What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 4
Too many people had asked for her contact information.
Yan Qingran couldn’t be bothered to explain repeatedly.
She had a dedicated WeChat account for work matters, filled with all sorts of contacts. Her moments were strictly professional, much like an enterprise WeChat account.
Her phone kept pinging with WeChat notifications, still stuck on the QR code name card interface.
She had assumed there wouldn’t be much need for interaction, but in reality, more freshmen approached her to chat and make conversation. After learning she wasn’t an academic advisor but just a senior student, they became even more enthusiastic, leaving her somewhat overwhelmed.
By midday, the crowd gradually thinned. Under the scorching noon sun, no one wanted to be outdoors.
Lunch was uniformly provided by the university prepacked cafeteria meals featuring two meat and two vegetable dishes, all signature specialties of Q University.
Yan Qingran wasn’t particularly picky about food and could manage a few bites of plain rice.
After lunch, Yi Hui offered to treat everyone to bubble tea.
Yan Qingran politely declined. Bubble tea with sugar was too sweet for her, and without sugar, it didn’t taste good. The same went for cola, it was too sweet.
Most beverages were overly sweet to her. Over time, others assumed she simply didn’t drink any.
“Senior, I’m going to the restroom.”
She was feeling drowsy, having slept poorly the previous night. At this hour, she was particularly tired, and splashing cold water on her face would help.
Yi Hui pulled the chair aside to let her pass. “Sure, go ahead. It’s not crowded now, so take your time.”
Having sat all morning at a table that was too low and didn’t allow her to stretch her legs, Yan Qingran felt uncomfortable and constrained.
Sighing, it was better to stand and walk around a bit.
She stretched, her body arching gracefully in the sunlight like a taut bow slender yet powerful, radiating a sense of beauty that suggested she could kick down a century-old camphor tree as thick as a person with a single strike.
Accustomed to being stared at and having her photo taken surreptitiously on the street, Yan Qingran walked calmly and unhurriedly.
In their ABO world, restrooms were generally separated by gender, but within each restroom, there were also partitions for alphas, Omegas, and betas, with the number of stalls determined by population ratios.
The ages of sixteen to eighteen were the differentiation period, during which most people underwent a major transformation in their lives.
Yan Qingran was an S-class alpha, the highest rank possessing a physique far more robust than average.
Genes had granted them superior physical prowess but had also taken something in return.
The stronger an alpha’s abilities, the more intense their heat symptoms and the harder it was for them to control their pheromones.
She remembered the first year after her differentiation, when she couldn’t control her strength and broke many things. During her fever period, she wreaked havoc in the isolation room, even smashing a part of the table.
The instructor responsible for teaching her pheromone control had joked that her future Omega would surely be very satisfied.
Yan Qingran knew what he meant. Generally, high-ranking alphas would soon have a fixed Omega partner after differentiation due to mutual needs in certain aspects.
But S-class alphas like her, who insisted on enduring their heat period alone, were rare.
Doing the math, her heat period for this month was approaching, it would start tomorrow.
An alpha’s heat period isn’t as restrictive as an omega’s. After receiving suppressant injections, they can still carry on with work and daily life by wearing suppressant patches. Those with exceptionally strong self-control might not even need the patches.
The restroom was quite crowded.
Yan Qingran washed her hands first. The water flowed along the veins on the back of her hand, trickling through her fingers and dripping from her fingertips.
She had always taken good care of her hands, maintaining them meticulously, because for a female alpha, hands were incredibly important.
Then, she tucked her hair behind her ear, bent over, and scooped a handful of water to wash her face. The cool sensation quickly helped clear her mind.
After grabbing a tissue to wipe the water droplets from her face, she felt someone watching her.
It was a direct, somewhat puzzled gaze.
The senses of a high-level alpha were remarkably sharp.
When she turned to look, the person had already left the restroom, leaving behind only a glimpse of slender, pale calves and the upper part of red-and-black high-top sneakers.
Who could it be?
Yan Qingran had a vague sense of familiarity, but she couldn’t figure out who it was.
As she lowered her gaze in thought, a girl rushed in from outside, stumbling and collapsing against her.
The sweet scent of omega pheromones watermelon-flavored washed over her.
Yan Qingran was exasperated. Why did she always seem to attract omegas in heat? Every omega in estrus seemed to collapse right in front of her.
Su Meng steadied herself by clutching Yan Qingran’s clothes, then took a step back to lean against the wall. Her face was flushed, and she panted softly, head bowed. “Sorry.”
Yan Qingran frowned. “Su Meng?”
“Ranran?”
Su Meng glanced up at her, her eyes red and teary, strands of hair stuck to her temples with sweat, like a drenched rabbit.
She whispered an explanation, “I thought it would be fine since it’s the last day of my heat.”
Amid the bustling crowd, her disheveled appearance drew many curious glances. Yan Qingran kept her distance the entire time.
“Did you bring a suppressant patch?”
Su Meng pressed a hand to the back of her neck, struggling to hold back. “No.”
She could feel her rationality slowly eroding, the heat spreading throughout her body, burning intensely.
Yan Qingran took a deep breath. “I’ll go get a doctor from the school clinic. You should hide inside for now.”
Su Meng murmured softly, “Why can’t it be you?”
The words were as fragile as her current state.
After saying it, she let out a self-mocking laugh.
Yan Qingran stared at her, opening her mouth to speak but finding no words. She could only turn to fetch a doctor.
Suddenly, as if mustering strength from nowhere, Su Meng rushed to her side, gripping her hand tightly and gazing at her longingly. “Yan Qingran, can’t you stay?”
Her eyes and voice were filled with fervent emotion, desperately trying to convey something to this clueless alpha.
