Why Won’t the Heroine Break Up With Me? [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 8
When Yun Li woke up, Tang Congyue was still asleep. Propping herself up, she glanced out the window and saw a gloomy, overcast sky.
Before the apocalypse, this kind of weather would have been pleasant, but now, it carried an inexplicably oppressive feeling.
Yun Li stared blankly at the sky outside until a sudden urge to use the bathroom snapped her out of her reverie. She picked up the windbreaker that had been draped over her legs, thought for a few seconds, then laid it over Tang Congyue. Just as she was about to get up, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
“Ah!”
Startled, Yun Li let out a soft gasp. Looking down, she met Tang Congyue’s dark eyes.
Tang Congyue was awake.
“Did I wake you?” Yun Li asked softly.
“No,” Tang Congyue replied, her voice slightly hoarse. Her hand slid down from Yun Li’s wrist, intertwining their fingers. “Where are you going?”
“I need to use the bathroom…”
“I’ll go with you.” With that, Tang Congyue picked up the windbreaker and backpack, stood up, and looked at Yun Li. “Let’s go.”
“Okay.”
They went to the restroom together and, after finishing up, took the opportunity to wash up.
“A-Li, are you hungry?” Tang Congyue slung the backpack in front of her, unzipped it, and prepared to get some food for Yun Li.
If they were still in the library, Yun Li would have chosen instant noodles. But now they were in the cafeteria, and she wasn’t sure what might happen if they revealed they had food. Not wanting to take any risks, she opted for the less aromatic compressed biscuits.
“I’m hungry. I’ll just have a compressed biscuit.”
Tang Congyue frowned slightly. “I have bagged instant noodles that can be eaten dry. Do you want some?”
Eating them dry…
Yun Li thought for a moment but ultimately shook her head.
She didn’t have much of an appetite and decided to stick with the compressed biscuits.
“Alright.” Tang Congyue acquiesced, handing Yun Li an unopened pack of compressed biscuits. After Yun Li took it, she fetched a water bottle to fill with water.
Yun Li remained where she was, tearing open the biscuit packet and slowly nibbling on one piece.
By the time Tang Congyue returned, Yun Li had only taken two bites. Seeing the pained expression on her face as she ate, Tang Congyue felt both heartache and helplessness.
“Are you sure you don’t want to try the dry instant noodles?”
Yun Li shook her head firmly and handed the remaining biscuit to Tang Congyue.
Sighing inwardly, Tang Congyue placed the bottle of warm water in Yun Li’s arms.
“Drinking some water with it might make it easier.”
Yun Li thought that made sense and nodded.
The two stood there eating their compressed biscuits. Meanwhile, Tang Congyue checked her phone, it was only a little past eight, and very few people were awake. After finishing one biscuit and barely filling their stomachs, they returned to their previous resting spot.
But barely a moment after sitting down, Yun Li couldn’t resist standing up again. She walked to the window, sat down, and gazed out at the scenery.
Tang Congyue stayed by her side as always. Noticing Yun Li’s brown curls were a bit messy, she took a folding comb from her backpack, unfolded it, and began gently combing Yun Li’s hair.
Feeling Tang Congyue’s movements, Yun Li didn’t resist. As her hair was being combed, her peach-blossom eyes, veiled with a hazy mist, narrowed slightly.
“Mmm, so comfortable…”
Just as she thought this, she caught a glimpse of the situation downstairs out of the corner of her eye and couldn’t help but let out a soft exclamation.
“What’s wrong?” Tang Congyue asked.
“Congyue, look, it’s the patrol team.”
Tang Congyue put away her comb and moved a little closer to Yun Li. Her dark eyes peered through the window downward, spotting the five people below.
“How do you know they’re the patrol team?”
“Are you stupid? Zhu Yaqin is among them, isn’t she?”
Zhu Yaqin had mentioned before that she was going to join the patrol team. Since she was with them now, didn’t that mean these five were the freshly formed patrol team?
Tang Congyue: “…”
She had only glanced briefly earlier and hadn’t noticed Zhu Yaqin was in the group.
While Tang Congyue remained silent, the five-person patrol team downstairs began circling the cafeteria. Only when they disappeared from Yun Li’s sight did she turn around, her beautiful peach blossom eyes fixed intently on Tang Congyue.
“Congyue, why don’t you want to join the patrol team?”
Just as Zhu Yaqin had said, Tang Congyue was skilled in combat, so joining the patrol team wouldn’t be an issue for her.
But as soon as the question was asked, Tang Congyue countered, “Do you want me to join?”
Yun Li: “…”
She was at a loss for words.
“Why does it matter what I want? The point is whether you want to or not!” Yun Li shot Tang Congyue a glare.
In response, Tang Congyue simply smiled and reached out to pat Yun Li’s head. “Let’s talk about it later. There’s no rush.”
“Huh?”
Yun Li blinked her eyes. “So, does that mean you’re interested in the patrol team after all?”
But Tang Congyue didn’t answer, only smiled again.
Dissatisfied with her reaction, Yun Li raised both hands, cupped Tang Congyue’s face, and squeezed it firmly toward the center, slightly distorting Tang Congyue’s fair and delicate features.
“Tell me, tell me! Hurry up and say it!”
Tang Congyue still didn’t speak, but her eyes narrowed slightly, giving off a somewhat dangerous vibe. Before Yun Li could react, Tang Congyue had already cupped Yun Li’s face in return. With a slight push, she leaned in and kissed her, once, then again, immediately throwing Yun Li into a fluster.
“Stop, don’t do that!”
As she spoke, Yun Li glanced around nervously. Seeing that no one was paying attention to them, she relaxed slightly and glared fiercely at Tang Congyue.
Tang Congyue acted as if she hadn’t noticed, even licking her pale lips as if savoring the moment.
Yun Li: “…”
Damn, why does that feel a little… seductive?
Yun Li couldn’t help but steal another glance, then another, until she couldn’t take it anymore. She leaned forward and covered Tang Congyue’s mouth with her hand.
“Stop licking your lips!”
“I’m not licking yours,” Tang Congyue raised an eyebrow.
“You… don’t say things like that!”
“Why not? What are you so shy about?”
In the three months they’d been together, they had kissed countless times, yet Yun Li always got flustered. Of course, Tang Congyue loved seeing her shy like this, but she couldn’t understand why Yun Li was still so bashful. After so many kisses, and even a few close calls, shouldn’t she have gotten used to it by now?
“I’m not shy! It’s just… it’s you who’s…” At this point, Yun Li suddenly faltered, her misty peach blossom eyes fixed helplessly on Tang Congyue.
Tang Congyue also stared at her, and seeing her unable to speak, his dark eyes narrowed again. Then, in a place Yun Li couldn’t see, he extended his warm, moist tongue and gently licked her palm.
Yun Li: “!!!”
She gasped softly and quickly withdrew her hand. Her tender, dewy cheeks flushed visibly, and her peach-blossom eyes grew moist and alluring.
“You…!”
“What about me?”
“Can you not be so provocative?!”
Licking his lips with such a sensual air was one thing, but why did he have to lick her palm? Wasn’t he afraid it was dirty?
Perhaps sensing Yun Li’s thoughts, Tang Congyue chuckled softly and said, “It’s not dirty.”
Hearing this, Yun Li merely glared at Tang Congyue without saying a word.
“Really, it’s not dirty.”
“Alright, alright! Stop talking about it!”
Seeing the blush spreading all the way to Yun Li’s neck, Tang Congyue appropriately restrained himself and didn’t “tease” her further.
Noticing this, Yun Li secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
