at the door.”
Qu Shijin fled as if escaping.
“Look how you scared the girl.”
Gong Yutong: “…I didn’t say a single word the entire time.”
How did she scare her?
“Your aura is too strong. It’s reasonable for a student to be so afraid of you.”
“You like her quite a bit, don’t you? I haven’t seen you bring anyone back to the villa before, let alone bring them around me.”
“Don’t you think the way she looks when she’s bullied is cute? And she’s clean, a blank slate.”
“A perfectly good college student ruined by you. Who knows, maybe she even likes men? And you? You completely led her astray.”
“I’m not a good person. It’s a mutual arrangement, and she seems to enjoy it. You should try it?”
“Try?”
“Mm. Should I find one for you?”
“I’m abstinent.” She definitely wouldn’t. One Mu Yan was already enough of a headache.