Even the sweet, refreshing watermelon scent of her pheromones in the air grew cloyingly thick.
“I’m going to get you a doctor.”
Yan Qingran furrowed her brows and took a step back. Su Meng, drawn to the coolness of her palm, pressed closer again, reaching out to embrace her.
As the two of them tugged and pulled, they ended up blocking the path for most people trying to exit.
Yan Qingran easily pried her hand away, grabbed a tissue, placed it over Su Meng’s wrist, and pulled her further inside. With a stern expression, she pushed Su Meng into an omega-designated restroom stall. “Get a grip.”
After she left, Su Meng sat on the toilet lid in a daze, wondering how any alpha could resist the allure of an omega in heat.
Could Yan Qingran be, frigid?
Having resolved Su Meng’s matter, Yan Qingran was on her way back when her phone rang. She took it out and glanced at the screen.
It was Zhuang Wei.
She pressed the answer button. “Hello?”
The voice on the other end still sounded somewhat weak. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Zhuang Wei paused, saying nothing, and Yan Qingran waited quietly.
They weren’t close to begin with, so having nothing to say was perfectly normal.
“Did you buy those things? And the hospital fees, how much were they? I’ll transfer the money to you later.”
Yan Qingran heard herself instinctively reply politely, “No need. Just take good care of yourself.”
“Mm. Thank you.”
Zhuang Wei repeated her thanks again, as if they were strangers.
The call ended…
The entire conversation lasted only a few sentences.
The sun overhead grew increasingly intense, and the cement pavement beneath her feet seemed to radiate heat. Yan Qingran checked the time 3 p.m.
She quickened her pace, heading toward the registration tent.
From a distance, Yan Qingran spotted a striking figure standing in front of the Architecture Department’s tent. The person wore an oversized printed T-shirt and black athletic shorts that ended mid-thigh, revealing a pair of long legs. On their feet were high-top sneakers in a red-and-black color scheme with a prominent logo.
It was the same girl she had seen earlier at the washbasin.
From the back, she looked quite tall around 170 cm and based on her style, she was likely an alpha.
What a coincidence, she was actually a new student in their Architecture Department. A slight smile touched Yan Qingran’s lips as she strode over to the girl’s side in a few quick steps.
Yi Hui looked up at her. “You’re back. This is Cha Yuxuan. Help her get the materials.”
Yan Qingran walked past Cha Yuxuan to the inner seating area. “Sure.”
As she passed by, Yan Qingran caught a faint whiff of perfume like a camellia tree after the rain. It was a delicate, layered fragrance, one that required a moment to fully appreciate.
Cha Yuxuan was busy filling out forms and didn’t have time to look up.
Yan Qingran couldn’t get a clear view of her face either, as her cascading hair covered most of it.
“Cha Yuxuan.”
Yan Qingran silently repeated the name in her mind while bending down to search for the materials, guessing which characters made up the name.
“All done.”
The three syllables reached Yan Qingran’s ears, the tone strangely familiar.
She sped up her search, flipping through the documents one by one.
Found it!
She pulled out the file folder and glanced at the campus ID inside. The photo showed a slightly youthful face with a standard eight-tooth smile typical for an ID photo.
It was her!
Yan Qingran’s movement to look up faltered for a second before she quickly regained her composure. Holding the file folder, she waited for Cha Yuxuan to finish packing her backpack.
“Need any help?”
“I just think, you don’t seem very capable.”
She couldn’t help stealing a couple of glances at Cha Yuxuan. Without makeup, she looked even prettier than she had the previous night. When she wasn’t being provoking, her expression softened considerably, like a gentle kitten, docile and calm.
After organizing her documents, Cha Yuxuan looked up at the person in front of her, then looked again. Once she recognized Yan Qingran, she froze for a moment, blinked, then blinked again.
That reaction… was a little adorable.
Yan Qingran couldn’t suppress a smile but said nothing, simply handing the materials over to her.
Cha Yuxuan took the documents and placed them in her backpack, zipped it up, then slung it over her shoulder with a single, fluid motion.
She cracked her knuckles and offered a sincere smile. “Senior, what a coincidence.”
Yan Qingran licked her back teeth. “What a coincidence.”
For the first time, Cha Yuxuan found it so hard to keep a conversation going. She wanted to avoid bringing up last night’s incident, but her mouth had already betrayed her. “Last night, you never answered me, what’s your relationship with that Omega?”
Damn it. The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted them. Would her senior get angry?
Yan Qingran’s expression visibly stiffened.
She crossed her arms in front of her, shifted her legs, and adjusted her sitting posture. “I don’t like him.”
It was the truth, a carefully considered response.
“Got it…” Cha Yuxuan made an “OK” gesture and smiled faintly. “Can I have your contact info?”
“Sure.”
Yan Qingran instinctively reached for her phone but paused, her finger sliding from the green WeChat icon to the notes app. “Leave me yours. I’ll add you later.”
Because her WeChat was still stuck on the public account QR code interface.
Cha Yuxuan turned off her phone screen. “Alright. 198xxxxxxxx that’s my phone number. My WeChat is the same.”
Yi Hui, sitting nearby, hadn’t intended to eavesdrop on their conversation. But upon hearing Yan Qingran exchanging contact information with someone, he couldn’t help but glance over a few more times.
Both were stunning beauties truly, exceptional people were naturally drawn to each other. He sighed quietly to himself.
“198xxxxxxxx.”
Yan Qingran repeated the number, her palm slightly sweaty.
“Correct.”
Cha Yuxuan waved her phone. “Let’s talk later, then.”
Yan Qingran tightened her grip on her phone and gave a slight nod. “Mm, let’s talk later.”
