- Why Won’t the Heroine Break Up With Me? [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 1 - The Spoiled Miss Wants to Break Up
“Why is it compressed biscuits again? I don’t want to eat compressed biscuits.”
In the corner, a woman in a black dress frowned slightly, looking rather unwillingly at the woman opposite her.
The woman in the black dress was exceptionally beautiful. Her skin was fair and smooth like fine jade, her brows delicate like distant mountains, and her captivating peach-blossom eyes, with their naturally upturned corners, shimmered with a watery glow, exuding an irresistible charm. Even as she frowned in displeasure, her beauty remained undiminished, evoking a sense of pity in those who saw her.
The woman squatting opposite her paused briefly, the hand holding the compressed biscuit freezing mid-air. Before she could speak, an untimely voice chimed in from the side.
“What era is this now? We’re lucky to even have compressed biscuits to eat, and you’re still complaining? Do you really think you’re some kind of pampered young lady?”
Huang Xinyuan couldn’t stand such a delicate, fussy woman, especially in times like these.
Her words angered the beautiful woman. Biting her full, crimson lips, she glared fiercely at Huang Xinyuan, but her anger seemed more like a coquettish pout than genuine fury.
“What’s it to you? I wasn’t even talking to you!”
Seeing her dare to talk back, Huang Xinyuan sneered and was about to retort when her good friend Zhou Tianqing gently tugged at her arm, whispering softly, “Xinyuan, stop. This isn’t our business.”
“It seems there are still sensible people around,” the woman in the black dress hummed lightly.
Frowning, Huang Xinyuan wanted to say more but was stopped again by Zhou Tianqing, who gave her a meaningful look, signaling her to drop the matter.
Reluctantly, she shot an annoyed glance at the woman in the corner before turning away in dissatisfaction.
Seeing that Huang Xinyuan had fallen silent, Yun Li shifted her attention away from her. Her peach-blossom eyes fixed intently on the pale-faced woman before her as she repeated her earlier words, this time in a much softer voice: “I don’t want to eat compressed biscuits…”
She paused, her delicate brows furrowing with a hint of grievance, and her fingers hooked around the woman’s pinky. “Congyue, I don’t want to eat them…”
Before she could finish, the woman named Tang Congyue grasped her hand in return and raised her other hand to gently stroke Yun Li’s warm, soft cheek, her tone gentle. “I understand. I’ll go make you some instant noodles.”
Yun Li was momentarily stunned, not expecting Tang Congyue to say that. Before she could protest further, the pale-faced woman had already risen, taking the compressed biscuits with her.
Her lips parted slightly, but in the end, she closed them helplessly.
Fine, instant noodles it is. At least they’re better than dry, choking compressed biscuits.
With that thought, Yun Li hugged her arms tightly and stared blankly at the floor tiles.
Her name was Yun Li, a newly hired employee at the Quick Transmigration Bureau. Right after starting her job, she was assigned a mission.
Her task was to become the female lead’s girlfriend. Once the female lead’s official love interest appeared, she was to throw tantrums and make a scene, forcing the female lead to break up with her so she could end up with her destined partner.
Now, she had arrived in her first world.
This was an apocalyptic world. She had arrived six months early and spent the first half of that time devising a plan. It took her three months to successfully win over the female lead, and they were now in a relationship.
She had been sweetly together with the female lead for three months, but a week ago, the sky suddenly cracked open, and countless ferocious, hideous monsters emerged from the fissures. They devoured anyone they encountered, ruthless and savage.
After the monsters descended, Yun Li knew the plot had begun. Soon, her girlfriend Tang Congyue would meet her true destined partner. All Yun Li needed to do was start acting out during this time, making Tang Congyue’s affection for her completely vanish until she had no choice but to break up with Yun Li. Then, Tang Congyue would develop feelings with her true partner, and the two would officially be together, achieving a happy ending.
Thinking of this, Yun Li couldn’t help but lick her slightly dry lips.
Speaking of which, it had already been a week since the monsters descended, why hadn’t Tang Congyue’s true partner appeared yet?
Yun Li hadn’t received any specific information; she only knew that Tang Congyue’s destined partner was named Ou Yunru. Her task was simply to successfully break up with Tang Congyue after encountering Ou Yunru.
