What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 1
August, Jingcheng.
After the rain, the summer night felt like a Bloody Mary on the rocks.
A black coupe pulled up in front of the bar, and two young people, a guy and a girl, stepped out.
The dazzling, colorful lights made Cha Yuxuan squint slightly. She curled the corner of her mouth and strode forward.
Extremely short hot pants, a crop top camisole, a leather jacket shiny as if coated with black lacquer, and smoky makeup so heavy even her own mother wouldn’t recognize her.
She had come to the bar with a purpose tonight.
She looked genuinely mature, and with the thin patch on the back of her neck resembling a suppressant sticker, no one would guess she was still a minor.
A hostess bowed and ushered her inside.
Xue Jiu brushed aside the stray hair on his forehead and followed her into the bar.
He couldn’t talk her out of it, so he had no choice but to tag along.
The bar was exactly as Cha Yuxuan had imagined filled with explosive music and the mingled scents of various drinks, where even every breath felt charged with ambiguity.
It truly was a paradise for adults.
“Give me…”
She casually perched on a barstool, leaning against the edge of the counter as she glanced at the bartender. “Mix me your signature drink.”
After all, she’d never been here before and didn’t know any drink names.
Xue Jiu settled beside her and tapped the counter to get the bartender’s attention. “A mojito for me, thanks.”
He glanced at the girl beside him. Even before her differentiation, she was already as tall as the average alpha girl, with a vibrant, spirited look in her eyes.
She was, well, kind of cool.
She’ll probably turn out to be a high-level alpha, he thought.
The atmosphere in the bar was restless and vibrant, awash in a kaleidoscope of colors. Surprisingly, Cha Yuxuan felt right at home in this setting much like the extreme sports she loved, it sent her adrenaline soaring.
In the dance floor, men and women flirted intimately, skillfully and casually releasing pheromones to test each other, unleashing their untamed instincts under the influence of alcohol.
The drink was ready, a frothy red concoction bubbling up from a clear green liquid, with a mist hovering over the rim of the glass, looking like a failed chemistry experiment.
“Water Lily.”
Cha Yuxuan heard the bartender introduce the drink’s name.
“Deep Sea Magma” might have been more fitting, she thought, taking a small sip.
It was sharp and pungent at first, but the aftertaste was unexpectedly fresh and sweet, a unique flavor that was quite intoxicating. Cha Yuxuan could already feel her body temperature rising slightly.
The crowd gradually thickened, on the dance floor, around the bar, in the booths people pressed against each other, shoulder to shoulder.
She even turned down several omega sisters who came up to flirt.
That wasn’t why she had come today. In fact, she didn’t have a specific reason for being here. It was just that the bar, a place so highly praised by many, was somewhere she hadn’t yet visited, so she had to seize the opportunity to check it out. Today happened to be the day.
As the lights swept over them, flickering between brightness and shadow, Xue Jiu noticed the patch on the back of her neck. “Hey, Cos, what’s that sticker on your neck? It really looks like the suppressant patches we use.”
Cos, short for cosine, sounded quite similar to the pronunciation of Cha Yuxuan’s name, especially in their hometown dialect, almost identical. So, she had a nickname: “Kuo Sen.”
“Stretch-and-Gasp Plaster, specially treats sprains, stiff necks and joint pain.” Cha Yuxuan reached back and touched the patch on her nape cool and soothing then said seriously, “I had a stiff neck last night, so I grabbed a box from the vending machine. Works pretty well. I’ll get you one later.”
If Xue Jiu didn’t know Cha Yuxuan’s personality so well, he might have actually believed her.
“Pfft, who are you trying to fool? I’m not buying it.” Xue Jiu set down his glass and leaned in, eyes wide. “Let me see.”
“Get lost, don’t touch me.” Cha Yuxuan slapped his forehead. “Why are you so close? Acting all gay, I’m not falling for that.”
“What nonsense are you spouting? Your brother here is definitely not gay!”
Xue Jiu rubbed his forehead and shot her a look, his cheeks flushed under the colorful lights. “Little sis, are you drunk or something?”
Cha Yuxuan shook her head, her gaze still clear. “Nope, my alcohol tolerance is just fine.”
Xue Jiu quickly ordered her some juice. “Drink less alcohol, more juice. I don’t want you going home reeking of booze, or Mom will blame me again.”
“You ordered it, you drink it.”
Cha Yuxuan raised an eyebrow, pushed the empty glass back to him, and ordered another “Lotus Blooming on Water.” She liked the taste like magma in an icy spring on a summer night, fiery yet sweet.
“Hello?” A cool, detached female voice.
