You Are the Star I Cannot Touch - Chapter 6
Chapter 6: Wrong Room
Gong Yutong didn’t pay attention to the two of them. She sat on the sofa, her long, beautiful hands holding a tablet, looking at the documents on it.
“The kitchen is on the left,” Gu Xizhi said.
“Understood.” Qu Shijin nervously went to the kitchen. Gong Yutong’s oppressive presence was too strong. The first time she saw her, she was terrified. Gong Yutong’s eyes seemed to be able to see through everything. Qu Shijin felt completely transparent in front of her, and she was nervous. Only when she reached the kitchen did she breathe a sigh of relief.
“Take a look at this. It’s the edited version,” Gu Xizhi handed her the laptop.
Gong Yutong took it, opened it, and looked.
“Your neck…” Gu Xizhi finally noticed it. “You… you didn’t really go find a man, did you?”
“No,” she glanced at her, not hiding it. After all, this kind of mark was clearly a bite mark from someone else, and Gu Xizhi, as a veteran in romance, wouldn’t be fooled.
“Mu Yan… with your personality, she wouldn’t be able to touch you. It looks like it happened today.”
“She came to the company to find me, and… it’s nothing.” She couldn’t very well say that she… she also couldn’t say it.
“She came to find you again? Didn’t she say she wouldn’t bother you? You can’t trust anything that person says.”
“We’ll see,” she continued to watch the edited version. The music was good, and the visuals were naturally excellent, but this… she still had some reservations.
“You don’t need to worry. That’s because you’ve never been involved in this circle, so you always feel like it’s a huge problem and that something might go wrong. If you were involved, half the people would support it. Haven’t there been many TV dramas about men and men in recent years? They’ve also received a lot of attention and high popularity. If this were aired abroad, it would probably be even more popular—The Untamed, Assassin’s Creed, Heaven Official’s Blessing.”
“I don’t know,” she didn’t watch TV, so naturally, she didn’t know about those dramas.
“I forgot you don’t watch TV, so it’s normal that you don’t know. You don’t pay attention to these things. So, what do you think? Does it need any more changes?”
“I’m an outsider after all, but looking at it from a viewer’s perspective, it’s very good. Whether it’s the visual quality, the background, or the music, you always handle it personally, and it’s always perfect. Why are you even asking me?”
“What if there’s a problem? Your opinion as a viewer is very important. I’ll promote it in three days and air it within about a month.”
“Mm, I’ll be there. But you brought her here?”
“Weren’t you here today? I’ll take her away after dinner. Don’t worry, I won’t let her stay at our place unless she’s my girlfriend. She’s a good cook.”
“Mm,” she continued looking at the documents.
Qu Shijin felt somewhat intimidated. Eating with CEO Gong required a strong psychological fortitude, or it felt like sitting on pins and needles.
“Why so nervous? CEO Gong won’t eat you,” Gu Xizhi said helplessly. It was normal for her to be afraid, though. Her timidness, coupled with the coldness radiating from Gong Yutong, made her an undeniable presence no matter where she was.
Gong Yutong, with her long, elegant fingers holding the spoon, didn’t look at Qu Shijin. After finishing the last bite of soup, she got up and went upstairs.
When she left, Qu Shijin inexplicably felt much more relaxed.
“So afraid? You’ll have many opportunities to see her in the future. You’re graduating soon. You should practice your psychological resilience. If you go to work and interview with this level of confidence, you’ll definitely be eliminated. If you’re not afraid of her one day, your psychological resilience will be fine.” Sometimes, even Gu Xizhi felt a sense of suffocation when around her. “You can use CEO Gong to practice your psychological resilience.”
“No…” She spoke with a hint of panic. “I’m afraid… that kind of fear, it feels suffocating.”
“It’s good that you didn’t go to her. Otherwise… you’d probably be scared to death just seeing her. Outsiders are naturally afraid if they don’t understand her, but people who know her know she’s very kind. How did you find me?”
“By phone. I saw it online, saying to go to room 509.”
“Then do you know what room number I live in?”
Qu Shijin looked somewhat confused by her meaning.