Lost in thought, she didn’t notice Tang Congyue approaching with a steaming bowl of instant noodles. It was only when the savory aroma reached her that she snapped back to reality.
“A-Li, come eat some noodles.”
The noodles were braised beef flavor, their scent overwhelmingly enticing, drawing the attention of nearby survivors.
Huang Xinyuan and Zhou Tianqing also glanced over. Seeing how well Tang Congyue treated Yun Li, Huang Xinyuan felt a twinge of displeasure.
It really was different for pretty people, every request of theirs could be fulfilled.
With that thought, Huang Xinyuan couldn’t help but look at Tang Congyue, who was holding the bowl of noodles.
She knew Tang Congyue, she was a top student in the finance department at their university, known for her aloof demeanor and seeming indifference to everything, like an unattainable flower on a high peak. But three months ago, she had unexpectedly gotten together with the department belle from the Chinese department. Since then, the two had been inseparable, shocking everyone who witnessed it.
Yun Li had no idea what Huang Xinyuan was thinking, and even if she did, she wouldn’t care. Right now, her attention was entirely on the braised beef noodles.
So fragrant.
Really, so fragrant.
After three days of eating compressed biscuits, she could finally have something warm.
Initially, Yun Li had been a bit disdainful of instant noodles, but now she had surrendered to the irresistible aroma of the braised beef flavor. So, when Tang Congyue called her to eat, she didn’t stand on ceremony and simply took the noodles.
Just as she was about to start eating, she caught a glimpse of Tang Congyue sitting down beside her and slowly tearing open a packet of compressed biscuits. Suddenly, Yun Li felt a pang of guilt and wanted to ask if she’d like some noodles instead. But then she remembered the task she had to complete and hardened her heart, refusing to look at Tang Congyue any further as she silently began eating the noodles.
It had been a long time since Yun Li had eaten instant noodles. At first, she found the taste somewhat novel, but after a few bites, she grew tired of the flavor and didn’t feel like eating anymore. However, considering their current situation, instant noodles were already a decent option, so she forced herself to take a few more bites. Eventually, she really couldn’t eat any more and just listlessly stirred the noodles in the container.
Tang Congyue, sitting beside her, noticed her behavior and spoke in a hushed, slightly hoarse voice.
“What’s wrong?”
Perhaps not wanting Huang Xinyuan to notice what was happening between them, Yun Li pursed her lips, which had turned even redder after eating the noodles, and replied softly, “I don’t want to eat anymore…”
Even if she hadn’t said anything, Tang Congyue understood Yun Li’s thoughts from her actions. She sighed inwardly but still took the instant noodles from Yun Li’s hands.
“Congyue?”
“Don’t waste food.”
With that, Tang Congyue showed no disdain for the half-eaten noodles and began eating them bite by bite with the fork.
Seeing this, Yun Li felt a bit embarrassed, her ears hidden beneath her brown curls turning red.
Yun Li was only half-full, and now, drowsiness began to set in as the food settled. She covered her mouth and yawned.
By then, Tang Congyue had finished the noodles. She stood up to dispose of the trash, and when she returned, she sat beside Yun Li. Noticing how sleepy Yun Li looked, her heart softened, and even her usually cold eyes carried a hint of tenderness.
She reached out and patted Yun Li’s head. “Sleepy? Take a nap.”
With that, Tang Congyue let Yun Li rest her head on her lap, then took off her windbreaker and draped it over Yun Li’s bare, fair calves.
Tang Congyue’s meticulous care warmed Yun Li’s heart, but the thought that this person would one day belong to another woman made her feel a pang of bitterness.
She could only cherish this kindness for as long as it lasted.
With a regretful sigh in her heart, Yun Li found a comfortable position and closed her eyes.
They were sitting in a corner, where they should have gone unnoticed. Unfortunately, Yun Li was simply too striking, even in the dimly lit corner, she seemed to glow. The surrounding survivors couldn’t help but glance in their direction, but when their eyes met Tang Congyue’s icy gaze, they shuddered and quickly averted their stares, not daring to look again.
Yun Li, lost in sleep, remained completely unaware of it all.