“Um, Sister Yanyan, this is Yu Chengtian. Zhuang Wei’s drunk could you come pick him up?”
Yu Chengtian had thought it over and decided no one else was suitable, so he reluctantly called Yan Qingran.
Zhuang Wei at a bar, and drunk? Yan Qingran was surprised. What surprised her even more was that his friend had called her, of all people.
They were famously childhood sweethearts in their circle, close and even engaged, a relationship many envied.
At least, that’s how it looked from the outside.
She had no reason not to maintain that image of the engagement. After all, it was a small effort, and it benefited her too.
“Where is he?”
“FOX Bar in District 7.”
“Alright, I’ll be there.”
Yan Qingran knew of FOX Bar, it was a popular spot near the university district, and she’d heard plenty about it.
But she’d never been.
It was a little past eleven, and Yan Qingran had been about to go to bed since she had to help with freshman orientation at the university early the next morning.
As the current student council president, the face of Q University’s architecture department, and top of the campus goddess rankings, her advisor had insisted she had to be there.
Fine, she’d go. Some responsibilities couldn’t be avoided.
Yan Qingran had been living alone off-campus since starting university, renting an apartment near the school. Her family had provided her with a car for convenience, though she rarely drove it.
From her place to FOX Bar wasn’t too far about a ten-minute drive.
The sooner she got Zhuang Wei settled, the sooner she could go home and sleep. Yan Qingran changed into casual clothes and headed out.
There was no way she’d bring Zhuang Wei back to her place.
And Yu Chengtian wouldn’t know that, even after calling Yan Qingran, Zhuang Wei would still end up staying alone in a hotel.
At the bar, Zhuang Wei was already so drunk he was drooling, his brows furrowed and his face alarmingly red. His oversized T-shirt was crooked, exposing one rounded shoulder.
Fortunately, he was relatively well-behaved when drunk, or else it would have been troublesome. With the principle of AO keeping their distance, the two friends who came with him both alphas didn’t dare lay a hand on him.
Yu Chengtian stared at the table full of empty bottles, his heart still racing as he remarked, “Even after presenting as an Omega, Zhuang Wei is still so wild. He drinks like there’s no tomorrow, and no one could talk him out of it.”
“Yeah, he’s not exactly following Omega etiquette. Sister Yan Yan will definitely be angry when she gets here.”
Zang Jie nodded in agreement. If it were his Omega acting so recklessly outside, he would’ve lost his temper long ago. Only Yan Qingran could keep her cool without even cursing over the phone.
Cursing in public?
If Yan Qingran heard that, she would say such a tasteless thing was beneath her.
And in all her life, there had never been anything worth making her curse in public.
The night grew cooler, and the black sedan sliced through the evening’s chill, heading straight for the bar.
Yan Qingran focused on driving, the car as quiet and composed as she was steady and calm.
Even with the bar’s ventilation system, she still had to wear two masks before entering. She was particularly sensitive to the scent of pheromones, especially sweet ones. A single whiff could make her nauseous, leaving her feeling suffocated.
She truly despised anything sweet.
How much did she dislike sweetness?
Yan Qingran once said that she couldn’t tolerate anything emitting a sweet scent around her. She absolutely refused to share a room with anything sweet.
As soon as she reached the bar’s entrance, the deafening music made her frown, and her steps involuntarily slowed.
She preferred quiet, and this place was far too noisy for her.
In that brief pause, a hostess seized the opportunity to stop her.
It was the first time the hostess had seen someone dressed so plainly for a night out, a white T-shirt, black pants, white sneakers, no jewelry, and hair casually draped over her shoulders, making her look like an underage kid.
Most notably, she was wearing a mask, as if deliberately trying to hide her age.
The hostess smiled politely and said, “Hello, miss, we don’t allow minors here.”
Yan Qingran nodded as she took out her ID. “Yes, thank you.”
She was in her third year of university, 21 years old by traditional reckoning.
After that minor hiccup, she made her way inside.
The air was thick with the faint, intertwining scents of pheromones sweet, salty, spicy, bitter all mingling like a chaotic stew, assaulting her senses.
It was far from pleasant. She furrowed her brows, her expression turning serious.
“Sister Yan Yan! Over here!”
Yu Chengtian stood up from the booth, waving his arms overhead in a cross motion.
Yan Qingran gave a slight nod to acknowledge him.
The place was packed and crowded, the air thick with unpleasant, mixed smells. How could anyone enjoy being here?
Though she didn’t understand it, she maneuvered sideways through the narrow gaps along the bar, trying to make her way over.
Suddenly, she couldn’t move. Glancing down, she saw that the corner of her clothes had caught on something. Following the fabric, she spotted a pair of garish hot pants and a glimpse of pale waist and thigh.
