What to Do if You Transmigrate Into the Body of the Number One Scumbag? - Chapter 4
“It’s such a small injury, yet I had to ask for your help. Since I’m a man, it probably seems far too delicate…”
Delicate? Normally, Gu Shiyan would have agreed with that sentiment. If any other man had made such a fuss over a tiny scratch, he would have felt nothing but disdain. Yet, because it was Luo Mu, and because the person being “troubled” was himself, he didn’t mind at all. In fact, he felt a strange sense of… pleasure?
The boy had been raised in a pampered environment since childhood, so what was wrong with being a bit delicate? It wasn’t as if he lacked the merit for it.
“Men feel pain too,” Gu Shiyan said smoothly. “Besides, small injuries shouldn’t be ignored. Moreover, as your legal husband, it is only right that I take care of you.”
Luo Mu’s eyes sparkled. He looked down at the large hand holding his own; it was warm, dry, and deeply reassuring. He asked softly, “Then in the future, if anything happens, can I always ask for your help?”
Gu Shiyan felt the boy’s fingertips lightly brush against his palm. The faint, fluttering sensation sent a ripple through his heart. He looked Luo Mu directly in the eyes and replied, “Of course you can.”
“Husband, you are so good to me!”
“Mhm.”
“How long do I have to keep this band-aid on?” Luo Mu asked. Gu Shiyan couldn’t tell if it was just his imagination, but the boy seemed to be acting spoiled.
The relaxed corners of his mouth tightened slightly as he found himself struggling to handle the boy’s frequent, subtle displays of affection. He kept his eyes fixed on the boy’s hand to avoid meeting his gaze; Luo Mu’s eyes were so fervent that looking into them for more than a second felt like being melted by high heat.
“Keep it on for two days first. Remember not to let it touch any water.”
“Ah, but then what about washing my hands? And tonight before bed, washing my face, brushing my teeth, taking a shower…”
Meeting Luo Mu’s bright, wide eyes, Gu Shiyan once again experienced the feeling of dealing with a child who had a never-ending list of questions. It seemed he was destined to give all the patience and helplessness of his life to this one youth.
“If you can skip washing it today, then skip it. I’ll help you with your nighttime routine. As for the shower… just endure it for one day. It’ll be the same if you wash tomorrow morning.”
Luo Mu was satisfied. The tips of his ears turned a soft pink. For someone who could blurt out such clingy words so easily, one might think he didn’t know how to be shy, but he restrained his joyful smile. Even so, he couldn’t hide the excitement in his voice.
“Thank you, Husband!”
For some reason, as he looked at the generous smile on the boy’s face, the discomfort Gu Shiyan felt from being in a completely foreign place began to dissipate. The irritability that had been weighing on his mind was replaced by a sense of contentment.
Luo Mu needed to head upstairs to change. Since Gu Shiyan was already dressed, he remained in the living room to wait while familiarizing himself with the details of the “old family residence” they were about to visit. His main concern was facing two strangers who were supposed to be his closest relatives. As the parents of the original owner, they would naturally know their son well. Since he was in the dark about the past, he wasn’t sure how to act. Should he simply claim he had forgotten everything, or just take things as they came?
If he were to tell them that he was actually a different person inhabiting their son’s body, they would likely just think he had lost his mind.
As he was deep in thought, the butler approached him. “Young Master, the Madam is asking for you to go upstairs and see him.”
Gu Shiyan was puzzled and wanted to ask what the matter was, but he ultimately remained silent. He nodded, put down what he was holding, and headed upstairs.
Upon reaching the bedroom, he found the youth in the walk-in closet. Luo Mu was in the middle of changing into a white undershirt. A flash of his smooth, glowing back caught Gu Shiyan’s eye, and he instinctively turned his back. He heard the rustle of fabric behind him, followed by the boy’s surprised and happy voice a few seconds later. Then, he felt his sleeve being grabbed.
“Husband, you came!”
“Mhm. Why did you ask me to come up?”
Luo Mu let out a soft “Ah” and scurried over to a nearby wardrobe. He pulled it open and looked at Gu Shiyan with a bit of embarrassment. “I… I wanted you to help me pick out an outfit. We are going to see Father and Mother, and I didn’t know what would be appropriate to wear…”
The youth was truly too obedient, his thoughtfulness almost heartbreaking. Even choosing an outfit required so much deliberation. Gu Shiyan sighed, wanting to say that anything would be fine, but he changed his mind. He scanned the wardrobe, pulled out a set, and handed it over.
“This one will do.”
Clutching the clothes, Luo Mu nodded happily. “Okay! I’ll change right away. Wait for me just a little longer, Husband!”
Gu Shiyan went out and sat on the sofa outside the closet to wait.
When Luo Mu emerged, Gu Shiyan first heard a sweet call of “Husband” before his gaze landed on the youth. The sight stunned him. The boy’s proportions were excellent and his skin was fair; the white undershirt paired with a pale yellow jacket made him look even younger, like a vibrant teenager in the prime of his youth.
He was wearing light blue denim jeans that were lined with fleece for warmth. Such pants usually made one look bulky or stout, but on him, they did nothing to hide his long, straight legs.
Gu Shiyan had picked the outfit at random, mostly just to ensure the boy stayed warm, but he realized now that Luo Mu would look good in anything.
Seeing that the man was staring at him without saying a word, Luo Mu grew nervous. He tugged at the hem of his jacket and asked tentatively, “Is wearing this to the old residence… not formal enough?”
Realizing he had been staring for too long, Gu Shiyan quickly looked away. “No. Don’t be nervous. Just stay close to me.”
Luo Mu nodded and stepped forward. “Are we leaving now?”
Gu Shiyan nodded, but his eyes caught something. He dropped a quick “Wait a moment” and vanished, reappearing shortly after with a scarf in his hand.
He wrapped the plush scarf around the boy’s bare neck. After a moment’s thought, he also placed a knit hat on the boy’s head. Only after seeing the youth completely bundled up did he nod with satisfaction.
“There. Let’s go now. Tan Yu should be here.”
It was actually only early winter, and Luo Mu felt he was wrapped up a bit too thickly. However, because Gu Shiyan had personally dressed him, he was loath to take anything off, even if the car’s heater made him feel a bit warm.
Throughout the journey, the boy followed closely behind the man. After getting into the car, he sat as close to him as possible. In the confined space, Gu Shiyan felt as though a faint, lingering fragrance was drifting through the air—a scent of fresh orange blossoms mixed with a hint of milk. It teased his nose, drawing his attention again and again.
He couldn’t tell if the scent came from the clothes or something else; he hadn’t noticed it last night or this morning. Now that they were in the same space for an extended period, Gu Shiyan began to notice many small details he had previously overlooked.
For instance, Luo Mu seemed very dependent on him. He also noticed that the boy was likely overheating, as fine beads of sweat had appeared on the tip of his nose. He realized then that both the house and the car were heated, making heavy layers unnecessary. He had only been thinking about the cold temperature outside. Even though he was clearly hot, the youth didn’t make any move to remove the scarf, the hat, or any of the extra layers.
“Husband, what are you thinking about?” Luo Mu asked suddenly, tilting his head.
Seeing that the man was staring at him in silence, he couldn’t help but break the quiet of the car and take the initiative to ask.
