- Chapter 5 - Zerg World (5), Alex, Let’s Make a Deal.
A tool?
What kind of tool?!
In the chaos of his consciousness, Alex only sensed someone approaching him. The next second, the touch of smooth fabric brushed against his face.
Fingertips slid slowly from his forehead to his lips, as if inspecting merchandise. It was a sensation that was both uncomfortable and instinctively repulsive.
Alex was inherently someone who disliked close contact with others, especially now, amidst a mental power riot. He resisted every attempt to get near him.
After all, who else would be allowed near him at a time like this, besides those males who knew only how to enjoy themselves and treated military females as vulgar conversation topics?
“Get out!”
His head snapped to the right. Amidst the clattering of chains, the wound on Alex’s wrist deepened by an inch. Yet, as if oblivious to the pain, he continued to pull violently toward the person beside him. There was no doubt that the moment he broke free from his restraints, he would twist the neck of this reckless male who dared to stand here and scrutinize him.
The reckless person, Chu Sicheng, did not sense Alex’s rage—or perhaps he sensed it and simply did not care.
His fingertips retracted a second before the military female could bite them. Chu Sicheng looked like a master seeing his normally well-behaved puppy suddenly misbehave, his face full of feigned disbelief.
“How is it that he even bites?!”
System: {Host, maybe you should take a look at what time it is.}
The villain is suffering so much he is nearly dying. Is the most urgent issue really whether or not he bites?
{What else would it be?}
Chu Sicheng unhurriedly unwrapped the bandages on his wrist. His gaze fell upon the military female on the iron bed, who was staring back with crimson, vertical pupils. The corners of his lips curled slightly.
{After all, I do not like disobedient tools.}
System: {…}
Good grief, is this the kind of bigshot who retires from the Villain Department?
Of all the protagonists it had seen before, every single one would take a detour to avoid a villain. Now, look at this. This new host not only refuses to take a detour but actively leans in, trying to turn the villain into his tool!
The world has truly changed.
The system, encountering a villainous protagonist for the first time, was filled with complex emotions. On the other side, the military females watching through the monitors as Chu Sicheng tore off his bandages wore grim expressions.
“Is it really okay for us to use General Saxon for an experiment like this?”
“Do you have a better idea?”
Alex was naturally immune to suppressants. Now, he was in heat amidst a mental power riot. If they simply isolated him as before, without a male’s pheromones to soothe him, the damage from this riot would be permanent and irreversible.
As one of the only two SS-rank military females in the Empire, such damage was unacceptable—both for Alex himself and for the Empire.
Moreover: “This way, we can also verify whether it was truly Excellency Ryan who soothed him during the last riot.”
As soon as these words were spoken, no one in the monitoring room raised further objections.
Because they were indeed suspicious.
Even though most of them had watched that incredible live broadcast—and some had even seen the rioting Alex fall peacefully into Chu Sicheng’s arms with their own eyes—the label of a mere “F” rank made them doubt their own eyes. They wondered if what they had seen was real, or if Chu Sicheng had simply gotten lucky with the timing.
The idea of an F-rank male soothing an SS-rank female in the middle of a mental power riot was, by any logic, preposterous.
For a time, everyone remained silent, fixing their eyes on the monitor.
On the screen, the white sheets beneath Alex’s wrists were already stained with large patches of red. He looked like a trapped beast, bound by chains and unable to escape. His eyes were blood-red, and the insect markings on his face flickered in and out of view. Even so, he refused to let anyone near him.
“Get out! You damned male, get the hell away from me!”
He did not need any male!
Especially not now, at such a pathetic and humiliating moment, receiving the arrogant charity of a male.
In his blood-red vision, Alex seemed to see that narrow crack in a door again. Through that crack, he saw a figure kneeling on the ground, naked, stripped of all dignity.
No…
He did not want to be like that.
Every Zerg knew that after receiving a male’s pheromones, a military female would experience a period of continuous dependency. They would crave it and become so addicted that they would give up everything just for a male’s handout.
To other Zerg, this might be nothing significant; after all, it had been the unspoken rule of male-female interaction for nearly a thousand years.
But Alex was unwilling.
He would rather die! He would not allow his dignity to be trampled under the feet of a creature hundreds of times weaker than himself, whose mind held nothing but food, drink, and carnal desires.
So…
It was not allowed!