The owner of the hot pants felt the tug and reached down to free the fabric, murmuring a slightly tipsy “Sorry” before quickly turning back toward the bar.
Yan Qingran smoothed her clothes and continued inward.
In the spacious booth, a pale, slender young man was curled up. His lips were rosy, and two patches of blush tinted his cheeks. His chest rose and fell gently as he slept soundly.
In terms of appearance alone, Zhuang Wei was indeed quite pretty a soft, delicate, and adorable little Omega, two years her junior.
Yu Chengtian and Zang Jie made way for her.
Yan Qingran stood in front of him, bent down, and called out, “Hey, Zhuang Wei, wake up.”
“Hmm?” Zhuang Wei groggily opened his eyes, his eyelashes fluttering like tiny brushes. In his daze, the figure before him gradually came into focus. “Yan Qingran?”
Yan Qingran nodded. “It’s me.”
“What are you doing here?”
Masking his surprise, Zhuang Wei propped himself up on the seat, struggling to sit upright, but he felt utterly weak all over.
“I’m here to take you back.”
“You don’t need to bother. I can go back on my own.”
That would be for the best. Yan Qingran crossed her arms and looked down at him without a word.
His behavior made Yu Chengtian and the other shake their heads in disbelief.
Sis Yan is so angry she doesn’t even want to speak. Can’t you just be a little more obedient, Zhuang Wei?
Amid the silence, Zhuang Wei pushed himself up unsteadily, swaying as he stood. Dizzy and unsteady, he stumbled and fell right into Yan Qingran’s arms.
With his signature honey-like pheromones, he collided with Yan Qingran’s shoulder in what seemed like an intentional stumble.
Yan Qingran was tall, 175 centimeters, even considered tall among alpha females, standing three centimeters taller than Zhuang Wei, a male Omega.
Zhuang Wei’s pheromones actually smell like honey?!
It’s absolutely nauseating. Yan Qingran felt like she was about to be suffocated by the cloying sweetness.
“Are you in heat today?”
She gripped his shoulders, pushing him slightly away, her brows furrowed deeply.
“Huh?” Zhuang Wei shook his head, trying to clear his mind. He tugged at his collar. “I do feel a bit hot.”
Idiot. Going out to drink during your heat, and getting this drunk? It wouldn’t matter if it were just that Yan Qingran never really cared but since she’d been called here, she couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
“I’m taking you to the hospital.”
Already overwhelmed by the sweetness and fighting the urge to vomit, Yan Qingran didn’t want to say another word. Grabbing Zhuang Wei, she pushed through the crowd and headed outside.
Huh?
Yu Chengtian and Zang Jie exchanged glances: She’s not taking him to a hotel? Sis Yan must be really pissed.
Along the way, the honeyed pheromones of the Omega in heat relentlessly assaulted her senses. As a normal alpha, being tempted like this was unbearable. She couldn’t hold out much longer.
Just a little faster, hang in there a bit more. We’re almost at the door.
Suddenly, Zhuang Wei called her name. Yan Qingran stopped and turned to look at him.
“My legs are weak. I can’t walk.”
He clung to her arm, leaning heavily on her shoulder, his eyes red and teary. The honey scent around him seemed to intensify as pheromone molecules began to seep past the suppressant patch.
People around them were starting to stare. Some alphas grew restless, the scent of an Omega in heat was irresistibly alluring to them.
Damn!
She was growing agitated too. The glands at the back of her neck heated up, releasing hormones that threatened to cloud her judgment.
Yan Qingran cursed Zhuang Wei eighteen times in her mind.
“Hey.”
A hand suddenly tapped her on the shoulder.
Yan Qingran turned to look. It seemed to be the owner of the hot pants from earlier.
Cha Yuxuan raised an eyebrow at her. “Need help?”
Beside them, Xue Jiu was already rolling his eyes in exasperation. Asking if someone needed help at a time like this was practically a declaration of war.
No alpha could tolerate others touching their omega during a heat cycle.
Amid the crowd, Cha Yuxuan’s calm and unruffled demeanor suddenly made Yan Qingran feel he was reliable. His eyes were clear and bright, unlike others who carried varying degrees of flushed agitation.
“Thank you.”
She handed Zhuang Wei over to Cha Yuxuan with visible relief. “Could you help get him to the car outside? I’ll repay you.”
“No need for repayment…” Cha Yuxuan slung an arm around Zhuang Wei’s shoulder and flashed her an infuriating grin. “I just thought you seemed a bit incompetent.”
A vein twitched on Yan Qingran’s forehead.