“506.” She had gone into the wrong room.
Qu Shijin: “???”
“Didn’t you pay attention to the room number after that?”
“I… no. Maybe I was too nervous and went to the wrong room.” Should I be thankful or not? What if the person was a man or a pervert? But even though she went into the wrong room, it… well, the deed was done. I’m still lucky.
“You’re so timid? Yet you could do something like this? Are you very short on money?” She didn’t look like a vain woman. There must be another reason.
“My… sister is in the hospital with uremia. The dialysis costs are too high. I have a part-time job and need to go to school. I don’t have the money,” she said, tears welling up. “She’s my only family.”
Gu Xizhi looked at her bowed head. “If you find a kidney donor, she can be saved.”
“Yes.” A kidney transplant also cost a lot of money, so she had no choice but to do this.
“Fifty thousand a month isn’t enough, is it?”
“I also have a part-time job.”
“A part-time job? How about this: you’ll be responsible for my meals from now on. Quit all your part-time jobs. I’ll support you with one hundred thousand a month. You’re not allowed to touch men or women. You understand that part. I’ll give you fifty thousand for cooking for one month, but you can’t repeat a dish. As for any other needs on my end, we’ll talk about that later. There are a lot of small chores, and I can use someone to do them.” Gu Xizhi couldn’t offer too much. This young girl had a strong sense of self-respect, and too much money would probably make her feel more humiliated.
“Thank you,” she wiped away her tears.
“Eat properly. Leave after you finish eating.” Gu Xizhi didn’t know why, but she felt inexplicably irritable.
…
“CEO, the new… new secretary.” The HR manager introduced her nervously.
Gong Yutong looked up. Secretary? Mu Yan. She had threatened the staff of her own company and then came to work as a secretary at Gong Corporation.
“Hello, CEO. My name is Mu Yan,” Mu Yan said politely, yet with a smile.
“You can leave.” Gong Yutong had a headache.
“Yes,” the HR manager sighed in relief and left. She didn’t want to do it either, but… Mu Yan had threatened her family, so she could only apologize to the CEO.
“Dr. Mu? You seem very idle.” Gong Yutong looked at her. Ranked first on the assassin list, known as the ‘Divine Doctor,’ she was generally someone people wouldn’t provoke, given those two identities.
“A little idle. CEO, you shouldn’t delay my work. The sooner I get the hang of things, the sooner your former secretary can leave. As for how I got in, you don’t need to blame the manager. I forced her.” Mu Yan was a maniac, but only toward Gong Yutong.
If Gong Yutong didn’t agree, she wouldn’t be able to find a secretary for the rest of her life. “Go and get busy.”
“Yes, CEO,” Mu Yan left, acting quite professionally.
She said she wouldn’t bother her, and here she is again. Why is this person so relentlessly haunting? What exactly did she see in me? Gong Yutong rubbed her forehead. My good mood is gone again.
Mu Yan only came in during lunch to drop off the food and then left. She didn’t appear or bother her at any other time.
Gong Yutong saw the food she sent, refused to eat it, went out for lunch, and then returned to work. By the time she got off work, Mu Yan had already left. As long as she doesn’t bother me.
She got into the car and drove back to her villa. Gu Xizhi brought Qu Shijin over. That young girl looked terrified when she saw her, like she was looking at a snake. I’d better go back to my own place.
Gong Yutong had just reached the living room when she saw Mu Yan there. She’s truly a shadow.
“CEO must be hungry.” Mu Yan looked at the two dishes and one soup on the coffee table. “I made it. Good night, CEO,” and then left.
Gong Yutong: “…” It took at least half an hour to get from the company to here. It seems she was betting on this, or she ran to all my residences to cook a meal. Thinking this, she called to inquire. Sure enough, Mu Yan hadn’t missed a single location, except for the hotel, where she had just randomly chosen a room.
Looking at the food, she thought about throwing it away, but decided against it. She picked up her chopsticks. It looked appetizing. Is it really good? She picked up some celery and took a bite. The taste was very subtle. She knows my preferences perfectly.