Absolutely not!
The black insect markings grew wildly, roaring as they surged into that scalding lava. Alex’s consciousness vanished completely. His sanity snapped like an over-inflated balloon, leaving behind only fragments of instinct filled with slaughter and destruction.
Bang!
With a violent crash, the chains binding Alex to the iron bed were torn from their roots by the military female. The flying shards cut his cheek, making him even more frenzied.
His blood-red vertical pupils shifted, naturally locking onto the only living creature standing by the bed. Licking the tips of his teeth, Alex lunged at Chu Sicheng in the next second.
“Oh no!”
The people in the monitoring room finally panicked. Regardless of whether Chu Sicheng’s rank was S or F, he was still a male.
He could not die. Or rather, he could not die at the hands of these military females at the tribunal just after his identity was exposed and before his true rank was officially announced!
The Chief Judge, standing near the monitor, no longer cared about how dangerous an SS-rank frenzy was. He slammed the pager, intending to organize the army to burst into the isolation room and suppress Alex at all costs.
But even though he moved with his greatest speed, it seemed to be too late.
On the monitor at that moment, the completely mindless Alex had already grabbed the poor male by the neck and slammed him violently into the wall.
Blood sprayed from the male’s mouth. It looked as though the monitor screen was about to be dyed red.
But just then, before the eyes of the crowd, the military female—who had lost all reason and thought only of slaughter—stopped his movements a second before snapping the male’s neck.
The blood at the corner of his mouth was wiped away bit by bit by a fingertip. Before the shocked eyes of the crowd, the male who had narrowly escaped death did not take the opportunity to flee. Instead, he rested his other free hand on Alex’s shoulder. Then, as the blood-red faded from the female’s vision, he drew closer, inch by inch.
His neck was still being held by Alex, and mottled red marks remained on his snow-white skin from the struggle. Yet, as if he could not feel the pain, there was no expression of agony on his face. He even flashed a smile at Alex.
“Alex…”
Chu Sicheng’s voice was deep with a hint of raspiness. Perhaps because of the gentle tone, combined with those blue-gray eyes that the plot favored exceptionally, there was an indescribable, irresistible magic in the dim isolation room.
Involuntarily, Alex leaned in an inch closer to Chu Sicheng. But immediately realizing his current actions, he snapped his head back like a startled animal. He quickly released his grip on Chu Sicheng and stepped back, trying to distance himself from the male.
Unfortunately, before he could move, the hand that had been resting on his shoulder slid down and grabbed the tie at his chest.
The scene from the execution room was repeating itself, but unlike last time when his consciousness was fading, Alex was now gradually regaining his senses.
Then, he heard a light chuckle near his ear, followed by the male’s detestable voice:
“Why run? I have saved you once again.”
“You…”
“What about me?” Chu Sicheng blinked, the smile on his lips blooming even more brilliantly.
“Do you want to thank me?”
Thank him?
Alex’s brain rotated sluggishly.
If it were as Chu Sicheng said—that he had truly saved him twice—then he should indeed be thankful.
But for some reason, the partially conscious Alex looked at the smiling male and felt no desire to thank him. Instead, a nameless fire burned from his heart to his brain, making him want to reach out and snap that neck once again.
However, whether it was because the other party was perceptive or his own gaze was too naked, before he could raise his hand, his body was yanked forward by the male’s grip on his tie.
As his head lowered involuntarily, and before Alex could grow angry, a citrus scent mixed with a faint smell of blood enveloped him.
Blood-stained lips were inches away. As they moved, a tongue flickered in and out of view.
“A good boy does not repay kindness with enmity.”
Take him, for example; even after being slammed by a frenzied Alex until he spat blood, he still returned good for evil and soothed him with pheromones.
So…
A fingertip lightly wiped a bead of blood from his lip. In that green lake where the lava was gradually cooling, the male slowly reached out and smeared all the blood from his fingertip onto Alex’s pale lips.
The citrus-scented pheromones carrying the smell of blood surged toward Alex instantly. The familiar feeling of drowsiness appeared once again..
Only this time, before falling, Alex saw the male’s face clearly.
He saw the other party wink at him, then tilt his head to reveal the slender, fragile neck beneath.
Blue veins, mottled red marks, and a sentence that seemed to drift with the scent of bloody citrus:
“Alex, let’s make a deal.”
